However, in existing split-screen solutions, the split-screen entry point is not explicit, resulting in a high memory cost for users to remember the trigger operations for split-screen display and a poor user experience. [0005] In a first aspect, embodiments of this application provide a screen splitting method, comprising: displaying a screen splitting entry interface in response to a user operation; wherein the screen splitting entry interface includes a composition panel interface, the composition panel interface includes multiple target areas, at least one of the multiple target areas is used to trigger the addition of an application to be displayed in the screen splitting, and each of the multiple target areas corresponds to an application to be displayed in the screen splitting; in response to a user operation in the composition panel interface, displaying the interfaces of at least two applications in the screen splitting on the screen of a terminal device; wherein the relative positional relationship of the interfaces of the at least two applications displayed on the screen of the terminal device corresponds to the relative positional relationship between the multiple target areas.
