Devices for waterless sebum removal

Abstract

Devices (6,7,8,9,11a,12a,13,29) for waterless removal of sebum from a subject. A device (6,7,8,9,11a,12a,13,29) includes a head (7a,8g,9a,13b,29a )having an air duct (13n) and hollow tines (29b) fluidly connected with the air duct (13n). The air duct (13n) and the hollow tines (29b) allow passage of a heated airflow therethrough. As the heated airflow contacts sebum, it warms and softens the sebum to facilitate removal from the subject. Devices (6,7,8,9,11a,12a,13,29) can make practical use of a Bernoulli effect to increase flow rate of the air passing through the hollow tines (29b) for displacing sebum from the subject. Devices (6,7,8,9,11a,12a,13,29) can also include absorbent substrates (8i,8j,11b,11c), sensors (7h,29c), and control circuitry for smart management of operation of the device, such as control of mode of operation of the device (6,7,8,9,11a,12a,13,29), to ensure efficacy of sebum removal without causing damage to the subject's hair or scalp.
