Abstract

The invention relates to a mattress for sofa bed mechanisms, suitable for use in sofa bed structures with limited space. The mattress comprises: a first textile layer made of 100% polyester with a fibre of between 120 and 600 g; a second polyurethane or viscoelastic foam layer with a density of at least 20 kg / m3 and a height of between 1 and 18 cm; a third layer of polyester-based, thermoplastic elastomer elastic fibres structured as a three-dimensional network with a density of between 30 and 150 kg / m3 and a height of between 2 and 11 cm; a fourth polyurethane foam layer with a density of between 20 and 40 kg / m3 and a height of between 2 and 18 cm; and a fifth three-dimensional textile layer of breathable polyester of between 100 and 200 g, wherein the mattress has a height of at least 16 cm.

[0004] The present invention relates to a high-performance mattress with comfort and adaptability to sofa-bed mechanisms.

[0005] Advantageously, the developed mattress allows its placement in sofa bed mechanisms that only accept low-performance mattresses with minimal comfort, and where the sofa bed structure offers a reduced space designed for placing mattresses of smaller dimensions than that space.

[0006] The advantage offered by the mattress of the present invention lies in having heights greater than the free height defined inside the sofa-bed mechanism, which makes it possible to offer high-performance and very comfortable mattresses, characteristics not previously attributable to sofa-bed mattresses.

[0007] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0008] In the current state of the art, mattresses suitable for sofa beds are well known; it is a standardized product on the market that is generally composed of three layers.

[0009] In this sense, the known mattresses have a first layer or first outer cover that corresponds to a textile cover with fiber of between 120 g and 400 g with viscoelastic foam of between 0.9 kPa and 2.5 kPa.

[0010] The mattress has a second layer that corresponds to a polyurethane rubber core with a height between 8 and 18 cm that varies depending on the sofa bed mechanism, and whose densities range between 20 and 45 kPa.

[0011] Additionally, the mattresses known for sofa beds include a third layer or second outer cover that corresponds to a breathable polyester textile cover or a textile cover with fiber between 120g and 400g.

[0012] In the context of this invention, it should be noted that, depending on the sofa bed mechanism, the admissible mattress height varies.

[0013] Thus, for mechanisms that allow a mattress height of 12 cm, only a reduced comfort mattress with a maximum height of 12 cm can be used.

[0014] Similarly, for mechanisms that allow a mattress of 13 cm, 14 cm, 18 cm or 21 cm in height; only a reduced comfort mattress of 13 cm, 14 cm, 18 cm or 21 cm maximum height can be placed, respectively.

[0015] Therefore, currently, to achieve the mattress heights in each case, the height of the second layer, which corresponds to the polyurethane rubber core, is varied, while maintaining the outer covers (the first and third layers mentioned above) with the same characteristics, thus achieving the desired height.

[0016] For all the above reasons, the applicant of the present invention detects the need to develop an effective solution that makes it possible to increase the performance of the mattress intended for use in sofa beds, through a proposal that allows mattress heights greater than the interior space defined by the sofa bed mechanism.

[0017] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0018] The sofa bed mattress being recommended fully and satisfactorily resolves the aforementioned problem. Specifically, it is a mattress that incorporates different materials than those previously used in this type of mattress, allowing it to offer a high level of comfort with a height greater than the space defined by the interior of the sofa bed mechanism in which it must be housed.

[0019] Thus, the sofa bed mattress of the invention is made up of at least the following layers: - a first layer or first outer cover of 100% polyester fabric with fiber weighing between 120 and 600 grams,

[0020] - a second layer of polyurethane or viscoelastic foam with a density of at least 20 kg / m 3 with a height between 1 and 18 cm.

[0021] - a third layer of polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer elastic fibers structured in a three-dimensional network with a density of between 30 and 150 kg / m 3 and with a height between 2 and 11 cm,

[0024] Based on the detailed layers, the mattress of the invention has a height of at least 16 cm when the sofa bed is unfolded.

[0025] It should be noted that the third layer is made up of elastic fibers of a polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer structured in a 3D (three-dimensional) network, and where the elastic fibers of polyester thermoplastic elastomer are connected in a three-dimensional direction by a large number of loops.

[0026] Thus, the proposed mattress is intended for placement in a sofa bed mechanism where the free interior space when the sofa bed is folded (i.e., when used as a sofa) is, for example, between 12 and 15 cm.

[0027] Advantageously, placing the mattress within the sofa bed mechanism allows the user to enjoy a high-comfort mattress when the sofa bed is unfolded (i.e., ready for use as a bed). Meanwhile, thanks to the characteristics of its layers, the mattress can be easily folded away and hidden when the sofa bed is used as a sofa.

[0028] For all the above reasons, the mattress described in this utility model application is highly recommended for use in sofa beds whose mechanism defines an interior space with a height less than the height of the mattress when unfolded, since it is capable of folding and compacting, becoming completely hidden inside the sofa bed mechanism when used as a sofa. Simultaneously, the mattress of the present invention offers greater comfort than other known mattresses used in sofa beds, as its height is greater than initially anticipated based on the interior space of the sofa bed mechanism.

[0035] In view of the figures shown, and in particular figure 1, it can be observed that in a first preferred and non-limiting embodiment of the invention, the sofa bed mattress is made up of the following layers:

[0037] - a second layer (2) of viscoelastic foam with a density of between 30 kg / m 3 and 50 kg / m 3 , and with a height between 1 and 5 cm;

[0038] - a third layer (3) of polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer elastic fibers structured in a three-dimensional network with a density of between 30 and 150 kg / m 3 and with a height between 2 and 11 cm;

Therefore, the mattress of the third preferred embodiment has a height of between 25 and 27 cm, so that it is possible to use it in sofa-bed mechanisms that have an interior free space in the folded position (when used as a sofa) of between 20 and 21 cm.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on April 29, 2025 (29.04.2025) 1 Sofa bed mattress characterized by having: - a first layer of 100% polyester fabric with fiber between 120 and 600 grams; - a second layer of polyurethane or viscoelastic foam with a density of at least 20 kg / m 3 with a height between 1 and 18 cm; - a third layer of polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer elastic fibers structured in a three-dimensional network with a density of between 30 and 150 kg / m 3 and with a height between 2 and 11 cm; - a fourth layer of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m³ 3 and between 2 and 18 cm in height; and - a fifth layer of breathable three-dimensional polyester fabric weighing between 100 and 200 grams, where the mattress has a height of at least 16 cm. 2.- Mattress for sofa bed, according to claim 1, characterized in that the second layer is viscoelastic with a density between 30 and 50 kg / m 3 and a height of between 1 and 5 cm, and where the mattress has a height of between 16 and 18 cm.

3. Sofa bed mattress, according to claim 1, characterized in that the second layer is made of polyurethane foam with a density between 22 and 32 kg / m³ 3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm, and where the mattress has a height of between 21 and 23 cm.

4. Sofa bed mattress, according to claim 1, characterized in that the second layer is made of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m³ 3 and a height between 2 and 18 cm, while the first layer includes viscoelastic foam with a density between 30 and 50 kg / m³ 3 .

5. Sofa bed mattress, according to claim 4, characterized in that it includes, between the fourth and fifth layers, a layer of polyurethane foam with a density between 20 and 40 kg / m³ 3 with a height between 2 and 18 cm, and where the mattress has a height between 25 and 27 cm.
