[0002] Throughout this application, various publications are cited. Disclosures of the documents and publications referred to herein are hereby incorporated in their entireties by reference into this application.

[0003] Field of the Present Subject Matter

[0004] The present invention relates to compounds, methods and compositions for the enhancement of agricultural pesticide activity and particularly for the enhancement of agricultural fungicides, exemplified by flumetylsulforim.

[0005] The present invention particularly relates to the enhancement of flumetylsulforim when it is utilized concomitantly, contemporaneously or in conjunction with Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds collectively, or typically, structurally based on isoprene or 2-m ethyl- 1,3 -butadiene units or derived from them, of note are terpenes and terpenoid derivatives which are often (secondary) metabolites which originate from isoprene (2-methylbutadiene) units. [0009] Flumetylsulforim also known as 5-fluoro-4-imino-3-methyl-l-tosyl-3,4 dihydropyrimidin-2(lH)-one is an excellent potent fungicidal compound represented by the following structure,

[0011] There is generally a desire to enhance the activity of all pesticides so as to be able to inter alia, reduce expense and the amounts of agrochemicals introduced into the environment by getting greater effect from the application of less material, as well as a desire to broaden the scope of the pests that can be addressed. The task of pesticidal enhancement is more challenging when the pesticide is already a potent and broadly applicable pesticide. Flumetylsulforim is a potent and broadly useful fungicide, thus, enhancing the fungicidal activity of Flumetylsulforim and thus improving the treatment or prevention of plant disease caused by pathogen and to broaden the scope of susceptible plant pathogens to Flumetylsulforim is an on-going challenge. Summary of the Present Subject Mater

[0012] The present invention relates to compounds which have surprisingly been found to be flumetyl sulforim enhancing compounds which among other atributes, enhance the biological, pesticidal and / or fungicidal activity of flumetylsulforim.

[0013] The surprising extent, breadth, and amount of enhancement of flumetylsulforim obtained in our research by utilizing the novel Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds cannot be solely attributed to any known pesticidal activity of any of the herein disclosed Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds.

[0014] Whether or not there is an influence of the absorption, penetration, degradation, excretion, sensitivity or metabolism of flumetylsulforim in crop plants or pathogens by one or more of the flumetylsulforim enhancing compounds is not the subject of this invention which is entirely focused on the results achievable when flumetylsulforim is utilized to address plant pathogens or prevent or protect against the threat of plant pathogens in coordination with one or more of the Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds herein disclosed.

[0015] While many pesticidal compounds including Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds have proven to be useful in combination with flumetylsulforim, this particular invention is focused on the especially discovered novel enhancement of flumetylsulforim facilitated by the use of specific Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds selected from the groups of Phenylpropanoids; Monoterpenoids, Monoterpenes, and Flavonoids apart from any intrinsic pesticidal potency they may possess alone.

[0016] In some embodiments of the invention, though certainly not all, the surprising enhancements achieved by combining flumetylsulforim with Flumetylsulforim-Enhancing compounds selected from the groups of Phenylpropanoids; Monoterpenoids and Flavonoids are described in terms of the term “synergy”, and in specific embodiments the enhancements achieved are within the numerical definition of synergistic enhancement of fungicidal efficacy by any of a number of mathematical formulae useful in such evaluations.

Soybean leaves are then treated with a hand sprayer adjusted to deliver a volume equivalent to 1501 / ha of the products listed in the tables. For each experimental condition 4 replicates of trifoliate leaves were tested. In the evaluation prior to the third application, the first symptoms of the disease are detected in the experiment, but only in the control treatment, without application of fungicides. In the next evaluation, prior to the fourth application, the disease is already present in all treatments and with significantly higher severity in the control without controlling pesticide, with no difference between the fungicides being tested.
