Description

POWER CONTROL METHOD AND RELEVANT DEVICES

[0001] BACKGROUND OF DISCLOSURE

[0002] 1. Field of the Disclosure

[0003] The present application relates to the field of communication systems, and more particularly, to a power control method and relevant devices.2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] The 5G (fifth-generation) wireless systems are generally a multi-beam based system in FR2, where multiplex Tx and Rx analog beams are employed by BS (base station) and / or UE (user equipment) to combat the large path loss in high frequency band. In high frequency band system, for example mmWave systems, the BS and the UE are deployed with large number of antennas so that large gain beamforming can be used to defeat the large path loss and signal blockage. Due to the hardware limitation and cost, the BS and the UE might only be equipped with limited number of TXRUs (transmission and reception unit) . Therefore, hybrid beamforming mechanisms can be utilized in both BS and UE. To get the best link quality between the BS and the UE, the BS and the UE need to align the analog beam directions for particular downlink or uplink transmission. For downlink transmission, they need find the best pair of BS Tx beam and UE Rx beam while for uplink transmission, they need to find the best pair of UE Tx beam and BS Rx beam.

[0005] For uplink transmission, the UE can transmit some SRS (sounding reference signal) to train the channel state of uplink channel. The UE can transmit SRS resource with different usage for different purpose, which include the following different SRS usage:

[0006] - SRS resource for beam management: the SRS resource for beam management can be used to sweep the UE uplink transmit beam and thus to obtain beam alignment for uplink transmission.

[0007] - SRS resource for codebook-based transmission or non-codebook based transmission: the SRS resource for codebook-based transmission or non-codebook based transmission is used by the system to obtain the CSI (channel state information) of uplink transmission and then obtain the best precoder, RANK and CQI (channel quality indicator) for uplink PUSCH transmission.

[0008] - SRS resource for antenna switching: the SRS resource with this usage is by the UE to train DL channel with less number of Tx antennas.

[0009] For each SRS resource, the BS (e.g., gNB) can provide the following parameters for uplink transmission:

[0010] - A parameter to indicate the information of uplink transmit beam: each SRS resource can be provided higher layer parameter spatialRelationInfo, which contains the ID of one reference RS. The reference RS can be an SSB (synchronization signal block) , CSI-RS (channel state information reference signal) resource or an SRS resource.

[0011] - Parameters for uplink power control: the uplink power control parameters are configured per SRS resource set. In other word, all the SRS resources contained in one SRS resource set share the same parameters of uplink power control. For one SRS resource set, the system can provide the pathloss RS, open power control parameter P0, alpha and closed loop index for closed loop power control.

[0012] The uplink power control function is supported for SRS and the UE can be requested to calculate the SRS transmission power for SRS with including on SRS power control adjustment state. The system can configure two PUSCH power control adjustment states for PUSCH transmission: i0 and i1, which can be called closed loop index for PUSCH. The system can configure one dedicated SRS power control adjustment state for SRS transmission, i.e., the closed loop index for SRS. The system can indicate that a SRS source shall follow which of the i0, i1 or the SRS power control adjustment state for SRS transmission.

[0013] In the existing system design, there is only one dedicated power control adjustment state for SRS transmission. Thus, in some deployment scenarios, the SRS transmission would have to use one of the PUSCH power control adjustment states which are configured for PUSCH transmission. That would cause trouble and difficulty to some deployment scenarios and thus it could limit the deployment of cellular communication systems.SUMMARY

[0040] FIG. 2 illustrates a power control method 100 by a terminal device according to an embodiment of the present application. In some embodiments, the method 100 includes the following. In Block 102, the terminal device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) is configured by a network device (e.g., a base station or gNB) with a first physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) power control adjustment state and a second PUSCH power control adjustment state for PUSCH transmission. For each of the power control adjustment states, PUSCH power control calculation is separated, that is, each power control adjustment state may correspond to a different power adjustment for PUSCH transmission. The first and the second PUSCH power control adjustment states may correspond to a first PUSCH close loop and a second PUSCH close loop, respectively. In Block 104, the terminal device is configured by the network device with a first sounding reference signal (SRS) power control adjustment state and a second SRS power control adjustment state for SRS transmission. For each of the power control adjustment states, SRS power control calculation is separated, that is, each power control adjustment state may correspond to a different power adjustment for SRS transmission. The first and the second SRS power control adjustment states may correspond to a first SRS close loop and a second SRS close loop, respectively.

[0041] In Block 106, based on one or more signalings from the network device, the terminal device determines a target SRS power control adjustment state by following one of the first SRS power control adjustment state and the second SRS power control adjustment state or one of the first PUSCH power control adjustment state and the second PUSCH power control adjustment state. In an illustrated example, the one or more signalings may be a joint transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state or an uplink (UL) TCI state containing UL power control parameters for SRS transmission. In another illustrated example, the one or more signalings may be a high layer parameter (e.g., a parameter carried by radio resource control (RRC) signaling) together with the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state. For example, the terminal device may receive the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state containing UL power control parameters for SRS transmission, and the UL power control parameters for SRS transmission contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state have one parameter of close loop index. The target SRS power control adjustment state may be determined based on the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state. For another example, the terminal device may receive the high layer parameter and later receive the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state from the network device. The target SRS power control adjustment state may be determined based on the high layer parameter and the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state.

[0042] In Block 108, the terminal device adjusts transmission power of a SRS resource based on the determined target SRS power control adjustment state. Once the target power control adjustment state is determined, the terminal device may perform power control calculation according to the target power control adjustment state and then determine how much power should be adjusted for the SRS transmission. If the first SRS power control adjustment state (which corresponds to the first SRS close loop) is determined to be the target power control adjustment state, the SRS transmission is associated with the first close loop for SRS power control; and if the second SRS power control adjustment state (which corresponds to the second SRS close loop) is determined to be the target power control adjustment state, the SRS transmission is associated with the second close loop for SRS power control. If the first PUSCH power control adjustment state (which corresponds to the first PUSCH close loop) is determined to be the target power control adjustment state, the SRS transmission is associated with the first close loop for PUSCH power control (that is, PUSCH power control is applied in determining power adjustment for the SRS transmission) ; and if the second PUSCH power control adjustment state (which corresponds to the second PUSCH close loop) is determined to be the target power control adjustment state, the SRS transmission is associated with the second close loop for PUSCH power control (that is, PUSCH power control is applied in determining power adjustment for the SRS transmission) .

[0043] In short, an additional dedicated power control adjustment state is provided for the SRS transmission in comparison to only one dedicated power control adjustment state for SRS transmission in existing design. With two SRS power control adjustment states configured for the SRS transmission, the flexibility of deployment of cellular communication systems is enhanced, and also the deployment scenarios can be expanded.

[0044] In some embodiments, when the first PUSCH power control adjustment state and the second PUSCH power control adjustment state are configured, a first close loop index for PUSCH power control and a second close loop index for PUSCH power control are provided; and when the first SRS power control adjustment state and the second SRS power control adjustment state are configured, a first close loop index for SRS power control and a second close loop index for SRS power control are provided. If the high layer parameter is set to a first parameter (e.g., ‘separateClosedLoop’ ) and if the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state is set to a first index (e.g., ‘i0’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the first close loop index for SRS power control; and if the high layer parameter is set to the first parameter (e.g., ‘separateClosedLoop’ ) and if the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state is set to a second index (e.g., ‘i1’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the second close loop index for SRS power control. If the high layer parameter is set to a second parameter (e.g., ‘sameAsFci2’ ) different from the first parameter (e.g., ‘separateClosedLoop’ ) or is not configured and if the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state is set to the first index (e.g., ‘i0’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the first close loop index for PUSCH power control; and if the high layer parameter is set to the second parameter (e.g., ‘sameAsFci2’ ) and if the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state is set to the second index (e.g., ‘i1’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the second close loop index for PUSCH power control.

[0045] In some embodiments, if the high layer parameter is set to a first parameter (e.g., ‘separateClosedLoop’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the first close loop index for SRS power control; and if the high layer parameter is set to a third parameter (e.g., ‘2ndseparateClosedLoop’ ) different from the first parameter (e.g., ‘separateClosedLoop’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the second close loop index for SRS power control. If the high layer parameter is set to a second parameter (e.g., ‘sameAsFci2’ ) different from the first parameter (e.g., ‘separateClosedLoop’ ) and the third parameter (e.g., ‘2ndseparateClosedLoop’ ) or is not configured and if the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state is set to a first index (e.g., ‘i0’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the first close loop index for PUSCH power control; and if the high layer parameter is set to the second parameter (e.g., ‘sameAsFci2’ ) and if the parameter of close loop index contained in the joint TCI state or the UL TCI state is set to a second index (e.g., ‘i1’ ) , the SRS transmission is associated with the second close loop index for PUSCH power control.

[0046] FIG. 3 illustrates a power control method 200 by a network device according to an embodiment of the present application. In some embodiments, the method 200 includes the following. In Block 202, the network device configures a terminal device with a first physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) power control adjustment state and a second PUSCH power control adjustment state for PUSCH transmission. In Block 204, the network device configures the terminal device with a first sounding reference signal (SRS) power control adjustment state and a second SRS power control adjustment state for SRS transmission. In Block 206, the network device transmits one or more signalings to the terminal device for the terminal device to determine a target SRS power control adjustment state by following one of the first SRS power control adjustment state and the second SRS power control adjustment state or one of the first PUSCH power control adjustment state and the second PUSCH power control adjustment state. In Block 208, the network device receives a SRS resource from the terminal device with transmission power adjusted based on the determined target SRS power control adjustment state. With two SRS power control adjustment states configured for SRS transmission, this can enhance the flexibility of deployment of cellular communication systems and expand the deployment scenarios. Other details of the method 200 may be referred to the method 100 described above and are not repeated herein.

[0053] If the parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is not set to ‘separateClosedLoop’ , i.e., the srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is set to ‘sameAsFci2” or the parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is not configured, the UE can be requested to determine the close loop for SRS power control as follows:

[0054] ○ If the parameter closedLoopIndex contained in the joint TCI state or UL TCI state indicated to the SRS resource is set to ‘i0’ , the UE shall assume the SRS transmission shall be associated with the first close loop index for PUSCH power control.

[0055] ○ If the parameter closedLoopIndex contained in the joint TCI state or UL TCI state indicated to the SRS resource is set to ‘i1’ , the UE shall assume the SRS transmission shall be associated with the second close loop index for PUSCH power control.

[0057] The UE can be provided with one or more SRS resource sets and each SRS resource set can include one or more SRS resources. For each SRS resource set, the UE can be provided with one RRC parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates, which can take values of ‘sameAsFci2’ , ‘separateClosedLoop’ or ‘2ndseparateClosedLoop” . Please note here: the value ‘2ndseparateClosedLoop’ is a new added value in comparison with the afore-described embodiment. The UE can be indicated with one joint TCI state or UL TCI state for one SRS resource. The UE can be requested to determine the SRS power adjustment state according to the value of the RRC parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates and the SRS power control parameters contained in the joint TCI state or UL TCI state indicated to the SRS resource as follows:

[0058] If the parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is set to ‘separateClosedLoop’ ,

[0059] ○ the UE shall assume the SRS transmission shall be associated with the first close loop index for SRS power control.

[0060] If the parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is set to ‘2ndseparateClosedLoop’ ,

[0061] ○ the UE shall assume the SRS transmission shall be associated with the second close loop index for SRS power control.

[0062] If the parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is not set to ‘separateClosedLoop’ or ‘2ndseparateClosedLoop’ , in other words, if the srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is set to ‘sameAsFci2” or the parameter srs-PowerControlAdjustmentStates is not configured, the UE can be requested to determine the close loop for SRS power control as follows:

[0063] ○ If the parameter closedLoopIndex contained in the joint TCI state or UL TCI state indicated to the SRS resource is set to ‘i0’ , the UE shall assume the SRS transmission shall be associated with the first close loop index for PUSCH power control.

[0064] ○ If the parameter closedLoopIndex contained in the joint TCI state or UL TCI state indicated to the SRS resource is set to ‘i1’ , the UE shall assume the SRS transmission shall be associated with the second close loop index for PUSCH power control.
