Description

[0001] METHOD OF MAKING AN EYEWEAR FRAME COMPONENT AND EYEWEAR

[0002] FRAME COMPONENT OBTAINED BY THAT METHOD

[0003] The present invention relates to a method for making an eyewear frame and an eyewear frame obtained by that method .

[0004] The present invention finds useful use in the field of eyewear, for the production of temples or fronts decorated with various patterns or colours.

[0005] Components of eyewear frames, such as temples or fronts, are known to be made of cellulose acetate or cellulose bio-acetate .

[0006] In particular, these components are known to be made of acetate in the form of plates or sheets, which can be of a single colour or have a variegated multi-coloured pattern with special effects (e.g. havana effect) . It is also known to couple several sheets of different patterns and colours together, to combine different effects, for example by making a front with an outer tortoiseshell ("havana") portion combined with a coloured inner portion .

[0007] Frames are also known in which there are additional shapes or designs that are superimposed on the pattern or colour resulting from the acetate sheets of which the frames are made. In particular, it is known to make shapes or patterns that are then positioned and glued by hand according to a desired distribution on a different acetate sheet that has already been formed, from which the frame is subsequently made. In particular, it is known to place these shapes between two sheets that are welded together, at least one of which is semitransparent at the top, and then cut the sandwich thus formed into the shape of a frame.

[0008] Disadvantageously , the manual positioning of shapes is time consuming and requires great precision, resulting in high costs .

[0009] Moreover, the method is not easily scalable. In fact, the arrangement of the shapes on a first sheet and the subsequent stacking of a second sheet on the first sheet causes the shapes to shift and therefore the final pattern obtained is different from the desired one.

[0010] The task of the present invention is to provide a method for making an eyewear frame component and an eyewear frame component obtained by this method that overcome the drawbacks of the above-mentioned prior art.

[0011] In particular, it is the purpose of the present invention to provide a method for making an eyewear frame component that is simple and inexpensive, and that enables an eyewear frame component to be obtained with a predetermined pattern.

[0012] It is also the purpose of the present invention to make available an eyewear frame component obtained by this method that has a predetermined pattern coinciding with the desired pattern.

[0013] It is also the purpose of the present invention to provide an aesthetically pleasing eyewear frame component .

[0014] The above-mentioned purposes and others are substantially achieved by a method for making an eyewear frame component and an eyewear frame component having the characteristics set forth in the appended independent claims.

[0015] Other features are provided in the dependent claims.

[0016] Further features and advantages will result more from the description of preferred, but not exclusive, embodiments of a method for making an eyewear frame component, and an eyewear frame component obtained by that method, illustrated by way of non-limiting example with the aid of the accompanying drawings in which:

[0029] With reference to the accompanying figures, a method for making a frame component 100 of eyewear 200 is described below .

[0030] The method in accordance with the present invention comprises the steps described below. The steps described in the present description are not necessarily carried out in the order indicated, unless otherwise specified. The method comprises a step of arranging a first sheet 1 of cellulose acetate or cellulose bio-acetate. According to a preferred embodiment, the first sheet 1 is at least partly transparent.

[0031] The method comprises a subsequent step of cutting the first sheet 1 to make at least a first shape 10, as can be seen in Figure 1.

[0032] The method further comprises a step of arranging a second sheet 2 of cellulose acetate or cellulose bio-acetate. Preferably, the second sheet 2 has a pattern or colour. The method comprises a subsequent step of cutting the second sheet 2 to make at least a second shape 20 equal to the first shape 10, as can be seen in Figure 3.

[0033] In the context of this description, the terms "first", "second", "third" etc. coupled with a given object do not indicate an order of importance or use of the object to which they are coupled but are only used to indicate in a different way distinct objects otherwise having the same name.

[0034] In particular, the steps of arranging and cutting the second sheet 2 can be carried out before, after or simultaneously with the steps of arranging and cutting the first sheet 1.

[0035] The method comprises a step of discarding the first shape 10 from the first sheet 1 by making a first seat 11 that has the profile of the first shape 10. This step, which can be seen in Figure 2, is carried out following the creation of the first shape 10.

[0036] The second shape 20 can be seen in Figure 4 and is obtained by discarding the remainder of the second sheet 2.

[0037] The method comprises a step of placing the second shape 20 in the first seat 11, as can be seen in Figure 5. This step is carried out after the step of discarding the first shape 10 and also after making the second shape 20.

[0038] Next, the method comprises a step of welding the second shape 20 to the first sheet 1, as can be seen in Figure 4.

[0039] Following the step of welding the second shape 20, the method comprises a step of cutting the first sheet 1 to make a frame component 100 of eyewear 200, which can be seen in Figures 12 and 13.

[0040] In accordance with the present invention, it is possible to make one or more first and one or more second shapes 10, 20. The first shapes 10 can be the same or different. Likewise, the second shapes 20 may be the same or different, provided they are equal in shape and number to the first shapes 10.

[0041] Therefore, the step of making at least one first shape 10 can be carried out several times, consequently making as many first seats 11. In this case, the step of making at least a second shape 20 can also be carried out several times.

[0042] The second shapes 20 made on the second sheet 2 must reproduce in shape and number the first shapes 10 made on the first sheet 1. In addition, the first seats 11 must reproduce in form and number the second seats 20. In this sense, the steps of:

[0043] - cutting the first sheet 1 to make at least a first shape 10;

[0044] - cutting the second sheet 2 to make at least a second shape 20 equal to the first shape 10;

[0045] - discarding the first shape 10 from the first sheet 1 by making a first seat 11 with the profile of the first shape 10 and finally

[0046] - positioning the second shape 20 in the first seat 11; can be repeated several times, depending on the number of first shapes 10 and second shapes 20 to be made.

[0047] These steps are preferably carried out prior to the step of welding the second shape 20 to the first sheet 1. In this way, it is possible to carry out the welding to weld all the second shapes 20 at the same time as the first sheet 1.

[0048] Preferably, the step of welding the second shape 20 to the first sheet 1 involves welding all the second shapes 20 formed and inserted into their respective first seats 11 to the first sheet 1.

[0049] In a preferred embodiment, at least one other sheet may be welded to the first sheet 1, being at least partly transparent or coloured for aesthetic purposes, as it covers the various welding and mechanical sealing protection points, as set out below.

[0050] In the preferred embodiment, the method comprises a further step of welding an additional sheet 3, 5, 6 of transparent and / or coloured material for the purpose of mechanical and / or aesthetic protection. This step is preferably carried out at the same time as the step of welding the second shape 20 to the first sheet 1.

[0051] In fact, according to a preferred embodiment, the method involves making a multilayer 300 from which the frame component 100 is subsequently cut.

[0052] In accordance with this embodiment, the method also comprises the steps described below.

[0053] The method comprises a step of arranging a third sheet

[0054] 3 of cellulose acetate or cellulose bio-acetate. The third sheet 3 can be coloured or at least partly transparent .

[0055] The method comprises a subsequent step of cutting the third sheet 3 to make at least a third shape 30, as can be seen in Figure 6.

[0056] The method comprises a step of arranging a fourth sheet

[0057] 4 of cellulose acetate or cellulose bio-acetate. Preferably, the fourth sheet 4 has a pattern or colour. The method comprises a subsequent step of cutting the fourth sheet 4 to make at least a fourth shape 40 equal to the third shape 30, as can be seen in Figure 8.

[0058] The step of arranging and cutting the fourth sheet 4 can be carried out before, after or simultaneously with the step of arranging and cutting the third sheet 3.

[0059] The method comprises a step of discarding the third shape 30 from the third sheet 3 making a third seat 31 having the profile of the third shape 30, as can be seen in Figure 7. This step is carried out after making the third shape 30.

[0060] The fourth shape 40 can be seen in Figure 9 and is obtained by discarding the remainder of the fourth sheet 4.

[0061] The method includes a step of positioning the fourth shape 40 in the third seat 31, as can be seen in Figure 10. This step is carried out after the step of discarding the third shape 30 and also after making the fourth shape 40.

[0062] Next, the method comprises a step of welding the fourth shape 40 to the third sheet 3.

[0063] The fourth shape 40 can be welded to the third sheet 3 at the same time as welding the second shape 20 to the first sheet 1 in a single welding step.

[0064] Preferably, the step of welding the fourth shape 40 to the third sheet 3 involves welding all the fourth shapes 40 formed and inserted into their respective third seats 31 to the third sheet 3.

[0065] In fact, similarly to what is stated above for the first 10 and second shapes 20, it is possible to make one or more third 30 and one or more fourth shapes 40.

[0066] The third shapes 30 can be the same or different. Similarly, the fourth shapes 40 may be the same or different, provided they are equal in shape and number to the third shapes 30.

[0067] Therefore, the step of making at least a third shape 10 can be carried out several times, consequently making as many third seats 31. In that case, the step of making at least a fourth shape 40 can also be carried out several times .

[0068] The fourth shapes 40 made on the fourth sheet 4 must reproduce in shape and number the third shapes 30 made on the third sheet 3. In addition, the third seats 31 must reproduce in shape and number the fourth seats 40. In this sense, the steps of:

[0069] - cutting the third sheet 3 to make at least a third shape 30;

[0070] - cutting the fourth sheet 4 to make at least a fourth shape 40 equal to the third shape 30;

[0071] - discarding the third shape 30 from the third sheet 3 making a third seat 31 with the profile of the third shape 30 and finally

[0072] - positioning the fourth shape 40 in the third seat 31; can be repeated several times depending on the number of third shapes 30 and fourth shapes 40 to be made.

[0073] These steps are preferably carried out prior to the step of welding the fourth shape 40 to the third sheet 3. In this way, it is possible to carry out the welding to weld all the fourth shapes 40 at the same time to the third sheet 3.

[0074] In accordance with the present invention, the second shapes 20 and also the fourth shapes 40 are inserted into their respective seats 11, 31 appropriately formed, and thus remain stationary, resulting in a final arrangement coinciding with the desired one.

[0075] Preferably, the first sheet 1 and the second sheet 2 have the same thickness.

[0076] Preferably, the third sheet 3 and the fourth sheet 4 also have the same thickness.

[0077] Therefore, preferably the second 20 and / or fourth shapes 40 remain flush with the respective sheet 1, 3.

[0078] For example, the sheets can be about 1.5 mm thick.

[0079] The sheets can also have different thicknesses from each other according to aesthetic choice.

[0080] The second shape (s) 20 and the fourth shape (s) 40 may have the same thickness or they may have different thicknesses .

[0081] In accordance with an embodiment, the third shape 30 can be cut directly on the first shape 1, on the same side where the first shapes 10 are cut, or preferably on the reverse side. In accordance with this embodiment, the method comprises a step of cutting the first sheet 1 to make at least a third shape 30. Again in accordance with this embodiment, the method comprises a step of discarding the third seat 30 from the first seat 1 by creating a third seat 31 having the profile of the third seat 30. The method also comprises a step of welding the fourth shape 40 to the first sheet 1.

[0082] In accordance with this embodiment, preferably the first sheet 1 is thicker than the second sheet 2 and the fourth sheet 4, so that both the first 11 and the third seats 31 can be obtained in its thickness.

[0083] In accordance with a particular embodiment, the first seats 11 are obtained in the first seat 1 on one side, while the third seats 31 are obtained in the first seat 1 on the side opposite the first seats 11. The first seat 11 and the third seat 31 are then filled with the second shape 20 and the fourth shape 40 respectively. In accordance with this embodiment, the method comprises a step of welding the second shape 20 and the fourth shape 40 to the first sheet 1.

[0084] In an embodiment, elements e.g. made of metal and / or another material can be added to the sheets for aesthetic and / or functional purposes such as cores and / or other reinforcing elements. These additional elements can be arranged in a suitably created seat and / or be intimately integrated into the sheet.

[0085] Prior to the step of cutting the first sheet 1, the method comprises a step of superimposing the first sheet 1 onto the third sheet 3.

[0086] In accordance with the preferred embodiment of the method, a multilayer 300 of sheets is made, which can be seen in Figure 14, from which the frame component 100 is made .

[0087] In accordance with this embodiment, different patterns or drawings are imparted on different layers of the multilayer 300, as each layer incorporates specific shapes obtained from a respective sheet.

[0088] In the multilayer 300, the second shapes 20 and the fourth shapes 40 can be partly or completely overlapped, or arranged so as not to overlap.

[0089] Advantageously, it is possible to create a pattern with a three-dimensional effect on the finished frame component 100. In fact, the frame component 100 incorporates some portions of the multilayer 300 that comprise some portions of the second shapes 20 and the fourth shapes 40.

[0090] Preferably the step of cutting the first sheet 1 involves cutting the formed multilayer 300 that has been welded. Preferably, additional sheets, which are preferably at least partly transparent, can be welded to the first sheet 1 and / or to the third sheet 3, if provided.

[0091] This step is optional. The further sheets 5, 6, 7 can be at least partly transparent or partly coloured.

[0092] Still optionally, an additional sheet 8 can be provided that is at least partly covering.

[0093] Therefore, in the multilayer 300, the eighth sheet 8 is arranged in such a way as to remain on the outside, i.e. facing the face of the user of the frame component 100. Preferably, prior to the step of cutting the first sheet 1, the method comprises a further phase of arranging the first sheet 1 on a fifth sheet 5.

[0094] Next, the method comprises a step of welding the fifth sheet 5 to the first sheet 1.

[0095] The welding of the fifth sheet 5 to the first sheet 1 can be carried out simultaneously with other welds in a single welding step.

[0096] In this case, the formed multilayer 300 may comprise the first sheet 1 and the fifth sheet 5.

[0097] As mentioned above, the step of cutting the first sheet 1 involves cutting the multilayer 300, thus also cutting the fifth sheet 5 to which the first sheet 1 has been coupled .

[0098] In accordance with the embodiment with the first sheet 1 and the third sheet 3, however, the multilayer 300 is composed of three sheets, where the fifth sheet 5 is interposed between the first sheet 1 and the third sheet 3. Therefore, the step of cutting the first sheet 1 also involves cutting the third sheet 3 and the fifth sheet 5, which were coupled to the first sheet 1.

[0099] In accordance with this embodiment, the method also comprises a step of welding the fifth sheet 5 to the third sheet 3.

[0100] Preferably, prior to the step of cutting the first sheet 1, the method comprises a further step of placing a sixth sheet 6 on the first sheet 1. The sixth sheet 6 may be provided in place of, or preferably in addition to, the fifth sheet 5 and coupled only to the first sheet 1 or even to the third sheet 3 if provided.

[0101] The method also includes a subsequent step of welding the sixth sheet 6 to the first sheet 1.

[0102] Welding can take place simultaneously with other welding steps mentioned above or in a separate step.

[0103] Preferably, prior to the stage of cutting the first sheet 1, the method includes a further step of placing the third sheet 3 on a seventh sheet 7. The seventh sheet 7 may be provided in place of, or more preferably in addition to, the fifth sheet 5 and / or the sixth sheet 6. The method also comprises a subsequent step of welding the seventh sheet 7 to the third sheet 3.

[0104] Welding can take place simultaneously with other welding steps mentioned above or in a separate step.

[0105] Preferably, in accordance with the present invention, the welding step is carried out by high-frequency welding or, alternatively, with acetone. Advantageously, once different sheets and / or the shapes made from one sheet and the seats made from another sheet are welded together, they are intimately bonded to form a single piece .

[0106] According to an embodiment, an eighth sheet 8 may be placed in contact with the first sheet 1 or with the third sheet 3 or with one of the further sheets if provided. In particular, the eighth sheet 8 is coloured and at least partially covering.

[0107] In accordance with this embodiment, prior to the step of cutting the first sheet 1, the method comprises a further step of placing the first sheet 1 on an eighth sheet 8. Next, the method comprises a step of welding the eighth sheet 8 to the first sheet 1, thus also welding it to any other sheets stacked to the first sheet 1.

[0108] The welding of the eighth sheet 8 to the first sheet 1 can be carried out simultaneously with other welds in a single welding step.

[0109] In the embodiment in which both the first seat 11 and third seat 31 are made in the first sheet 1, the multilayer 300 may comprise further sheets 6, 7, 8 superimposed on the first sheet 1. In particular, the multilayer 300 preferably comprises a sixth sheet 6 in contact with the first sheet 1 on one side and a seventh sheet 7 in contact with the first sheet 1 on the side opposite the sixth sheet 6. The sixth sheet 6 and the seventh sheet 7 are preferably transparent. In accordance with this embodiment, the multilayer 300 preferably comprises an eighth sheet 8 placed in contact with the seventh sheet 7, on the opposite side of the first sheet 1.

[0110] In accordance with this embodiment, instead of the step of placing the third sheet 3 on a seventh sheet 7, the method comprises a step of placing the first sheet 1 on the seventh sheet 7. Preferably, the cutting steps are carried out by milling.

[0111] Preferably, the pattern or colour of the fourth sheet 4 is different from that of the second sheet 2.

[0112] According to preferred embodiments, the first sheet 1 and the third sheet 3 are transparent.

[0113] Preferably, the step of cutting the first sheet 1 to make a frame component 100 involves making an eyewear front .

[0114] Alternatively, the step of cutting the first sheet 1 to make a frame component 100 involves making an arm. According to an example of a front, three first shapes 10 each having a predefined shape, preferably with different shapes, are made on a first transparent sheet 1 and three second shapes 20 on a second sheet 2 having a predefined pattern. The second shapes 20 are identical to the first shapes 10. Then the three first shapes 10 are discarded and the three second shapes 20 are inserted into the three seats 11 of the first sheet 1.

[0115] Then three third shapes 30 each having a predefined shape, preferably having different shapes, are made on a third transparent sheet 3 and three fourth shapes 40 on a fourth sheet 4 having a single predefined colour. The fourth shapes 40 are identical to the third shapes

[0116] 30.

[0117] Then the three third shapes 30 are discarded and the three fourth shapes 40 are inserted into the three seats

[0118] 31 of the third sheet 3.

[0119] Then, the first sheet 1 is superimposed on the third sheet 3 to form the multilayer 300, which is welded to bind the sheets and shapes to the respective seats. In particular, in a preferred embodiment, a fifth sheet 5 transparent and / or coloured is interposed between the first sheet 1 and the third sheet 3, placing a sixth transparent sheet 6 covering the first sheet 1 and also a seventh transparent sheet 7 at the base of the third sheet 7. The multilayer 300 formed according to this example is similar to what is shown in Figure 14.

[0120] Then the components of the multilayer 300 are welded together by high-frequency welding. The welding of the second shapes 20 to the first seats 11 and of the fourth shapes 40 to the third seats 31 can also take place prior to the overlapping of the various sheets 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7. After the sheets 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 have been welded together, a multilayer 300 welded as can be seen in Figure 15 is obtained.

[0121] In the multilayer 300 the second 20 and fourth shapes 40 can be alternated or at least partly overlapped. In addition, two second shapes 20 and two fourth shapes 40 are arranged in such a position that they will be at the rims, once the multilayer 300 has been cut into the shape of a front. The remaining second shape 20 and fourth shape 40 are arranged in such a position that they are at the bridge, once the multilayer 300 has been cut into the shape of a front.

[0122] Finally, the formed multilayer 300 is cut according to the shape of the desired front, cutting the rims and the front at the second shapes 20 and the fourth shapes 40. A frame component 100 obtained by the method as described above also forms part of the present invention. The frame component 100 obtained by this method features alternating and / or overlapping colours and patterns. Preferably, the frame component 100 is an eyewear front. The frame component 100 can also be an arm.

[0123] Eyewear 200 comprising a frame component 100 described also forms part of the present invention. In the context of this description, the term eyewear means a pair of spectacles of any type with two lenses, e.g. sunglasses, prescription glasses, cosmetic glasses, protective or sports goggles, or a mask of any type with a single lens, e.g. sports or protective goggles, or the like.

[0124] The method thus conceived is susceptible to numerous modifications and variants, without departing from the scope of the invention; moreover, all details are replaceable with other technically equivalent elements. In practice, the materials used, as long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the dimensions and the contingent shapes, may be any according to the technical requirements.
