A system for direct injection of selected thermal-infrared (IR) wavelength radiation or energy into food items for a wide range of processing purposes is provided. These purposes may include heating, raising or maintaining the temperature of the food articles. The system is especially applicable to operations that require or benefit from the ability to irradiate at specifically selected wavelengths or to pulse or inject the radiation. The system is particularly advantageous when functioning at higher speeds and in a non-contact environment with the target.

This invention is directed to systems, devices and methods for treating organic-containing sludges and converting such sludges to high value fertilizers containing both inorganic and organic fertilizer components, which creates an inorganically-augmented bioorganic fertilizer. The invention describes methods to create a thixotrophic or paste-like material via the application of mixing energy to the organic sludge followed by an alkaline treatment and a subsequent ammoniation. The invention further describes a method to increase the plant nutrient content in the organic containing product to a level which permits the finished granular fertilizer product to compete in the commercial agricultural fertilizer marketplace. Further, the invention reduces odors associated with said organic-containing sludges.

In brief, the present invention is directed to a method for conditioning hair which comprises: (a) applying to hair a leave-on composition comprising: (1) a nonvolatile, silicone conditioning agent; (2) a resin; and (3) a carrier; (b) applying heat via a heating appliance to the composition treated hair to dry or style the hair and wherein a reduction in the bending modulus caused by the silicone conditioning agent is at least 1.00%, even when offset by an increase in bending modulus caused by the presence of a resin, and wherein the method of the invention results in the deposition on the hair of at least 30 ug silicone/1 g of hair.

The present invention relates to a hair iron adapted to reduce hair damage, strengthen hair and facilitate hair styling by blowing air toward the hair. The hair iron of the present invention is further adapted to provide hair with anions or moisture during hair styling. The hair iron includes a pair of cases hinge-jointed at each one end and being freely opened or closed, wherein each case has a heater plate for generating heat at the other end. A fan assembly for blowing air is coupled to the one end of one of the cases. An air passage through which the blown air is passed is formed inside the hair iron. An anion generator is located in the fan assembly, thereby mixing the anions with the air being transferred. Means for providing moisture is disposed adjacent to the heater plate and means for supplying the moisture-providing means with water is received in the recess formed in lower side of the case. Further, the present invention relates to a hair iron constructed without a power cord so as to be utilized without any spatial restriction while possessing all the functions of the hair iron.

A portable, collapsible radiant heater includes a base and a support mounted to the base. The support has a collapsed position wherein the base is configured to at least partially receive the support, and an extended position wherein the support extends upwardly from the base. A heater-head for generating radiant heat is connected to the support. A reflector is mounted to one of the heater-head and the support. The reflector at least partially surrounds the heater-head for downwardly reflecting radiant heat generated by the heater-head.
