A high-stability shift circuit using amorphous silicon thin film transistors, which utilizes two out-of-phase pulses to control the operating mechanism and the bias-relations among transistors in the shift circuit. This makes the transistors under the driving conditions of positive/negative-alternating biases so as to restrain the voltage shift of the transistors such that the threshold voltage will not excessively increase along with the increasing operating time. This can not only increase the lifetime of the amorphous silicon thin film transistors but also extend the operating time of the shift circuit.

A system is disclosed for programming non-volatile storage that improves performance by setting the starting programming voltage to a first level for fresh parts and adjusting the starting programming voltage as the memory is cycled. For example, the system programs a set of non-volatile storage elements during a first period using an increasing program signal with a first initial value and subsequently programs the set of non-volatile storage elements during a second period using an increasing program signal with a second initial value, where the second period is subsequent to the first period and the second initial value is different than the first initial value.

A shift register circuit comprises a plurality of stages, each stage being for providing an output signal to an output load and comprising a pull up transistor for pulling the output signal up to a high voltage rail and a pull down transistor for pulling the output signal down to a low voltage rail. An image sensor and offset-able reference voltage generator thereof are provided. The image sensor comprises a plurality of pixels, an offset-able reference voltage generator and a pixel sampling circuit. The pixel senses light from an image and generate an image signal. The offset-able reference voltage generator provides a reference voltage having a voltage offset. The pixel sampling circuit is coupled to the pixels and the offset-able reference voltage generator to sample the image signal and generate a pixel signal according to the reference voltage.
