Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure describe techniques for managing consistency of resource information associated with set A / set B resources from multiple set A / set B resource sets across training of an artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) model and inference via the AI / ML model. For example, the set A / set B resources used across the training and the inference may be reordered based on their entry identifiers (IDs) within respective set A / set B resource sets and / or set IDs of the respective set A / set B resource sets. The reordered set A / set B resources used across the training and the inference have reordered IDs. Each pair of the reordered set A / set B resources assigned a same reordered ID may use a same spatial transmission filter.

[0028] New radio (NR) provides the prospect of a thoroughly interconnected and mobile society characterized by the expectation of a high throughput, energy efficient, immersive and data-driven radio access networks (RANs) . Coupled with data-driven approaches, a RAN has the potential to develop predictive capabilities that learn from an environment through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques.

[0029] Beam management (BM) represents one use case for applying AI / ML models. A legacy BM process is time-inefficient and not scalable when a size of antenna arrays of a device increases. ML algorithms may replace sequential beam sweeping by predicting beams in both time and spatial domains.

[0030] For beam prediction, a user equipment (UE) may measure a set of beams defined as set B beams (e.g., represented as measurement resources) and predict another set of beams defined as set A beams (e.g., represented as prediction targets) using an AI / ML model. The set A beams may include channel state information -reference signal (CSI-RS) beams, and the set B beams may include synchronization signal block (SSB) beams.

[0031] The AI / ML model may be initially trained using measurements associated with the set A beams and the set B beams (e.g., training data) . The AI / ML model may then be used to predict channel characteristics associated with the set A beams.

[0032] The set A beams are associated with set A resources, such as CSI-RS resources from one or more set A / CSI-RS resource sets. The set B beams are associated with set B resources, such as SSB resources from one or more set B / SSB resource sets.

[0033] Each set A resource set includes set A resources, and the set A resources within a set A resource set are associated with entry identifiers (IDs) . For example, a first entry  / set A resource within the set A resource set may have a first entry ID and a second entry  / set A resource within the set A resource set may have a second entry ID. The set A resource set may have a set ID.

[0034] Each set B resource set includes set B resources, and the set B resources within a set B resource set are associated with entry IDs. For example, a first entry  / set B resource within the set B resource set may have a first entry ID and a second entry  / set B resource within the set B resource set may have a second entry ID. The set B resource set may have a set ID.

[0035] In some cases, training data collection for the AI / ML model and inference (or the prediction) via the AI / ML model may be carried out based on the set A / set B resources (and / or the prediction targets) from multiple set A / set B resource sets (and / or prediction target sets) . For example, a first number of the set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) may be used for the training data collection and a second number  of the set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) may be used for the inference.

[0036] For use cases where the multiple set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) are used for training data collection and inference operations, aspects of the present disclosure describe techniques for managing consistency of resource information associated with the set A / set B resources (and / or the prediction targets) from the multiple set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model. For example, the set A / set B resources (and / or the prediction targets) used across the training and the inference may be reordered (or indexed) based on their entry IDs within respective set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) and set IDs of the respective set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) . The reordered set A / set B resources (and / or prediction targets) used across the training and the inference have reordered IDs. Each pair of the reordered set A / set B resources (and / or prediction targets) , across the training and the inference, assigned a same reordered ID may use a same spatial transmission filter.

[0037] Introduction to Wireless Communications Networks

[0038] The techniques and methods described herein may be used for various wireless communications networks. While aspects may be described herein using terminology commonly associated with 3G, 4G, 5G and / or 6G wireless technologies, aspects of the present disclosure may likewise be applicable to other communications systems and standards not explicitly mentioned herein.

[0039] FIG. 1 depicts an example of a wireless communications network 100, in which aspects described herein may be implemented.

[0040] Generally, wireless communications network 100 includes various network entities (alternatively, network elements or network nodes) . A network entity is generally a communications device and / or a communications function performed by a communications device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) , a base station (BS) , a component of a BS, a server, etc. ) . For example, various functions of a network as well as various devices associated with and interacting with a network may be considered network entities. Further, wireless communications network 100 includes terrestrial aspects, such  as ground-based network entities (e.g., BSs 102) , and non-terrestrial aspects, such as satellite 140 and aircraft 145, which may include network entities on-board (e.g., one or more BSs) capable of communicating with other network elements (e.g., terrestrial BSs) and UEs.

[0041] In the depicted example, wireless communications network 100 includes BSs 102, UEs 104, and one or more core networks, such as an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) 160 and 5G Core (5GC) network 190, which interoperate to provide communications services over various communications links, including wired and wireless links.

[0042] FIG. 1 depicts various example UEs 104, which may more generally include: a cellular phone, smart phone, session initiation protocol (SIP) phone, laptop, personal digital assistant (PDA) , satellite radio, global positioning system, multimedia device, video device, digital audio player, camera, game console, tablet, smart device, wearable device, vehicle, electric meter, gas pump, large or small kitchen appliance, healthcare device, implant, sensor / actuator, display, internet of things (IoT) devices, always on (AON) devices, edge processing devices, or other similar devices. UEs 104 may also be referred to more generally as a mobile device, a wireless device, a wireless communications device, a station, a mobile station, a subscriber station, a mobile subscriber station, a mobile unit, a subscriber unit, a wireless unit, a remote unit, a remote device, an access terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a remote terminal, a handset, and others.

[0043] BSs 102 wirelessly communicate with (e.g., transmit signals to or receive signals from) UEs 104 via communications links 120. The communications links 120 between BSs 102 and UEs 104 may include uplink (UL) (also referred to as reverse link) transmissions from a UE 104 to a BS 102 and / or downlink (DL) (also referred to as forward link) transmissions from a BS 102 to a UE 104. The communications links 120 may use multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology, including spatial multiplexing, beamforming, and / or transmit diversity in various aspects.

[0044] BSs 102 may generally include: a NodeB, enhanced NodeB (eNB) , next generation enhanced NodeB (ng-eNB) , next generation NodeB (gNB or gNodeB) , access point, base transceiver station, radio BS, radio transceiver, transceiver function, transmission reception point, and / or others. Each of BSs 102 may provide  communications coverage for a respective geographic coverage area 110, which may sometimes be referred to as a cell, and which may overlap in some cases (e.g., small cell 102’ may have a coverage area 110’ that overlaps the coverage area 110 of a macro cell) . A BS may, for example, provide communications coverage for a macro cell (covering relatively large geographic area) , a pico cell (covering relatively smaller geographic area, such as a sports stadium) , a femto cell (relatively smaller geographic area (e.g., a home) ) , and / or other types of cells.

[0045] While BSs 102 are depicted in various aspects as unitary communications devices, BSs 102 may be implemented in various configurations. For example, one or more components of a BS 102 may be disaggregated, including a central unit (CU) , one or more distributed units (DUs) , one or more radio units (RUs) , a Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) , or a Non-Real Time (Non-RT) RIC, to name a few examples. In another example, various aspects of a BS 102 may be virtualized. More generally, a BS (e.g., BS 102) may include components that are located at a single physical location or components located at various physical locations. In examples in which a BS 102 includes components that are located at various physical locations, the various components may each perform functions such that, collectively, the various components achieve functionality that is similar to a BS 102 that is located at a single physical location. In some aspects, a BS 102 including components that are located at various physical locations may be referred to as a disaggregated radio access network (RAN) architecture, such as an Open RAN (O-RAN) or Virtualized RAN (VRAN) architecture. FIG. 2 depicts and describes an example disaggregated BS architecture.

[0046] Different BSs 102 within wireless communications network 100 may also be configured to support different radio access technologies, such as 3G, 4G, and / or 5G. For example, BSs 102 configured for 4G LTE (collectively referred to as Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) ) may interface with the EPC 160 through first backhaul links 132 (e.g., an S1 interface) . BSs 102 configured for 5G (e.g., 5G NR or Next Generation RAN (NG-RAN) ) may interface with 5GC 190 through second backhaul links 184. BSs 102 may communicate directly or indirectly (e.g., through the EPC 160 or 5GC 190) with each other over third backhaul links 134 (e.g., X2 interface) , which may be wired or wireless.

[0047] Wireless communications network 100 may subdivide the electromagnetic spectrum into various classes, bands, channels, or other features. In some aspects, the subdivision is provided based on wavelength and frequency, where frequency may also be referred to as a carrier, a subcarrier, a frequency channel, a tone, or a subband. For example, 3GPP currently defines Frequency Range 1 (FR1) as including 600 MHz –6 GHz, which is often referred to (interchangeably) as “Sub-6 GHz” . Similarly, 3GPP currently defines Frequency Range 2 (FR2) as including 26 –41 GHz, which is sometimes referred to (interchangeably) as a “millimeter wave” ( “mmW” or “mmWave” ) . A BS configured to communicate using mmWave / near mmWave radio frequency bands (e.g., a mmWave BS such as BS 180) may utilize beamforming (e.g., 182) with a UE (e.g., 104) to improve path loss and range.

[0048] The communications links 120 between BSs 102 and, for example, UEs 104, may be through one or more carriers, which may have different bandwidths (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 100, 400, and / or other MHz) , and which may be aggregated in various aspects. Carriers may or may not be adjacent to each other. Allocation of carriers may be asymmetric with respect to DL and UL (e.g., more or fewer carriers may be allocated for DL than for UL) .

[0049] Communications using higher frequency bands may have higher path loss and a shorter range compared to lower frequency communications. Accordingly, certain BSs (e.g., 180 in FIG. 1) may utilize beamforming 182 with a UE 104 to improve path loss and range. For example, BS 180 and the UE 104 may each include a plurality of antennas, such as antenna elements, antenna panels, and / or antenna arrays to facilitate the beamforming. In some cases, BS 180 may transmit a beamformed signal to UE 104 in one or more transmit directions 182’ . UE 104 may receive the beamformed signal from the BS 180 in one or more receive directions 182” . UE 104 may also transmit a beamformed signal to the BS 180 in one or more transmit directions 182” . BS 180 may also receive the beamformed signal from UE 104 in one or more receive directions 182’ . BS 180 and UE 104 may then perform beam training to determine the best receive and transmit directions for each of BS 180 and UE 104. Notably, the transmit and receive directions for BS 180 may or may not be the same. Similarly, the transmit and receive directions for UE 104 may or may not be the same.

[0050] Wireless communications network 100 further includes a Wi-Fi AP 150 in communication with Wi-Fi stations (STAs) 152 via communications links 154 in, for example, a 2.4 GHz and / or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency spectrum.

[0051] Certain UEs 104 may communicate with each other using device-to-device (D2D) communications link 158. D2D communications link 158 may use one or more sidelink channels, such as a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH) , a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH) , a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) , a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) , and / or a physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) .

[0052] EPC 160 may include various functional components, including: a Mobility Management Entity (MME) 162, other MMEs 164, a Serving Gateway 166, a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) Gateway 168, a Broadcast Multicast Service Center (BM-SC) 170, and / or a Packet Data Network (PDN) Gateway 172, such as in the depicted example. MME 162 may be in communication with a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) 174. MME 162 is the control node that processes the signaling between the UEs 104 and the EPC 160. Generally, MME 162 provides bearer and connection management.

[0053] Generally, user Internet protocol (IP) packets are transferred through Serving Gateway 166, which itself is connected to PDN Gateway 172. PDN Gateway 172 provides UE IP address allocation as well as other functions. PDN Gateway 172 and the BM-SC 170 are connected to IP Services 176, which may include, for example, the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) , a Packet Switched (PS) streaming service, and / or other IP services.

[0054] BM-SC 170 may provide functions for MBMS user service provisioning and delivery. BM-SC 170 may serve as an entry point for content provider MBMS transmission, may be used to authorize and initiate MBMS Bearer Services within a public land mobile network (PLMN) , and / or may be used to schedule MBMS transmissions. MBMS Gateway 168 may be used to distribute MBMS traffic to the BSs 102 belonging to a Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) area broadcasting a particular service, and / or may be responsible for session management (start / stop) and for collecting eMBMS related charging information.

[0055] 5GC 190 may include various functional components, including: an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) 192, other AMFs 193, a Session Management Function (SMF) 194, and a User Plane Function (UPF) 195. AMF 192 may be in communication with Unified Data Management (UDM) 196.

[0056] AMF 192 is a control node that processes signaling between UEs 104 and 5GC 190. AMF 192 provides, for example, quality of service (QoS) flow and session management.

[0057] Internet protocol (IP) packets are transferred through UPF 195, which is connected to the IP Services 197, and which provides UE IP address allocation as well as other functions for 5GC 190. IP Services 197 may include, for example, the Internet, an intranet, an IMS, a PS streaming service, and / or other IP services.

[0058] Wireless communication network 100 further includes beam component 198, which may be configured to perform method 1700 of FIG 17. Wireless communication network 100 further includes beam component 199, which may be configured to perform method 1700 of FIG. 17.

[0059] In various aspects, a network entity or network node can be implemented as an aggregated BS, as a disaggregated BS, a component of a BS, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, a relay node, a sidelink node, to name a few examples.

[0060] FIG. 2 depicts an example disaggregated BS 200 architecture. The disaggregated BS 200 architecture may include one or more central units (CUs) 210 that can communicate directly with a core network 220 via a backhaul link, or indirectly with the core network 220 through one or more disaggregated BS units (such as a Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) 225 via an E2 link, or a Non-Real Time (Non-RT) RIC 215 associated with a Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) Framework 205, or both) . A CU 210 may communicate with one or more distributed units (DUs) 230 via respective midhaul links, such as an F1 interface. The DUs 230 may communicate with one or more radio units (RUs) 240 via respective fronthaul links. The RUs 240 may communicate with respective UEs 104 via one or more radio frequency (RF) access links. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be simultaneously served by multiple RUs 240.

[0061] Each of the units, e.g., the CUs 210, the DUs 230, the RUs 240, as well as the Near-RT RICs 225, the Non-RT RICs 215 and the SMO Framework 245, may include one or more interfaces or be coupled to one or more interfaces configured to receive or transmit signals, data, or information (collectively, signals) via a wired or wireless transmission medium. Each of the units, or an associated processor or controller providing instructions to the communications interfaces of the units, can be configured to communicate with one or more of the other units via the transmission medium. For example, the units can include a wired interface configured to receive or transmit signals over a wired transmission medium to one or more of the other units. Additionally or alternatively, the units can include a wireless interface, which may include a receiver, a transmitter or transceiver (such as a radio frequency (RF) transceiver) , configured to receive or transmit signals, or both, over a wireless transmission medium to one or more of the other units.

[0062] In some aspects, the CU 210 may host one or more higher layer control functions. Such control functions can include radio resource control (RRC) , packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) , service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) , or the like. Each control function can be implemented with an interface configured to communicate signals with other control functions hosted by the CU 210. The CU 210 may be configured to handle user plane functionality (e.g., Central Unit –User Plane (CU-UP) ) , control plane functionality (e.g., Central Unit –Control Plane (CU-CP) ) , or a combination thereof. In some implementations, the CU 210 can be logically split into one or more CU-UP units and one or more CU-CP units. The CU-UP unit can communicate bidirectionally with the CU-CP unit via an interface, such as the E1 interface when implemented in an O-RAN configuration. The CU 210 can be implemented to communicate with the DU 230, as necessary, for network control and signaling.

[0063] The DU 230 may correspond to a logical unit that includes one or more BS functions to control the operation of one or more RUs 240. In some aspects, the DU 230 may host one or more of a radio link control (RLC) layer, a medium access control (MAC) layer, and one or more high physical (PHY) layers (such as modules for forward error correction (FEC) encoding and decoding, scrambling, modulation and demodulation, or the like) depending, at least in part, on a functional split, such as those defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) . In some aspects, the DU 230 may further host  one or more low PHY layers. Each layer (or module) can be implemented with an interface configured to communicate signals with other layers (and modules) hosted by the DU 230, or with the control functions hosted by the CU 210.

[0064] Lower-layer functionality can be implemented by one or more RUs 240. In some deployments, an RU 240, controlled by a DU 230, may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions, or low-PHY layer functions (such as performing fast Fourier transform (FFT) , inverse FFT (iFFT) , digital beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, or the like) , or both, based at least in part on the functional split, such as a lower layer functional split. In such an architecture, the RU (s) 240 can be implemented to handle over the air (OTA) communications with one or more UEs 104. In some implementations, real-time and non-real-time aspects of control and user plane communications with the RU (s) 240 can be controlled by the corresponding DU 230. In some scenarios, this configuration can enable the DU (s) 230 and the CU 210 to be implemented in a cloud-based RAN architecture, such as a vRAN architecture.

[0065] The SMO Framework 205 may be configured to support RAN deployment and provisioning of non-virtualized and virtualized network elements. For non-virtualized network elements, the SMO Framework 205 may be configured to support the deployment of dedicated physical resources for RAN coverage requirements which may be managed via an operations and maintenance interface (such as an O1 interface) . For virtualized network elements, the SMO Framework 205 may be configured to interact with a cloud computing platform (such as an open cloud (O-Cloud) 290) to perform network element life cycle management (such as to instantiate virtualized network elements) via a cloud computing platform interface (such as an O2 interface) . Such virtualized network elements can include, but are not limited to, CUs 210, DUs 230, RUs 240 and Near-RT RICs 225. In some implementations, the SMO Framework 205 can communicate with a hardware aspect of a 4G RAN, such as an open eNB (O-eNB) 211, via an O1 interface. Additionally, in some implementations, the SMO Framework 205 can communicate directly with one or more RUs 240 via an O1 interface. The SMO Framework 205 also may include a Non-RT RIC 215 configured to support functionality of the SMO Framework 205.

[0066] The Non-RT RIC 215 may be configured to include a logical function that enables non-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) workflows including model training and updates, or policy-based guidance of applications / features in the Near-RT RIC 225. The Non-RT RIC 215 may be coupled to or communicate with (such as via an A1 interface) the Near-RT RIC 225. The Near-RT RIC 225 may be configured to include a logical function that enables near-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources via data collection and actions over an interface (such as via an E2 interface) connecting one or more CUs 210, one or more DUs 230, or both, as well as an O-eNB, with the Near-RT RIC 225.

[0067] In some implementations, to generate AI / ML models to be deployed in the Near-RT RIC 225, the Non-RT RIC 215 may receive parameters or external enrichment information from external servers. Such information may be utilized by the Near-RT RIC 225 and may be received at the SMO Framework 205 or the Non-RT RIC 215 from non-network data sources or from network functions. In some examples, the Non-RT RIC 215 or the Near-RT RIC 225 may be configured to tune RAN behavior or performance. For example, the Non-RT RIC 215 may monitor long-term trends and patterns for performance and employ AI / ML models to perform corrective actions through the SMO Framework 205 (such as reconfiguration via O1) or via creation of RAN management policies (such as A1 policies) .

[0082] In various aspects, BS 102 may be described as transmitting and receiving various types of data associated with the methods described herein. In these contexts, “transmitting” may refer to various mechanisms of providing or outputting data, such as outputting data from data source 312, scheduler 344, memory 342, transmit processor 320, controller / processor 340, TX MIMO processor 330, transceivers 332a-t, antenna 334a-t, and / or other aspects described herein. Similarly, “receiving” may refer to various mechanisms of obtaining data, such as obtaining data from antennas 334a-t, transceivers 332a-t, RX MIMO detector 336, controller / processor 340, receive processor 338, scheduler 344, memory 342, and / or other aspects described herein.

[0083] In various aspects, UE 104 may likewise be described as transmitting and receiving various types of data associated with the methods described herein. In these contexts, “transmitting” may refer to various mechanisms of outputting data, such as outputting data from data source 362, memory 382, transmit processor 364, controller / processor 380, TX MIMO processor 366, transceivers 354a-t, antenna 352a-t, and / or other aspects described herein. Similarly, “receiving” may refer to various mechanisms of obtaining data, such as obtaining data from antennas 352a-t, transceivers 354a-t, RX MIMO detector 356, controller / processor 380, receive processor 358, memory 382, and / or other aspects described herein.

[0084] In some aspects, a processor may be configured to perform various operations, such as those associated with the methods described herein, and transmit (output) to or receive (obtain) data from another interface that is configured to transmit or receive, respectively, the data.

[0085] FIG. 4A, FIG. 4B, FIG. 4C, and FIG. 4D depict aspects of data structures for a wireless communications network, such as wireless communications network 100 of FIG. 1.

[0086] In particular, FIG. 4A is a diagram 400 illustrating an example of a first subframe within a 5G (e.g., 5G NR) frame structure, FIG. 4B is a diagram 430 illustrating an example of DL channels within a 5G subframe, FIG. 4C is a diagram 450 illustrating an example of a second subframe within a 5G frame structure, and FIG. 4D is a diagram 480 illustrating an example of UL channels within a 5G subframe.

[0087] Wireless communications systems may utilize orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with a cyclic prefix (CP) on the uplink and downlink. Such systems may also support half-duplex operation using time division duplexing (TDD) . OFDM and single-carrier frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDM) partition the system bandwidth (e.g., as depicted in FIG. 4B and FIG. 4D) into multiple orthogonal subcarriers. Each subcarrier may be modulated with data. Modulation symbols may be sent in the frequency domain with OFDM and / or in the time domain with SC-FDM.

[0088] A wireless communications frame structure may be frequency division duplex (FDD) , in which, for a particular set of subcarriers, subframes within the set of subcarriers are dedicated for either DL or UL. Wireless communications frame structures may also be TDD, in which, for a particular set of subcarriers, subframes within the set of subcarriers are dedicated for both DL and UL.

[0089] In FIG. 4A and 4C, the wireless communications frame structure is TDD where D is DL, U is UL, and X is flexible for use between DL / UL. UEs 104 may be configured with a slot format through a received slot format indicator (SFI) (dynamically through DL control information (DCI) , or semi-statically / statically through radio resource control (RRC) signaling) . In the depicted examples, a 10 ms frame is divided into 10 equally sized 1 ms subframes. Each subframe may include one or more time slots. In some examples, each slot may include 7 or 14 symbols, depending on the slot format. Subframes may also include mini-slots, which generally have fewer symbols than an entire slot. Other wireless communications technologies may have a different frame structure and / or different channels.

[0090] In certain aspects, the number of slots within a subframe is based on a slot configuration and a numerology. For example, for slot configuration 0, different numerologies (μ) 0 to 5 allow for 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 slots, respectively, per subframe. For slot configuration 1, different numerologies 0 to 2 allow for 2, 4, and 8 slots,  respectively, per subframe. Accordingly, for slot configuration 0 and numerology μ, there are 14 symbols / slot and 2μ slots / subframe. The subcarrier spacing and symbol length / duration are a function of the numerology. The subcarrier spacing may be equal to 2μ×15 kHz, where μ is the numerology 0 to 5. As such, the numerology μ=0 has a subcarrier spacing of 15 kHz and the numerology μ=5 has a subcarrier spacing of 480 kHz. The symbol length / duration is inversely related to the subcarrier spacing. FIG. 4A, FIG. 4B, FIG. 4C, and FIG. 4D provide an example of slot configuration 0 with 14 symbols per slot and numerology μ=2 with 4 slots per subframe. The slot duration is 0.25 ms, the subcarrier spacing is 60 kHz, and the symbol duration is approximately 16.67 μs.

[0091] As depicted in FIG. 4A, FIG. 4B, FIG. 4C, and FIG. 4D, a resource grid may be used to represent the frame structure. Each time slot includes a resource block (RB) (also referred to as physical RBs (PRBs) ) that extends, for example, 12 consecutive subcarriers. The resource grid is divided into multiple resource elements (REs) . The number of bits carried by each RE depends on the modulation scheme.

[0092] As illustrated in FIG. 4A, some of the REs carry reference (pilot) signals (RS) for a UE (e.g., UE 104 of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3) . The RS may include demodulation RS (DMRS) and / or channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) for channel estimation at the UE. The RS may also include beam measurement RS (BRS) , beam refinement RS (BRRS) , and / or phase tracking RS (PT-RS) .

[0093] FIG. 4B illustrates an example of various DL channels within a subframe of a frame. The physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) carries DCI within one or more control channel elements (CCEs) , each CCE including, for example, nine RE groups (REGs) , each REG including, for example, four consecutive REs in an OFDM symbol.

[0094] A primary synchronization signal (PSS) may be within symbol 2 of particular subframes of a frame. The PSS is used by a UE (e.g., 104 of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3) to determine subframe / symbol timing and a physical layer identity.

[0095] A secondary synchronization signal (SSS) may be within symbol 4 of particular subframes of a frame. The SSS is used by a UE to determine a physical layer cell identity group number and radio frame timing.

[0096] Based on the physical layer identity and the physical layer cell identity group number, the UE can determine a physical cell identifier (PCI) . Based on the PCI, the UE can determine the locations of the aforementioned DMRS. The physical broadcast channel (PBCH) , which carries a master information block (MIB) , may be logically grouped with the PSS and SSS to form a synchronization signal (SS)  / PBCH block. The MIB provides a number of RBs in the system bandwidth and a system frame number (SFN) . The physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) carries user data, broadcast system information not transmitted through the PBCH such as system information blocks (SIBs) , and / or paging messages.

[0097] As illustrated in FIG. 4C, some of the REs carry DMRS (indicated as R for one particular configuration, but other DMRS configurations are possible) for channel estimation at the BS. The UE may transmit DMRS for the PUCCH and DMRS for the PUSCH. The PUSCH DMRS may be transmitted, for example, in the first one or two symbols of the PUSCH. The PUCCH DMRS may be transmitted in different configurations depending on whether short or long PUCCHs are transmitted and depending on the particular PUCCH format used. UE 104 may transmit sounding reference signals (SRS) . The SRS may be transmitted, for example, in the last symbol of a subframe. The SRS may have a comb structure, and a UE may transmit SRS on one of the combs. The SRS may be used by a BS for channel quality estimation to enable frequency-dependent scheduling on the UL.

[0098] FIG. 4D illustrates an example of various UL channels within a subframe of a frame. The PUCCH may be located as indicated in one configuration. The PUCCH carries uplink control information (UCI) , such as scheduling requests, a channel quality indicator (CQI) , a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) , a rank indicator (RI) , and HARQ ACK / NACK feedback. The PUSCH carries data, and may additionally be used to carry a buffer status report (BSR) , a power headroom report (PHR) , and / or UCI.

[0099] Introduction to mmWave Wireless Communications

[0100] In wireless communications, an electromagnetic spectrum is often subdivided into various classes, bands, channels, or other features. The subdivision is often provided based on wavelength and frequency, where frequency may also be referred to as a carrier, a subcarrier, a frequency channel, a tone, or a subband.

[0101] 5th generation (5G) networks may utilize several frequency ranges, which in some cases are defined by a standard, such as 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) standards. For example, 3GPP technical standard TS 38.101 currently defines Frequency Range 1 (FR1) as including 600 MHz –6 GHz, though specific uplink and downlink allocations may fall outside of this general range. Thus, FR1 is often referred to (interchangeably) as a “Sub-6 GHz” band.

[0102] Similarly, TS 38.101 currently defines Frequency Range 2 (FR2) as including 26 –41 GHz, though again specific uplink and downlink allocations may fall outside of this general range. FR2, is sometimes referred to (interchangeably) as a “millimeter wave” ( “mmW” or “mmWave” ) band, despite being different from the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz –300 GHz) that is identified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as a “millimeter wave” band because wavelengths at these frequencies are between 1 millimeter and 10 millimeters.

[0103] Communications using mmWave / near mmWave radio frequency band (e.g., 3 GHz –300 GHz) may have higher path loss and a shorter range compared to lower frequency communications. As described above with respect to FIG. 1, a base station (BS) (e.g., 180) configured to communicate using mmWave / near mmWave radio frequency bands may utilize beamforming (e.g., 182) with a user equipment (UE) (e.g., 104) to improve path loss and range.

[0104] Overview of Beam Refinement Procedures

[0105] In mmWave systems, beam forming may be important to overcome high path-losses. As described herein, beamforming may refer to establishing a link between a base station (BS) and a user equipment (UE) , wherein both of the devices form a beam corresponding to each other. Both the BS and the UE find at least one adequate beam to form a communication link. BS-beam and UE-beam form what is known as a beam pair link (BPL) . As an example, on a downlink (DL) , a BS may use a transmit beam and a UE may use a receive beam corresponding to the transmit beam to receive the transmission. The combination of a transmit beam and corresponding receive beam may be a BPL.

[0106] As a part of beam management, beams which are used by BS and UE have to be refined from time to time because of changing channel conditions, for example, due to  movement of the UE or other objects. Additionally, the performance of a BPL may be subject to fading due to Doppler spread. Because of changing channel conditions over time, the BPL should be periodically updated or refined. Accordingly, it may be beneficial if the BS and the UE monitor beams and new BPLs.

[0107] At least one BPL has to be established for network access. As described above, new BPLs may need to be discovered later for different purposes. The BS may decide to use different BPLs for different channels, or for communicating with different BSs (such as transmit receive points (TRPs) ) or as fallback BPLs in case an existing BPL fails.

[0108] The UE monitors the quality of a BPL and the BS may refine a BPL from time to time.

[0109] FIG. 5 illustrates a diagram 500 depicting for BPL discovery and refinement. In 5G new radio (NR) , P1, P2, and P3 procedures are used for BPL discovery and refinement. A network entity (e.g., a BS such as a gNodeB (gNB) ) uses a P1 procedure to enable the discovery of new BPLs. In the P1 procedure, as illustrated in FIG. 5, the BS transmits different symbols of a reference signal, each beam formed in a different spatial direction such that several (e.g., most or all) relevant places of the cell are reached. Stated otherwise, the BS transmits beams using different transmit beams over time in different directions.

[0110] For successful reception of at least a symbol of this “P1-signal” , the UE has to find an appropriate receive beam. It searches using available receive beams and applying a different UE-beam during each occurrence of the periodic P1-signal.

[0111] Once the UE has succeeded in receiving a symbol of the P1-signal it has discovered a BPL. The UE may not want to wait until it has found the best UE receive beam, since this may delay further actions. The UE may measure a reference signal receive power (RSRP) and report the symbol index together with the RSRP to the BS. Such a report will typically contain the findings of one or more BPLs.

[0112] In an example, the UE may determine a received signal having a high RSRP. The UE may not know which beam the BS used to transmit; however, the UE may report  to the BS the time at which it observed the signal having a high RSRP. The BS may receive this report and may determine which BS beam the BS used at the given time.

[0113] The BS may then offer P2 and P3 procedures to refine an individual BPL. The P2 procedure refines the BS-beam of a BPL. For example, the BS may transmit a few symbols of a reference signal with different BS-beams that are spatially close to the BS-beam of the BPL (the BS performs a sweep using neighboring beams around the selected beam) . In P2, the UE keeps its beam constant. Thus, while the UE uses the same beam as in the BPL (as illustrated in P2 procedure in FIG. 5) . The BS-beams used for P2 may be different from those for P1 in that they may be spaced closer together or they may be more focused. The UE may measure the RSRP for the various BS-beams and indicate the best one to the BS.

[0114] The P3 procedure refines the UE-beam of a BPL (see P3 procedure in FIG. 5) . While the BS-beam stays constant, the UE scans using different receive beams (the UE performs a sweep using neighboring beams) . The UE may measure the RSRP of each beam and identify the best UE-beam. Afterwards, the UE may use the best UE-beam for the BPL and report the RSRP to the BS.

[0115] Over time, the BS and UE establish several BPLs. When the BS transmits a certain channel or signal, it lets the UE know which BPL will be involved, such that the UE may tune in the direction of the correct UE receive beam before the signal starts. In this manner, every sample of that signal or channel may be received by the UE using the correct receive beam. In an example, the BS may indicate for a scheduled signal (e.g., a sounding reference signal (SRS) , a channel state information –reference signal (CSI-RS) ) or a channel (e.g., a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) , a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) ) which BPL is involved.

[0116] Overview of Beam Management

[0117] In wireless communications, various procedures may be performed for beam management. FIG. 6 illustrates a diagram 600 depicting example operations where beam management may be performed. In initial access 602, a network entity (e.g., a base station (BS) ) may sweep through several beams, for example, via synchronization signal blocks  (SSBs) . The network entity may configure a user equipment (UE) with random access channel (RACH) resources associated with beamformed SSBs to facilitate an initial access via the RACH resources. In certain aspects, an SSB may have a wider beam shape compared to other reference signals, such as a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) . A UE may use SSB detection to identify a RACH occasion (RO) for sending a RACH preamble (e.g., as part of a contention-based Random Access (CBRA) procedure) .

[0118] In connected mode 604, the network entity and the UE may perform hierarchical beam refinement including beam selection (e.g., a process referred to as P1) , beam refinement for the transmitter (e.g., a process referred to as P2) , and beam refinement for the receiver (e.g., a process referred to as P3) . In beam selection (P1) , the network entity may sweep through beams, and the UE may report the beam with the best channel properties, for example. In beam refinement for the transmitter (P2) , the network entity may sweep through narrower beams, and the UE may report the beam with the best channel properties among the narrow beams. In beam refinement for the receiver (P3) , the network entity may transmit using the same beam repeatedly, and the UE may refine spatial reception parameters (e.g., a spatial filter) for receiving signals from the network entity via the beam. In certain aspects, the network entity and UE may perform complementary procedures (e.g., U1, U2, and U3) for uplink beam management.

[0119] In certain cases where a beam failure occurs (e.g., due to beam misalignment and / or blockage) , the UE may perform a beam failure recovery (BFR) procedure 606, which may allow a UE to return to connected mode 604 without performing a radio link failure (RLF) procedure 608. For example, the UE may be configured with candidate beams for beam failure recovery. In response to detecting a beam failure, the UE may request the network entity to perform beam failure recovery via one of the candidate beams (e.g., one of the candidate beams with a reference signal received power (RSRP) above a certain threshold) . In certain cases where RLF occurs, the UE may perform the RLF procedure 608 (e.g., a RACH procedure) to recover from the RLF.

[0120] Overview of Framework for Artificial Intelligence (AI)  / Machine Learning (ML) in a Radio Access Network (RAN)

[0121] FIG. 7 illustrates a diagram 700 depicting an example of artificial intelligence (AI)  / machine learning (ML) functional framework for radio access network (RAN) intelligence. The AI / ML functional framework includes a data collection function 702, a model (or prediction algorithm) training function 704, a model (or prediction algorithm) inference function 706, and an actor function 708, which interoperate to provide a platform for collaboratively applying AI / ML to various procedures in the RAN.

[0122] The data collection function 702 provides input data to the model training function 704 and the model inference function 706. AI / ML algorithm specific data preparation (e.g., data pre-processing and cleaning, formatting, and transformation) may not be carried out in the data collection function 702.

[0123] Examples of input data to the data collection function 702 (or other functions) may include measurements from UEs or different network entities, feedback from the actor function, and output from an AI / ML model (e.g., such as a prediction algorithm) . In some cases, analysis of data needed at the model training function 704 and the model inference function 706 may be performed at the data collection function 702. As illustrated, the data collection function 702 may deliver training data to the model training function 704 and inference data to the model inference function 706.

[0124] The model training function 704 may perform AI / ML model training, validation, and testing, which may generate model performance metrics as part of the model testing procedure. The model training function 704 may also be responsible for data preparation (e.g., data pre-processing and cleaning, formatting, and transformation) based on the training data delivered by the data collection function 702, if required.

[0125] The model training function 704 may provide model deployment / update data to the Model interface function 706. The model deployment / update data may be used to initially deploy a trained, validated, and tested AI / ML model to the model inference function 706 or to deliver an updated model to the model inference function 706.

[0126] As illustrated, the model inference function 706 may provide AI / ML model inference output (e.g., predictions or decisions) to the actor function 708 and may also provide model performance feedback to the model training function 704, at times. The  model inference function 706 may be responsible for data preparation (e.g., data pre-processing and cleaning, formatting, and transformation) based on inference data delivered by the data collection function 702, at times.

[0127] The inference output of the AI / ML model may be produced by the model inference function 706. Specific details of this output may be specific in terms of use cases. The model performance feedback may be used for monitoring the performance of the AI / ML model, at times. In some cases, the model performance feedback may be delivered to the model training function 704, for example, if certain information derived from the model inference function is suitable for improvement of the AI / ML model trained in the model training function 704.

[0128] The model inference function 706 may signal the outputs of the model to nodes that have requested them (e.g., via subscription) , or nodes that take actions based on the output from the model inference function. An AI / ML model used in a model inference function 706 may need to be initially trained, validated and tested by a model training function before deployment. The model training function 704 and model inference function 706 may be able to request specific information to be used to train or execute the AI / ML algorithm and to avoid reception of unnecessary information. The nature of such information may depend on the use case and on the AI / ML algorithm.

[0129] The actor function 708 may receive the output from the model inference function 706, which may trigger or perform corresponding actions. The actor function 708 may trigger actions directed to other entities or to itself. The feedback generated by the actor function 708 may provide information used to derive training data, inference data or to monitor the performance of the AI / ML model. As noted above, input data for a data collection function 702 may include this feedback from the actor function 708. The feedback from the actor function 708 or other network entities (e.g., via data collection function) may also be used at the model inference function 706.

[0130] The AI / ML functional framework may be deployed in various RAN intelligence-based use cases. Such use cases may include channel state information (CSI) feedback enhancement, enhanced beam management (BM) , positioning and location accuracy enhancement, and various other use cases.

[0131] Overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI)  / Machine Learning (ML) Beam Prediction

[0132] 5G-Advanced wireless networks herald the prospect of a thoroughly interconnected and mobile society characterized by the expectation of a high throughput, energy efficient, immersive and data-driven radio access networks (RANs) . Coupled with data-driven approaches, a RAN has the potential to develop predictive capabilities that learn from an environment through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques. Therefore, companies are presently integrating AI / ML technologies into the existing 5G network and devices.

[0133] Beam management (BM) represents one use case for applying AI / ML models. A legacy BM process is time-inefficient and not scalable when a size of antenna arrays of a device increases. ML algorithms may replace sequential beam sweeping by predicting beams in both time and spatial domains.

[0134] For beam prediction, a user equipment (UE) may measure a first set of transmit (TX) beams defined as set B beams and may predict a second set of TX beams defined as set A beams. The set B beams may have different characteristics such as beam shape, width and / or set of angular directions in comparison to the beams in a set A. For instance, the set B beams may be wide synchronization signal block (SSB) beams used for transmitting synchronization signals and providing coverage, whereas the set A beams may be refined channel state information -reference signal (CSI-RS) beams used for improving signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) at the UE. A wide SSB beam in a set B may be generated by a linear combination of adjacent CSI-RS beams in the set A where one SSB beam may encompass multiple (e.g., three) adjacent CSI-RS beams in azimuth direction and two CSI-RS beams in elevation direction. Thus, given an input constituted by measurements of the SSB beams, an AI / ML model may provide as output top K number of predicted CSI-RS beam indices.

[0135] The AI / ML model for the beam prediction may be trained and deployed at the UE and at a gNodeB (gNB) .

[0136] Data collection for AI / ML model training may use beam measurement and reporting frameworks. For instance, the gNB configures the UE with a CSI reporting configuration to perform measurements of the set A and set B beams. The measurements collected across various UEs and time occasions may be uploaded to a server for offline  AI / ML model training. The UE may measure reference signal (RS) resources corresponding to different TX beams using an optimal receive (RX) beam determined by previous measurements. The UE may filter instantaneous reference signal receive power (RSRP) measurements to mitigate the effects of fast fading with a layer-1 (L1) filter and collect L1-RSRP measurements.

[0137] For a UE-sided AI / ML model, data may be collected by measuring RSs corresponding to the set A and set B beams at the UE, where the set A measurements may be used to derive a best beam index to be used as a label and L1-RSRP measurements associated with the set B beams to be used as input data. For a gNB-sided AI / ML model, the UE is configured to measure the set A and set B beams and report to the gNB a best beam index in the set A beams to be used as the label in addition to the L1-RSRP measurements of the set B beams for the input data.

[0138] Once the trained AI / ML model may be deployed at the UE or the gNB, the gNB configures the UE to measure the set B beams to be used as input to the AI / ML model during inference. For the UE-sided AI / ML model, the UE predicts a top K number of beams in the set A based on L1-RSRP measurements associated with the set B beams and then reports the predicted top K number of beams to the gNB. For the NW-sided AI / ML model, the UE may be configured to report all set B beam measurements to be used as input of the AI / ML model for inference.

[0139] After the UE performs inference and reports the predicted top K number of beams to the gNB or after the gNB obtains the predicted top K number of beams based on the inference, the gNB may perform an additional step of refined measurements of the top K number of predicted beams. Alternatively, the predicted top K number of predicted beams may be used directly without a step of refined measurements to make informed decisions (e.g., about transmission control information (TCI) state activation and indication to the UE) . A downlink control message (DCI) including a TCI state may be transmitted to the UE to indicate a downlink TX beam to use for receiving downlink channels.

[0140] In some aspects, there may be consistency in beam information associated with: the set A beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model, and / or the set B beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model. The set A beams may be associated with set A  resources, such as CSI-RS resources from (or scheduled within) one or more CSI-RS resource sets. The set B beams may be associated with set B resources, such as SSB resources from (or scheduled within) one or more SSB resource sets.

[0141] Each CSI-RS resource set may include CSI-RS resources, and the CSI-RS resources within a CSI-RS resource set may be associated with entry identifiers (IDs) . For example, a first entry  / CSI-RS resource within the CSI-RS resource set may have a first entry ID and a second entry  / CSI-RS resource within the CSI-RS resource set may have a second entry ID. The CSI-RS resource set may have a set ID.

[0142] Each SSB resource set may include SSB resources, and the SSB resources within an SSB resource set may be associated with entry IDs. For example, a first entry  / SSB resource within the SSB resource set may have a first entry ID and a second entry  / SSB resource within the SSB resource set may have a second entry ID. The SSB resource set may have a set ID.

[0143] In one aspect, there may be beam number consistency associated with: the set A beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model, and / or the set B beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model. For example, a same number of SSBs, CSI-RSs / virtual RSs may be configured as the set B beams, the set A beams for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model.

[0144] In another aspect, there may be beam shape consistency associated with: the set A beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model, and / or the set B beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model. For example, a relative pointing direction and a beam width difference between physical beams with respect to two resources may remain same: across two SSB resource sets for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model, across two CSI-RS resource sets for the training of the AI / ML model, and / or across two prediction target sets (e.g., which may be set A beam sets) for the inference via the AI / ML model.

[0145] In another aspect, there may be quasi co location (QCL) consistency associated with: the set A beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the  inference via the AI / ML model, and / or the set B beams used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model.

[0146] In some aspects, the CSI-RS resource sets may be aperiodic (AP) CSI-RS resource sets. The CSI-RS resources may be non zero power (NZP) CSI-RS resources.

[0147] In some cases, each AP CSI-RS resource set may occupy a single slot. That is, NZP CSI-RS resources in the AP-CSI-RS resource set may occupy the same single slot. So, only up to 14 NZP CSI-RS resources can be configured in a single AP CSI-RS resource set. When more than 14 NZP CSI-RS resources may be needed for CSI-RS transmissions (e.g., for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model) , multiple AP CSI-RS resource sets are used for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model .

[0148] As illustrated in a diagram 800 of FIG. 8, a NZP CSI-RS resource in an AP-CSI-RS resource set is associated with a CSI-RS resource mapping (e.g., CSI-RS-ResourceMapping) . The CSI-RS resource mapping is associated with an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol in a time domain (e.g., firstOFDMSymbolInTimeDomain) indicating a symbol offset. The NZP CSI-RS resource is not associated with CSI-RS resource periodicity and offset (e.g., CSI-ResourePeriodicityandOffset) indicating at least a slot offset, since the CSI-RS resource periodicity and offset is only expected (or applicable) for periodic and semi persistent CSI-RS resources.

[0149] In some cases, each CSI associated report configuration information (e.g., for an AP CSI report) may be able to select or down select one or two CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model) from multiple / candidate CSI-RS resource sets. The candidate CSI-RS resource sets are configured via CSI report configuration (e.g., CSI-ReportConfig) .

[0150] As illustrated in a diagram 900 of FIG. 9, CSI associated report configuration information (e.g., CSI-AssociatedReportConfigInfo) includes or is associated with first resources (e.g., resourcesForChannel) , second resources (e.g., resourcesForChannel2-r17) , and a CSI report configuration ID (e.g., CSI-ReportConfigId) . The first resources indicate (selection of) a single AP CSI-RS resource set (e.g., AP-CSI-RS resource set) for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model. The second  resources indicate (selection of) two AP CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., resourceSet2-r17) for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model.

[0151] However, in some cases, there may a need of more than two AP CSI-RS resource sets for the training of the AI / ML model, the inference via the AI / ML model, and performance monitoring of the AI / ML model. For example, for a certain beam predication operation at a UE, triggering three AP CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., for transmitting the set A / B beams) may be required for the beam prediction operations.

[0152] As illustrated in a diagram 1000 of FIG. 10, the multiple AP CSI-RS resource sets include a first AP CSI-RS resource set (e.g., AP-CSI-RS resource set #1) associated with a first slot, a second AP CSI-RS resource set (e.g., AP-CSI-RS resource set #2) associated with a second slot, and a third AP CSI-RS resource set (e.g., AP-CSI-RS resource set #3) associated with a third slot. To schedule 32 set A beams via AP CSI-RSs, the first AP CSI-RS resource set, the second AP CSI-RS resource set, and the third AP CSI-RS resource are used.

[0153] Aspects Related to Beam Ordering Consistency with Multiple Aperiodic (AP) Channel State Information (CSI) Reference Signal (RS) Resource Sets

[0154] Aspects of the present disclosure describe techniques for managing consistency of resource information associated with set A / set B resources (and / or prediction targets) from multiple set A / set B resource sets (and / or prediction target sets) across training of an artificial intelligence (AI)  / machine learning (ML) model and inference via the AI / ML model. For example, the set A / set B resources (and / or the prediction targets) used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model may be reordered based on their entry identifiers (IDs) within respective set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) and set IDs of the respective set A / set B resource sets (and / or the prediction target sets) . The reordered set A / set B resources (and / or prediction targets) used across the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model have reordered IDs. Each pair of the reordered set A / set B resources (and / or prediction targets) , across the training and the inference, assigned a same reordered ID may use a same spatial transmission filter.

[0155] Particular aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented to realize one or more of the following potential advantages. In some  examples, the described techniques may enable a good and reliable performance of the AI / ML model, which may improve beam prediction results by the AI / ML model.

[0156] The techniques proposed herein for managing beam / resource information associated with different sets of beams / resources used for beam prediction may be further understood with reference to FIG. 11 -FIG. 18.

[0157] FIG. 11 depicts a call flow diagram 1100 illustrating example communication among wireless nodes (e.g., a user equipment (UE) , a gNodeB (gNB) ) for managing beam / resource information associated with different sets of beams / resources (e.g., set A beams / resources and set B beams / resources) across training of an AI / ML model (e.g., a prediction algorithm) and inference (or prediction) using the AI / ML model. The set A beams / resources may be channel state information -reference signal (CSI-RS) resources and the set B beams / resources may be synchronization signal block (SSB) resources.

[0158] The UE shown in FIG. 11 may be an example of the UE 104 depicted and described with respect to FIG. 1 and FIG. 3. The gNB depicted in FIG. 11 may be an example of the BS 102 depicted and described with respect to FIG. 1 and FIG. 3, or the disaggregated BS depicted and described with respect to FIG. 2.

[0159] As indicated at 1110, the gNB transmits first signaling to the UE. The first signaling may carry a first configuration, which may configure the UE to perform measurements on resources associated with a first set of prediction targets (e.g., from prediction target sets) and a first set of measurement resources (e.g., from measurement resource sets) to generate measurement data to train the AI / ML model. The first signaling may indicate an AI / ML model identifier associated with the AI / ML model.

[0160] The resources associated with the first set of prediction targets may be the set A resources (e.g., the set A beams) such as CSI-RS resources. The prediction target sets may include set A resource sets. Each set A resource set may include set A resources.

[0161] The first set of measurement resources may include the set B resources (e.g., the set B beams) such as SSB resources. The measurement resource sets may include set B resource sets. Each set B resource set may include set B resources.

[0162] In some cases, the first set of measurement resources may further include the set A resources. The measurement resource sets may include set A resource sets, and each set A resource set may include set A resources.

[0163] The measurements on the resources (and / or prediction targets) may include reference signal receive power (RSRP) values and / or signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) values.

[0164] For example, for training the AI / ML model, the UE may be signaled with a certain associated ID and scheduled with a certain number (RA, RB) of SSB / CSI-RS resources based on a certain number (SA≥1, SB≥1) of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets as set A, set B beams. For instance, the gNB may schedule RA number of set A resources from SA number set A resource sets for training the AI / ML model. The gNB may also schedule RB number of set B resources from SB number set B resource sets for training the AI / ML model.

[0165] The associated ID may be interpreted as dataset / configuration / scenario / codebook / functionality / model identifier, which may identify gNB-side conditions related with UE assumptions associated with AI / ML model life cycle management (e.g., data collection for the AI / ML model, training the AI / ML model, deployment of the AI / ML model, inference using the AI / ML model, performance monitoring of the AI / ML model, activation of the AI / ML model, deactivation of the AI / ML model, and / or switching of the AI / ML model) .

[0166] In some cases, as long as the same associated ID is identified across training of the AI / ML model and inference using the AI / ML model, gNB-side conditions for beam prediction may be assumed to be the same by the UE across the training and the inference. The gNB-side conditions for the beam prediction may include number / ordering / indexing of the set A / B beams, absolute / relative pointing directions (e.g., with respect to boresight direction relative to a center of transmit antenna panel) , beam shapes (i.e., angular specific beam forming gains) , quasi colocation (QCL) relationships across / within the set A / B beams, and temporal parameters (e.g., periodicity of the set A / B beams, target future occasions for temporal prediction) .

[0167] As indicated at 1120, the UE trains the AI / ML model based on the measurement data.

[0168] For example, the UE may train the AI / ML model based on measurements of the RA, RB of the SSB / CSI-RS resources, to predict channel characteristics (e.g., layer 1 (L1) RSRP values, SINR values, probabilities to be top 1 / top K set A beams, and top K set A beam IDs with respect to L1-RSRP / SINR or with respect to probabilities to be top 1 / top K set A beams) on the set A beams based on actual measurements on the set B beams.

[0169] As indicated at 1130, the gNB transmits second signaling to the UE. The second signaling may carry a second configuration, which may configure the UE to use measurements on a second set of the measurement resources as an input to the AI / ML model to predict channel characteristics associated with a second set of the prediction targets. The second signaling may also indicate the AI / ML model identifier associated with the AI / ML model. The second set of the prediction targets may be set A resources (e.g., the set A beams) . The first second set of the measurement resources may be set B resources (e.g., the set B beams) .

[0170] For example, for prediction / inference via the AI / ML model, the UE may be signaled with the same associated ID (e.g., the AI / ML model identifier) and scheduled with RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources (e.g., based on S′B≥1 number of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets) configured as set B beams, to predict and report channel characteristics regarding RA number of prediction targets configured as set A beams (e.g., associated with S′A≥1 number of prediction target sets) via the AI / ML model. For instance, the gNB may schedule RB number of set B resources from S′B number set B resource sets to predict channel characteristics regarding RA number of set A resources from S′Anumber set A resource sets.

[0171] In another example, the UE may be further scheduled with RA number of SSB / CSI-RS resources based on S"A≥1 number of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets to monitor performance of the AI / ML model or to use these RA number of SSB / CSI-RS resources as additional inputs to the AI / ML model.

[0172] As indicated at 1140, the UE predicts the channel characteristics associated with the second set of the prediction targets via the AI / ML model.

[0173] For example, the UE may predict, using the AI / ML model, the channel characteristics corresponding to the RA number of prediction targets configured as the set A beams.

[0174] In certain aspects, there may be resource ordering consistency across the set A resources and the set B resources (e.g., from set A / set B resource sets) used for the training and the inference (e.g., for UE-side beam prediction) . For example, there may be beam ordering consistency across beams (e.g., reference signals from different reference signal sets) used for the training and the inference.

[0175] In certain aspects, the set A resources (e.g., from the set A resource sets) used for the training may be reordered based on entry IDs of the set A resources within their respective set A resource sets and / or set IDs for the respective set A resource sets. The set B resources (e.g., from the set B resource sets) used for the training may be reordered based on entry IDs of the set B resources within their respective set B resource sets and / or set IDs for the respective set B resource sets.

[0176] For example, the RA, RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources scheduled for the training may be reordered based on set IDs of the SA, SB number of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and entry IDs of respective RA, RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources inside their respective SA, SB number of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets.

[0177] The reordered RA, RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources for the training are assigned reordered IDs.

[0178] In certain aspects, the set A resources (e.g., from the set A resource sets) used for the inference may be reordered based on entry IDs of the set A resources within their respective set A resource sets and / or set IDs for the respective set A resource sets. The set B resources (e.g., from the set B resource sets) used for the inference may be reordered based on entry IDs of the set B resources within their respective set B resource sets and / or set IDs for the respective set B resource sets.

[0179] For example, the RA, RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources or RA number of prediction targets scheduled for the inference may be reordered: firstly based on set IDs of the S′A, S′B number of prediction target sets, SSB / CSI-RS resource sets or the S"Anumber of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets, and secondly based on entry IDs of respective RA, RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources or RA number of prediction targets inside their respective S′A, S′B number of prediction target sets, SSB / CSI-RS resource sets or S"Anumber of SSB / CSI-RS resource sets.

[0180] The reordered RA, RB number of SSB / CSI-RS resources for the inference are assigned reordered IDs. The reordered RA number of prediction targets for the inference are also assigned reordered IDs.

[0181] In certain aspects, each pair of reordered set B resources assigned a same reordered ID (e.g., that are used for the training and the inference) may use a same spatial transmission filter. For example, one set B resource (after reordering) for the training may be assigned a first reordered ID and one set B resource (after reordering) for the inference may also be assigned the first reordered ID. The first reordered ID may indicate a first resource in a sequence of reordered set B resources. This pair of set B resources assigned the same first reordered ID may use the same spatial transmission filter. In another example, one set B resource (after reordering) for the training may be assigned a second reordered ID and one set B resource (after reordering) for the inference may also be assigned the second reordered ID. The second reordered ID may indicate a second resource in a sequence of the reordered set B resources. This pair of set B resources assigned the same second reordered ID may use the same spatial transmission filter.

[0182] In certain aspects, each pair of reordered set A resources / prediction targets assigned a same reordered ID (e.g., that are used for the training and the inference) may use a same spatial transmission filter. For example, one set A resource / prediction target (after reordering) for the training may be assigned a first reordered ID and one set A resource / prediction target (after reordering) for the inference may also be assigned the first reordered ID. The first reordered ID may indicate a first resource / prediction target in a sequence of reordered set A resources / prediction targets. This pair of set A resources / prediction targets assigned the same first reordered ID may use the same spatial transmission filter. In another example, one set A resource / prediction target (after  reordering) for the training may be assigned a second reordered ID and one set A resource / prediction target (after reordering) for the inference may also be assigned the second reordered ID. The second reordered ID may indicate a second resource / prediction target in a sequence of the reordered set A resources / prediction targets. This pair of set A resources / prediction targets assigned the same second reordered ID may use the same spatial transmission filter.

[0183] In certain aspects, set IDs of different sets (e.g., such as set A / B resource sets, prediction target sets) are cell specific and configured via radio resource control (RRC) signaling. The RRC signaling may include a CSI measurement configuration information element (IE) . In one aspect, the set IDs for the set A resource sets may be configured or defined for a specific serving cell. In another aspect, the set IDs for the set B resource sets may be configured or defined for a specific serving cell. In another aspect, the set IDs for the prediction target sets may be configured or defined for a specific serving cell.

[0184] For example, the set IDs of the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and / or the set IDs for the prediction target sets used for the training and the inference are defined for a serving cell, as radio resource control (RRC) configured set IDs, within CSI measurement configuration IE (e.g., CSI-MeasConfig) of the serving cell.

[0185] In some aspects, the reordered IDs may be determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the set IDs of the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets or the prediction target sets. The reordered IDs may be further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured SSB / CSI-RS resources within the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets resource sets or the prediction targets within the prediction target sets.

[0186] In one example, the set IDs for the CSI-RS resource sets are defined in serving cell configuration (e.g., ServingCellConfig) of the serving cell. As illustrated in a diagram 1200 of FIG. 12, the serving cell configuration may indicate or include CSI measurement configuration IE. The CSI measurement configuration IE may indicate or include a non zero power (NZP) CSI-RS resource set list (e.g., nzp-CSI-RS-ResourceSetToAddModList) . As illustrated, the NZP CSI-RS resource set list may include five NZP CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSet) . Each NZP CSI-RS resource set is associated with a NZP CSI-RS resource set ID (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS- ResourceSetId) . In this example, three NZP CSI-RS resource sets associated with NZP CSI-RS resource set IDs 2, 3, and 4 may be scheduled for the training as the set A / B beams or scheduled for the inference as the set B beams. Reordered IDs may be determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the set IDs of the NZP CSI-RS resource sets. The reordered IDs may be further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured NZP CSI-RS resources within the NZP CSI-RS resource sets.

[0187] In some aspects, the gNB may request the UE to report predicted channel characteristics for a (certain or restricted) number of non-transmitted prediction targets (e.g., the set A beams) , which may be partitioned into multiple prediction target sets. The prediction target sets may be configured within the CSI measurement configuration IE for the serving cell during the inference along with the set IDs of the prediction target sets defined under the same CSI measurement configuration IE. In this example, reordered IDs may be determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the set IDs of the prediction target sets. The reordered IDs may be further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured prediction targets within the prediction target sets.

[0188] In certain aspects, set IDs of different sets (e.g., such as set A / B resource sets, prediction target sets) are configured as set entry IDs (e.g., ordered set entry IDs) via the RRC signaling. The RRC signaling may include a CSI associated report configuration IE. In such cases, the reordered IDs may be determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the ordered set entry IDs of the resource sets or prediction target sets. The reordered IDs may be further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured resources within the resource sets or prediction targets within the prediction target sets.

[0189] For example, the set IDs of the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and / or the set IDs for the prediction target sets, scheduled for the training and the inference, are configured within the CSI associated report configuration IE as the ordered set entry IDs. The ordered set entry IDs for the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and / or the prediction target sets per the CSI associated report configuration IE may link to the set IDs for the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and / or the prediction target sets for a specific serving cell per the CSI measurement configuration IE.

[0190] As illustrated in a diagram 1300 of FIGs. 13A-B, CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., CSI-AssociatedReportConfigInfo) is associated with or include a CSI report configuration ID (e.g., CSI-ReportConfigId) . The CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with or include a resource set IE (e.g., resourceSetsForSetAbeams) to indicate the CSI-RS resource sets for scheduling the set A beams. The CSI-RS resource sets is a subset of sets selected from multiple CSI-RS resource sets per CSI resource configuration (e.g., CSI-ResourceConfig) , which is associated with CSI report configuration (e.g., CSI-ReportConfig) by referring to set entry IDs defined in a CSI-RS resource set list (e.g., nzp-CSI-RS-ResourceSetList) per the CSI resource configuration. The CSI-RS resource sets may indicate or include ordered set entry IDs for the CSI-RS resource sets within the CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., a CSI-RS resource set associated with a first entry has its ordered set entry ID represented as a downselection ID (DownselectionId) (#2) , a CSI-RS resource set associated with a second entry has its ordered set entry ID represented as DownselectionId (#5) , a CSI-RS resource set associated with a third entry has its ordered set entry ID represented as DownselectionId (#6) ) .

[0191] As further illustrated in FIGs. 13A-B, CSI measurement configuration IE indicates or includes the CSI report configuration and the CSI resource configuration. The CSI report configuration is associated with or indicates the CSI report configuration ID. The CSI report configuration indicates or includes resources for channel measurement (e.g., ResourcesforChannelMeasurement) . The resources for channel measurement include CSI-RS resources. The resources for channel measurement is associated with a CSI resource configuration ID (e.g., CSI-ResourceConfigId) . The CSI resource configuration ID is associated with the CSI resource configuration. The CSI resource configuration indicates or includes a CSI-RS resource set list (e.g., such as a NZP CSI-RS resource set list) . The NZP CSI-RS resource set list indicates set IDs for the CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., such as NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#2) associated with a first entry in the NZP CSI-RS resource set list, NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#3) associated with a second entry in the NZP CSI-RS resource set list, NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#5) associated with a third entry in the NZP CSI-RS resource set list, ) NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#7) associated with a fourth entry in the NZP CSI-RS resource set list, ) NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#9) associated with a fifth entry in the NZP CSI-RS  resource set list, ) NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#10) associated with a sixth entry in the NZP CSI-RS resource set list) .

[0192] As illustrated in FIGs. 13A-B, the ordered set entry IDs for the CSI-RS resource sets per the CSI associated report configuration IE link to set IDs for the CSI-RS resource sets per the CSI measurement configuration IE. For example, the CSI-RS resource set with the DownselectionId (#2) is linked to the NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#3) , the CSI-RS resource set with the DownselectionId (#5) is linked to the NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#9) , and the CSI-RS resource set with the DownselectionId (#6) is linked to the NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#10) .

[0193] In some cases, temporal intervals among the multiple CSI-RS resource sets may be signaled using the resource set IE.

[0194] In some cases, for reordering, the IDs of the CSI-RS resource sets may be the set entry IDs of the CSI-RS resource sets that are defined within the resource set IE. The reordering of the set entry IDs of the CSI-RS resource sets may be based on an ascending descending order of the set entry IDs of the CSI-RS resource sets.

[0195] In certain aspects, the set IDs of the different sets (e.g., such as the set A / B resource sets, the prediction target sets) are configured as the ordered set entry IDs via the RRC signaling and the RRC signaling may include a resource set list (e.g., ResourceSet-List) or a prediction target set list (e.g., per the CSI resource configuration corresponding to the CSI associated report configuration IE) .

[0196] In one example, the resource set list may be a CSI-RS resource set list (e.g., Nzp-CSI-RS-ResourceSetList) . In another example, the resource set list may be a CSI-RS and SSB resource set list (e.g., CSI-SSB-ResourceSetList) . In another example, the resource set list may be a prediction target set list (e.g., PredictionTargetSetList) .

[0197] As illustrated in a diagram 1400 of FIGs. 14 A-B, ordered set entry IDs for CSI-RS resource sets per CSI associated report configuration IE are linked to set IDs for the CSI-RS resource sets in a resource set list per CSI resource configuration. For example, the CSI-RS resource set with the DownselectionId (#2) is linked to NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#8) associated with a second entry in the resource set list, the CSI-RS resource set with the DownselectionId (#5) is linked to NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#3) associated with a fifth entry in the resource set list, and the CSI-RS resource set with the  DownselectionId (#6) is linked to NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#6) associated with a sixth entry in the resource set list.

[0198] In certain aspects, set IDs of different sets (e.g., such as set A / B resource sets, prediction target sets) are configured with respect to a involved CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., as CSI associated report configuration information entry IDs) . In such cases, reordered IDs are determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the ordered set entry IDs of the resource sets or the prediction target sets within a CSI associated report configuration information list.

[0199] In one example, each CSI associated report configuration IE may include or indicate a single set A / B resource set or a prediction target set. The set IDs of the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and / or the set IDs for the prediction target sets (e.g., that are used for the training and the inference) may be based on the CSI associated report configuration information entry IDs (e.g., of the SSB / CSI-RS resource sets and / or the prediction target sets) in the CSI associated report configuration information list (e.g., associatedReportConfigInfoList) with respect to a same CSI aperiodic trigger state.

[0200] In another example, each CSI associated report configuration IE may include or indicate a single CSI-RS resource set for the set A beams. Multiple CSI associated report configuration IEs may include or indicate multiple CSI-RS resource sets. The multiple CSI associated report configuration IEs may be associated with the CSI associated report configuration information list with respect to the same CSI aperiodic trigger state (e.g., such that the multiple CSI-RS resource sets as the set A beams may be triggered by a same downlink control information (DCI) ) . The set IDs of the CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., for the training and the inference) may be entry IDs (e.g., of the CSI-RS resource sets) with respect to multiple CSI associated report configuration IEs, for the training and the inference, per the CSI associated report configuration information list.

[0201] In some cases, all of the multiple CSI associated report configuration IEs may be linked to or associated with same CSI report configuration.

[0202] In some cases, the gNB may signal the AI / ML model identifier associated with the AI / ML model to the UE, using the first signaling and the second signaling, via the CSI report configuration. The UE, based on the CSI report configuration, may determine  that the CSI-RS resource sets per the multiple CSI associated report configuration IEs are all set A beams with respect to the AI / ML model identifier.

[0203] In some cases, involved CSI associated report configuration IEs may be identified based on considering whether the involved CSI associated report configuration IEs are linked to the same CSI report configuration indicating the AI / ML model identifier associated with the AI / ML model.

[0204] As illustrated in a diagram 1500 of FIGs. 15A-B, a CSI associated report configuration information list includes or indicates first CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., corresponding to a first entry ID for a first (involved) CSI-RS resource set) , second CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., corresponding to a second entry ID for a second CSI-RS resource set) , third CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., corresponding to a third entry ID for a third CSI-RS resource set) , fourth CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., corresponding to a fourth entry ID for a fourth (involved) CSI-RS resource set) , fifth CSI associated report configuration IE (e.g., corresponding to a fifth entry ID for a fifth (involved) CSI-RS resource set) .

[0205] The involved CSI associated report configuration IEs (e.g., for the training and the inference) include the first CSI associated report configuration IE, the fourth CSI associated report configuration IE, and the fifth CSI associated report configuration IE.

[0206] Each CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with a resource set (e.g., resourceSet) and a CSI report configuration ID (e.g., CSI-ReportConfigId) . In one example, the first CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with a CSI report configuration ID (e.g., CSI-ReportConfigId (#3) ) and resourceSet. The CSI-ReportConfigId (#3) is linked to CSI-ReportConfigId (#3) defined via same CSI report configuration per CSI measurement configuration. The resourceSet per the first CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with a CSI-RS resource set ID (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#9) ) per a resource set list per CSI resource configuration per the CSI measurement configuration. In another example, the fourth CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with the CSI-ReportConfigId (#3) and the resourceSet. The resourceSet per the fourth CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with a CSI-RS resource set ID (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#3) ) per the resource set list. In another example, the fifth CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with the  CSI-ReportConfigId (#3) and the resourceSet. The resourceSet per the fifth CSI associated report configuration IE is associated with a CSI-RS resource set ID (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#10) ) per the resource set list.

[0207] In certain aspects, after a first reordering of the set A resources from the set A resource sets, the set B resources from the set B resource sets, and the prediction targets from the prediction target sets that are used for the training and the inference (e.g., based on set IDs for respective set A resource sets, set B resource sets, and prediction target sets) , a second reordering of the set A resources from the set A resource sets, the set B resources from the set B resource sets, and the prediction targets from the prediction target sets may be performed. The second reordering may be performed of previously reordered set A resources, previously reordered set B resources, and previously reordered prediction targets. In one example, the second reordering of the set A resources and the set B resources may be based on an ascending order of entry IDs of resources within their respective set A resource sets and respective set B resource sets. In another example, the second reordering of the set A resources and the set B resources may be based on a descending order of entry IDs of resources within their respective set A resource sets and respective set B resource sets.

[0208] A diagram 1600 of FIGs. 16A-B depicts first reordered resources at 1610 (e.g., first reordered CSI-RS resources where reordering was based on set IDs for respective CSI-RS resource sets) . The first reordered CSI-RS resources are associated with a same AI / ML model identifier of the AI / ML model. A second reordering is performed of these CSI-RS resources. The second reordering of the CSI-RS resources is based on each CSI-RS resource entry ID in its respective CSI-RS resource set.

[0209] The second reordered CSI-RS resources at 1620 include a CSI-RS resource 2 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#2) ) , a CSI-RS resource 3 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#3) ) , a CSI-RS resource 7 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#7) ) , a CSI-RS resource 4 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#4) ) , v a CSI-RS resource 5 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#5) ) , a CSI-RS resource 9 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#9) ) , a CSI-RS resource 8 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#8) ) , a CSI-RS resource 7 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#7) ) , a CSI-RS resource 25 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#25) ) , a CSI-RS resource 1 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#1) ) , a CSI-RS resource 12 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#12) ) , a CSI-RS resource 19 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource (#19) ) .

[0210] As shown at 1620 and 1630, CSI-RS resource 2, the CSI-RS resource 3, the CSI-RS resource 7, the CSI-RS resource 4, the CSI-RS resource 5, and the CSI-RS resource 9 are associated with a CSI resource set ID 15 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#15) ) . The CSI-RS resource 8, the CSI-RS resource 7, and the CSI-RS resource 25 are associated with a CSI resource set ID 17 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#17) ) . The CSI-RS resource 1, the CSI-RS resource 12, and the CSI-RS resource 19 are associated with a CSI resource set ID 9 (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSetId (#9) ) .

[0211] Each of the CSI resource set ID 15, the CSI resource set ID 17, and the CSI resource set ID 9 is associated with a different CSI-RS resource set (as shown at 1640) . Each CSI-RS resource set includes CSI-RS resources (e.g., that are used for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model) .

[0212] In certain aspects, a first reordering of the set A resources from the set A resource sets, the set B resources from the set B resource sets, and the prediction targets from the prediction target sets (e.g., based on set IDs for respective set A resource sets, set B resource sets, prediction target sets) may be ignored, while a second reordering of the set A resources from the set A resource sets, the set B resources from the set B resource sets, and the prediction targets from the prediction target sets may be performed (e.g., based on serving cell based / defined IDs for the set A resources, the set B resources, and the prediction targets that are used for the training of the AI / ML model and the inference via the AI / ML model) . For example, an RRC configuration of each CSI-RS resource (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-Resource) may be associated with a serving cell defined resource ID (e.g., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceId) . The serving cell defined resource IDs for the CSI-RS resources may be used to reorder the CSI-RS resources an ascending (or a descending) order.

[0213] Example Method for Wireless Communications

[0214] FIG. 17 shows an example of a method 1700 for wireless communications at a wireless node for managing resource information associated with different sets of resources used for beam prediction. The wireless node may be a user equipment (UE) , such as the UE 104 of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3.

[0215] Method 1700 begins at 1710 with receiving first signaling configuring the wireless node for training a prediction algorithm with a first quantity of first resources  from one or more first resource sets, and a second quantity of second resources from one or more second resource sets. In some cases, the operations of this step refer to, or may be performed by, circuitry for receiving and / or code for receiving as described with reference to FIG. 18.

[0216] The first quantity of first resources from the one or more first resource sets may include one or more set B resources (e.g., one or more set B beams) from one or more set B resource sets. Each set B resource set may include set B resources. The set B resources (or beams) may include synchronization signal block (SSB) resources (or beams) . The set B beams are beams used for measurement. In one example, the first signaling may configure 10 set B resources from 4 set B resource sets. In another example, the first signaling may configure 15 set B resources from 5 set B resource sets.

[0217] The second quantity of second resources from the one or more second resource sets may include one or more set A resources (e.g., one or more set A beams) from one or more set A resource sets. Each set A resource set may include set A resources. The set A resources (or beams) may include channel state information -reference signal (CSI-RS) resources (or beams) . The set A beams are beams targeted for prediction. In one example, the first signaling may configure 8 set A resources from 3 set A resource sets. In another example, the first signaling may configure 12 set A resources from 4 set A resource sets.

[0218] Method 1700 then proceeds to 1720 with training the prediction algorithm based on measurements of the first quantity of first resources and measurements of the second quantity of the second resources. In some cases, the operations of this step refer to, or may be performed by, circuitry for training and / or code for training as described with reference to FIG. 18.

[0219] Method 1700 then proceeds to 1730 with receiving second signaling configuring the wireless node with a third quantity of first resources from one or more first resource sets, and a fourth quantity of prediction targets from one or more prediction target sets. In some cases, the operations of this step refer to, or may be performed by, circuitry for receiving and / or code for receiving as described with reference to FIG. 18.

[0220] The third quantity of first resources from the one or more first resource sets may include one or more set B resources (e.g., such as one or more set B beams) from one or more set B resource sets. In one example, the second signaling may configure 10 set B resources from 3 set B resource sets. In another example, the second signaling may configure 15 set B resources from 4 set B resource sets.

[0221] The fourth quantity of prediction targets from the one or more prediction target sets may include one or more set A resources (e.g., such as one or more set A beams) from one or more set A resource sets. In one example, the second signaling may configure 8 set A resources from 4 set A resource sets. In another example, the second signaling may configure 12 set A resources from 3 set A resource sets.

[0222] Method 1700 then proceeds to 1740 with using the prediction algorithm for inference to predict channel characteristics for the fourth quantity of prediction targets based on measurements of the third quantity of first resources. In some cases, the operations of this step refer to, or may be performed by, circuitry for using and / or code for using as described with reference to FIG. 18.

[0223] In certain aspects, the training and inference use reordered identifiers (IDs) , each based on an entry ID of a resource or prediction target and an ID of a corresponding resource set or prediction target set.

[0224] In certain aspects, each pair of first resources assigned a same reordered ID for training and inference uses a same spatial transmission filter.

[0225] In certain aspects, each pair of a second resource and a prediction target assigned a same reordered ID for training and inference uses a same spatial transmission filter.

[0226] In certain aspects, the training uses reordered IDs for the first quantity of first resources and reordered IDs for the second quantity of second resources, each reordered ID of a first resource for training depends on an entry ID of that first resource within a first resource set and an ID for that first resource set, and each reordered ID of a second resource depends on an entry ID of that second resource within a second resource set and an ID for that second resource set.

[0227] In certain aspects, the inference uses reordered IDs for the third quantity of first resources and reordered IDs for the fourth quantity of prediction targets, each reordered ID of a first resource for inference depends on an entry ID of a the first resource within a first resource set and an ID for that first resource set, and each reordered ID of a prediction target depends on an entry ID of the prediction target within a prediction target set and an ID for that prediction target set.

[0228] In certain aspects, IDs for the one or more first resource sets that contain the first quantity and the third quantity of first resources, IDs for the one or more second resource sets, and IDs for the one or more prediction target sets are cell-specific and configured via radio resource control (RRC) signaling.

[0229] In certain aspects, the RRC signaling comprises a CSI measurement configuration information element (IE) .

[0230] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the IDs of the resource sets or prediction target sets.

[0231] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured resources within the resource sets or prediction targets within the prediction target sets.

[0232] In certain aspects, IDs for the one or more first resource sets that contain the first quantity and the third quantity of first resources, IDs for the one or more second resource sets, and IDs for the one or more prediction target sets are cell-specific and configured as ordered set entry IDs via RRC signaling.

[0233] In certain aspects, the RRC signaling comprises at least one of: a CSI associated report configuration IE; a resource set list; or a prediction target set list.

[0234] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the ordered set entry IDs of the resource sets or prediction target sets.

[0235] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured resources within the resource sets or prediction targets within the prediction target sets.

[0236] In certain aspects, IDs for the one or more first resource sets that contain the first quantity and the third quantity of first resources, IDs for the one or more second resource sets, and IDs for the one or more prediction target sets are configured with respect to a involved channel state information Associated Report configuration information element.

[0237] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are determined using a first step, based on ascending or descending order of the ordered set entry IDs of the resource sets or prediction target sets within an associated report configuration information list .

[0238] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are further determined, using a second step, based on ascending or descending order of entry IDs for configured resources within the resource sets or prediction targets within the prediction target sets.

[0239] In certain aspects, reordered IDs are determined based on an order of IDs for configured resources within the resource sets or prediction targets within the prediction target sets.
