Description

[0001] Description

[0002] EQUIPMENT TO INCREASE POWER GENERATED FROM PEDALING A

[0003] BICYCLE

[0004] Technical Field of the Invention

[0005] This invention relates to equipment used to improve the per f ormance / power generated by leg movements by extending the crank arm in a motion mechanism. In its application, this equipment functions to replace the conventional bicycle crank arm.

[0006] Background of the Invention

[0007] Various methods have been developed to increase the power generated from bicycle pedaling, typically by extending the crank arm. One of the closest inventions (prior art) is U.S. Patent No. US 11, 459, 059 B2, which discloses a step emulator device, consisting of a pair of levers, including a first lever and a second lever. The first lever includes a first cam path, and the second lever includes a second cam path; at least two gears, consisting of a distal gear and a medial gear; a distal crankshaft, positioned on the distal axis of the distal gear, and in mechanical communication with a first distal crank arm, where the first distal crank arm is rotatably connected to the first lever at its distal part. The distal crankshaft is in mechanical communication with a second distal crank arm, where the second distal crank arm is rotatably connected to the second lever at its distal part.

[0008] A medial crankshaft is positioned on the medial axis of the medial gear and in mechanical communication with a first medial crank arm, where the first medial crank arm includes a first cam that is slidingly connected to the first cam path. The medial crankshaft is in mechanical communication with a second medial crank arm, where the second medial crank arm includes a second cam and is slidingly connected to the second cam path. The first and second levers are positioned on at least one side of the gear, with each first and second lever further comprising a power modification path traced by the proximal part of the first lever. This power modification path includes a power phase and a motion phase, where the power phase has a lower curvature than the motion phase, and the power phase has linear characteristics while the motion phase has curved characteristics.

[0009] Another patent is U.S. Patent No. US 8, 979, 108 B2, which discloses a bicycle consisting of a rear wheel with a sprocket, where the rear wheel rotates on a first axis; a first chain connected to the rear wheel sprocket; two rearfacing levers with pedals, where both levers are rotatably mounted on a second axis, positioned forward relative to the first axis; a reversible chainwheel that guides the second chain; and a hub positioned on a third axis, which is forward relative to the first axis and backward relative to the second axis. The hub has two freewheels that interact with the two levers and a chainwheel, where the first and second freewheels, along with the hub's chainwheel, are configured to drive the first chain, which is connected to the rear wheel sprocket.

[0010] Each of the two levers can be operatively connected to respective segments of the second chain, linking each lever to its corresponding freewheel. The rear-facing levers are each operatively connected to respective segments of the second chain at corresponding attachment points, which define the attachment axis. Each rear-facing lever is configured to oscillate between an extreme upper pedal position and an extreme lower pedal position. At the extreme upper pedal position, a straight line guided from the second axis through the attachment axis, defined by the point of attachment of each lever to the respective segment of the second chain, aligns with the corresponding freewheel, which rotates on the third axis.

[0011] In both of the described inventions, there are several drawbacks, including the lack of integration between the generated power and the effective direction of movement within the natural range of human leg motion. Therefore, there is a need for equipment that can increase the power generated by human leg pedaling while cycling.

[0012] Brief Description of the Invention

[0013] To address the issues described in the background, this invention aims to provide equipment to increase the power generated by human leg pedaling while cycling.

[0014] The equipment for increasing the power generated from cycling consists of a frame, pair of crank arms, a pair of swing arm, and a pair of connecting arm. The frame includes a bottom bracket that acts as the axis for the crank arm, and a pivot point for the swing arm. The crank arm has an axis at the bottom bracket and a pivot point at its end, which is connected to the middle part of the connecting arm. The crank arm can rotate 360 degrees and functions as an output, transferring power through the bicycle sprocket and chain .

[0015] The swing arm has an axis on the frame and a pivot point at its end, connected to the near end of the connecting arm. The swing arm functions to regulate the movement of the connecting arm. The connecting arm consists of a pin joint at the near end, which connects to the swing arm, a pin joint in the middle, which connects to the crank arm, and a pivot point at the far end where the bicycle pedal is located. The bicycle pedal functions as the power input. Brief Description of the Drawings

[0017] Figure 2 illustrates the application of the equipment to increase the power generated from bicycle pedaling as a crank arm driver, shown from one side.

[0018] Figure 3 is a perspective view of the equipment for increasing the power generated from bicycle pedaling.

[0019] Figure 4 is a top view of the equipment for increasing the power generated from bicycle pedaling.

[0020] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0021] This invention will be explained in detail, with reference to the attached drawings.

[0022] Referring to Figure 1, it illustrates the equipment for increasing the power generated from bicycle pedaling according to this invention. The equipment consists of a frame, a crank arm (2) , a swing arm (4) , and a connecting arm ( 3 ) .

[0023] The frame consists of a bottom bracket (1) and the pivot point for the swing arm (4) . The force from the foot pressing the pedal (7) moves the connecting arm (3) , and this power is then transferred to the crank arm (2) and regulated by the swing arm (4) . The crank arm (2) rotates 360 degrees around the bottom bracket (1) , creating a circular path (a) . The pedal movement (7) follows a path (b) in the form of a closed curve. The movement of the swing arm (5) creates a reciprocating motion path (c) .

[0024] Referring to Figure 2, it shows the application of the equipment for increasing the power generated from bicycle pedaling on a bicycle, with the left side view. The rotational force from the crank arm (2) is transmitted to the sprocket-chain system (6) and then transferred to the rear wheel sprocket, causing the bicycle to move forward.

[0025] Referring to Figure 3, it shows a perspective view of the equipment for increasing the power generated from bicycle pedaling. The left crank arm (2a) is positioned 180 degrees opposite the right crank arm (2b) . As a result, the alternating movements of the left pedal (7a) and right pedal (7b) will transfer power to the left crank arm (2a) and right crank arm (2b) , allowing the bicycle to pedal simultaneously .

[0026] Referring to Figure 4, it shows the top view of the equipment for increasing the power generated from bicycle pedaling, displaying the position of the crank arm axis (1) , swing arm axis (4) , sprocket assembly (6) , crank arms (2a) and (2b) , connecting arms (3a) and (3b) , swing arms (5a) and (5b) , and pedals (7a) and (7b) , arranged from the center to the left and right sides of the bicycle system. This invention has been described in detail with reference to the attached figures. The invention is not limited to the descriptions provided above and may be subject to changes or modifications, as long as they do not extend beyond the scope of the invention as defined by the claims .
