Method for addressing surface microcracks on copper alloy strip

By optimizing the heating, hot rolling, and surface treatment processes, the problem of microcracks on the surface of C19400 copper alloy strip was solved, resulting in a significant improvement in surface quality.

Abstract

A method for addressing surface microcracks on a copper alloy strip, comprising the following steps: heating: controlling the heating temperature of a step furnace to 920-1000°C, with a furnace exit temperature at 900-960°C, while ensuring temperature uniformity across various zones within the furnace during the process; hot rolling: during hot rolling, performing the final rolling pass at a constant speed, and controlling a final rolling temperature to be 750°C or higher; surface milling: single-side milling thickness being greater than 0.8 mm; cleaning: using two sets of 800-3000 mesh brushes to treat upper and lower surfaces of the product, the brush rotational speed being 600-900 r / min and the strip speed being less than or equal to 100 m / min; and using flowing water for rinsing during the process. The present method reduces or eliminates surface microcracks, maintains uniform and consistent surface coloration of the strip, and improves the surface quality of the product.
