Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] TITLE: Multifunction electric cooking appliance

[0003] Domain

[0004] The present invention relates generally to an electric cooking appliance for cooking food in a pressure cooking mode and a hot air cooking mode, such as an electric pressure cooker.

[0005] State of the art

[0006] An electric cooking appliance, for cooking food using a pressure cooking method and a hot air cooking method, comprises in a known manner:

[0007] - a housing comprising a cooking tank which delimits a cooking chamber, and a cover movable between an open position in which the cover allows access to the cooking chamber, and a closed position in which the cover prevents access to the cooking chamber;

[0008] - a fan mechanically connected to the lid and configured to generate an air flow in the cooking chamber;

[0009] - a drive unit configured to rotate the fan;

[0010] - a heating device configured to be located opposite the cooking chamber when the lid occupies the closed position, the heating device being configured to heat the air flow generated by the fan;

[0011] - at least one air circulation opening provided on the lid and opening into the cooking chamber,

[0012] - a closure member movable between a closure position in which the closure member closes the at least one circulation opening, and a circulation position in which the closure member releases the at least one air circulation opening and allows the flow of an air stream through the at least one air circulation opening, the closure position and the circulation position corresponding respectively to a pressure cooking mode and a hot air cooking mode. A steam cooking mode is also possible when the closure member is in an intermediate position.

[0013] Such an electric cooking appliance makes it possible to cook food contained in the cooking chamber in a pressure cooking mode when the lid simultaneously occupies the closed position and the closure member occupies the closure position, and in a hot air cooking mode when the lid simultaneously occupies the closed position and the closure member occupies the circulation position.

[0014] However, the closure member, which is generally formed by a closure flap, requires prior manipulation of an actuating member by a user, in order to move the closure member between the closure position and the circulation position, before being able to then select the desired cooking mode. However, if the user forgets this prior manipulation step, it is possible to initiate the cooking of food received in the cooking tank according to the pressure cooking mode while the first closure device and the second closure device are in the release configuration, or according to the hot air cooking mode while the first closure device and the second closure device are in the closure configuration, which may harm the integrity of the electric cooking appliance or at least result in improper cooking of the food received in the cooking tank.

[0070] The electric cooking appliance 1 further comprises a heating element 13 configured to heat the cooking tank 5. The control unit 2 is in particular configured to activate the heating element 13 when the electric cooking appliance 1 is in the pressure cooking mode.

[0071] The electric cooking appliance 1 also comprises an air intake opening 14.1 and an air exhaust opening 14.2 which are provided on the cover 6, and more particularly on the lower wall 6.1 of the cover 6, and which are configured to open into the cooking chamber 7 when the cover 6 occupies the closed position. The air intake opening 14.1 and the air exhaust opening 14.2 are angularly offset relative to the axis of rotation A2 in order to facilitate circulation of air inside the cooking chamber 7.

[0072] The electric cooking appliance 1 also comprises a first closing device 15.1, such as a first closing valve, and a second closing device 15.2, such as a second closing valve, movable between a closing configuration (see FIG. 2) in which the first closing device 15.1 and the second closing device 15.2 respectively close in a sealed manner the air intake opening 14.1 and the air outlet opening 14.2, and a release configuration (see FIG. 1) in which the first closing device 15.1 and the second closing device 15.2 respectively release the air intake opening 14.1 and the air outlet opening 14.2. More particularly, the air intake opening 14.1 allows air to be admitted into the cooking chamber 7 and the air exhaust opening 14.2 allows air to be evacuated from the cooking chamber 7 when the first closure device 15.1 and the evacuation device are in the release configuration. Furthermore, the closure configuration and the release configuration correspond respectively to the pressure cooking mode and the hot air cooking mode.

[0073] According to the first embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 are pivotally mounted on the cover 6 respectively around an intake axis A3 and an outlet axis A4. However, according to an alternative embodiment not shown in the figures, the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 could be mounted movable in translation relative to the cover 6.

[0074] The electric cooking appliance 1 further comprises a moving device 16 which is motorized and which is configured to move the first closing device 15.1 and the second closing device 15.2 between the closing configuration and the release configuration.

[0075] The moving device 16 comprises in particular a movement transmission mechanism 17 mechanically coupled to the electric motor 18, and mechanically connected to the first shutter device 15.1 and to the second shutter device 15.2. More particularly, the movement transmission mechanism 17 is configured to move the first shutter device 15.1 and the second shutter device 15.2 between the shutter configuration and the release configuration.

[0076] According to the first embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, the motion transmission mechanism 17 is rotatably coupled to a drive shaft 18.1 of the electric motor 18, and comprises a first displacement member 17.1 mechanically connected to the first closure device 15.1, and a second displacement member 17.2 mechanically connected to the second closure device 15.2. The motion transmission mechanism 17 is configured to cause a displacement of the first displacement member 17.1 and the second displacement member 17.2 between a first configuration and a second configuration.

[0077] More particularly, the displacement device 16 is configured such that a movement of the first displacement member 17.1 and the second displacement member 17.2 from the first configuration to the second configuration causes a movement of the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 from the closure configuration to the release configuration (see FIG. 1); and such that a movement of the first displacement member 17.1 and the second displacement member 17.2 from the second configuration to the first configuration causes a movement of the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 from the release configuration to the closure configuration (see FIG. 2). According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the first displacement member 17.1 and the second displacement member 17.2 are distinct from each other.However, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention not shown in the figures, the first displacement member 17.1 and the second displacement member 17.2 could be provided on a single part.

[0078] According to an embodiment not shown in the figures, the moving device 16 could comprise a first electric motor 18 configured to move the first shutter device 15.1 between the shutter configuration and the release configuration, and a second electric motor 18 configured to move the second shutter device 15.2 between the shutter configuration and the release configuration. Advantageously, the first electric motor 18 and the second electric motor 18 are configured to simultaneously move the first shutter device 15.1 and the second shutter device 15.2 between the shutter configuration and the release configuration.

[0079] The electric cooking appliance 1 further comprises a user interface 19 provided on a front part of the housing 3, and electrically connected to the control unit 2, for example by means of at least one connecting cable. The user interface 19 is configured to allow a user to select different cooking parameters including in particular a cooking temperature, a cooking time and a cooking mode, so as to define a cooking program from among several predefined cooking programs. A first cooking program may for example consist of controlling an operation of the electric cooking appliance 1 according to the pressure cooking mode and a second cooking program may for example consist of controlling an operation of the electric cooking appliance 1 according to the hot air cooking mode.Another user-selectable cooking program could consist of controlling an operation of the electric cooking appliance 1 according to one of the pressure cooking mode and the hot air cooking mode, then according to the other of the pressure cooking mode and the hot air cooking mode. Such a configuration of the electric cooking appliance 1 according to the invention makes it possible, during the same recipe, to automatically modify the cooking mode in which the electric cooking appliance 1 is located, for example.

[0080] When a user selects the pressure cooking mode by means of the user interface 19, the control unit 2 controls an electrical supply to the electric motor 18 so as to move the first displacement member 17.1 and the second displacement member 17.2 into the first configuration, such that the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 occupy the closure configuration. The selection of the pressure cooking mode further involves an electrical supply to the heating element 13 in order to heat the cooking vessel 5.

[0081] Antonymically, when a user selects the hot air cooking mode by means of the user interface 19, the control unit 2 controls an electrical supply to the electric motor 18 so as to move the first moving member 17.1 and the second moving member 17.2 into the second configuration, such that the first shutter device 15.1 and the second shutter device 15.2 occupy the release configuration. The selection of the hot air cooking mode further involves an electrical supply to the hot air cooking system 8 in order to generate a flow of hot air on the food received in the cooking tank 5.

[0082] Figure 3 shows an electric cooking appliance 1 according to a second embodiment of the invention which differs from the first embodiment of the invention essentially in that the electric cooking appliance 1 further comprises a locking member 20, such as a locking ring for example, movable at least between a locking position in which the locking member 20 locks the cover 6 in the closed position, and an unlocking position in which the cover 6 is movable between the open position and the closed position. Advantageously, the locking member 20 is configured to be moved into the locking position only when the electric cooking appliance 1 is in the pressure cooking mode.

[0083] According to the second embodiment of the invention, the electric motor 18 comprises a drive shaft 18.1 configured to be rotated in a first direction of rotation and in a second direction of rotation which is opposite to the first direction of rotation. The drive shaft 18.1 is further configured to rotate the locking member 20 between the locking position and the unlocking position, such that a rotation of the drive shaft 18.1 in the first direction of rotation causes a movement of the locking member 20 into the locking position, and such that a rotation of the drive shaft 18.1 in the second direction of rotation causes a movement of the locking member 20 into the locking position.According to the second embodiment of the invention, the displacement device 16 may for example comprise a drive pinion coupled in rotation to the drive shaft 18.1, and the locking member 20 may for example be provided with a drive toothing which extends substantially coaxially with a central axis of the locking member 20 and which is coupled in rotation to the drive pinion. Advantageously, such a configuration of the invention allows the use of a single electric motor 18 in order to simultaneously lock the cover 6 in the closed position, and move the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 into the closure configuration.

[0084] More particularly, and as shown in FIG. 3, the locking member 20 comprises a first actuating portion 21.1 configured to cooperate with the first displacement member 17.1 when the locking member 20 is moved between the unlocking position and the locking position, and a second actuating portion 21.2 configured to cooperate with the second displacement member 17.2 when the locking member 20 is moved between the unlocking position and the locking position. The first displacement member 17.1 may for example be pivotally mounted relative to the cover 6 about a first pivot axis, and the second displacement member 17.2 may for example be pivotally mounted relative to the cover 6 about a second pivot axis.Advantageously, and according to the embodiment of the invention shown in Figure 3, the locking member 20 is driven in movement by the electric motor 18. The user then simply positions the lid in the closed position and selects the pressure cooking mode by means of the user interface 19, this in order to automatically control the movement of the locking member 20 into the locked position and the movement of the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 into the closure configuration.

[0085] Advantageously, the electric cooking appliance 1 is configured such that a movement of the locking member 20 from the unlocking position to the locking position simultaneously causes a movement of the first movement member 17.1 and the second movement member 17.2 from the second configuration to the first configuration, and such that a movement of the locking member 20 from the locking position to the unlocking position causes a movement of the first movement member 17.1 and the second movement member 17.2 from the first configuration to the second configuration. Such a configuration of the electric cooking appliance 1 makes it possible to authorize only two arrangements of the electric cooking appliance 1; a first arrangement in which the locking member 20 is in the locking position and in which the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 are in the closure configuration, and a second arrangement in which the locking member 20 is in the unlocking position and in which the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 are in the release configuration. Advantageously, this makes it possible to avoid using the electric cooking appliance 1 for example in an arrangement in which the locking member 20 would be in the locking position and the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 would be in the release configuration and in an arrangement in which the locking member 20 would be in the unlocking position and the first closure device 15.1 and the second closure device 15.2 would be in the closure configuration.
