Directional coupler

Abstract

The invention refers to a directional coupler (1) that comprises a first conductive element (2) that is connecting a first connection port (4) to a second connection port (5), and a second conductive (3) element that is connecting a third connection port (6) to a fourth connection port (7), wherein the second conductive element (3) is arranged in a common plane with the first conductive element (2); wherein the second conductive element (3) comprises a first end-portion (8) and a second end-portion (9), wherein the third connection port (6) is arranged in the first end-portion (8) and the fourth connection port (7) is arranged in the second end-portion (9), wherein the first end-portion (8) and the second end portion (9) are connected by a first connecting portion (10) and a second connecting portion (11), wherein first conductive element (2) is arranged in between the first connecting portion (10) and the second connecting portion (11); and wherein the second conductive element (3) is surrounding the entire first conductive element (2) in the common plane, thereby forming a gap (12) between the first conductive element (2) and the second conductive element (3), wherein the gap (12) is surrounding the entire first conductive element (2).
