Description

[0001] QUICK-RELEASE MECHANISM FOR SUPPORTING A PORTABLE TOOL

[0002] Technical field

[0003] The present disclosure relates to a quick release mechanism for attaching a hook for supporting a portable tool. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a quick release mechanism for a harness used to distribute the weight when operating power tools and a quick-release mechanism for disconnecting the power tool from the harness.

[0004] Background

[0005] Portable power tools such as trimmers and clearing saws are widely used in both professional and domestic settings for various tasks including gardening and forestry. To enhance the usability and comfort of these tools, they are often used in conjunction with harnesses that distribute the weight of the tool across the user's body. A crucial feature of these harnesses is the quick-release mechanism, which allows the user to swiftly detach the tool in emergency situations, thereby ensuring safety and convenience.

[0006] Quick-release mechanisms play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of harnesses for carrying power tools and are subject to specific regulatory requirements. These mechanisms enable the rapid and secure detachment of a power tool from a harness, and may thereby prevent accidents and mitigate the risk of injury to the operator. It is essential that a quickrelease mechanism can be operated under load and allows for the tool to be released using one hand.

[0007] The design and implementation of such mechanisms, however, present several challenges. The mechanism must be durable and resistant to accidental disengagement during tool use. At the same time, the mechanism is preferably intuitive for the user, allowing for quick disengagement in emergency situations. Ease of installment as well as engagement, and disengagement of the mechanism under normal conditions are also of importance.

[0008] Existing solutions for quick-release mechanisms offer various designs for attaching and detaching the tool from the harness. However, these prior art solutions come with several inherent disadvantages.

[0009] For instance, some designs involve complex components that can wear out over time, leading to the need for frequent maintenance. Furthermore, the complexity of existing mechanisms may prove challenging to install and replace without needing to replace a larger part of the harness system. Intricate design and numerous components also contribute to higher manufacturing costs, making it less economically feasible for widespread use.

[0010] Therefore, there is a need for an improved quick-release mechanism that addresses these limitations.

[0050] The following disclosure relates to a quick-release mechanism, a quick release arrangement and quick-release system. A harness 30 may be connected to a quick-release mechanism 10 according to the present disclosure. The harness 30 could also be used with a quick-release arrangement comprising a hip pad 60 and a quick-release mechanism, a quickrelease arrangement and / or a quick-release system according to the present disclosure.

[0051] According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a harness system may be provided which comprises a harness 30 and a quick release system. The harness 30 of said harness system may be a harness of the type described with reference to Fig. 1, although it may be envisioned that other harness designs may be utilized.

[0052] The tool may be attached to the harness 30 by means of a quick-release mechanism according to the present disclosure. In Fig. 2-7, a quick-release mechanism 10 for carrying a hand-held motor-driven tool on a harness is shown. Fig. 2-7 further depicts a quick-release arrangement 50 and quick-release system comprising the same. The quick-release system may be adapted to be connected to a harness 30, for example to a harness 30 as described with reference to Fig. 1.

[0053] In Fig. 2 a quick-release system 70 comprising a quick-release arrangement 50 and a hook 20 provided with a strap according to an aspect of the present disclosure is shown. The hook 20 may comprise a loop 26 to which the strap may be permanently or releasably fastened. The hook 20 may further comprise a locking device 24 that prevents the tool from coming off the hook 20 unintentionally during use of the tool. The strap is not clearly visible in Fig. 2 and therefore the details regarding the connection of the strap to the hook 20 and to the quick-release arrangement 50, more specifically to the quick-release mechanism 10 of the quick-release arrangement will be covered in further detail with reference to later figures of this disclosure.

[0054] Referencing Fig. 2, the quick-release arrangement 50 comprises a quick-release mechanism 10 and a hip pad 60 comprising a mounting interface 300. The hip pad 60 is configured to be arranged on a harness 30.

[0055] The hip pad 60 may be arranged for separating the body an operator from a tool, thereby reducing strain and improving comfort of the operator. The hip pad may be arranged such that, when the harness 30 is worn by the user, the hip pad 60 hangs down from the harness 30. The hip pad may hang down from the harness 30 such that the hip pad 60 is placed close to one of the hips of the operator. The hip pad 60 is with advantage made of a durable and protective material such as stiff, plastic material like HDPE (high density polyethylene) or polyamide. The hip pad 60 can also be made of elastomeric material, preferably a stiff elastomeric material. By the term "hip pad" is meant any means with the purpose of protecting a user of the tool. For example, the tool can be arranged to the hip pad 60, such that the hip pad 60 is arranged between the tool and the user.

[0056] Attachment means 64 for connecting the hip pad 60 to a harness 30 may be provided on at least one section of the hip pad 60. In the exemplary embodiment of Fig. 2 such an attachment means 64 is provided as a passage in a top section of the hip pad 60. The attachment means 64 may be configured to receive a rope or strap of a harness 30, for example a guide rope as shown in Fig. 1, to pass through, thereby connecting the hip pad 60 to the harness. The attachment means 64 may enable the hip pad 60 to be movable in relation to the harness 30. The hip pad 60 may be configured to hang down from the harness 30. The hip pad being movable and adjustable in relation to the harness 30 may enhance user comfort by allowing the hip pad 60 to be positioned optimally for different body types and preferences. This adjustability can improve weight distribution, reducing strain on the user's body and increasing overall stability. The ability to move the hip pad 60 may furthermore protect the user more effectively from the tool being carried.

[0057] The quick-release arrangement in Fig. 2 comprises a quick-release mechanism 10. The quick-release mechanism 10 is configured to be opened such that the hook 20 is released from the harness 30. The quick-release mechanism 10 comprises a housing part 100 and a lever part 200, wherein the lever part 200 is pivotably connected to the housing part 100 and configured to pivot around a pivot axis A to open the quick-release mechanism 10. The quickrelease mechanism 10 is configured to retain the strap 40. The strap 40 is provided on the hook 20, i.e. the strap 40 is connected to the hook 20. The quick-release mechanism 10 is configured to retain the strap 40 when the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed state. The housing part 100 is configured to be releasably mounted to the mounting interface 300 connected to the harness 30.

[0058] Accordingly, the quick-release mechanism 10 may in the closed state be configured to retain the strap 40.

[0059] The lever part 200 is pivotable around the pivot axis A. The lever part 200 may be pivotable between a closed position, corresponding to a closed state of the quick-release mechanism 10, and an open position, corresponding to an open state of the quick-release mechanism 10. The quick-release mechanism 10 may be configured such that when the lever part 200 is in the open position the strap 40 and thereby the hook 20 is released from the quick-release mechanism 10.

[0060] An opposite end of the lever part 200 to the end of the lever part 200 pivotably connected to the housing part 100 may comprise a handle 240. The lever part 200 may be configured to be moved from a closed position toward an open position by a pivot motion in a direction that moves the handle 240 of the lever part 200 away from the housing part 100.

[0061] In one embodiment, the lever part 200 may be formed in one piece. Additionally or alternatively, the housing part 100 may be formed in one piece. Preferably, the lever part 200 and / or the housing part 100 may be in a polymeric material.

[0062] The lever part 200 and housing part 100 may be configured to retain the strap (not visible in Fig. 2) between them when the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed state. More details concerning this retention will be detailed in reference to other figures of this disclosure.

[0063] As aforementioned, the quick-release arrangement 50 further comprises the mounting interface 300. The mounting interface 300 may be configured to receive the quick-release mechanism 10. More specifically the mounting interface 300 may be configured to receive the housing part 100 of the quick-release mechanism 10. The mounting interface 300 may be integrally formed with the hip pad 60. By integrating the mounting interface 300 with the hip pad 60, the overall structural integrity of the quick-release arrangement 50 may be improved. The integration can improve the robustness and reduce the risk for detachment or failure of the quick-release arrangement 50 under load, by providing a more secure and stable connection for the quick-release mechanism 10.

[0064] Moreover, an integrally formed mounting interface 300 may simplify the manufacturing process by reducing the number of separate components that need to be assembled. This not only decreases production costs but also reduces the potential for assembly errors, which may lead to a more consistent and reliable quick-release arrangement 50. The integration may also eliminate the need for additional fasteners or bonding agents between the hip pad 60 and the mounting interface 300, which may become points of weakness or failure over time.

[0065] Besides being formed integrally, the mounting interface 300 could be connected to the hip pad 60 in another manner. For example but not limited to, through the use of fasteners such as screws or bolts, the use of adhesive bonding and / or the use of snap-fit connections. These alternative methods may offer flexibility in manufacturing and can be chosen based on specific design requirements and use cases. The mounting interface 300 may comprise at least two walls 310 protruding from a main body 62 of the hip pad 60. The slot may comprise the at least two walls 310.

[0066] The term “main body” refers to the central padded structure of the hip pad 60 which may be ergonomically contoured to fit the curves of the body of a user. The at least two walls 310 protrude from the main body 62 of the hip pad 60 in a direction at least partially perpendicular from the surface of the main body 62. More specifically it may be said that the at least two walls 310 protrude in a direction at least partially perpendicular from the principal surface of the main body 62 of the hip pad 60. By the term "principal surface of the hip pad" is meant the main surface of a side of the hip pad 60, which side faces away from an operator of the hip pad 60, when the hip pad 60 is worn by the operator, or the remaining surface of the side of the hip pad 60, if attached devices and protruding parts are removed, i.e. a plain hip pad 60.

[0067] Turning to Fig. 3, a cross-section side view of an embodiment of a quick-release system 70 is illustrated. The quick-release system 70 comprises the hook 20 provided with the strap 40. To connect the strap 40 to the hook 20 one end of the strap 40 may be threaded through the loop 26 of the hook 20 and then fastened back onto itself. The strap 40 may be fastened to itself by means of sewing. Other possible fastening means include but are not limited to using an adhesive, a buckle, eyelets and / or grommets.

[0068] The strap 40 may comprise a locking portion 42 configured to be locked in place between a locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 and a portion 122 of the housing part 100 when the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed state. Preferably, a base 120 of the housing part 100 comprises the portion 122. The portion 122 of the housing part 100 is configured to secure a strap 40 by locking it between itself and the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200. This configuration may maintain a firm grip on the strap 40, preventing unintended slippage that could compromise safety or functionality of the quick-release mechanism 10. In at least some of the described embodiments, the portion 122 comprises a groove in the base 120 of the housing part 100. This groove may enhance the mechanical interlock between the strap 40 and the housing part 100.

[0069] Alternatively or additionally, the portion 122 may comprise a protrusion. The protrusion may be arranged to face the strap 40. In one embodiment, the portion 122 may be textured, for example with a series of ridges or grooves. The added texture may increase friction between the housing part 100 and the strap 40, further preventing slippage even under significant loads or vibrations. Additionally, the portion 122 may incorporate any and all combinations of one or more depressions, one or more protrusions and anti-slip texture. Each of the proposed configurations aims to enhance the reliability of the quick-release mechanism 10. The portion 122 may be formed as an unaltered portion, e.g. planar portion, of the base 120 meaning it may not comprise a groove, protrusion or texture not present on the rest of the base 120. Depending on use case, and structural elements of for example the strap 40 or the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 it may not be necessary for the portion 122 to be configured differently from the rest of the base 120 of the housing part 100.

[0070] In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the strap 40 comprises a retention portion 44 provided at an opposite end of the strap 40 from the end 46 connected to the hook 20. Accordingly, the first end of the strap 40 may be connected to the hook 20. The second end, opposite to the first, may be provided with the retention portion 44. The retention portion 44 is formed by a double-folding of the strap 40 in this exemplary embodiment.

[0071] The double-folding of the strap 40 may create a thicker section of the strap 40 arranged next to, and preferably above, the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 when the strap 40 is arranged in the quick-release mechanism 10. When the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed state, this increased thickness may prevent the strap 40 from being accidentally released due to slippage as the retention portion 44 would not fit through the space between the locking portion 220 and the housing part 100, thereby preventing any unintended release or movement of the strap 40, enhancing the safety and stability of the quick-release system 70. Naturally the strap 40 may be designed such that the retention portion 44 is thicker or in another manner fulfils the same function. For example at least part of the strap 40 may be made from a material resistant to slipping.

[0072] The portion of the strap 40 configured to be locked between the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 and the portion 122 of the housing part 100 may be referred to as the interlocking portion 42 of the strap 40. The interlocking portion 42 may be configured to prevent accidental removal of the strap. For example, the interlocking portion may be more textured, shaped and / or made from a material resistant to slipping to reduce the risk of accidental removal of the strap 40 when the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed state.

[0073] The lever part 200 may comprise the locking portion 220 configured to retain the strap 40 against the portion 122 of the base 120 of the housing part 100 when the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed position. The lever part 200 may be pivotable around the pivot axis A between a closed position, corresponding to the closed state of the quick-release mechanism 10, wherein the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 locks the strap 40 against the portion 122 of the housing part 100, and an open position, corresponding to an open state of the quick-release mechanism 10, wherein the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 is disengaged from the strap 40 whereby the hook 20 is released from the quickrelease mechanism 10.

[0074] The locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 may comprise a protrusion, e.g. a locking portion protrusion, extending radially relative to the pivot axis A. The locking portion 220, e.g. said protrusion, may preferably extend towards the housing part 100, e.g. the portion 122 of the housing part 100, at least when the lever part 200 is in the closed position.

[0075] Thereby, the locking portion 220 may clamp the strap 40 against the housing part 100, e.g. the portion 122 of the housing part 100.

[0076] In the exemplary embodiment of Fig. 3 the housing part 100 comprises a snap-fit arrangement 110 configured to releasably engage with the mounting interface 300.

[0077] The snap fit arrangement 110 may be arranged on the base 120 of the housing part 100, preferably on a surface of the base 120 configured to face the mounting interface 300. Additionally or alternatively, the aforementioned surface of the base 120 may be configured to face the hip pad 60 when the housing part 100 is in a mounted position in relation to the mounting interface 300. A mounting interface base 320 of the mounting interface 300 may comprise at least one mating snap-fit arrangement 330 for engaging with the snap-fit arrangement 110 of the housing part 100. The snap-fit arrangement 110 and mating snap-fit arrangement 330 may be configured to snap the housing part 100 into a mounted position in relation to the mounting interface 300. The snap-fit arrangement 110 and the mating snap-fit arrangement 330 may be configured to engage to releasably retain the housing part 100 in the mounted position relative to the mounting interface 300.

[0078] In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the snap-fit arrangement 110 comprises at least one protrusion extending from the base 120 of the housing part 100. The mating snap-fit arrangement 330 may comprise one or more through-going holes extending through the hip pad 60. The at least one protrusion may be configured to engage the one or more through-going holes to releasably retain the housing part 100 to the mounting interface 300.

[0079] The snap-fit arrangement 110 and / or mating snap-fit arrangement 330 may be in a resilient material, whereby the resulting deformation of the engagement between snap-fit arrangement 110 and the mating snap-fit arrangement 330 when the housing part 100 is in the mounted position relative to the mounting interface 330 causes the housing part 100 to be retained to the mounting interface 300.

[0080] In one embodiment, the snap-fit arrangement 110 may comprise one or more depressions in the base 120 of the housing part 100 and the mating snap-fit arrangement 330 of the mounting interface 300 could comprise one or more protrusions on the mounting interface base 320.

[0081] More specifically the protrusion of the snap-fit arrangement 110 may be provided on a bottom side of the base 120 of the housing part 100. The bottom side of the base 120 may be the side opposite to the side of the base 120 configured to receive the strap 40 provided on the hook 20 for holding a portable tool. Accordingly, a top side of the base 120 may be configured to face lever part 200 and / or the strap and a bottom side of the base 120 may be configured to face the mounting interface 300. The bottom side of the base 120 may also be the side configured to face a mounting interface base 320 of the mounting interface 300, when the housing part 100 is mounted to the mounting interface 300, wherein said mounting interface base 320 is substantially parallel with the principal surface of the main body 62 of the hip pad 60.

[0082] The snap-fit arrangement 110 may in some examples comprise multiple protrusions on the base 120 and / or the at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100. The snap-fit arrangement 110 may further comprise one or more grooves and or holes in the base 120 and or at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100.

[0083] The snap-fit arrangement 110 of the housing part 100 may provide a stable yet easily releasable connection between the quick-release mechanism 10 and the mounting interface 300. This configuration may allow for quick and efficient attachment and detachment of the mechanism, which can enhance user convenience and reduce the time and effort required for installation and removal.

[0084] Additionally, the snap-fit mechanism 10 may offer a reliable and stable engagement, ensuring that the quick-release mechanism 10 remains firmly in place during use, thereby improving safety and functionality. Moreover, by eliminating the need for additional tools or fasteners, the snap-fit design can simplify the overall system and potentially reduce manufacturing costs.

[0085] In Fig. 4 an exploded view of an exemplary embodiment of a quick-release mechanism 10 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. To the left is an embodiment of the lever part 200 and to the right an embodiment of the housing part 100. The housing part 100 and the lever part 200 may be pivotably connected by means of a snap-fit connection. The snap-fit connection may be advantageous as no tools are needed for assembly of the quick-release mechanism 10. Furthermore, the lever part 200 and housing part 100 may be removably attached to each other such that an operator may replace one of these parts without needing to replace the other. An increased modularity of the quick-release mechanism may thereby be achieved by the snap-fit connection. The snap-fit connection between the lever part 200 and housing part 100 may furthermore ease instalment, and replacement of the quick-release mechanism 10.

[0086] As shown in the embodiment of Fig. 4, the lever part 200 may comprise at least one pin 250, wherein the pin is concentric with the pivot axis A and is configured to form a pivotable connection with the housing part 100. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the at least one pin 250 is chamfered. The chamfering of the at least one pin may ease assembly and disassembly of the lever part 200 from the housing part 100, reducing wear and tear on the components. As depicted, the end portion of the pin 250 may be chamfered such that at least a portion of the outer surface of an end portion of said pin 250 surface extends substantially diagonally.

[0087] The housing part 100 may comprise at least one receiving connector 150 for connecting with the at least one pin 250. In the exemplary embodiment of Fig. 4 the at least one receiving connector 150 comprises a hole.

[0088] The housing part 100 in this exemplary embodiment comprises at least two walls 180. The at least two walls extend in a direction substantially perpendicular to the surface of the base 120 of the housing part 100. More specifically, the at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100 may extend in a direction substantially perpendicular from the side of the base 120 configured to make contact with the strap 40 when the strap 40 is in an inserted position between the lever part 200 and housing part 100. The at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100 may thereby form a protective surface on either side of the strap 40 when the strap is in an inserted position of the quick-release mechanism 10. The at least two walls 180 may improve the stability of the quick-release mechanism 10, more particularly it may reduce the risk of the strap 40 configured to be locked in the quick-release mechanism 10 when it is in a closed state from being displaced. The at least two walls 180 may be configured to abut the at least two walls 310 of the mounting interface 300 when the housing part 100 is in a mounted position in relation to the mounting interface 300. The contact between the at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100 and the at least two walls 310 of the mounting interface may improve the stability and structural integrity of the quick-release mechanism 10.

[0089] The at least one receiving connector 150 of the housing part 100 may be provided on at least one of the at least two walls 180.

[0090] One may define a first end of the lever part 200 as the portion of the lever part 200 configured to be pivotably connected to the housing part 100. A second end of the lever part 200 may be defined as the portion comprising the handle 240. The first and second end of the lever part 200 may be connected by a linking portion 260.

[0091] As aforementioned, the lever part 200 may comprise a locking portion 220, formed as a protrusion. Said locking portion 220 may be arranged as an axial protrusion relative to the pivot axis A. The locking portion 220 may alternatively be formed as a protrusion on the linking portion 260. The locking portion 220 is preferably arranged on the lever part 200 such that it extends toward the base 120 of the housing part 100 when the lever part 200 is mounted to the housing part 100 and the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a closed state.

[0092] The lever part 200 may comprise at least one retention portion 230 for releasably retaining the lever part 200 to the housing part 100 when the lever part 200 is in a closed position. The retention portion 230 may be arranged on the linking portion 260. The retention portion 260 may preferably be arranged on the linking portion 260 near the handle 240 of the lever part 200.

[0093] The at least one retention portion 230 may be configured to be released from an engagement with the housing part 100 in response to a force facing away from the housing part 100 being applied to the handle 240 of the lever part 200 thereby pivoting the lever part 200 away from the housing part 100 moving it from a closed position toward an open position. The retention portion 230 may comprise a protrusion 232 configured to engage with the housing part 100 in a snap-fit connection when the lever part 200 is in a closed position. The housing part 100 may comprise at least one groove 130 configured to engage with the protrusion 232 of the retention portion when the lever part 200 is in a closed position corresponding to a closed state of the quick-release mechanism 10.

[0094] The at least one retention portion 230 may be configured to be temporarily deformed upon the lever part 200 engaging with the housing part 100. The retention portion 230 may be deformed in a direction substantially parallel with the pivot axis A. The retention portion 230 may be in a resilient material, whereby the resulting deformation of the engagement between the retention portion 230 and the housing part 100 when the lever part 200 is in a closed position causes the lever part 200 to be retained to the housing part 100. The closing motion of the lever part 200 may bring the at least one retention portion 230 toward the housing part 100. The closing motion may thereby cause the retention portion 230 to abut at least one of the at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100. The retention portion 230 may be deformed by the at least one of the at least two walls 180 as the lever part 200 is brought towards a closed position. The retention portion 230 may be deformed such that the snap-fit connection between the lever part 200 and the housing part 100 is formed between the retention portion 230 and an inner surface of at least one of the at least two walls 180.

[0095] The housing part 100 may comprise a guiding arrangement 160 configured to slidingly guide the housing part 100 toward a mounted position in relation to the mounting interface 300. The guiding arrangement 160 may facilitate an easier and more accurate alignment of the housing part 100, ensuring consistent and reliable engagement. Furthermore the guiding arrangement may provide a more stable and secure attachment of the housing part 100 to the mounting interface 300 when the housing part 100 is in a mounted position relative to the mounting interface 300.

[0096] The guiding arrangement 160 may comprise at least one guide portion 162 for engaging with a corresponding at least one guiding track 360 of the mounting interface 300.

[0097] The housing part 100 may further comprise a locking portion 170 configured to form a bayonet coupling with a corresponding portion 370 of the mounting interface.

[0098] One may define an inner side of the at least two walls 180 of the housing part 100 as the sides facing toward the base 120 of the housing part 100. An outer side of the at least two walls 180 may be opposite to said inner side. The outer side of the at least two walls 180 may be configured to face the at least two walls of the mounting interface 300 when the housing part 100 is in a mounted position. The at least one guide portion 162 may be arranged on an outer side of one or both of the at least two walls 180.

[0099] In the depicted embodiment, the lever part 200 may be connected to the housing part 100 by means of the at least one pin 250 being snapped into the at least one locking portion 170 of the housing part 100. This connection between the lever part 200 and housing part 100 may be pivotable.

[0100] To lock the strap 40 provided on the hook 20 in the quick-release mechanism 10, the strap 40 may be inserted between the lever part 200 and the housing part 100. The strap 40 may be inserted when the quick-release mechanism 10 is the opened state. When the quickrelease mechanism 10 is in said opened state, the handle 240 of the lever part 200 is pivoted away from the housing part 100. In the opened state of the quick-release mechanism 10 the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 may be pivoted away from the portion 122 of the housing part 100 such that a space is formed between them. The strap 40 may be inserted into the quick-release mechanism 10 through this space.

[0101] To move the quick-release mechanism 10 toward a closed position the handle 240 of the lever part 200 may be pivoted toward the housing part 100. The quick-release mechanism 10 may be considered closed, e.g. to be in the closed state, when the handle 240 of the lever part 200 is unable to be pivoted further toward the housing part 100, e.g. upon the lever part 200 engages the housing part 100. Upon the lever part 200 reaching the closed position, the retention portion 230 of the lever part 200 may engage, e.g. snap into place in, a groove 130 of the housing part 100. The connection between the groove 130 and the retention portion 230 may further secure the lever part 200 in a closed position. As the handle 240 of the lever part 200 is pivoted toward the housing part 100 the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 may be pivoted toward the base 120 of the housing part 100. As the locking portion 220 is pivoted toward the base 120, the space between the locking portion 220 and the portion 122 of the base 120 may decrease and the strap 40 inserted between them may thereby be locked in place.

[0102] Especially if a tool is connected to the hook 20 provided with the strap 40 the weight of the tool may pull down on the strap 40 inserted in the quick-release mechanism 10. The force on the strap 40 may be at least partially resultant on the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200. The downward facing force on the strap 40 may help the quick-release mechanism 10 to remain closed. The downward force applied to the strap 40 may be transmitted to the locking portion 220 resulting in a torque on the lever part 200 toward the housing part 100 thereby maintaining the lever part 200 in a closed position.

[0103] To open the quick-release mechanism 10 a user may push the handle 240 of the lever part 200 away from housing part 100. For a user, for example wearing a harness 30 equipped with the quick-release mechanism 10, the opening direction may correspond with a movement of the handle 240 away from their body. If the quick-release mechanism 10 is equipped with a retention portion 230 and corresponding groove a user may disconnect this snap-fit connection by pushing the handle 240 in the same direction. This means opening of the quickrelease mechanism 10 may be performed in one smooth movement that may be possible to perform with one hand.

[0104] As the quick-release mechanism 10 is opened the space between the locking portion 220 and the portion 122 of the housing part 100 may increase. The space may increase as the locking portion 220 of the lever part 200 is pivoted away from the base 120 of the housing part 100 thereby releasing the strap 40 from the quick-release mechanism 10.

[0105] Fig. 5 shows a top view of the quick-release mechanism 10 according to an embodiment. In Fig. 5, the lever part 200 is mounted to the housing part 100 in this embodiment. In this embodiment the retention portion 230 is configured as a protrusion and configured to engage with a corresponding groove 130 of the housing part 100. The guiding arrangement 160 of the comprises a protrusion extending outward from the base of the housing part 100 such that it may engage with the slot of the mounting interface 300 and be slidingly guided toward a mounted position in relation to the mounting interface 300.

[0106] Fig. 6 shows the mounting interface 300 according to an embodiment. The mounting interface 300 of this embodiment is integrally formed on a hip pad 60. The mounting interface 300 is shown to comprise the guiding track 360 arranged on a side of at least one of the at least two walls 310 facing the housing part 100 when the quick-release mechanism 10 is in a mounted position.

[0107] The guiding track 360 may further comprise a notch 362 configured to receive the guiding arrangement 160 when the housing part 100 is brought to a mounted position. When the housing part 100 is in a mounted position the engagement between the notch 362 of the guiding track 360 and the guiding arrangement 160 of the housing part 100 may act as a bayonet coupling. The mounting interface 300 may further comprise a groove 370 configured to receive the locking portion 170 of the housing part 100 when the housing part 100 is in amounted position. When the housing part 100 is in a mounted position relative to the mounting interface 300 the engagement between the groove 370 of the mounting interface 300 and the locking portion 170 may act as a bayonet coupling. The at least one bayonet coupling formed between the housing part 100 and the mounting interface 300 may provide a stable yet easily releasable connection between the quick-release mechanism 10 and the mounting interface 300. The at least one bayonet coupling may offer a reliable and stable engagement, ensuring that the quick-release mechanism 10 remains firmly in place during use, thereby improving safety and functionality. Moreover, by eliminating the need for additional tools or fasteners, the bayonet coupling design can simplify the overall system and potentially reduce manufacturing costs.

[0108] The mounting interface 300 may comprise a slot configured to receive the housing part 100 of a quick-release mechanism 10. The slot of the mounting interface 300 may help define a clear attachment point for the housing part 100 which may reduce downtime and maintenance costs, contributing to the overall efficiency of the quick-release arrangement 50. The slot may further enhance the functionality and reliability of the quick-release arrangement 50 as the slot may contribute to enhanced stability and support of the connection of the housing part 100 to the mounting interface 300. This may be beneficial to the housing part 100 as it may better maintain its shape and structural integrity under load of a portable tool. This structural reinforcement may contribute to the durability of the mounting interface 300, making it more robust and capable of withstanding frequent use and potential impacts in demanding work environments. Additionally, the slot may act as a guide to help align and position the housing part 100 accurately during attachment, simplifying the assembly process and ensuring that components are correctly aligned for optimal functionality.

[0109] The at least two walls 310 provided on the main body 62 of the hip pad 60 may enhance the functionality and reliability of the quick-release arrangement 50. The at least two walls 310 may contribute to enhanced stability and support of the connection of the housing part 100 to the hip pad 60. This may be beneficial to the housing part 100 as it may better maintain its shape and structural integrity under load of a portable tool. This structural reinforcement may contribute to the durability of the mounting interface 300 and the hip pad 60, making them more robust and capable of withstanding frequent use and potential impacts in demanding work environments. The at least two walls 310 may also minimize the risk of accidental detachment of the housing part 100 by ensuring that the housing part 100 is securely mounted to the mounting interface 300. Additionally, the at least two walls 310 may act as guides to help align and position the housing part 100 accurately during attachment, simplifying the assembly process and ensuring that components are correctly aligned for optimal functionality.

[0110] The slot may alternatively comprise a depression in the principal surface of the main body 62 of the hip pad 60. The at least two walls 310 in such an embodiment may be formed as the inner walls of the depression of the slot. The possible benefits mentioned above hold for such an embodiment of the slot and / or the at least two walls 310.

[0111] The mounting interface 300 may further comprise at least one guiding track 360 for engaging with the guide portion 162 of the guiding arrangement 160. The at least one guiding track 360 may be arranged on a side of at least one of the at least two walls 310 facing the housing part 100. The guiding track 360 may extend in a direction at least partially perpendicular to the principal surface of the main body 62 of the hip pad 60.

[0112] The guiding track 360 may provide a pathway for the housing part 100 to follow during insertion into the mounting interface 300. The guiding track 360 may aid in guiding the housing part 100 toward a mounted position. The precise guiding may help ensure that the components are aligned correctly, reducing the risk of misalignment that could impair the operation of the quick-release arrangement 50.

[0113] Furthermore, the guiding track 360 may add to the stability to the connection between the housing part 100 and the mounting interface 300. As the housing part 100 is slidingly guided along the guiding track 360, it may remain securely in the correct position, which in turn may reduce any lateral movement or wobbling. Fig. 7 shows an embodiment of the hip pad 60 with a housing part 100 mounted to the mounting interface 300. The housing part 100 is arranged between the at least two walls 310 of the mounting interface 300.

[0114] The housing part 100 may be inserted to this mounted position relative to the mounting interface 300 by initial aligning of the guiding arrangement 160 of the housing part 100 with the guiding track 360 of the mounting interface 300. The guiding arrangement 160 may be configured to fit slidingly in the guiding track 360 such that the housing part 100 may be slidingly inserted between the at least two walls 310 of the mounting interface 300. Once the base 120 of the housing part 100 abuts the mounting interface base 320 of the mounting interface 300 the housing part 100 may be snap-fitted into a mounted position relative to the mounting interface 300. The snap-fit connection may be engaged by pushing the housing part 100 in a direction substantially parallel with the mounting interface base 320 of the mounting interface 300 such that the snap-fit arrangement 110 engages with the mating snap-fit arrangement 330 of the mounting interface 300. The notch 362 formed at an end of the guiding track 360 close to the mounting interface base 320 of the mounting interface 300 may enable the housing part 100 to move along the mounting interface base 320 such that the snap-fit connection may be formed between the housing part 100 and the mounting interface 300. The notch 362 may also form a bayonet coupling further securing the housing part 100 in a mounted position relative to the mounting interface 300.

[0115] According to the embodiment depicted the housing part 100 may be removed from the mounting interface 300 by, for example pushing on the snap-fit arrangement 100 and thereby, disengaging it from the mating snap-fit arrangement 330. The housing part 100 may then be moved in a direction substantially parallel with the mounting interface base 320 of the mounting interface 300 to disengage the bayonet coupling between the notch 362 and the guiding arrangement 160. The housing part 100 may then be moved away from the main body 62 of the hip pad 60 by sliding the guiding arrangement 160 along the guiding track 360.

[0116] It should be appreciated that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present disclosure have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the description is only illustrative and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size and arrangement of parts within the scope of the invention to the full extent indicated by the appended claims.
