Abstract
Description
[0001] SHIELD SUPPORT
[0002] DESCRIPTION
[0003] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention relates to a support for a personal protection shield.
[0005] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0006] Currently, we know of personal protection shields, which consist of a portion that is resistant to impacts—such as impacts from projectiles (bullets) or other types of weapons—and which have a corresponding handle on the inside, by means of which the user holds it in the appropriate position to protect their body.
[0007] These shields are bulky, and often their handling requires forcing the arm into unsuitable positions, seeking the most protective position, especially considering the weight of the shield itself, which is solved with the support of the invention.
[0008] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The shield support of the invention is of the type comprising a grip handle attached to the shield by its inner face; and according to the invention it also comprises: - a first sector fixed to the inner face of the shield, - a second sector where the handle is implemented,
[0010] -a first rotation joint, with an axis perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the shield, which is rotatably connecting the first sector with the second sector, and -means of releasable locking of the rotation of the first joint.
[0011] In this way, a rotating support is configured on which the rest of the grip elements, mainly the handle, will rest. This rotating support allows a 360° rotation. eThe shield's rotation relative to the handle allows for use by both right- and left-handed users, as well as changing from vertical to horizontal or oblique position, allowing the different arm muscles involved in carrying the shield to rest and adapt to the needs of the shield operator. The shield's rotation action will be locked or released by the action of the releasable locking means. It even allows for 360° rotation. e .
[0012] Therefore, the invention provides the following advantages:
[0013] -Possibility of being able to be used interchangeably by right-handed or left-handed people.
[0014] -By rotating the shield we could use parts of the shields that come with different configurations (use in narrow spaces, such as parapets, etc.).
[0015] -Resting muscle groups involved in a particular grip simply by changing the grip angle at the time.
[0016] -More convenient shield storage, in versions where the grip can be detached.
[0017] -Exchange grips between shields that have the appropriate anchoring system.
[0018] -Adaptable to different arm sizes, as well as the height of the support relative to the operator, to make the shield higher or lower, depending on what is needed at that time.
[0019] -Possibility of operating the different electronic systems that need to be used (flashlight, PA system, etc.) from the handle area.
[0020] The materials would have to be robust enough to prevent the shield from becoming unusable due to a broken hinge. They would have to be resistant to corrosion and excessive wear, while also not adding excessive weight to the shield and grip assembly, as this is borne by the shield operator.
[0021] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0022] Figure 1 shows a view of the inner face of a shield on which the support of the invention is mounted.
[0023] Figure 2 shows a partial detail of the way the support is fixed to the inner face of the shield, where the support itself has been removed for better appreciation, and where a detail of one of the fixing pieces to the edge of the inner face of the shield appears.
[0024] Figures 3 and 4 show perspective views of the support of the invention, with the handle sections in the open and closed positions. Figures 5 and 6 show a side view of the support of the invention, with the locking means released and engaged, respectively, during handling of the shield.
[0025] Figures 7 and 8 show views of the means for locking the support of the invention, without the rest of the support elements for better appreciation, in the released and locked positions respectively.
[0026] Figures 9 to 11 show an embodiment of the first electrically controlled locking joint, which integrates the sectors and an electrically connected slip ring.
[0027] DESCRIPTION OF A PRACTICAL EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0028] The support (1) for the shield (2) of the invention is of the type comprising a grip handle (3) attached to the shield (2) by its inner face, and according to the invention it also comprises (see figs. 3-8):
[0029] -a first sector (11) fixed to the inner face of the shield (2),
[0030] -a second sector (12) with the handle (3),
[0031] -a first rotation joint (13), with an axis perpendicular to the shield, which is rotatably connecting the first sector (11) with the second sector (12), and -means of releasable locking of the rotation of the first joint (13).
[0032] Preferably, (see figs. 7 and 8) the locking means of the first joint (13) comprise a circular gear (14) integral with the first sector (11), and a bolt (15) (which in this example is rack-shaped) integral with the second sector (12); comprising a control for engaging or disengaging the bolt (15) with the gear (14). It is preferred that the control comprises a lever (16) adjacent to the handle (3), and very preferably parallel to the handle (3) as seen in figs. 3 to 6, acting directly (mechanically) on the bolt (15). This allows locking and unlocking to be carried out with the same hand that handles the shield, as shown in figs. 5 and 6, leaving the other free to carry tools, such as a gun, extendable, laser, etc.The invention also comprises that the control for engaging or disengaging the bolt (15) with the gear (14) comprises an electric control that activates a solenoid and this is the one that moves the retaining piece of the gear, or a hydraulic control that moves the bolt. It is also preferred that the handle (3) comprises two aligned half-handles (30) (see figs. 3 and 4), joined at their ends to a base (31) by means of second joints (32), and comprising second interlocks (33) of the second joints (32) that allow them to be fixed in an aligned position, configuring the handle, or to release them to facilitate the release of the handle, or to rotate and lock the half-handles (30) at any angle. Note that the control for engaging or disengaging the bolt (15) with the gear (14) (lever or electric or hydraulic control) can be arranged adjacent to either of the two half-handles (30), or to both half-handles (30) so that it can be operated by both right-handed and left-handed people. However, the invention also covers the possibility of the handle being a single piece attached to the base instead of two half-handles.
[0033] Additionally, the support of the invention may comprise a bracelet (5) attached to the base (31) by means of a removable and distance-adjustable fastener (50); the bracelet (5) comprising an adjustable forearm strap (52) provided with a quick-release handle. This improves the handling of the shield by having the help of the forearm at will. The bracelet (5), attached to the base (31) by means of the removable fastener (50), makes this piece removable from the assembly. It will allow the operator's arm to be fixed to the movements of the shield, providing ease of handling during manipulation. The bracelet (5) will have an angle such that it allows two things:
[0034] -separate the shield from the forearm, correcting the angulation error caused by physics itself: due to the weight of the shield, it will try to stick to the operator's forearm.
[0035] -avoid transfer of trauma caused by the impact of a high-speed projectile on the shield since the arm itself was not resting on the surface of the shield.
[0036] It is preferred that the strap (52) be attached to the rest of the bracelet (5) through a rotation axis (51) perpendicular to the removable fixing (50), so that the clamp can accompany the movements of the arm in the different circumstances that occur.
[0037] The support may comprise braces (6) adjustable in length and angle (see figs. 1 and 2) that are located joining the first sector (11) to the perimeter of the inner face of the shield (2) by means of fixings (6a). This allows it to be incorporated into any shield using this type of anchoring, or the support may be integrated into the shield during manufacturing, securing the first sector (11) to the inner face of the shield in a monobloc configuration (i.e. non-removable, factory-made: welded, riveted, etc.). Finally, it should be noted that a slip ring (54) of rotating electrical connections between the first sector (11) and the second sector (12) of the support may be implemented in the first joint (13). This will allow the shield to rotate and the connection cables for the flashlight, equipment, etc., not to become coiled and unusable.Specifically, in figures 9 to 11 the first joint can be seen, which integrates the sectors (11, 12), the gear (14) and the electrical power supply wire (58) of the bolt (15), as well as the cables (55, 59) that are connected through the collector ring (54).
[0038] Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention, as well as the manner of its implementation in practice, it should be noted that the provisions indicated above and represented in the attached drawings are susceptible to modifications in detail as long as they do not alter the fundamental principle.
