Abstract
Description
[0001] "Constructive arrangement applied to a chain feeder for birds"
[0002] Field of Application
[0003] 1. This utility model refers to a new constructive arrangement applied to a chain feeder for poultry, allowing for a larger area for feed passage, increasing the feed flow capacity inside the trough that transports the feed, enabling the birds to feed more uniformly.
[0004] State of the Art
[0005] 2. Chain feeders currently known in the poultry farming market are equipped with troughs arranged in a closed circuit, where the movement of feed inside the troughs occurs through a gear that fits into the gaps of a chain and pulls it through a drive, with the power source being generated by a reducer with an electric motor.
[0006] 3 In current chain feeders, the drive mechanism has a straight body and is only wide enough for the chain to pass through, which will be divided by the gear. However, this drive design results in a smaller area for the feed to pass through, which is being transported inside the feeder trough.
[0007] 4. Furthermore, the gear and shaft of the reducer themselves further reduce the feed passage area inside the trough, sometimes causing feed to overflow, generating waste and contamination of the feed which ends up falling on the ground, in addition to not distributing the ideal amount of feed in the feeder troughs.
[0008] 5 Another known drawback of chain feeders for poultry is the 90° bends in the troughs.
[0009] 6. In current equipment, the curves have wheels to allow the chain to make a 90° turn, and a sliding guide on the opposite inner side of the curve to prevent the conveyor chain from shifting out of position. 7. Some models have a fixed plate on the axle where the wheel is mounted so that the feed passing through the curve does not accumulate under the wheel.
[0010] 8. Current curves have a limitation on the amount of feed they can allow to pass through, this amount varying according to the feed being passed, varying in density, composition, and shape. This limitation on the amount of feed that can pass through occurs due to the reduction in the space through which the chain travels, precisely because it works with the wheel and the sliding guide, which end up reducing the feed passage area, in addition to reducing the contact area between the feed and the chain.
[0011] 9. As a solution to the limitation of the amount of feed flow, some curve models have bodies with greater heights, allowing a larger quantity of feed to enter them to allow for greater passage. However, this excess ends up allowing the feed to remain on the wheel; consequently, this portion of feed does not follow the flow with the transport chain, causing the feed to overflow when it reaches the curves of the chutes arranged in the circuit.
[0012] 10. In models that have a fixed plate on the axle where the wheel is mounted, the feed is prevented from remaining on the wheel. However, since the passage area and the contact area between the feed and the chain are still reduced, feed overflow occurs at the curve, generating waste.
[0013] 11 These inconveniences result in failures in the distribution and feeding of the birds, requiring the handler / feeder to distribute the feed in two stages, which can lead to uneven distribution among the birds. As a negative consequence in the breeding process, the birds end up having different weights, impacting egg production.
[0014] Description of utility model 12 The objective of the present utility model is to effectively resolve the limitations found in the chain feeders for poultry previously described.
[0015] 13 This is achieved through a new constructive arrangement applied to a chain feeder for poultry, allowing a larger area for feed passage, increasing the feed flow capacity inside the trough that transports the feed, enabling the birds to feed more uniformly. This is achieved through a chain drive for the feeder, equipped with a deflection near the drive gear associated with a set of propellers attached to the reducer shaft, assisting in transporting the feed forward in the space where the deflection is located in the drive. The curves are equipped with a set of propellers fitted to the wheel axle and attached to the wheel so that the rotation occurs in conjunction with it, allowing the feed entering the curve to be propelled into the trough flow, greatly increasing the feed flow capacity within the curve, thus preventing feed accumulation and its consequent overflow.
[0016] Advantages of the utility model
[0017] 14. The new constructive arrangement applied to chain feeders for poultry, available on the market, and their constructive characteristics offer the following advantages:
[0018] • Increased space for feed passage, due to the deviation in the drive body of the feeder chain;
[0019] • Maintains a constant flow of feed distribution without food waste;
[0020] • Increased feed passage capacity in the traction drive, due to the use of the propeller assisting in moving the feed forward;
[0021] • Improved uniformity in feed distribution allows for all feed to be distributed at once;
[0022] • Prevents feed from accumulating on the turntable wheel;
[0023] • Greater feed passage capacity on the curve, due to the use of the propeller assisting in moving the feed forward.

[0034] Detailed Description of the Utility Model
[0035] 16 According to figures 01 to 09, the new constructive arrangement applied in a chain feeder for poultry presents a traction drive assembly (1) fixed to the chutes (2) provided with a body (3) with a deflection space, where the reducer (4) is mounted with the motor (5) coupled to generate movement of the traction drive assembly (1). On the shaft (6) of the reducer (4) is coupled the traction gear (7) which transmits the movement generated by the traction drive assembly (1) to the chain (8) located inside the chutes (2) for transporting the feed. On the shaft (6) of the reducer (4) is disposed the propeller (9) just ahead of the traction gear (7) responsible for pushing the feed that passes through the deflection of the body (3), assisting and increasing the flow of feed inside the traction drive assembly (1), so that the level of feed in the chutes (2) transported by the chain (8) along the chain feeder for poultry is maintained.
[0036] 17. The operation of the set of parts intended to increase the feed flow in the curves (10) of the chain feeder for poultry is achieved by installing a propeller (11) fitted to the shaft (12) of the curve (10) and fixed to the wheel (13). The rotation of the wheel (13) and propeller (11) occurs by the contact of the moving chain (8) with the wheel (13), which in turn rotates the propeller (11) as they are fixed to each other. The rotational movement of the propeller (11) directs the feed entering the curve (10) forward, increasing the feed flow capacity in the curve (10) and maintaining the feed level in the troughs (2) transported by the chain (8) along the chain feeder for poultry.
[0037] 18 Alternatively, the propeller (9) can be fixed directly to the drive gear (7) in the drive assembly (1).
