[0003] The present disclosure relates to a herbicidal combination comprising a carbamate herbicide and a diphenyl ether herbicide. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to a method for controlling weeds by applying an effective amount of the herbicidal combination thereof.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE:
[0005] Herbicides are chemical substances, which are used to control unwanted plants / weeds. The mode of action for herbicides is a biochemical or a physical mechanism, which disrupts or alters one or more of the metabolic processes of the unwanted plants / weed, thereby controlling their growth. Therefore, when and how any herbicide should be applied may be determined by the mode of action of the herbicide.
[0006] Furthermore, there are certain species or groups of unwanted plants / weeds, which are susceptible to certain herbicides and not susceptible to certain herbicides. This may be because either the herbicides use different biochemical pathways, or the herbicides have slightly different enzymes. In situations where one herbicide is ineffective, additional herbicide(s) with different modes of action may provide better results.
[0007] Asulam, also known as methyl A-(4-aminophenyl)sulfonylcarbamate), is a broadspectrum carbamate herbicide. Asulam is a plant growth inhibitor which inhibits folate synthesis by suppression of dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS) in plants. The structure of asulam is represented as:

[0009] Asulam is especially useful for post-emergence control of perennial grasses in crops such as sugarcane, soybean, cotton, etc. It provides effective control for a wide variety of herbicide-resistant and herbicide-tolerant weeds while reducing phyto toxicity in crops.
[0010] Oxyfluorfen is a diphenyl ether herbicide used for broad spectrum pre- and post- emergent control of annual broadleaf and grassy weeds in a variety of tree fruit, nut, vine, and field crops. It is a contact herbicide, and light is required for it to affect target plants. This herbicide inhibits the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), an essential enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants. The structure of oxyfluorfen is represented as: Furthermore, herbicidal combinations known in the art usually have some disadvantages. They have none or insufficient herbicidal activity against specific unwanted plants / weeds, the spectrum of unwanted plants / weeds which can be controlled with the herbicides is not broad enough, the selectivity and compatibility of the herbicides with crops is too low, thereby causing unwanted damage and / or reduced yield of the crops, the initial herbicidal activity is not acceptable or not strong enough, and / or the herbicidal activity does not last long enough. For these reasons, there is a constant need to develop herbicidal combinations which overcome the aforementioned disadvantages. There also exists a need for an environmentally safe herbicidal combination that can selectively control unwanted plants / weeds, while leaving other plants and crops unharmed.
[0011] OBJECTIVES OF THE DISCLOSURE:
[0012] It is a primary objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination for controlling or preventing unwanted plants / weeds in crops.
[0013] It is another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination for efficient weed control, weed suppression and weed eradication.
[0014] It is another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination possessing enhanced efficacy over the individual herbicides.
[0015] It is yet another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination comprising highly effective herbicidal actives for selective and non- selective weed control.
[0016] It is another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination comprising highly effective herbicidal actives for an efficient bum-down program.
[0017] It is yet another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination to control, suppress or prevent a wide spectrum of weeds comprising both dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous, broad-leaved, and grassy weeds. It is yet another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination which is safe to use, effective and can be applied pre-emergence, postemergence or at the time of sowing.
[0018] It is another objective of the present disclosure to provide a herbicidal combination achieving increased yield in the crops to which they are applied, by reducing the number of weeds in the crops.

[0020] SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE:
[0021] In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a herbicidal combination comprising a carbamate herbicide and a diphenyl ether herbicide.
[0022] Another aspect of the present disclosure provides a herbicidal composition comprising a carbamate herbicide, a diphenyl ether herbicide, and at least one agrochemically acceptable excipient.
[0023] An aspect of the present disclosure also provides a process of preparing a herbicidal combination / compo sition comprising a carbamate herbicide and a diphenyl ether herbicide.
[0024] Yet another aspect provides use of a herbicidal combination comprising a carbamate herbicide and a diphenyl ether herbicide for effective control of weeds.
[0025] Another aspect of the present disclosure provides a method of controlling weeds comprising applying to a plant or a locus thereof, a herbicidal combination comprising a carbamate herbicide and a diphenyl ether herbicide. An aspect of the present disclosure also provides a kit-of-parts comprising a component of carbamate herbicide and another component of diphenyl ether herbicide. The said components may be mixed at the time of application as per the given set of instructions.

The term crop shall include a multitude of desired crop plants or an individual crop plant growing at a locus. The said locus could be a weed, an area adjacent to the weed, soil adapted to support growth of the weed, a root of the weed and / or foliage of the weed.
[0042] As used herein, the term “phytotoxicity” refers to any adverse effect or reaction on plant growth, physiology, or metabolism caused by any chemical substance, fertilizer, herbicide, heavy metal, etc.
[0043] As used herein, the term “L-glufosinate” or “Glufosinate-P” includes the L-isomer of Glufosinate, a salt and an ester thereof. The L-enantiomer of glufosinate acts by inhibition of glutamine synthetase thereby causing accumulation of toxic levels of ammonium ion and indirectly stopping photosynthesis. It is also known as phosphinothricin or (S)-2-amino-4-(hydroxy(methyl)phosphonoyl)butanoic acid. The combination as claimed in claim 1, wherein the diphenyl ether herbicide is selected from the group comprising oxyfluorfen, acifluorfen, aclonifen, bifenox, chlomethoxyfen, chlornitrofen, ethoxyfen, etnipromid, fluorodifen, fluoroglycofen, fluoronitrofen, fomesafen, fucaomi, furyloxyfen, halosafen, lactofen, nitrofen, nitrofluorfen, salts, derivatives, or combinations thereof.
3. The combination as claimed in claim 2, wherein the diphenyl ether herbicide is oxyfluorfen.
4. The combination as claimed in claim 3, wherein asulam and oxyfluorfen are present in a weight ratio from about 1:25 to about 25: 1.
5. The combination as claimed in claim 1, wherein the combination comprises at least one additional herbicide selected from the group comprising glyphosate, L-glufosinate, glufosinate, or combinations thereof.
6. The combination as claimed in claim 5, wherein asulam and glyphosate or L- glufosinate are present in a weight ratio from about 1:25 to about 25: 1.
7. The combination as claimed in claim 5, wherein oxyfluorfen and glyphosate or L-glufosinate are present in a weight ratio from about 1:25 to about 25: 1.
8. Use of the herbicidal combination as claimed in claim 1, for controlling weeds by concurrent or subsequent or sequential application.
9. A method for controlling weeds, wherein the method comprises applying to a plant or a locus thereof, an effective amount of a herbicidal combination comprising: asulam; and at least one diphenyl ether herbicide.
10. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the combination comprises at least one additional herbicide selected from the group comprising glyphosate, L- glufosinate, glufosinate, or combinations thereof.
11. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the method comprises: asulam applied at an application rate from about 1000 g a.i. / ha to about 2000 g a.i. / ha; oxyfluorfen applied at an application rate from about 1 g a.i. / ha to about 800 g a.i. / ha; glyphosate applied at an application rate from about 1 g a.i. / ha to about 1800 g a.i. / ha; andL-glufosinate applied at an application rate from about 1 g a.i. / ha to about 1800 g a.i. / ha.
12. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the weeds are selected from Spermacoce densiflora, Digitaria insularis, Commelina benghalensis, Bidens subalternans, Euphorbia hirta, Amaranthus hybridus, Eleusine indica, or combinations thereof.
13. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the combination provides from about 48% to about 100% control of the weeds.
14. A herbicidal composition comprising: asulam; at least one diphenyl ether herbicide; andat least one agrochemically acceptable excipient.
15. The composition as claimed in claim 14, wherein the composition comprises at least one additional herbicide selected from the group comprising glyphosate, L-glufosinate, glufosinate, or combinations thereof.
