[0002] This application generally relates to carriable pouches for pet walking and for storing pet walking accessories, and more specifically to belt bags, carrying pouches, and modular carrying case systems including such belt bags and carrying pouches.BACKGROUND

[0003] Pets have become increasingly integral in their involvement in our everyday lives, particularly as more public and private establishments embrace a pet-friendly atmosphere. The modern pet owner seeks a seamless integration of their beloved pets into daily activities, be it a leisurely walk, a shopping trip to the local market, or even within pet-friendly work environments. This growing trend in pet companionship has led to a surge in the demand for innovative pet products and accessories that can cater to the diverse and dynamic needs of pet ownership, both within and beyond the home.

[0004] Currently, there are many options for bags for storing and carrying pet accessories for pet walking. Some of these solutions attempt to provide sufficient organization for basic pet walking needs, but existing solutions often come with significant shortcomings that may hinder the seamless integration of pets into various aspects of our lives.

[0005] For example, traditional bags for carrying pet products and treats often lack specialized compartments for organizing multiple essential items like disposable sanitary bags, tennis balls, and / or pet treats. The absence of compartments thatfacilitate proper organization can lead to frustration and inconvenience during walks or trips, where quick access to these items is paramount.

[0006] Beyond pet-related supplies, pet owners may also need a place for their personal effects, such as smartphones, keys, credit cards, and cash. Existing bags designed for carrying pet products may not provide efficient storage solutions for both pet and personal items, leading to a user needing to carry multiple bags, or to compromise on what items to bring. A lack of defined storage for both pet and personal items can also lead to an increased risk of contamination of personal effects by the residue from pet treats, which often contain raw ingredients, oils, crumbs, and other substances that would be undesirable to mix with personal effects.

[0010] Pet owners seek a balance between functionality, portability, and ease of carry. Carrying bags are often limited in their attachment options and modularity. Pet owners require a bag that can affix naturally and comfortably onto the body in various positions, adapting to their unique needs and preferences for hands-free usage. Existing solutions do not offer this level of versatility or customizability.

[0011] It is desirable to have a modular carrying case set for pet walking and pet walking accessories, which provides both: efficient organization and security ofessential pet items (such as e.g. pet waste recovery bags, tennis balls, and / or pet treats); and efficient personal item management for items beyond pet-related supplies (such as e.g. smartphones, keys, credit cards, and cash) in a manner that would inhibit or prevent such personal items from becoming contaminated by pet treats (or other pet items).

[0012] It is also desirable to have a modular carrying case set that allows a pet owner to attach a pet lead (or leash) to provide for hands-free pet walking.

[0013] It is also desirable to have a modular carrying case set that is lightweight and compact for portability and ease of carry.

[0014] The disclosed device advantageously fills these needs and addresses some or all of the aforementioned deficiencies by providing a modular carrying case system that can be worn in a number of different ways and which enables a pet owner to stay organized and fully equipped when traveling or during extended outings with their pet in a multitude of settings.

[0015] As disclosed herein, a modular carrying case system for use when walking a pet includes a belt bag and a detachable carrying pouch. Such system may provide one or more advantages. For example, the belt bag includes a main bag that is configured to facilitate the storage of personal items and the storage of pet accessories such as waste recovery bags. Preferably, the belt bag also includes a collapsable fabric pocket that can be used to store a water bottle or other generally cylindrical item. The detachable carrying pouch may be configured to facilitate the storage of pet accessories that are preferably stored separately from a user’s personal effects, such as pet treats, chew toys, tennis balls, or other similarly potentially unhygienic items.

[0016] In accordance with one broad aspect, there is provided a belt bag for use when walking a pet, the belt bag comprising: a main bag having a front panel, a rear panel, a top panel, a bottom panel, a first side panel, and a second side panel, the front, rear, bottom, and side panels defining an interior volume of the main bag, the top panel having a first closure mechanism for selectively providing access to the interior volume of the main bag; a belt strap with a first end connected to the main bag at a location proximate a juncture of the rear panel and the first side panel, and a second end connected to the main bag at a location proximate a juncture of the rear panel and the second side panel; an anchoring mechanism connected to at least oneof the main bag and the belt strap at a location proximate the second end of the belt strap; an exterior pocket located on an inward side of the rear panel, and a second closure mechanism located proximate a juncture of the rear panel and the bottom panel for selectively providing access to an interior volume of the exterior pocket; and a collapsable fabric pocket having a circular opening, a bottom panel, and a fabric sidewall extending between the circular opening and the bottom panel to define a cylindrical interior volume, the fabric sidewall being connected to the main bag at a location within the interior volume of the exterior pocket such that, when the second closure mechanism is in an open position, the collapsable fabric pocket can be expanded and used to restrain a water bottle, and such that the collapsable fabric pocket can be stored within the interior volume of the exterior pocket when the second closure mechanism is in a closed position.

CLAIMS1 . A belt bag (100) for use when walking a pet, the belt bag comprising: a main bag (32) having a front panel (12), a rear panel (46), a top panel (30), a bottom panel (50), a first side panel (16), and a second side panel (18), the front, rear, bottom, and side panels defining an interior volume (65) of the main bag (32), the top panel (30) having a first closure mechanism (22) for selectively providing access to the interior volume of the main bag (32); a belt strap (20) with a first end (21 ) connected to the main bag (32) at a location proximate a juncture of the rear panel (46) and the first side panel (16), and a second end (23) connected to the main bag (32) at a location proximate a juncture of the rear panel (46) and the second side panel (18); an anchoring mechanism (26) connected to at least one of the main bag (32) and the belt strap (20) at a location proximate the second end (23) of the belt strap (20); an exterior pocket (51) located on an inward side of the rear panel (46), and a second closure mechanism (52) located proximate a juncture of the rear panel (46) and the bottom panel (50) for selectively providing access to an interior volume of the exterior pocket (51 ); and a collapsable fabric pocket (54) having a circular opening (59), a bottom panel (55), and a fabric sidewall (57) extending between the circular opening and the bottom panel to define a cylindrical interior volume, the fabric sidewall (57) being connected to the main bag at a location within the interior volume of the exterior pocket (51 ) such that, when the second closure mechanism (52) is in an open position, the collapsable fabric pocket (54) can be expanded and used to restrain a water bottle, and such that the collapsable fabric pocket (54) can be stored within the interior volume of the exterior pocket (51 ) when the second closure mechanism (52) is in a closed position.

2. The belt bag of claim 1 , wherein, in an expanded configuration, the bottom panel (55) of the collapsable fabric pocket (54) is generally in line with the first side panel (16) of the main bag (32), and the circular opening (59) of the collapsable fabric pocket (54) is generally in line with the second side panel (18) of the main bag (32).

The belt bag of claim 1 , wherein, when the main bag (32) is oriented with the first side panel (16) positioned above the second side panel (18), and when the collapsable fabric pocket (54) is in an expanded configuration, the circular opening (59) of the collapsable fabric pocket (54) is positioned above the bottom panel (55).

4. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the second closure mechanism comprises a zipper, and wherein when the second closure mechanism (52) is in the open position, a slider of the zipper is located towards the second side panel (18) of the main bag (32).

The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the circular opening (59) of the collapsable fabric pocket (54) includes a drawstring closure (56) configured to releasably restrict the circular opening (59) to a circumference that is less than a circumference of the collapsable fabric pocket (54).

6. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the circular opening (59) of the collapsable fabric pocket (54) includes at least one resilient element configured to bias the circular opening (59) towards a circumference that is less than a circumference of the collapsable fabric pocket (54).

7. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the belt strap (20) includes an adjustment mechanism for selectively varying an effective length of the belt strap (20).

8. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the belt strap (20) includes a release mechanism (24) for selectively separating and attaching the belt strap at a location between the first end (21 ) of the belt strap (20) and the second end (23) of the belt strap (20).

9. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the belt strap (20) includes a release mechanism for selectively separating and attaching one of the first end (21 ) of the belt strap (20) and the second end (23) of the belt strap (20) from the main bag (32).

10. The belt bag of claim 7 or claim 8, wherein the release mechanism (24) comprises a quick release buckle.11 . The belt bag of any one of claims 6 to 9, wherein the release mechanism (24) functions as the adjustment mechanism.

The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein the main bag (32) includes a waste recovery bag opening (48) provided in the rear panel (46) of the main bag (32), the waste recovery bag opening (48) being configured to allow the passage of an end of a strip of waste recovery bags positioned in the interior volume (65) of the main bag (32).

13. The belt bag of claim 11 , wherein the waste recovery bag opening (48) is located proximate a juncture of the rear panel (46) and the first side panel (16).

14. The belt bag of claim 11 or claim 12, wherein the waste recovery bag opening (48) is an elongate slit.

15. The belt bag of any one of claims 11 to 13, wherein a perimeter of the waste recovery bag opening (48) is rigid.

16. The belt bag of any one of claims 11 to 14, wherein a resilient pocket (58) is provided in the interior volume of the main bag (32) adjacent the waste recovery bag opening (48), the resilient pocket (58) being configured to hold the strip of waste recovery bags.

17. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 15, wherein two or more horizontally slotted compartments are provided in the interior volume of the main bag (32) along an inward side of the front panel (12), the horizontally slotted compartments being configured to hold at least one of a credit card, a driver’s license, and cash.

18. The belt bag of any one of claims 1 to 16, further comprising: a front exterior pocket (13) located on an outward side of the front panel (12), and a front exterior closure mechanism (14) for selectively providing access to an interior volume of the front exterior pocket (13).

19. A carrying pouch (34) for use when walking a pet, the carrying pouch comprising: a front panel (45) with a curved lower edge, a rear panel (47) with a curved lower edge, and a side panel (49) extending between the front panel (45) and the rear panel (47), the front, rear, and side panels defining an interior volume (75) of the carrying pouch, the interior volume (75) being accessible via an upwardly facing opening; a top lid (38) connected to an upper end of the rear panel (47) and configured such that when the top lid (38) is in an open position, the interior volume (75) of the carrying pouch is accessible, and when the top lid (38) is in a closed position, the interior volume (75) of the carrying pouch is fully enclosed; a first closure mechanism (42) configured to releasably secure the top lid in the closed position by releasably coupling a perimeter of the upwardly facing opening to an inner surface of the top lid; a second closure mechanism (36) configured to releasably secure the top lid in the closed position by releasably coupling a portion of the inner surface of the top lid to the outer surface of the front panel; and an attachment mechanism (68) for securing the carrying pouch (34) to at least one of: a belt; a belt strap (20) of another belt bag; and a waist opening of a garment.

20. The carrying pouch of claim 19, wherein the first closure mechanism (42) comprises a zipper.

21. The carrying pouch of claim 20, wherein the second closure mechanism (36) comprises a magnetic closure.

22. The carrying pouch of claim 20, wherein the second closure mechanism (36) comprises a hook and loop closure.

23. The carrying pouch of any one of claims 19 to 22, further comprising a loop (40) connected to the carrying pouch (34) at a location proximate the upper end of the rear panel.

The carrying pouch of any one of claims 19 to 23, wherein the interior volume (75) of the carrying pouch (34) is provided with a liner (66), wherein an upper portion of the liner (66) is connected to the carrying pouch (34) proximate a perimeter of the upwardly facing opening, such that the liner (66) can be positioned in an inverted configuration in which a bottom portion of the liner is removed from the interior volume (75) while the upper portion of the liner remains connected to the carrying pouch (34).

25. A modular carrying case system (10) for use when walking a pet, the modular carrying case system comprising: the belt bag (100) of any one of claims 1 to 18; and the carrying pouch (34) of any one of claims 19 to 24.
