Abstract
Description
[0001] A BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The invention relates to a brake pedal assembly comprising at least one brake pedal which allows braking in vehicles to be controlled by the driver by applying pressure to a pressure surface and which can rotate around at least one pivot axis with the applied pressure, having at least one mounting body forming the mounting surface of said brake pedal to the vehicle.
[0004] PRIOR ART
[0005] Brake pedals in vehicles are an important component used to reduce the speed of the vehicle and stop the vehicle. The braking system is usually based on hydraulic or mechanical principles. In hydraulic braking systems, the force applied to the brake pedal performs the braking operation by.transmitting the brake hydraulic fluid to the brake caliper connected to the wheels through a series of pipes and hoses. In mechanical braking systems, on the other hand, the force applied to the brake pedal is transmitted to the brake drums or discs that slow down the wheels through a series of mechanical connections.
[0006] The brake pedal moves up and down at a certain distance. When pressure is applied to the pedal and released, the pedal returns to its free position usually through a spring mechanism. Here, it is necessary to restrict the height of the pedal in the free position in order for it not to be idle. In order to achieve this, there is a stopper which allows the pedal to stop when it reaches a predetermined height. In the present art, said stopper is configured as an extension on the pedal arm. The stopper extension rests on the mounting body when the pedal rises, preventing the pedal from moving further upwards.
[0007] Pedal arms are formed by bending a sheet metal part. The stopper extension, on the other hand, is formed by removing the areas outside the extension from the end of the sheet metal part. Therefore, in the present art, in order to create a stopper extension on the pedal arm, the entire part must be selected larger than the length of the extension before bending. For this reason, there is a lot of material residue in the sheet metal part, which causes an increase in costs. However, at the present, since the contact area of the stopper with the mounting body is small, strength problems arise.
[0008] As a result, all the above-mentioned problems have made it imperative to make an innovation in the relevant technical field.
[0009] SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0010] The present invention relates to a brake pedal assembly for eliminating the above- mentioned disadvantages and bringing new advantages to the relevant technical field.
[0011] An object of the invention is to produce a brake pedal assembly in which material consumption is reduced during manufacturing and strength problems are eliminated in the stopper part.
[0012] In order to achieve all the objects mentioned above and that will emerge from the detailed explanation below, the present invention is a brake pedal assembly comprising at least one brake pedal which allows braking in vehicles to be controlled by the driver by applying pressure to a pressure surface and which can rotate around at least one pivot axis with the applied pressure, having at least one mounting body forming the mounting surface of said brake pedal to the vehicle. Accordingly, its novelty is that it comprises at least one bearing bracket connected to the mounting body and a pedal arm for connecting the brake pedal to the mounting body, the pedal arm is connected to said bearing bracket with at least one mounting pin, through the center of which the pivot axis passes, during the switch from a pressed position, where pressure is applied to the pressure surface of the brake pedal on the bearing bracket for braking, to a free position where the pressure applied to the pressure surface is released, it comprises at least one stopper extension that restricts the rotation movement around the pivot axis in order to prevent the end where the pressure surface is located from moving further than a predetermined distance from the mounting body in the free position, said stopper extension is configured to extend in free position to contact a leaning edge located in the bearing part of the pedal arm. Thus, since the stopper is located on the extension bearing bracket, the manufacture of the pedal arm is facilitated and the material waste in the manufacture of the pedal arm is reduced. A feature of a possible embodiment of the invention is that the pedal arm comprises at least one first extension and at least one second extension running parallel to each other in a direction of extension, has a U-form with at least one bending wall extending between said first extension and said second extension, and the leaning edge is located on said bending wall. Thus, with the embodiment subject to the invention, the problem of material waste in U-form pedal arms is eliminated.

[0018] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0019] In this detailed description, the subject of the invention is explained by way of example only for a better understanding of the subject, which shall not create any limiting effect.
[0020] Figure 1 shows a representative isometric view of the brake pedal assembly (10) subject to the invention. Said brake pedal assembly (10) is configured to ensure that the braking in vehicles can be controlled by the driver. Accordingly, the brake pedal assembly (10) comprises at least one brake pedal (20) allowing the driver to control the braking force, extending at least partially in a direction of extension (x). For this, there is at least one pressure surface (22) on said brake pedal (20). The driver applies force to said pressure surface (22) in order to brake. The brake pedal assembly (10) is connected to the vehicle body by at least one mounting body (30). Accordingly, a pedal arm (21) of the brake pedal (20) is supported in bearings by a mounting body (30) from a bearing part (211 ), and the pressure surface (22) is positioned at the other end of the brake pedal (20). Figure 3 shows a representative isometric view of the brake arm (21).
[0021] The brake pedal assembly (10) comprises at least one bearing bracket (40). Figure 4 shows a representative isometric view of said bearing bracket (40). The bearing bracket (40) is connected to the bearing part (211) on one surface and the mounting body (30) on the other surface to connect the pedal arm (21) with the mounting body (30). The linking of the bearing part (211) and the bearing bracket (40) to each other is ensured by at least one mounting pin (50). The brake pedal (20) is capable of a rotational movement around a pivot axis (o) passing through the center of the mounting pin (50) in the direction of extension (x) of the mounting pin (50). Accordingly, the brake pedal (20) can change position between a pressed position (I) where pressure is applied to the pressure surface (22) by the driver for braking and a free position (II) where the applied pressure is released. The pressed position (I) mentioned here is any position of the pedal other than the free position (II). When the driver applies pressure to the pressure surface (22) of the brake pedal (20) in the free position (II), the pedal arm (21 ) rotates around the pivot axis (o). When the driver has completely releases the pressure, the pedal arm (21) rotates around the pivot axis (o), this time in the opposite direction, and returns to the free position (II). The brake pedal (20) is connected to at least one spring (not shown in the figures) that generates force to ensure that it returns by itself from the pressed position (I) to the free position (II).
[0022] At least one pedal pin slot (211.1) is present on the pedal arm (21 ) for mounting pin (50) connection. There is also a bracket pin slot (41) present on the bearing bracket (40). Accordingly, the mounting pin (50) passes through the bracket pin slot (41 ) and the pedal pin slot (211 .1).
[0023] In the brake pedal assembly (10) subject to the invention, the bearing part (211 ) is formed in such a way that it has a U -form (U). Said U-form (U) is given by bending the pedal arm (21) to the bearing part (211 ). With the U-form (U), the pedal arm (21) has a first extension (212), a second extension (213) and a bending wall (214). The first extension (212) and the second extension (213) run parallel to each other in the direction of extension (x), while the bending wall (214) is located in between. The first extension (212) and the second extension (213) extend from the pivot axis (o) to + x direction (+x). The first extension (212) and the second extension (213) each have a pedal pin slot (211 .1) opposite each other.
[0024] The bearing bracket (40) comprises at least one stopper extension (42). Said stopper extension (42) is configured to restrict the rotational movement of the brake pedal (20) around the pivot axis (o) and to prevent the brake pedal (20) from rising more than a predetermined distance relative to the mounting body (30) when switching from pressed position (I) to free position (II).
[0025] The stopper extension (42) comprises at least one stopping edge (421). At least one leaning edge (214.1 ) located on the bearing part (211) of the pedal arm (21) rests on said stopping edge (421) in the free position (II). When the leaning edge (214.1 ) comes into contact with the stopping edge (421), the rotational movement of the pedal arm (21 ) stops. The stopper extension (42) is formed in such a way that it protrudes at least partially from the bearing bracket (40) in the direction of extension (x) in the -x direction (-x). With this structure, the stopper extension (42) is positioned at least partially between the bending wall (214) and the mounting body (30). The +x direction (+x) is the direction facing the pressure end of the pivot axis (o). The -x direction (-x) is the opposite direction.
[0026] In the light of all these descriptions, in the operation of the brake pedal assembly (10) subject to the invention, the brake pedal (20) rotates around the pivot axis (o), switching from the pressed position (I) to the free position (II) when the driver lifts their foot from the brake pedal (20) after pressing the brake. The rotational movement ends when the bending wall (214) rests on the stopper extension (42). Since the stopper extension (42) located on the pedal arm (21) in the present art is located on the bearing bracket (40) in the present invention, the bearing bracket (40) has a smaller volume than the pedal arm (21 ), and is manufactured with a simpler forming process, material waste is reduced during the forming of the extension, and accordingly the costs are reduced. However, since the stopper comes into contact with the mounting body (30) with the entire face of the bearing bracket (40) facing the mounting body (30), there are no strength problems due to the small contact area between the stopper and the mounting body (30). However, since the stopper extension (42) is already positioned on a fixed element, the strength of the stopper extension (42) is improved.
[0027] The scope of protection of the invention is specified in the appended claims and cannot be limited to what is described for illustrative purposes in this detailed description. Likewise, it is clear that a person skilled in the art can present similar embodiments in the light of the above, without departing from the main theme of the invention.
