AI Technical Summary
Existing lateral distribution devices in spreading machines achieve only quasi-two-dimensional mixing of spreading material, leading to uneven distribution and heterogeneity, especially when applied through multiple openings, and traditional designs reduce the off-road capability of mobile spreaders.
The transverse distribution device employs offset conveying units that move spreading material in perpendicular directions, creating a three-dimensional mixing effect, ensuring uniform distribution and integrating the device within the hopper to eliminate the need for intermediate containers, thereby enhancing homogeneity and off-road capability.
The solution achieves a more uniform material flow and controlled application, reducing heterogeneity and increasing the off-road capability of mobile spreaders by ensuring homogeneous distribution across multiple openings.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Description
[0002] Cross-distribution device and spreading machine
[0003] A lateral distribution device is specified. Furthermore, a spreading machine is specified which, in particular, has such a lateral distribution device.
[0004] One of the tasks to be solved is to specify an improved lateral distribution device and an improved spreading machine.
[0005] These tasks are solved, among other things, by the products having the features of claims 1 and 7. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are the subject of the respective dependent claims.
[0006] According to at least one embodiment of the transverse distribution device, the device is a transverse distribution device for a spreading machine and is designed to distribute spreading material fed by a feed unit transversely to a feed direction. The transverse distribution device comprises at least a first conveying unit and at least a second conveying unit for distributing the spreading material. The first conveying unit and the second conveying unit are offset from each other in a first direction, wherein the first direction is perpendicular to the feed direction and perpendicular to a principal extension direction of the first and / or second conveying unit. The principal extension directions of the first and second conveying units are preferably transverse, and more preferably perpendicular, to the feed direction. The feed unit, for example, feeds the spreading material from a storage container to the transverse distribution device. The feed device includes, for example, a feed chain.
[0007] The lateral distribution device is, for example, part of a spreading machine. The lateral distribution device is preferably attached to an opening through which the spreading material is applied to a surface. From the perspective of the surface, the lateral distribution device is, in particular, mounted above the opening.
[0008] The following technical considerations underlie the lateral distribution device described here. Lateral distribution devices are typically used in spreading machines to mix and homogenize a spreading material before it is applied to a surface. This is particularly necessary when the spreading material is to be applied to the surface through multiple openings in one discharge direction. To ensure the most uniform material flow possible through all openings, it is therefore necessary to distribute the spreading material evenly.
[0009] Traditionally, this is achieved using conveying devices, such as screw conveyors, arranged at the bottom of a container with a transverse distribution device. The axes of rotation of the conveying devices are arranged in a plane as close as possible to the bottom of the container. A disadvantage of this method is that circulation is only achieved in the bottom region, resulting in only a quasi-two-dimensional mixing at the bottom of the container. The transverse distribution device described here utilizes the idea of arranging the conveying devices offset from one another such that they have an offset perpendicular to the feed direction. Preferably, the conveying devices have this first offset in a first direction parallel to the discharge direction of the spreading material. This advantageously allows for three-dimensional movement of the spreading material in an area around the transverse distribution device, for example, in a container in which the transverse distribution device is located. Consequently, the spreading material can be more homogenized by the transverse distribution device and, if necessary, distributed across several openings. Overall, this enables a more uniform material flow through the openings and thus achieves a more controlled and even application of the spreading material.
[0010] The density of the spreading material can typically vary depending on the environmental conditions within the container. This means, in particular, that the density distribution of the spreading material can be heterogeneous. Such heterogeneity of the spreading material is typically undesirable, as it makes uniform distribution of the material more difficult. The transverse distribution device described here advantageously achieves improved mixing of the spreading material in the area around the device and reduces heterogeneity.
[0011] According to at least one embodiment or the embodiment described above, the first conveying device is configured to move spreading material brought by the feed device laterally, in particular outwards in the feed direction. The second conveying device is configured to move spreading material moved outwards by the first conveying device laterally, in particular inwards perpendicularly to the feed direction.
[0012] For example, the first conveying device is configured to move spreading material transversely or perpendicularly to the feed direction from a central area of the transverse distribution device or a container with the transverse distribution device outwards. The second conveying device is preferably configured to move the spreading material transversely, in particular perpendicularly, to the feed direction from an edge area of the transverse distribution device or the container with the transverse distribution device inwards.
[0013] In the peripheral area, for example, the first and second ends of each of the conveying devices are arranged. The central area is preferably surrounded by the peripheral area in directions transverse to the feed direction. An "inward" movement describes, in particular, a movement from the peripheral area to the central area. In other words, an "inward" movement describes a movement inward with respect to a central axis of the feed direction. An "outward" movement describes, in particular, a movement from the central area to the peripheral area. In other words, an "outward" movement describes a movement outward with respect to a central axis of the feed direction.
[0014] The conveying devices enable the movement of the spreading material in directions perpendicular to the feed direction during operation. The second conveying device returns spreading material, previously conveyed outwards by the first conveying device, back inwards. This allows for a comparatively high degree of homogenization of the spreading material in the area around the transverse distribution device, for example, a container with the transverse distribution device.
[0015] According to at least one embodiment, or at least the embodiment described above, in which the transverse distribution device has at least one second conveying device, the second conveying device is designed to move excess spreading material moved outwards inwards transversely to the feed direction.
[0016] In particular, during operation of the transverse distribution device, excess spreading material is moved from the outer area inwards, i.e., towards the central area, by means of the second conveying device. "Excess spreading material" refers specifically to spreading material that, after being moved outwards by the first conveying device, has not yet been applied to the surface. For example, excess spreading material remains in an area around the transverse distribution device or in the container of the transverse distribution device after it has been moved outwards by the first conveying device.
[0017] According to at least one embodiment, or at least one of the embodiments described above, the first and second conveying devices have a second offset in a second direction parallel to the feed direction. This second direction is, in particular, perpendicular to the first direction. It is possible that the first and second conveying devices are offset from each other in both the feed direction and the first direction. In such a case, the first and second feed directions are offset from each other. Advantageously, this allows for particularly good homogenization of the spreading material by the transverse distribution device.
[0018] According to at least one embodiment of the transverse distribution device, or at least one of the embodiments described above, the first conveying device is configured to move the spreading material by means of rotation about a first axis of rotation. The second conveying device is configured to move the spreading material by means of rotation about a second axis of rotation. The first and second axes of rotation each pass through the respective conveying device.
[0019] For example, the first and second conveyor units are connected to a drive via a connecting element. This connecting element could be a belt, such as a toothed belt. Alternatively, the connecting element could be a shaft, such as a drive shaft.
[0020] The drive is, for example, a motor, in particular an electric motor. Preferably, the motor is a hydraulic motor. The connecting element transmits a rotational movement of the motor to the first and second conveying units. It is possible that the first and second conveying units are connected to a common drive. According to at least one embodiment of the transverse distribution device, or at least one of the embodiments described above, the first and second conveying units each comprise a screw conveyor. Furthermore, the transverse distribution device can include a control unit for controlling the conveying units.
[0021] The augers each have a surface profile. The surface profile is, in particular, the auger thread of the auger.
[0022] Preferably, the screw conveyor assigned to the second conveying device is free of surface profile in a central area. This means, for example, that the screw conveyor is smooth in the central area. For instance, the screw conveyor in the central area comprises only a screw shaft and no screw thread.
[0023] In directions parallel to the main extension plane of the second conveying device, the central area is, for example, surrounded by a peripheral area. Within this peripheral area, the auger associated with the second conveying device preferably comprises a surface profile.
[0024] Furthermore, a spreading machine for distributing a spreading material is specified. The spreading machine includes, in particular, a transverse distribution device. That is to say, all features described for the transverse distribution device are also available for the spreading machine and vice versa.
[0025] According to at least one embodiment, the spreading machine for spreading material comprises a transverse distribution device as described herein and a spreading unit for dispensing the spreading material. The spreading unit is connected to an outlet opening of the storage container. The feed mechanism is arranged inside the storage container.
[0026] The spreading unit is preferably designed to dispense the spreading material onto a surface. The spreading unit comprises, for example, one or more metering gates. The spreading unit is preferably arranged at the outlet opening of the storage container, through which the spreading material leaves the container during normal operation. This spreading material can be dispensed via the spreading unit in a direction towards the surface.
[0027] The feed unit is specifically designed to transport the spreading material to the transverse distribution device or the spreading unit. The feed unit comprises, for example, a feed chain or a screw conveyor. The feed unit preferably includes a control unit for operating the feed unit. The control unit allows, for example, the speed of the feed chain to be set. Consequently, the control unit can be used to control the material flow in the storage container as well as the material flow through the outlet opening.
[0028] In particular, the hopper is mounted on a vehicle such as a truck. The spreader is, for example, a mobile spreader. The spreading material is preferably dispensed onto the ground from the rear end of the vehicle or spreader, viewed in the direction of travel. In normal operation, the spreading material is preferably applied while the vehicle is driving, and a layer of the spreading material with a predetermined thickness is deposited on the ground.
[0029] It is possible that the storage container has a partition wall that separates the transverse distribution device from a storage area for the spreading material. For example, the spreading material is moved from the storage area to the transverse distribution device by means of the feed unit.
[0030] According to at least one embodiment of the spreading machine, or according to the aforementioned embodiment, the transverse distribution device is arranged in an intermediate container between the storage container and the spreading unit. This means, in particular, that the spreading material is mixed in the intermediate container during operation by means of the transverse distribution device. This allows for a relatively homogeneous flow of the spreading material through the spreading unit and a relatively homogeneous distribution of the spreading material onto the surface.
[0031] According to at least one alternative embodiment of the spreading machine described above, the transverse distribution device is arranged within the hopper. In the line of sight through the outlet opening, the transverse distribution device is preferably arranged above the outlet opening. In particular, the transverse distribution device is arranged above the spreading unit in the dispensing direction. Preferably, the transverse distribution device is integrated into the hopper. That is, the mixing of the spreading material takes place within the hopper. In particular, this mixing takes place in a homogenization zone in which the transverse distribution device is located. Preferably, the mixing zone borders directly on the outlet opening and thus on the spreading unit. This allows the spreading material to be homogenized advantageously in the hopper and evenly fed into the spreading unit, which then distributes it evenly across the surface. This eliminates the need for an intermediate container between the spreading unit and the hopper.
[0032] In the case of a mobile spreader, an intermediate hopper for the lateral distribution device is disadvantageous. The intermediate hopper results in a comparatively low height between the spreading unit and the ground. This low height reduces the off-road capability of the vehicle or spreader. On uneven terrain, such a low height increases the risk of the spreader bottoming out. In such a case, controlled dispensing of the spreading material onto the ground becomes difficult or even impossible. Furthermore, the spreader can be damaged. The present design, therefore, advantageously achieves a high degree of homogeneity in the applied spreading material while simultaneously increasing the spreader's off-road capability. The risk of damage to the spreader due to uneven terrain is reduced.
[0033] According to at least one embodiment of the spreading machine, or at least one of the embodiments of the spreading machine described above, the feed device comprises a feed chain that runs in a circuit within the hopper along a bottom surface, a rear surface, a top surface, and a front surface. The transverse distribution device is arranged within this circuit and is visible through the outlet opening.
[0034] The bottom surface, the back surface, the top surface, and the front surface are, in particular, interior surfaces of the storage container, which are accessible, for example, from inside the storage container. The back surface and the front surface preferably connect the bottom surface and the top surface. The front surface is preferably opposite the back surface.
[0035] For example, the spreading machine is a mobile spreading machine that moves in a direction of travel during operation. In this case, the rear surface forms a side of the hopper, which, viewed in the direction of travel, is a rear end of the hopper. The front surface preferably forms a front end of the hopper, viewed in the direction of travel. A normal vector of the front and rear surfaces is, in particular, parallel to the direction of travel.
[0036] The storage container preferably further comprises a first side surface and a second side surface, each connecting the top surface to the bottom surface and the front surface to the back surface.
[0037] The outlet opening is preferably located in the floor area.
[0038] In its present form, the
[0039] Feed chain of the feed device preferably along the
[0040] The feed chain travels along the floor surface or in the area of the floor surface to move the spreading material to the outlet opening during operation. The return path of the feed chain preferably follows the rear surface, the top surface, and the front surface. The feed chain thus forms a closed loop.
[0041] The transverse distribution device is preferably arranged in the circulation loop. It is further preferably arranged close to the floor surface.
[0042] Further advantages and beneficial designs and developments of the transverse distribution device and the spreading machine will become apparent from the following exemplary embodiments, illustrated in conjunction with the schematic drawings. Identical, similar, and similarly functioning elements are designated with the same reference symbols in the figures. The figures and the relative sizes of the elements depicted in the figures are not necessarily to be considered as being to scale. Rather, individual elements may be exaggerated in size for better clarity and / or to improve comprehensibility.

[0045] Figures 2 to 4 are schematic sectional views of a spreading machine described here according to several exemplary embodiments; Figures 5 and 6 are schematic perspective views of a spreading machine described here according to one
[0046] From an example.
[0047] Figure 1 shows a sectional view of a transverse distribution device 1 described herein according to an exemplary embodiment. One section plane runs perpendicular to a feed direction 14 of a spreading material 100 brought towards the transverse distribution device 1 and parallel to the main extension directions of first and second conveying devices 3, 4 of the transverse distribution device 1.
[0048] The transverse distribution device 1 comprises a first conveying unit 3 and a second conveying unit 4. A first axis of rotation 30 runs through the first conveying unit 3, and a second axis of rotation 40 runs through the second conveying unit 4. The first conveying unit 3 is configured to rotate about the first axis of rotation 30 in a first direction of rotation 32. The second conveying unit 4 is configured to rotate about the second axis of rotation 40 in a second direction of rotation 42. The first conveying unit 3 is arranged offset from the second conveying unit 4. That is, the first conveying unit 3 and the second conveying unit 4 have a first offset 25 from each other. The first offset 25 is measured, for example, between the axes of rotation 30 and 40. The first conveying unit 3 and the second conveying unit 4 have the first offset 25 from each other in a first direction. The first direction is perpendicular to the feed direction 14 and perpendicular to the main extension directions of the conveying devices 3, 4. The transverse distribution device 1 also has a drive 6. The drive 6 is, for example, a motor such as an electric motor. The first and second conveying devices 3, 4 are connected to the drive 6 via connecting elements 5. In this exemplary embodiment, the connecting elements 5 are shafts.
[0049] In normal operation, the rotation of the drive 6 is transmitted to the first and second conveying units 3 and 4 by means of the connecting elements 5. The connecting element 5 can be configured as a shaft in all embodiments and, in particular, can replace a connecting element described in these embodiments.
[0050] The transverse distribution device 1 is designed to distribute a spreading material, which is fed to the transverse distribution device 1 by means of a feed device 13 (not shown in Figure 1) in the feed direction 14, transversely, in particular perpendicular to the feed direction 14. The transverse distribution device 1 is used in particular in a spreading machine 10 for spreading material 100. For example, the transverse distribution device 1 is mounted near an opening through which, during operation of the spreading machine 10, the spreading material 100 is dispensed onto a surface 200. The spreading material 100 is dispensed along a dispensing direction 20.
[0051] Depending on environmental parameters, the spreading material can clump together and thus exhibit an inhomogeneous density. Such inhomogeneities in the density of the spreading material are generally disadvantageous and undesirable, as they make uniform distribution of the spreading material 100 more difficult. The spreading material 100 can be mixed by means of the conveying devices 3, 4, and inhomogeneities in the spreading material can be resolved. A material flow in an area around the transverse distribution device 1 is indicated by the arrows 101 in Figure 1.
[0052] In normal operation, the first and second conveying units 3, 4 rotate along the first and second directions of rotation 32, 42, respectively. The spreading material 100 is thereby moved in the conveying directions 31, 41. The first conveying direction 31 of the first conveying unit 3 is outwards, and the second conveying direction 41 of the second conveying unit 4 is inwards. The transverse distribution device 1 comprises an edge region 19, which contains a first end and a second end of each of the first and second conveying units 3, 4. The first end and the second end each define the boundaries of the associated conveying units 3, 4 in their main direction of extension. A central region 18 is arranged between the edge region 19. The first conveying direction 31 is directed outwards, that is, from the central region 18 towards the edge region 19.The second conveying direction 41 is directed inwards, that is, from the outer area 19 towards the central area 19.
[0053] The conveying device 3, 4 are, for example, screw conveyors that are profiled in such a way that corresponding conveying directions 31, 41 are achieved.
[0054] Figure 2 shows a schematic sectional view of a spreading machine 10 as described herein, according to an exemplary embodiment. A section plane of Figure 2 is defined by the discharge direction 20 and a feed direction 14. The spreading machine 10 comprises a storage container 11 in which the spreading material 100 can be stored. The storage container 11 is connected to the transverse distribution device 1 via a first outlet opening 21. During operation of the spreading machine 10, the spreading material 100 is conveyed in the feed direction 14 towards the transverse distribution device 1 and reaches the transverse distribution device 1 through the first outlet opening 21.
[0055] The transverse distribution device 1 according to the embodiment of Figure 2 differs from the transverse distribution device according to Figure 1 in that the connecting element 5 is a belt.
[0056] The spreading machine 10 further comprises a spreading unit 12, which is connected to a second outlet opening 22. During operation of the spreading machine 10, the spreading material 100 passes from the transverse distribution device 1 to the spreading unit 12 through the second outlet opening 22.
[0057] The spreading unit 12 preferably comprises one or more metering chutes. In the present embodiment, the spreading unit 12 comprises three metering chutes, each of which is connected to a second outlet opening 22. The spreading material can be dispensed in the discharge direction 20 via the spreading unit 12.
[0058] As can be seen in Figure 2, the first conveying device 3 and the second conveying device 4 have a first offset 25 in a first direction perpendicular to the feed direction 14 and perpendicular to the main extension plane of the conveying devices 3, 4. The first direction is parallel to the discharge direction 20. This allows for a particularly homogeneous distribution of the spreading material 100 in the container of the transverse distribution device 1.
[0059] In contrast to the embodiment shown in Figure 2, the transverse distribution device 1 of the spreading machine 10, according to the embodiment shown in Figure 3, has a different arrangement of the conveying devices 3, 4. In addition to a first offset 25 in the first direction, parallel to the discharge direction 20, the conveying devices have a second offset 55 in a second direction parallel to the feed direction 14. That is, in a projection onto a common plane, defined, for example, by the feed direction 50 and the first axis of rotation 30, the first conveying device 3 and the second conveying device 4 are spaced apart from each other. Such an arrangement allows the material flow 101 of the spreading material 100 in an area around the transverse distribution device 1 or the container of the transverse distribution device 1 to be further increased, and improves the mixing and homogeneity of the spreading material 100.
[0060] Figure 4 shows a spreading machine 10 described herein in a schematic sectional view according to an exemplary embodiment. A section plane of Figure 4 is defined by an output direction 20 and a feed direction 14, wherein the feed direction 14 is perpendicular to the output direction 20.
[0061] The spreading machine 10 includes a storage container 11 in which a spreading material 100 can be stored. The storage container 11 includes a partition 15 that separates a storage area 16 for the spreading material 100 from a transverse distribution device 1. The spreading machine 10 has a feed device 13 which is configured to move the spreading material 100 in the feed direction 14 and convey it to a discharge opening 21. The spreading material 100 is thereby separated from the storage area.
[0062] 16 to the transverse distribution device 1. In the present embodiment, the feed device 13 comprises a feed chain 17. The feed chain
[0063] 17 runs along a rear surface 114, a top surface 112 and a front surface 113, with the feed chain 17 forming a closed circuit 110.
[0064] The transverse distribution device 1 is arranged inside the storage container 11. Furthermore, the transverse distribution device 1 is arranged inside the circulation unit 110. The transverse distribution device 1 is thus integrated into the feed device 13.
[0065] The spreading machine 10 further comprises a spreading unit 12, which is connected to the outlet opening 21. The spreading unit 12 preferably includes one or more metering gates. The spreading material 100 can be dispensed via the spreading unit 12 in the discharge direction 20. The spreading material 100 is thereby applied to a substrate 200.
[0066] A transverse distribution device 1 is arranged in a homogenization area 7 of the storage container 11. The transverse distribution device 1 is integrated into the storage container. The homogenization area 7 borders the outlet opening 21 and is arranged above the spreading unit 12 in the discharge direction 20. The transverse distribution device 1 is preferably the transverse distribution device 1 of Figure 3. Figure 5 shows the spreading machine of Figure 4 in a perspective view. The spreading machine is, in particular, a mobile spreading machine and comprises a truck.
[0067] As can be seen in Figure 5, the feed mechanism 13 runs between the spreading unit 12 and the transverse distribution device 1. This eliminates the need for an intermediate container between the hopper 11 and the spreading unit 12. Typically, the transverse distribution device 1 is located in such an intermediate container. Because the transverse distribution device 1 is integrated into the hopper 11, eliminating the need for the intermediate container allows the spreading unit 12 to be advantageously mounted particularly high above the ground 200. This increases the ground clearance of the spreading machine 10 and improves its off-road capability. It also reduces the risk of damage to the spreading machine 10.
[0068] Figure 6 illustrates a spreading machine 10 according to a further embodiment in a perspective view, with the storage container 11 shown semi-transparently. A feed device 13, which moves spreading material 100 in the storage container 11 in the feed direction 14 towards a transverse distribution device 1, comprises a feed chain 17. The feed chain 17 runs along a bottom surface 111, a rear surface 114 (hidden in the view of Figure 7), a top surface 112 and a front surface 113 in a circuit 110.
[0069] The transverse distribution device 1 comprises a first conveying unit 3, which is configured to move the spreading material 100 outwards in a first conveying direction 31 towards the side surfaces 115, 116. The transverse distribution device 1 further comprises a second conveying unit 4, which is configured to move the spreading material 100 inwards, away from the side surfaces 115, 116, in a second conveying direction 41. This allows a material flow of the spreading material 100 to be achieved transversely to the feed direction 14, thereby homogenizing the spreading material 100.
[0070] The first conveying device 3 and the second conveying device 4 are each designed as screw conveyors. Each screw conveyor has a surface profile, for example, a screw thread. The screw conveyor associated with the second conveying device 4 is free of this surface profile in a central area 18. That is, the screw conveyor of the second conveying device 4 is smooth in this central area 18. In particular, this screw conveyor does not have a screw thread in this central area 18, but only a screw shaft. The central area 18 is surrounded, for example, by a peripheral area in which a first end and a second end of the second conveying device 4 are arranged.
[0071] The transverse distribution device 1 is arranged within the storage container 11. The transverse distribution device 1 is further arranged within the circulation unit 110. This arrangement eliminates the need for an additional container outside the storage container, which is typically found in conventional spreading machines and houses the transverse distribution device 1. The invention described here is not limited to the description by reference to the exemplary embodiments. Rather, the invention encompasses every new feature and every combination of features, which in particular includes every combination of features in the claims, even if that feature or combination itself is not explicitly stated in the claims or exemplary embodiments.
