Abstract
Description
User terminal and method for providing information related to item sales service
[0001] The present disclosure relates to an electronic device and method for providing related information through each page of an item sales service.
[0002] As item sales services become more sophisticated, various attempts are being made to improve service quality and profitability. Examples include providing a smooth user interface that responds to user input across various screens in applications or web pages, or providing messages encouraging users to purchase items.
[0003] However, recommending items to users without any context or encouraging them to sign up for membership can easily have a negative impact on the user experience and does not lead to an increase in the long-term profitability of the service. Therefore, an operational strategy is needed that provides nudges that can generate revenue for the service provider at the right time and place during the item purchase process without causing rejection to users.
[0004] In this regard, reference can be made to prior literature such as KR2022-0164454A.
[0005] The present disclosure is proposed to solve the above-described problems, and aims to improve user experience by providing information about the benefits of an item in a contextual manner on various pages, such as the item detail page, search results page, and cart page.
[0006] The technical problems to be achieved by the present disclosure are not limited to the technical problems described above, and other technical problems can be inferred from the following examples.
[0007] According to the present disclosure, a method for providing information related to an item sales service through a user terminal may include the steps of: receiving, from a user, an input for an add-to-cart interface on a detail page of a first item; and, in response to the input for the add-to-cart interface, displaying a first modal interface on the detail page in response to the first item being added to the user's cart. The first modal interface may include a first area in which a message and a graph interface indicating whether a minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item is met are displayed, and a second area in which recommended items are displayed.
[0008] According to one embodiment, the first area may display a bar-shaped graph interface corresponding to the minimum order amount, wherein the graph interface may display an area corresponding to the total amount of items in the user's cart, including the first item, in an activated state, and an area corresponding to the remaining order amount corresponding to the difference between the minimum order amount and the total amount in an inactive state.
[0009] According to one embodiment, in the first area, if the total amount of items in the user's cart is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount, the graph interface may be hidden and a call-to-action (CTA) object linking to the user's cart page may be displayed.
[0010] According to one embodiment, the second area may display items whose price is equal to or greater than the remaining order amount, which is the difference between the minimum order amount and the total amount of items in the user's cart, as recommended items. In this regard, the recommended items displayed in the second area may be displayed in descending order of price. Alternatively, the recommended items displayed in the second area may be items whose price is equal to or greater than the remaining order amount, excluding items corresponding to daily necessities.
[0011] According to one embodiment, a method for providing information related to an item sales service through a user terminal may further include the steps of: receiving a close request for the first modal interface from the user; and displaying the message and the graph interface at the top of the detailed page.
[0012] According to one embodiment, a method for providing information related to an item sales service through a user terminal may further include the steps of: receiving a request for switching to a search result page (SRP) from the user; and, in response to the switching request, displaying the search result page, wherein, on the search result page, a message guiding benefits may be displayed for at least some items among a plurality of items displayed on the search result page that have benefits for paid members of the item sales service.
[0013] According to one embodiment, a method for providing information related to an item sales service through a user terminal may further include the steps of: receiving a request for switching to a cart page from the user; and, in response to the switch request, displaying the cart page. As a related example, the cart page may display a total payment amount to be paid by the user and a total discount amount received by the user at the top of a bottom sheet within the cart page, and a CTA object linking to the user's payment page may be displayed at the bottom of the bottom sheet within the cart page. As another example, the cart page may display a total discount amount received by the user at the top of a bottom sheet within the cart page, and a CTA object linking to the user's payment page may be displayed at the bottom of the bottom sheet within the cart page, and the total payment amount to be paid by the user may also be displayed within the CTA object.
[0014] According to one embodiment, a method for providing information related to an item sales service through a user terminal may further include: receiving a payment request from the user on the cart page; checking whether, among the items in the user's cart, there exists a first type of item for which a minimum order amount required for delivery is set; if there exists no item of the first type, displaying a payment page in response to the payment request; and if there exists an item of the first type, checking whether the total amount of the items of the first type in the user's cart is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount, displaying a payment page in response to the payment request if the total amount of the items of the first type is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount, and if the total amount of the items of the first type is less than the minimum order amount, displaying a second modal interface for separately paying only for items of the second type for which the minimum order amount is not set among the items in the user's cart. As a related example, the second modal interface may include an option for separately paying only for items of the second type and an image of the items of the second type. As another example, the second modal interface may include an option to pay separately for only the second type of item, an option to sign up for a paid membership for the item selling service and pay for all items in the user's cart, and an image of the second type of item.
[0015] Meanwhile, a user terminal for providing information related to an item sales service according to the present disclosure includes a memory and a processor for storing commands, and the processor is connected to the memory to receive an input from a user for an add-to-cart interface on a detail page of a first item, and in response to the input for the add-to-cart interface, a first modal interface may be displayed on the detail page according to the addition of the first item to the user's cart. The first modal interface may include a first area for displaying a message and a graph interface indicating whether a minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item is met, and a second area for displaying recommended items.
[0016] Specific details of other embodiments are included in the detailed description and drawings.
[0017] According to the present disclosure, information related to shipping benefits can be provided in a visible manner on the item detail page, thereby encouraging users to purchase items through the detail page.
[0018] In addition, according to the present disclosure, the details of benefits for items with shipping or return benefits can be displayed in a visible manner on the search results page, thereby inducing users to focus their attention on items with benefits.
[0019] Additionally, according to the present disclosure, payment-related information can be displayed in a visible manner on the cart page, and items with shipping benefits can be separated from those without shipping benefits, thereby providing shipping options, thereby encouraging efficient purchase decisions by users.

[0032] Hereinafter, specific embodiments will be described with reference to the drawings. The following detailed description is provided to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the methods, devices, and / or systems described herein. However, these are merely examples, and the disclosed embodiments are not limited thereto.
[0033] In describing the embodiments, if it is determined that a detailed description of related known technology may unnecessarily obscure the gist of the disclosed embodiments, the detailed description will be omitted. In addition, the terms described below are terms defined in consideration of functions in the disclosed embodiments, and this may vary depending on the intention or custom of the user or operator. Therefore, the definitions should be made based on the contents throughout this specification. The terminology used in the detailed description is only for the purpose of describing the embodiments and should never be limited. Unless clearly used otherwise, the singular form includes the plural form. In this description, expressions such as "comprises" or "having" are intended to indicate certain features, numbers, steps, operations, elements, parts or combinations thereof, and should not be construed to exclude the presence or possibility of one or more other features, numbers, steps, operations, elements, parts or combinations thereof other than those described.
[0034] The terms used in the embodiments have been selected from widely used and common terms, taking into account the functions of the present disclosure. However, these terms may vary depending on the intentions of those skilled in the art, precedents, the emergence of new technologies, etc. Furthermore, in certain cases, terms may be arbitrarily selected by the applicant, in which case their meanings will be described in detail in the relevant description. Therefore, the terms used in this disclosure should not be defined simply as names of terms, but rather based on the meanings of the terms and the overall content of the present disclosure.
[0035] When a part of the specification is said to "include" a component, this does not mean that it excludes other components, but rather that it may include other components, unless otherwise specifically stated. Furthermore, terms such as "part," "module," etc., used in the specification refer to a unit that processes at least one function or operation, which may be implemented in hardware or software, or a combination of hardware and software, and, unlike the illustrated examples, may not be clearly distinguished in terms of specific operations.
[0036] The expression "at least one of a, b, and c" described throughout the specification may encompass 'a alone', 'b alone', 'c alone', 'a and b', 'a and c', 'b and c', or 'all of a, b, and c'.
[0037] The "terminal" mentioned below may be implemented as a computer or portable terminal that can connect to a server or other terminal via a network. Here, the computer includes, for example, a notebook, desktop, laptop, etc. equipped with a web browser, and the portable terminal may include, for example, a wireless communication device that guarantees portability and mobility, and may include all types of handheld-based wireless communication devices such as communication-based terminals such as IMT (International Mobile Telecommunication), CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access), W-CDMA (W-Code Division Multiple Access), LTE (Long Term Evolution), smartphones, tablet PCs, etc.
[0038] In the following description, the terms “transmission,” “communication,” “sending,” “receiving,” or other similar terms of a signal or information include not only the direct transmission of a signal or information from one component to another, but also the transmission via another component.
[0039] In particular, "transmitting" or "sending" a signal or information as a single component indicates the final destination of the signal or information, not the direct destination. The same applies to "receiving" a signal or information. Furthermore, in this specification, "relating" two or more pieces of data or information means that, upon acquiring one piece of data (or information), at least a portion of the other piece of data (or information) can be acquired based on that piece of data (or information).
[0040] Additionally, while terms such as first, second, etc. may be used to describe various components, these components should not be limited by these terms. These terms may be used to distinguish one component from another.
[0041] For example, without departing from the scope of the present invention, a first component could be referred to as a second component, and similarly, a second component could also be referred to as a first component.
[0042] In describing the embodiments, descriptions of technical details that are well-known in the technical field to which the present invention pertains and are not directly related to the present invention will be omitted. This is to avoid obscuring the gist of the present invention by omitting unnecessary explanations and to convey it more clearly.
[0043] For the same reason, some components in the attached drawings are exaggerated, omitted, or schematically depicted. Furthermore, the dimensions of each component do not entirely reflect its actual size. Identical or corresponding components in each drawing are assigned the same reference numbers.
[0044] The advantages and features of the present invention, and the methods for achieving them, will become clearer with reference to the embodiments described in detail below together with the accompanying drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed below and may be implemented in various different forms. These embodiments are provided only to ensure that the disclosure of the present invention is complete and to fully inform those skilled in the art of the scope of the invention, and the present invention is defined only by the scope of the claims. Like reference numerals designate like elements throughout the specification.
[0045] It will be appreciated that each block of the flowchart drawings and combinations of the flowchart drawings can be performed by computer program instructions. These computer program instructions can be installed in a processor of a general-purpose computer, a special-purpose computer, or other programmable data processing equipment, such that the instructions, when executed by the processor of the computer or other programmable data processing equipment, create a means for performing the functions described in the flowchart block(s). These computer program instructions can also be stored in a computer-available or computer-readable memory that can direct a computer or other programmable data processing equipment to perform the functions in a specific manner, such that the instructions stored in the computer-available or computer-readable memory can produce an article of manufacture that includes instruction means for performing the functions described in the flowchart block(s). Since the computer program instructions may be installed on a computer or other programmable data processing device, a series of operational steps may be performed on the computer or other programmable data processing device to create a computer-executable process, and the instructions that cause the computer or other programmable data processing device to perform the steps for performing the functions described in the flowchart block(s) may also provide steps for performing the functions described in the flowchart block(s).
[0046] Additionally, each block may represent a module, segment, or portion of code that contains one or more executable instructions for performing a specific logical function(s). It should also be noted that in some alternative implementation examples, the functions described in the blocks may occur out of order. For example, two blocks depicted in succession may actually be executed substantially concurrently, or the blocks may sometimes be executed in reverse order, depending on their respective functions.
[0047] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings so that those skilled in the art can easily practice the present disclosure. However, the present disclosure may be implemented in various different forms and is not limited to the embodiments described herein. The method illustrated in FIG. 2, FIG. 4, FIG. 6, or FIG. 8 may be performed, for example, by a user terminal (110) or a server (120) described with reference to FIG. 11. The user terminal (110) or the server (120) is an exemplary device that provides information related to the item sales service in the present disclosure, and may be a single device, but depending on the embodiment, may be a system composed of multiple detailed devices that communicate with each other via a wired or wireless network.
[0048] Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a system including a user terminal according to one embodiment. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that, in addition to the components illustrated in Figure 1, other general-purpose components may be included.
[0049] Referring to FIG. 1, the system includes a user terminal (110), a server (120), and a network (130). The user terminal (110) and the server (120) can communicate with each other within the network (130). The network (130) includes a Local Area Network (LAN), a Wide Area Network (WAN), a Value Added Network (VAN), a mobile radio communication network, a satellite communication network, and a combination thereof, and is a comprehensive data communication network that allows each system component illustrated in FIG. 1 to communicate smoothly with each other, and may include a wired Internet, a wireless Internet, and a mobile radio communication network. Wireless communications may include, but are not limited to, wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), Bluetooth, Bluetooth low energy, Zigbee, WFD (Wi-Fi Direct), UWB (ultra wideband), infrared communication (IrDA, infrared Data Association), NFC (Near Field Communication), etc.
[0050] A user terminal (110) is a device that provides information to users of an item sales service. If the item sales service is provided through a website, it may be a user terminal accessible to the website. If the item sales service is provided through a dedicated application, it may be a user terminal with the application installed. Examples include smartphones, tablets, personal computers (PCs), laptops, etc.
[0051] A user accesses the item sales service through a user terminal (110). The user can log in to his / her account or use the item sales service as a non-member, and can obtain all information related to the item sales service through an output device (such as a display or speaker) provided on the user terminal (110) or an output device (such as a monitor) linked to the user terminal (110). In this regard, the user terminal (110) may generate or process information provided to the user using a computing device (such as a processor) included in the user terminal (110), but some information may be generated or processed by a server (120), transmitted to the user terminal (110), and then provided to the user. Whether the information is generated or processed by the user terminal (110) or the server (120) can be flexibly determined in consideration of resources for the service, service speed, service content, etc.
[0052] The server (120) is a device that hosts an item sales service, exchanges information with a user terminal (110) via a network (130), customizes the item sales service, and accesses a database inside / outside the server (120) to update information about items being sold periodically or in real time. When the provider of the item sales service manages the entire logistics process, such as receiving, picking, sorting, issuing, shipping, delivery, and returns of items, the server (120) may not be a single physical device, but may collectively refer to multiple devices that communicate physically or electronically.
[0053] In relation to the above, the following drawings will be used to explain in more detail.
[0054] FIG. 2 is a flowchart illustrating a method for providing information related to an item sales service according to one embodiment. While the method illustrated in FIG. 2 is described hereinafter as being performed by the user terminal (110) described above, this is merely exemplary. The method illustrated in FIG. 2 may also be performed by another device (e.g., a server (120)) or by a combination of the user terminal (110) and a separate device. This also applies to the methods illustrated in FIG. 4, FIG. 6, or FIG. 8, which will be described below.
[0055] In step S210, the user terminal (110) may receive input from the user regarding an add-to-cart interface on the detail page of the first item. In the present disclosure, the "detail page" collectively refers to a page that displays information such as the price, shipping method, and image for a specific item. The detail page can be accessed by selecting an item from any page within the service.
[0056] In step S220, in response to an input to the cart add interface, the user terminal (110) may display a first modal interface indicating that the first item has been added to the user's cart on the first item's detail page. The first modal interface may include a first area displaying a message and a graph interface indicating whether the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item has been met, and a second area displaying recommended items.
[0057] According to one embodiment, the first area of the first modal interface may display a bar-shaped graph interface corresponding to the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item. Furthermore, the graph interface may display an area corresponding to the total amount of items in the user's cart, including the first item, in an activated state, and an area corresponding to the remaining order amount in an inactive state. In the present disclosure, the remaining order amount may be defined as the difference between the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item and the total amount of items in the user's cart.
[0058] According to one embodiment, the message displayed in the first area of the first modal interface may include information regarding whether the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item has been met and information regarding the remaining order amount. In conjunction with the above-described embodiment, the area corresponding to the inactive state of the graph interface and the information regarding the remaining order amount within the message may be updated together.
[0059] According to one embodiment, in the first area of the first modal interface, if the total amount of items in the user's cart is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item, the graph interface may be hidden and a call-to-action (CTA) object linking to the user's cart page may be displayed. According to another embodiment, if the total amount of items in the user's cart is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item, the page displayed on the screen of the user terminal (110) may be switched from the first item's details page to the user's cart page at the same time as the first modal interface is closed.
[0060] According to one embodiment, the second area of the first modal interface may display items whose price is greater than or equal to the remaining order amount as recommended items. For example, the recommended items displayed in the second area may be sorted in descending order of price. As another example, the recommended items displayed in the second area may be selected items whose price is greater than or equal to the remaining order amount, excluding items that fall under the category of daily necessities. In this case, "daily necessities" are items that fall within a category predefined by the service provider, such as bottled water and toilet paper. The criteria for an item to be considered a daily necessities may vary depending on the embodiment, including the type of item, price, purchase frequency, and purchase cycle.
[0061] Figures 3a to 3c illustrate detailed page screens displaying a first modal interface. In addition to the first area (310) and the second area (320), the first modal interface (300) may include a CTA object for closing the first modal interface (300). In addition, although Figures 3a to 3c illustrate the first modal interface (300) in a bottom sheet format, the user interface (UI) format in which the first modal interface (300) is displayed may be set to various other formats, such as a pop-up window or a snack bar, in addition to a bottom sheet.
[0062] As illustrated in FIG. 3a, a first area (310) may display a message (“X delivery product can be purchased by adding 11,800 won”) and a graph interface (311) indicating whether the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item has been met, and a second area (320) may display information on recommended items to replace the first item or recommended items suitable for purchase together with the first item. Among these, the message and the graph interface (311) may adaptively change according to the total amount of items in the user’s cart. Referring to FIG. 3b, it can be seen that the message has changed (“X delivery product can be purchased by adding 500 won”) as two items have been added to the user’s cart, and the area corresponding to the activated state of the graph has also increased.
[0063] Additionally, the first area (310) of the first modal interface (300) may display an image (312) of the first item. This allows the user to easily check what items are currently in the user's cart, and compare the image of the recommended items displayed in the second area (320) with the image of the first item for reference when making a purchase. As illustrated in FIG. 3b, in addition to the first item corresponding to the current detailed page, the number of items in the user's cart may be displayed around the image (312) of the first item, and the total number of items in the user's cart, including the first item, may be displayed via a cart icon (330) on the detailed page.
[0064] Meanwhile, if the total amount of items in the user's cart is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount, a CTA object ("Go to Cart") (313) that links to the user's cart page may be displayed in the first area (310) of the first modal interface (300) instead of the message and graphic interface (311), as illustrated in FIG. 3c. In addition, according to an embodiment, if the total amount of items in the user's cart is less than the minimum order amount, text indicating that the first item is in the cart may be displayed in the first area (310), as illustrated in FIGS. 3a and 3b, and if the total amount of items in the user's cart is greater than or equal to the minimum order amount, text indicating that the items in the cart are available for delivery may be displayed in the first area (310), as illustrated in FIG. 3c.
[0065] However, at least some of the arrangement, color, size, and appearance of the visual elements that constitute the first modal interface (300) may be implemented in various ways depending on the embodiment.
[0066] Figure 4 is a flowchart illustrating an additional embodiment in which the first modal interface is closed.
[0067] In step S410, the user terminal (110) can receive input from the user for an add-to-cart interface on the detail page of the first item.
[0068] In step S420, in response to an input to the cart add interface, the user terminal (110) may display a first modal interface indicating that the first item has been added to the user's cart on the first item's detail page. The first modal interface may include a first area displaying a message and a graph interface indicating whether the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item has been met, and a second area displaying recommended items.
[0069] In step S430, the user terminal (110) may receive a close request for the first modal interface from the user.
[0070] In step S440, the user terminal (110) can display the message and graph interface displayed in the first area of the first modal interface at the top of the detail page. This is exemplified in FIGS. 5a and 5b.
[0071] Figures 5a and 5b illustrate detailed page screens with the first modal interface closed. When the first modal interface is closed at the user's request to close, the message and graph interfaces displayed in the first area of the first modal interface may be displayed in the form of a separate modal interface (520) at the top of the detailed page of the first item. The message and graph interfaces displayed in the first area of the first modal interface may also be displayed with their positions changed in the upper modal interface (520).
[0072] In addition, the position at which the modal interface (520) is displayed may change depending on the position at which the first modal interface is previously displayed. For example, if the first modal interface is provided in the form of a bottom sheet, the new modal interface (520) may be displayed at the top of the detail page. However, if the first modal interface was originally provided in the form of a snack bar at the top of the detail page, the new modal interface (520) may be displayed at the bottom of the detail page.
[0073] Meanwhile, the modal interface (520) may remain displayed while the user remains on the detail page. However, depending on the embodiment, it may disappear after a preset period of time has elapsed after being displayed. This prevents the modal interface (520) from continuously obscuring a portion of the detail page, thereby enhancing the convenience of service use.
[0074] The message and graph interface displayed in the modal interface (520) can also be adaptively changed according to the total amount of items in the user's cart. FIGS. 5A and 5B are examples of this. In FIG. 5A, as indicated by the cart icon (510), the user's cart contains two items, and as indicated by the modal interface (520), items worth more than 3,800 won must be added to the cart for the delivery service ("X delivery"). In FIG. 5B, as indicated by the cart icon (510), one more item is added to the cart, and as indicated by the modal interface (520), the minimum order amount for the delivery service is met, and thus, free delivery is possible.
[0075] Figure 6 is a flowchart illustrating an additional embodiment of transitioning to a search results page.
[0076] In step S610, the user terminal (110) can receive input from the user for an add-to-cart interface on the detail page of the first item.
[0077] In step S620, in response to an input to the cart add interface, the user terminal (110) may display a first modal interface indicating that the first item has been added to the user's cart on the first item's detail page. The first modal interface may include a first area displaying a message and a graph interface indicating whether the minimum order amount required for delivery of the first item has been met, and a second area displaying recommended items.
[0078] In step S630, the user terminal (110) may receive a request from the user to switch to a search results page (Search Result Page, SRP). In the present disclosure, the term "search results page" refers to a page that displays the results of searching for an item based on its name, category, attributes, etc. The request to switch to a search results page may take various forms, such as a keyword-based search request, a request to go back from a detailed page, or selecting a link referencing a search results page, but is not limited thereto.
[0079] In step S640, the user terminal (110) may display a search results page in response to the received conversion request. The search results page may display a message informing of benefits for at least some items among the multiple items displayed on the search results page that offer benefits for paid members of the item sales service. According to one embodiment, the message informing of benefits may be provided only when the account status of the user currently staying on the search results page is a free member or a non-member, or may be provided uniformly regardless of the user's account status. Benefits for paid members may be set in various ways by the service provider, and representative examples include free shipping, expedited shipping, discount coupon issuance, and discounted price application. This will be described with reference to FIGS. 7A and 7B below.
