Abstract
Description
NETWORK CONNECTED ELECTRONIC LOCK SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USING THE SAMEFIELD
[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to a network connected electronic lock system, and more particularly to a network connected electronic lock system having a network connected electronic lock system server, and methods of using the network connected electronic lock system.BACKGROUND
[0002] Currently, large retail store chains and bank branch offices have large number of safes and / or safety deposit boxes having traditional mechanic locks. It is very difficult and cumbersome to manage these locks on the safes and safety deposit boxes. These mechanical lock’s keys are easy to duplicate and the safety of the contents in the safe deposit box is not guaranteed. These mechanical locks have slowly been replaced with electronic locks, but they are not network connected, and management of individual electronic lock locally is still difficult and cumbersome. For example, when a new customer needs a new safety deposit box, we need to add a user to a lock of the safety deposit box, with sometime one-line small screen, it is very time consuming to add a new user, so is to remove an existing user. It will be even more difficult to operate in dual-mode where the safety deposit box may be opened only when an authorized user and a bank employee are both present. Many safety deposit boxes are only allowed to open during normal business hours, and such restriction governed with a time table. Programming such time table to hundreds of individual lock is very difficult locally on these locks, and once it is programmed, it will be very difficult to change. Monitoring entire safety deposit boxes’ operational status, monitoring who opens which safety deposit box at what time, are very time consuming and difficult to manage. Current safety deposit box locks are unable to provide push notification to alert the owner that the safety deposit box has been opened by someone and when. Current safety deposit box locks will not be able to support one time access by someone authorized by the owner, and system manager of the bank are not allowed to operate the safety deposit box remotely. It is desirable to have a network connected electronic lock system that is easy to manage, to add / remove users, to monitor the operational status of the electronic locks, to monitor the users’ usages and history, and to globally change time table for all electronic locks under management, to provide real-time alert to the owner and bank management staff, and allow system manager of the bank to remotely operate the safety deposit boxes.
[0003] Therefore, heretofore unaddressed needs still exist in the art to address the aforementioned deficiencies and inadequacies.SUMMARY
