Description

DescriptionTitle of Invention : Damper for Dental Handpiece Turbine VibrationsTechnical Field

[0001] The technical field of this invention relates to medical equipment which can be applied in dentistry.Background Art

[0002] Most of the technologies related to vibration of the body and the transfer of motor power to the body of turbines are related to adjusting the motor speed and vibration of the motor and internal coordination between the shafts and blades of the motor and sometimes using rubber washers to make this connection more flexible to reduce the amount of vibration and noise, and have been made and presented as an external device to reduce vibration. The components are mostly related to the manufacture of the body and adjusting the speed and ways of turbine motor rotation.

[0003] Device for controlling the torque of a dental air turbine published by German patent office in 000003105978 publication number. This invention discloses a device for controlling the torque of a dental air turbine in a turbine drive by means of which a handpiece can be supplied with compressed air from a source of compressed air via an air supply line.

[0004] In order to facilitate the control processes for the dentist, the device located in the air supply line has a motor whose direction of rotation can be reversed, a compressed air control valve which can be adjusted by means of the motor and is located in the air supply line, a rotation angle positioner and a rotation angle detector. In order to adjust the control valve with the aid of commands given by the rotation angle positioner the actual angular position is determined; the degree of opening of the control valve is adjusted to the target degree of opening by turning and stopping the motor until the control valve reaches the desired angular position.Summary of Invention

[0005] In this invention, a force is applied to the handpiece handle using an elastic silicone washer inside a metal ring. The damping mass and spring system consists of two metal rings inside each other and is connected by micro springs that have the main function of energy dissipation.

[0006] The energy transferred from the motor to the spring and the through the reciprocating movements with limited amplitude in the space considered in the chamber, the spring can damp and dissipate a lot of energy.Technical Problem

[0007] Given the scientific breakthroughs and advances in the manufacture of medical versatile equipment, implementation and the utilization of such instruments have also appeared differently, especially for dentists who have to use instruments and equipment for a long time on a daily manner. Such issues are occasionally accompanied by pain and even in advanced cases, cause disability of the hands, ears, and even diseases in the neck of dentists.

[0008] The most common and versatile equipment for dentists is dental turbines and angles so that in absence of them practically no operation or surgery can be conducted.

[0009] As advanced technology has been utilized in the manufacture of the motor of these turbines, their rotational speed reaches about 350,000 to 500,000 rpm, so this rotational force is strongly associated with the hand and body of the dentist. Hence, over time and given repeated use of this device after the transfer of this force to the wrist and then the elbow and even the neck will cause diseases for dentists that sometimes result in disability.

[0010] For instance, a notable case is the common and painful disease of carpal tunnel syndrome in the wrist, which causes severe pain to dentists. Therefore, manufacturing a device to dampen the power of these turbines and reduce the transfer of energy to users can obviate their issues especially.Advantageous Effects of Invention

[0011] The most important advantages of manufacturing this device are the following:

[0012] Potential to damp and depreciate energy for different types of handpieces by considering different motor speeds;

[0013] Quick and easy installation without the need for any special tools and expertise;

[0014] Potential to separate and replace internal parts to clean and repair damaged ones;

[0015] Potential to be sterilized according to the type and material of consumables used in its manufacture;

[0016] Appropriate size and dimensions without any negative impact on the performance and vision of the dentist;

[0017] It is very cost-effective;

[0018] No negative effect on handpiece performance;

[0019] Compatibility of materials used in the manufacture of its components and no chemical reaction with saliva.Brief Description of Drawings

[0020] Figure 1 : Location of the damping system

[0021] Figure 2: General view of system

[0022] Figure 3: Components of the mass and spring systemDescription of Embodiments

[0023] Cover and main body (1 ): A metal ring with stainless steel coating and suitable for salivary conditions of the mouth and non-reactive, is designed as a double-sided threaded, one inner thread (1 -1 ) and outer thread (3-1 ) of the wall of the body is considered so that when connecting, it can be placed above the surface of the body of the handpiece and push-button valve and has a perfectly suitable connection.

[0024] The inner groove (2-1 ) and the inner threads are the screwing point of the push button. As this part is mounted in the upper part of the turbine head and the pushbutton is located in the upper part, this part is placed as an interface between them, so it is necessary to screw the pushbutton threads to it fromabove and the part itself from the bottom to the body is screwed to the turbine through external grooves on the part (3-1) to make a complete connection. Thus, by mounting this part, we create a space behind the turbine so that the damping system can operate with spring vibration.

[0025] Elastic silicone washer: Silicone washer (1 -2) made of RTV2 silicone in which a large upper metal ring (2-2) to connect to the micro-spring (4-2) and also a small metal ring (3-2) is embedded for connecting micro springs to large rings. The force applied to the silicone washer absorbs the force and can dissipate energy, and is also a place to connect the internal components of this device with the metal cover of the main body.

[0026] The small metal rings are attached to the micro shaft to be placed on the outer wall of the turbine so that it can be used only as a seat, and when the motor rotates, there is no connection and therefore no movement, and the only function is to receive vibration and transmit it to a mass spring system.

[0027] A metal shaft (5-2) is used in the middle of this part, which as well as creating integration and connecting the rings and finally connecting with the silicone washer coherently and completely, transfers power from the pushbutton to the system to the system for release the drill bit.

[0028] Mass and spring system: The spring damper, which consists of two metal rings inside, is made of cobalt and is connected by micro-springs (4-2), which its main function is energy dissipation. In this way, the energy transferred from the motor to this mass system and spring through reciprocating movements with limited amplitude in the space considered in the chamber can largely damp the energy entered.

[0029] The terminal metal ring (7-2) is mounted on the outer body of the turbine as the first point to receive its vibrations, then these vibrations are transmitted through the micro shaft to the upper part of the damping system. In the upper part, two metal rings have micro springs between them and are connected to them. The first ring (metal ring which is located inside) transmits the vibrations to the springs and then the springs, after damping most of the applied forces, transfer the small force to the second ring (outer metal ring), and these forces aretransmitted through this metal ring which is attached to the silicon ring, where the final damping takes place.

[0030] As a result, this device is easily embedded between the motor and pushbutton ring and will be firmly in place easily through the screw connection and can be used as an integrated system after the turbine is rotated and moved within an internal system. Given the size of this device, it can easily be used as a supplement for all handpieces.Examples

[0031] To utilize this device, the user should open the push button with a special wrench and screw the product to the turbine series (a), and after setting the micro shaft on the drill shaft, close the push button on the piece and it is ready to use. To replace or repair, the user can easily dissemble it with a wrench and go through the above steps after repair.
