Abstract
A floc generator includes an electrode spacer having a hollow cavity, electrodes arranged within the hollow cavity, and a conductive rod. Each electrode has a first end portion having a first hole and a second end portion having a second hole, the first hole having smaller diameter than the second hole. The electrodes are arranged in alternating fashion. The rod contacts the first holes and passes through the second holes without contacting the second holes such that the first set operates as cathodes. The electrodes not having the first holes contact the conductive rod define a second set of electrodes and operate as anodes. The anodes and cathodes cause ions in a fluid passing over the electrodes to migrate towards the electrodes and collide with other particles in the fluid to form larger aggregates which can be removed from the fluid.
