Abstract

The present invention belongs to the field of methods and devices for playing casino games, more precisely to the field of devices and methods for playing roulette and similar games or derivatives thereof, which can be played as a casino table game or as a video or internet game. The invention relates to a game based on roulette and a method of playing said game. A conventional game of roulette has multiple winners only if everyone has bet on the same winning number or combination. The roulette game according to the invention can have multiple different bets and multiple different scores, since instead of one ball or arrow to mark the winning number or field, it uses two or more balls or arrows to mark the winning numbers or fields on one roulette wheel, where the game is played by at least two players who play against each other and not against the casino (house). The number of players is not limited upwards, and the number of balls or arrows can be at most one less than the total number of fields on the wheel. The game according to the invention thus allows for multiple winners and losers in a single game. Instead of a roulette wheel, a wheel of fortune or any other rotating body can be used, provided that the surface of the wheel with numbers and / or colors is divided into at least two surfaces. Like the number of players, the number of different surfaces is not limited upwards and can be adjusted according to the number of players playing the game.

Description

[0001] ROULETTE-BASED GAME AND METHOD OF PLAYING SAID GAME

[0002] Field of the invention

[0003] The present invention belongs to the field of methods and devices for playing computer games, more precisely to the field of devices and methods for playing roulette and games similar to roulette, which may be played as a table game or as a video or internet game. The invention relates to a roulette-based game and a method of playing said game.

[0004] Background of the invention and the technical problem

[0005] Roulette is a casino game of chance. There are several types of roulette, such as French, American, mini and multi-player roulette, but the most common are French and American. The game is played by players placing bets on the fields, the croupier spins the roulette wheel, and then drops the ball counterclockwise, until the ball lands randomly in one of the numbered pockets, thereby determining the winning number or field. The goal of the game is to guess which number or color the ball will land on. Possible bets are black or red, odd or even numbers, numbers 1 -18 or 19-36, and numbers in columns.

[0006] The French roulette has 37 pockets (36 numbers and a zero), while the american roullete has 38 pockets (36 numbers, one number zero and one double zero). The numbers on the roulette are 1 to 36, coloured either red or black. In addition, the roulette wheel is provided with a green zero and a double zero in case of americal roulette. Players can bet on individual numbers, groups of numbers, colours or other combinations. The win at a single number bet is in case of French roulette 35:1 , while the win odds are 37:1 . Because the roulette is a popular game, the computer development resultet in several different online roulette games, which use the same logic as the roulette played in person, with the only difference being an arrow or a similar indicator for indicating the winning field, which replaces the ball used in live roulette.

[0007] The game of roulette is always played against the house, i.e. all players compete aginst the betting house and the winners are all those who have correctly predicted where the ball will stop, i.e. on which field (colour) and / or on which number. The technical problem solved by the present invention is development of alternative roulette games to make them more interesting and that will allow several different bets with different odds / risks.

[0008] Prior art

[0009] Some solutions solve the technical problem by combining different games and different components of games. For example, patent application US2008088086A1 describes a modified roulette game, wherein before every round of game several values are chosen and analysed. The selection of pre-determined playing cards is used to determ in the alues, which define the betting result. The method of playing said game comprises: dealing a set of common cards from a predetermined set of cards and using the predetermined common card (e.g. the last card dealt) to determine the outcome of all roulette bets.

[0010] Patent application US2005236767A1 discloses a gaming apparatus and method for playing various games. In one embodiment, the apparatus and method utilize 52 balls divided into 11 groups and a specialized roulette wheel having 52 pockets with assigned card values. The results of spinning such a roulette wheel with these balls create a plurality of five-card poker combinations and a two-card combination that can be used for the games of blackjack, baccarat, roulette and / or seven-card poker. Sevenball and two-ball versions using the same type of roulette wheel may also be used. In another embodiment, the 52 playing cards are divided into 11 groups to create a plurality of five-card combinations for poker, as well as a two-card combination that is useful for other games. In yet another embodiment, the 52 playing cards are divided into a plurality of two groups of cards, one or more of which may be useful for the game of blackjack, baccarat or roulette.

[0011] The present invention does not use cards or similar additional accessories, but is based entirely on the roulette wheel or a rotatable body with a surface with different marked fields.

[0012] Patent application WO2017091415A1 describes a solution for playing roulette, wherein the roulette wheel has two levels and two different balls, which are moved in their own levels, which increases the number of possible bets.

[0013] None of the said solutions is designed in a manner similar to the present invention.

[0014] Description of the solution to the technical problem

[0015] The present invention upgrades the existing solutions and enables several alternatives of playing roulette. The technical problem is solved as defined in independent claims, wherein the preferred embodiments are defined in dependent claims.

[0016] The game or the game device according to the invention is provided with:

[0017] - a surface divided to a plurality of fields, wherein the number of fields is the same as the number of players, wherein all fields have the same size, but differ in their colour, number or any other differentiating element provided on the field,

[0018] - one or more indicators for indicating one or more fields for determination of wins, wherein the surface and / or the indicator is configured to enable rotation around a central axis.

[0019] The game according to the invention can be in some embodiments performed as a live game with a roulette wheel or any other rotating body as described above, and at least one, two or more balls, arrows or other elements for indicating the winning number of field, respectively. In an alternative embodiment, the game according to the invention is an online game performed on a server connected through known telecommunication means, such as a game played on a website or an application of which the information system will operate through a remote server.

[0020] For the embodiment as a live game, the game comprises:

[0021] - a wheel with a surface as described above, the wheel being provided with an axis around which the wheel rotates,

[0022] - a housing in which the wheel is at least partially located,

[0023] - at least one indicator, which may be an arrow, a ball, a tab or any other element, wherein in the case of a ball, recesses or other suitable pockets are provided on the circumference of the wheel into which the ball may fall, indicating the final field determining the winnings, and wherein the indicator also acts as a rotation brake, allowing the rotation of the wheel and / or the indicator carrier to stop in a certain time.

[0024] In the case where the indicator is an arrow or a similar element, it may be mounted on a holder, which may or may not be rotatable. The rotatability of the holder with at least one indicator is necessary if the wheel is fixed.

[0025] For the embodiment as an online game, the game comprises:

[0026] - a computer-displayed surface as described above, which may or may not be rotatable,

[0027] - at least one indicator, which may be an arrow, a circle, a tab or any other element, with which one or more final fields for determining winnings are marked,

[0028] - a server for storing data and software for playing the game,

[0029] - a computer program adapted for: o controlling the rotation of the surface, the indicator or both, so that after rotation at least one indicator stops on a specific field, which defines the winnings according to the players' bets, o a computer program for controlling the execution of the game, i.e. registering players, determining the bet, determining the winnings in terms of winnings on the marked field or winnings on the unmarked field, and determining the winner or winners. The usual game of roulette has more winners only in case several players have placed their bet on the same number or combination. The roulette-based game according to the invention, on the other hand, allows several different bets and several different wins, as instead of one ball or indicator a plurality of balls or indicators is used, preferably two or more balls or indicators for indicating the winning numbers or fields on one roulette wheel, wherein the game is played by at least two players who play against each other and preferably not against the house.

[0030] The house (casino) may also be at least one of the players, who is / are treated the same as the other players. The number of players is not limited upwards, and the number of indicators, for example balls or arrows, can be at most one less than all the players or all the fields on the wheel, since the number of fields is equal to the number of players. Thus, the game according to the invention allows for multiple winners or losers in a single game. Instead of a roulette wheel, a wheel of fortune or any other rotating body can also be used, provided that the surface of the wheel with numbers and / or colors is divided into at least two surfaces. Like the number of players, the number of different surfaces is not limited upwards and can be adjusted depending on the number of players playing the game. Each player can also bet on more than one field on the surface, which also changes the amount of the bet that he must pay for several selected fields accordingly.

[0031] The game is played in such a way that the first player, before inviting the other player(s) to the game, can select a field, i.e. a number, color or other marking element on the surface of the rotating body, which he / she predicts will bring him / her victory. The player also determines the amount of the bet on the game (per spin) and determines the rules of the game (one winner / one loser, one winner / two losers, two winners / one loser, etc.). The game is played for real or imaginary prizes (real money, play money, etc.). When playing for real or imaginary prizes, the game can be played as a free game, which is played via a web application, as well as as a game that is downloaded to mobile devices and / or stationary computers as an application via the Internet, or as a game that is already downloaded to mobile devices and / or stationary computers by the manufacturer of the mobile device and / or computer. The game can also be played "live" for fun without stakes and prizes in any form on any dedicated or on electronic devices adapted for this purpose (roulette game, wheel of fortune game, etc.), or on simpler versions, such as table games. To determine the winner / s or loser / s, a tab (or several tabs) is used in the game, which is placed on the upper part of the body. With two players, one tab is used to determine the winner. With three or more players, several tabs are used to determine the winner / s, or as many tabs as the first player determines for the rule of the individual game (spin), but always in such a way that at least one tab is placed on the rotating body less than the areas on the body divided by numbers and colors. With three players, there can therefore be one or two tabs or balls, with four players from 1 to 3, with five players from 1 to 4, etc.

[0032] In case of playing the game live, the players gather and either the house, or one or all of the players, determine the bet amount and the rules of the game. Then, each player chooses their own field or fields to bet on. Depending on the number of players, the area and the number of fields on it are adjusted, as well as the number of indicators depending on the selected game rules.

[0033] The invention will be described in further detail based on exemplary embodiments and examples of plays and bets, wherein the described examples are not limiting. The invention will also be described based on figures, which show:

[0034] Figure 1 An embodiment where there are two players, which divides the surface into two parts, wherein in Figure 1 a the indicator is an arrow, and in Figure 1 b the indicator is a ball or circle

[0035] Figure 2 An embodiment, wherein three players are playing the game, resulting in the area divided into three parts, with one indicator in Figure 2a and two indicators in Figure 2b

[0036] Figure 3 An embodiment wherein the rotating body is a roulette wheel and there are three players, resulting in the surface divided into three parts, with one indicator in Figure 3a and two indicators in Figure 3b

[0037] Figure 4 An embodiment where there are five players, resulting in the surface being divided into five parts, with one indicator as shown in Figure 3a, two indicators as shown in Figure 3b, three indicators as shown in Figure 3c and four indicators as shown in Figure 3d

[0038] Figure 5 An embodiment where the rotating body is a roulette wheel and there are five players playing the game, resulting in the surface being divided into five parts, with one indicator as shown in Figure 4a, two indicators as shown in Figure 4b, three indicators as shown in Figure 4c and four indicators as shown in Figure 4d

[0039] The game or the device for playing the game according to the invention comprises:

[0040] - a surface S, divided into a plurality of fields 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, so that the number of fields matches the number of players, wherein all fields 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 have the same size, but differ in their number, colour or any other distinguishing element on the field,

[0041] - one or more indicators P arranged to indicate one or more winning fields, wherein the surface S and / or the indicator P are designed in a manner allowing rotation around a central axis.

[0042] The first embodiment 1 , which is shown in figure 1 , shows a game played by two players. On the surface S two fields are defined and one indicator is provided, wherein figure 1 a shows an arrow as an indicator, while figure 1 b shows a circle or a ball as the indicator. The rules of the game are defined by the first player or the organizer of the game. The amount of bets is always the same due to the betting ratio. All players see the bet of the other player, i.e. which number / colour they indicated.

[0043] For example, a bet on a game of $10 per player, the total sum of the bet with two players is $20. The tab on the rotating body determines the winner of the game (one rotation or spin). The winner of the game keeps his $10 and receives the other player's $10 ($10 + $10 = $20). The loser of the game loses his $10. The table below shows a summary of the results.

[0044] The embodiment 2, as shown in figures 2 and 3 shows a game played by three players. Consequently, the surface is divided into three fields on the rotating body, and one or two indicators are used. Figures shows the arrow, however, any other possible indicator as described above can be used. The rules of the game are defined by the first player, in case the rules for each game or spin is not determined in advance by the organiser of the game. The amount of paid bets is always the same.

[0045] In a possible example, a bet on a game of $10 per player, the total sum of the bet with three players is $30. A single tab on the rotating body determines the winner of the game (one rotation or spin). The winner of the game keeps his $10 and receives $20 from the other two player's ($10 + $10 + $10 = $30). The losers of the game each lose their $10. The table below shows a summary of the results.

[0046] In an another possible example, a bet on a game of $10 per player, the total sum of the bet with three players is $30. Two tabs on the rotating body determines the two loosers of the game (one rotation or spin). One winner of the game keeps his $10 and receives $20 from the other two player's ($10 + $10 + $10 = $30). The losers of the game each lose their $10. This example represents a riskier game, as there are more loosers than winners.

[0047] In a yet another possible example, a bet on a game of $10 per player, the total sum of the bet with three players is $30. Two tabs on the rotating body determines the two winners of the game (one rotation or spin). Two winners of the game keeps their $10 and split the $10 from the other player ($10 - 2 = $5 per player). The losers of the game each lose their $10. This example represents a less riskier game, as there are more winners than loosers. The table below shows a summary of the results.

[0048] The third embodiment shows a game played by five players. The surface on the rotating body is divided into five fields, wherein one, two, three or four tabs as indicators are used. The rules of the game are defined by the first player, in case the rules for each game or spin is not determined in advance by the organiser of the game. The amount of paid bets is always the same. Figures 4 and 5 show this situation.

[0049] In the example shown in Figure 4a and Figure 5a, one indicator is used, and there is one winner, that is, the one who guessed the field marked by the indicator. As a result, all losers lose their stake (bet), and the winner receives the bets of the losers. The table below shows this situation.

[0050] In the example shown in Figure 4b and Figure 5b, two indicators are used, and there are two winners, i.e. those who guessed the fields marked by the indicators. As a result, three losers lose their stake, and the winner splits the losers' stake. The table below shows this situation.

[0051] In the example shown in Figure 4c and Figure 5c, three indicators are used, and there are three winners, i.e. those who guessed the fields marked by the indicators. As a result, the two losers lose their stake, and the winners split the losers' stake. The table below illustrates this situation.

[0052] For example, in case of a bet $10 per player, the total amount of bets for five players is $50. The four tabs on the spinning body determine the four losers of the game (spin), as shown in Figure 4d and 5d. One winner of the game keeps his $10, and $40 from the other four players ($10 + $10 + $10 + $10 = $40). The four losers each lose their $10. This is a riskier game, as there are more losers than winners.

[0053] In another possible example, each player bets $10 and the total bet for five players is $50. The four tabs on the spinning body determine the four winners of the game (spin). The four winners each keep their $10, and split the $10 from the player who lost the game ($10 - 4 = $2.5 per player). The loser of the game loses their $10. This arrangement represents a lower-risk game, as there are more winners than losers. The table below illustrates this situation. A fourth possible embodiment, which is not shown in figures, is a game of ten players. The surface on the rotating body is divided into ten fields and the number of indicators is from one to nine. The rules of the game are defined by the first player, in case the rules for the game / spin are not already defined by the house (organiser of the game). The amount of the bets is always the same.

[0054] For example, if the bet is $10 per player, the total sum of the bet for ten players is $100. The nine tabs on the spinning body determine the 9 losers of the game (spin). The winner of the game keeps his $10, and $90 from the other 9 (9 x $10 = $90). Losers lose their $10 each. Such example represents a more risky game, because there are more losers than winners.

[0055] In another possible example, the bet is $10 per player and the total bet for ten players is $100. Nine tabs on the spinning body determine the nine winners of the game (spin). The nine winners of the game each keep their $10, and split $10 with the player who lost the game ($10 - 9 = $1.1 per player). The loser of the game loses his $10. This example represents a lower-risk game, as there are more winners than losers.

[0056] A fifth possible embodiment, which is not shown in figures, is a game of one hundred players. The surface on the rotating body is divided into one hundred fields and the number of indicators is from 1 to 99. The rules of the game are defined by the first player, in case the rules for the game / spin are not already defined by the house (organiser of the game). The amount of the bets is always the same.

[0057] For example, if the bet is $10 per player, the total sum of the bet for one hundred players is $1000. The 99 tabs on the spinning body determine the 99 losers of the game (spin). The winner of the game keeps his $10, and $990 from the other 99 (99 x $10 = $990). Losers lose their $10 each. Such example represents a more risky game, because there are more losers than winners. In another possible example, the bet is $10 per player and the total bet for one hundred players is $1000. 99 tabs on the spinning body determine the 99 winners of the game (spin). The 99 winners of the game each keep their $10, and split $10 with the player who lost the game ($10 - 99 = $0.10 per player). The loser of the game loses his $10. This example represents a lower-risk game, as there are more winners than losers.

[0058] In all embodiments, the game can be performed as a physical game (played in person) or as an online game, wherein the rules can be defined so that the first player:

[0059] - defines the number of players that may play the game,

[0060] - determines the number of winning players and the number of loosing players (betting ratio),

[0061] - as the first player, defines (bets) on the number or any other marker on the field of the rotating body, on which he assumes the indicator such as a ball will stop, and

[0062] - places his bet.

[0063] When playing for real money, it is mandatory that the player has a sufficient amount of funds deposited in the account, as the amount of the bet is transferred from the player's wallet to the bet at the same time. When playing for fake money within the game, the player can easily set a bet in the amount of the credit. The remaining players then join up to the indicated number of players and submit their bets.

[0064] In continuation, the preferred version of a web / internet game according to the invention will be described (a game using balls and pockets). The game is played online in such a way that the players always play against each other, where there may be one or more players, and the casino is treated as a normal player. The player on the online application in the "market" sees open "challenges" / games, which he can join if he / she agrees with the rules of the already open "challenges" / games. If there are no open games on the "market" that would be acceptable to him, the player opens a new game in such a way as to determine the rule of the individual game (spin), which must differ in at least one of the five rules from the already open "challenges" / games on the market and wait for players to fill the spots. If the player enters a rule for a new game that is the same as one of the already open "challenges" / games on the market, the application, when submitting a challenge / game to the market, informs the player about this via a web form (pop-up), that such a game is already open on the market and that he can easily join it. If the player agrees, the player is automatically added to such an already open game. If the player does not agree with this, his request for the newly opened challenge / game is cancelled. As long as the player opens a new game, he must determine the rules described above, the body will spin and it will automatically spin for a few seconds after filling all the slots. After stopping the rotating body and determining the winners / losers according to the rules of the individual game, the total winnings are divided among all the winners of the game. After finishing the game, all players get the opportunity to repeat the game under the same rules. If all the players agree, the game is repeated.
