Abstract

A scaffold node adaptor that increases the height of a fixed scaffold node connection point. The scaffold node is one solid piece. The scaffold node has a node body that aligns with another fixed node for compatibility and a node extension that inserts into the fixed node to guide and align the scaffold node adaptor and the fixed scaffold node. The scaffold node adaptor gives an increase in height for any compatible horizontal item that connects successfully. Multiple scaffold node adaptors can potentially be used in various positions to increase guard rail heights, deck heights and head clearance but is not limited to these.

Description

[0001] SCAFFOLD NODE ADAPTOR - DESCRIPTION

[0002] BACKGROUND

[0003] Scaffolding has been required for millennia for the safe construction of many structures. Many scaffolding today are modular, and components are fabricated of set dimensions to allow fast and effective installation and dismantling during construction.

[0004] Currently, there are many types of scaffold adaptors that add to the effectiveness of modular scaffolding. The modular scaffolding system, Kwikstage, is used extensively throughout the construction industry. The Kwikstage modular system comprises of a vertical node system with horizontal items with nose and movable wedge to secure their connection at both ends.

[0005] The Scaffold Node Adaptor inherits the shape of the Kwikstage node for compatibility and an additional tongue that inserts into an adjacent Kwikstage node. This extends the height of the node it is inserted into increasing the versatility of the Kwikstage node connection.

[0006] SUMMARY

[0007] The present application provides a scaffold adaptor. The structure is simple, it is small within Kwikstage components, it has a V-shaped Kwikstage node shape and insert extension.

[0008] The Scaffold Node Adaptor is one piece. The adaptor shape includes a V-shaped Kwikstage node body and an extension that is shaped plum to the inside walls of any fixed Kwikstage node. A compatible fixed Kwikstage node has a V-shaped plan and welded to an adjoining 48.3mm pipe of 3- 4mm.

[0009] The body of the adaptor serves to sit on top of any fixed V-shaped Kwikstage node to extend its height. The adaptors Kwikstage node shape extends any member of the same V-shape.

[0010] The extension of the adaptor is guided by any adjacent fixed V-shaped Kwikstage node. The extension fits the internal walls of any fixed V-shaped Kwikstage node.

[0011] In the inserted state, all Kwikstage horizontal components with nose and wedge are compatible. When the extension is inserted into the top of a fixed V-shaped Kwikstage node, the adaptor body sits on top.

[0023] DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0024] The embodiments of the present application are described in detail below. Examples of the embodiments are shown in the accompanying drawings, in which the same or similar reference numerals indicate the same or similar elements with the same or similar functions. The following embodiments described with reference to the drawings are exemplary, and are only to explain the present application, and cannot be understood as a limitation to the present application.

[0025] In the description of the present application, it should be understood that the terms "plan", "front", "side", etc, indicate the orientation, which is only in order to facilitate the description of the present application and simplify the description, it does not indicate or imply that the adaptor referred to must have a specific orientation, and therefore cannot be understood as a limitation of the present application.

[0026] In the embodiments of the present application, the same reference numeral is used to denote the same part. For the same part in the embodiment of the present application, only one of the parts or components may be labelled as an example in the figure. With reference to signs, the reference signs are also applicable to other identical parts or components.

[0027] FIG. 1 is a schematic view of the overall structure of the node adaptor. The adaptor body (110) and extension (120) are directly fixed together or are considered one piece.

[0028] FIG. 2 is a plan view or birds eye view of the node adaptor. The adaptor body (110) shows the Kwikstage node shape typical and compatible with the Kwikstage scaffold modular system. The adaptor body (110) is in a V-shape form with a total length of approximately 95mm and a thickness of between 3 to 4mm. The adaptor body (110) is a 6.25mm line, to a 32mm line at 168 degree angle, to a 7mm diameter semi-circle of 19mm length achieving a 25 degree angle change, continuing a 32mm line and finishing with a 6.25mm line at 168 degree angle. The adaptor body (110) is symmetrical in plan view.

[0029] FIG. 2 of the node adaptor shows the adaptor node extension (120). The node extension (120) is positioned internally of the node adaptor body (110) in the plan view. The node adaptor extension (120) and node adaptor body (110) are fixed together. The node extension (120) is shaped to the proper insertion of a Kwikstage horizontal member (See FIG. 6).

[0030] FIG. 3 of the node adaptor is a front elevation view. The node body (110) is 19mm in height and 31.5mm in side-to-side coverage. The node extension (120) is 50 to 59mm in height, 17mm in side- to-side coverage, and extends from the top and flush of the node body (110).

[0031] FIG. 4 of the node adaptor is a side elevation view. The node body (110) is 19mm in height and 45mm in side-to-side coverage. The node extension (120) is 50 to 59mm in height, 20 to 35mm in side-to-side coverage, and extends from the top and flush of the node body (110).

[0032] FIG. 5 is a schematic view of the node adaptor in the inserted position to an adjacent fixed V-shaped node (130) of a Kwikstage vertical standard. The node body (110) sits on top of the fixed V-shaped node (130) and following the same profile line in parallel. The node extension (120) extends into the fixed V-shaped node (130) sitting flush and snug within and following the inside line of the fixed V- shaped node (130). The node extension (120) is a small V in shape in comparison to the fixed V- shaped node (130). FIG. 6 is a schematic view of the node adaptor in the inserted position (FIG. 5) and a Kwikstage horizontal member (140) installed. The nose of the horizontal member (140) is inside the node adaptor body (110) and the wedge of the horizontal member (140) is inside the node adaptor extension (120). The installation is tight and fixed by the friction of the nose, wedge and weight of the Kwikstage horizontal member (140). This achieves an extra height of 19mm for the Kwikstage horizontal member (140).
