Ultra fine mesh filter for skimmer baskets and pre-filter baskets
The ultra-fine mesh filter addresses the challenge of capturing microparticles in aquatic spaces by using a polyamide mesh with a size between 100 and 50 microns, attached to skimmer or pre-filter baskets. This solution reduces water wastage, extends sand filter washing cycles, and minimizes chemical usage, enhancing water quality and sustainability.

AI Technical Summary
Existing solutions for aquatic spaces like swimming pools, spas, and ponds do not effectively capture ultra-fine particles such as fine mud, pollen, and other microparticles, which can still reach the sand filter and cause damage or require frequent washing cycles, leading to water wastage and increased chemical usage.
An ultra-fine mesh filter with a mesh size between 100 and 50 microns, made from a resistant material like polyamide, is designed to fit onto skimmer baskets or pre-filter baskets. This filter is attached using two rings and features flaps for easy removal, ensuring that ultra-fine particles are trapped and do not reach the sand filter.
The ultra-fine mesh filter effectively captures microparticles, reducing the need for frequent sand filter washing and water usage, while also minimizing the requirement for chemical additives like flocculants, thus enhancing water quality and sustainability.

Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] ULTRA-FINE MESH FILTER FOR SKIMMER BASKET AND PRE-FILTER BASKET
[0003] Object of the invention
[0004] The object of this report is an ultra-fine mesh filter for skimmer basket and pre-filter basket, designed to be used in aquatic spaces such as swimming pools, spas and ponds, which can be manufactured in different materials, preferably steel and polyamide.
[0005] Technical sector
[0006] The field of application of the present invention falls within the water industry sector, both professional and private, applied to swimming pools, spas and ponds.
[0007] Background of the invention
[0008] Cleaning and protection tools or systems for swimming pools, spas, and ponds, such as skimmer baskets or the pre-filter basket before water enters the recirculation pump, act as a protective blockage so that leaves and larger particles that reach these baskets are trapped in these receptacles and do not reach the recirculation pump, among other things, avoiding the potential damage that this would cause to the system. Smaller particles, however, are not retained by these elements, reaching the sand filter, whose main purpose is to retain these elements and thus ensure that the water returned to the pool, spa, or pond, after passing through these elements, arrives with as few solid remains as possible.
[0009] Also on the market, we can find elements that act as traps for the smallest particles that reach the skimmer, such as the well-known "socks," elastic meshes, usually disposable, that trap these smaller particles than those that would otherwise be trapped by the skimmer basket.
[0010] However, no solution has yet been developed on the market that uses an ultra-fine mesh, between 100 and 50 microns, made of a resistant material like polyamide and attached by two rings to the skimmer basket or the pump's pre-filter basket, to collect elements as light and almost imperceptible as fine mud, pollen, and other elements during the water recirculation cycle. This new element, easy to install, clean, and long-lasting, combines a series of previously unimaginable benefits. Beyond keeping the water in the pool, spa, or swimming pool clean, it prevents microparticles from reaching the sand filter, substantially extending the sand filter's backwash cycles and subsequent rinsing processes, saving thousands of liters of water and making these aquatic spaces more sustainable, both economically and environmentally.Furthermore, this ultra-fine mesh filter drastically reduces the need for added chemicals such as flocculants, among others, which also has significant implications for the environment and water quality.
[0011] Description of the invention
[0012] The present invention relates to an ultra-fine mesh filter as shown in Figure 1, for skimmer and pre-filter basket, designed to be used in aquatic spaces such as swimming pools, spas and pools that, being able to be manufactured in different materials, preferably steel and polyamide, consists of an upper ring of diameter slightly larger than the internal diameter of the skimmer or pre-filter basket and a lower ring of diameter slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the skimmer or pre-filter basket, which joined by means of an ultra-fine mesh form a receptacle that fits, based on the standard sizes of diameter and depth, to the skimmer basket or the pre-filter basket of the pump, retaining the microparticles and preventing them from reaching the sand filter.
[0013] To easily remove this ultra-fine mesh filter from the skimmer basket or pump pre-filter basket where it sits, the top ring features two flaps that allow for convenient and efficient removal of the ultra-fine mesh filter, preventing retained microparticles from returning to the aquatic environment.
[0014] Brief description of the figures Below is a very brief description of a series of drawings that help to better understand the invention and that are expressly related to an embodiment of said invention that is presented as a non-limiting example thereof.
[0015] FIG 1. Shows a view of the ultra-fine mesh filter (1), with the detail of the upper ring (2) and the lower ring (3), joined by an ultra-fine mesh (4) that forms a receptacle adapted to the dimensions of the different baskets or baskets of standard skimmers and pre-filters, together with the two flaps (5) joined to the upper ring (2).
[0016] Exposition of a detailed embodiment of the invention
[0017] The invention is explained in greater detail below with reference to a preferred embodiment also shown in the drawing.
[0018] The ultra-fine mesh filter (1) consists of: an upper ring (2) with a diameter slightly larger than the inner diameter of the skimmer basket or pre-filter, so that it is housed above the profile of the skimmer basket or pre-filter. For its part, the lower ring (3) is of a diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the skimmer basket or pre-filter, so that it is located inside and supported on the bottom of the skimmer basket or pre-filter, and preventing that during periods of rest of the pump, the ultra-fine mesh (4) can be raised by the movement of the water itself, among others, and thus that the collected elements can return to the pool, spa or swimming pool.
[0019] The ultra-fine mesh (4), which by being joined by seams or heat-welded to the upper ring (2) and the lower ring (3) forms a receptacle open at the top and closed at the bottom, with the same morphology as the basket or skimmer basket or pre-filter that houses it, will have the necessary measurements so that the base that it forms with the lower ring (3) rests on the base of the basket or skimmer basket or pre-filter that houses it.
[0020] Although the invention has been described above with reference to a preferred embodiment, it is obvious that variations will quickly arise for a person skilled in the art which fall within the scope of the appended claims.
