Description

Clips for writing instruments and writing instruments

[0001] This invention relates to a clip for a writing instrument and a writing instrument.

[0002] Conventionally, writing instruments equipped with clips are known. In particular, a clip is known that comprises a main wall having a longitudinal and a widthwise direction, a side wall extending toward the barrel from the widthwise end of the main wall, and a projection formed integrally with the main wall by folding the front end of the main wall backward and projecting toward the barrel.

[0003] JP7586985B discloses an example of such a clip. In the clip disclosed in JP7586985B, the clip's protruding portion (gripping portion) has a shape that can deform to generate elastic force and is formed to protrude toward the surface of the shaft beyond a pair of side walls. Furthermore, a clearance is maintained between the clip body and the surface of the shaft, preventing the side walls of the clip body from contacting the surface of the shaft. This has the advantage of preventing scratches on the surface of the shaft caused by contact between the side walls of the clip body and the surface of the shaft.

[0004] Figure 8 shows an example of such a clip. Figure 8 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view showing a part of the barrel 120 and the clip 150 cut by a plane passing through the central axis of the writing instrument. Note that the clip 150 shown in Figure 8 is a comparative form considered by the inventors of this invention and does not represent prior art. In the example shown in Figure 8, the clip 150 has a main wall 152, a side wall 154, and a projection 160. The main wall 152 has a longitudinal direction and a width direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The main wall 152 extends generally along the axial direction da. Therefore, the longitudinal direction of the main wall 152 generally coincides with the axial direction da. The side wall 154 extends from the widthwise end of the main wall 152 toward the barrel side. The projection 160 is formed by folding the tip 158 of the clip 150 (main wall 152) backward. The projection 160 protrudes toward the shaft cylinder 120. The projection 160 includes a top portion 164 and a rear portion 167. The top portion 164 is the part of the projection 160 closest to the shaft cylinder 120. The rear portion 167 extends linearly backward, continuous with the top portion 164. The main wall 152, the side wall 154, and the top portion 164 and rear portion 167 included in the projection 160 are all made of a single, integrated member. The clip 150 is made of an elastically deformable material.

[0005] In the example shown in Figure 8, the angle θ between the main wall 152 and the rear portion 167 is shown. 0 The projection is relatively small. In this case, when a force acts on the clip 150 (main wall 152) toward the shaft cylinder 120, the projection 160 elastically deforms and the end 168 of the clip 150 comes into contact with the main wall 152. If a further force acts on the clip 150 toward the shaft cylinder 120, the end 168 slides along the inner surface of the main wall 152 and moves backward (see white arrow in Figure 8). As a result, the height of the projection 160 decreases, and the side wall 154 of the clip 150 may come into contact with the shaft cylinder 120. In this case, there is a risk that the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 120 may be scratched due to contact with the side wall 154.

[0006] The present invention has been made in consideration of these points, and aims to prevent the side wall of a writing instrument clip from coming into contact with the barrel by elastic deformation of the protrusion, in a writing instrument clip having a protrusion formed integrally with the main wall by folding the front end of the main wall backward.

[0007] The present invention relates to a clip for a writing instrument, comprising: <Aspect 1> a main wall; a side wall extending toward one side in a direction intersecting the surface direction of the main wall; and a projection formed integrally with the main wall by folding the front end of the main wall backward and projecting toward the one side, wherein the projection includes a top portion located furthest from the main wall and a deformation-restricting portion disposed between the main wall and the top portion.

[0008] The present invention relates to, in <Aspect 2>, a writing instrument clip according to the present invention, wherein the top portion protrudes to one side from the side wall.

[0009] The present invention relates to a writing instrument clip according to Embodiment 1 or 2, wherein, when viewed from the side of the writing instrument clip, the deformation suppressing portion extends linearly and continuously from the top, and the angle between the deformation suppressing portion and the main wall is 70 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less.

[0010] The present invention relates to a writing instrument comprising a barrel and a writing instrument clip as described in any one of embodiments 1 to 3.

[0011] The present invention relates to the writing instrument described in Embodiment 4, wherein, in Embodiment 5, when viewed from the side of the clip for the writing instrument, the angle between the deformation suppression portion and the outer surface of the barrel is 65 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less.

[0012] The present invention relates to the writing instrument according to Embodiment 4 or 5, further comprising a connecting member for connecting the clip for the writing instrument and the barrel, wherein the barrel has a groove provided on the outer surface of the barrel and extending along the axial direction, and at least a part of the main body of the connecting member is housed in the groove.

[0013] The present invention relates to the writing instrument described in Embodiment 6, wherein the main body of the connecting member has a contact surface that contacts the top when an inward force acts on the clip for the writing instrument, and the contact surface is located outside the outer end of the groove.

[0014] The present invention relates to the writing instrument described in Embodiment 7, wherein in Embodiment 8, the contact surface protrudes outward from the outer peripheral surface of the main body of the connecting member.

[0015] According to the present invention, in a writing instrument clip having a projection formed integrally with the main wall by folding the front end of the main wall backward, the elastic deformation of the projection can prevent the side wall of the clip from contacting the barrel.

[0016] Figure 1 is a diagram illustrating one embodiment of the present invention, and is an external view showing an example of a writing instrument. Figure 2 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the writing instrument of Figure 1. Figure 3 is an enlarged view of the portion labeled III in Figure 2. Figure 4 is a transverse cross-sectional view of the writing instrument corresponding to the line IV-IV in Figure 1. Figure 5 is an enlarged view of the portion labeled V in Figure 4. Figure 6 is a diagram corresponding to Figure 5, and shows the clip when a force is applied toward the barrel. Figure 7 shows a method for attaching the clip to the barrel. Figure 8 shows a comparative form of the clip.

[0017] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that, for the sake of illustration and ease of understanding, the scale and aspect ratios of the drawings accompanying this specification have been appropriately altered and exaggerated from those of the actual objects.

[0018] In this specification, terms such as "parallel," "orthogonal," and "identical," as well as values for length and angle, which specify shapes, geometric conditions, and their degrees, shall not be strictly interpreted, but shall be interpreted to include a range that can be expected to perform similar functions.

[0019] In this specification, the direction in which the central axis A of the writing instrument 10 extends (longitudinal direction, vertical direction in a vertical cross-sectional view) is defined as the axial direction da, the direction perpendicular to the axial direction da is defined as the radial direction dr, and the direction along the circumference around the central axis A is defined as the circumferential direction. Furthermore, along the axial direction da, the pen tip side is defined as the front, and the side opposite the pen tip is defined as the rear. Furthermore, along the radial direction dr, the side approaching the central axis A is defined as the inside, and the side moving away from the central axis A is defined as the outside.

[0020] Figure 1 is a diagram illustrating one embodiment of the present invention, and is an external view showing an example of a writing instrument 10. Figure 2 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view showing the writing instrument of Figure 1. In this embodiment, an example is described in which the writing instrument 10 is a selective retractable ballpoint pen in which any cursive writing style can be selected from a plurality of cursive writing styles to be extended and retracted, but the writing instrument 10 is not limited to this. The writing instrument 10 may be a ballpoint pen in which a single cursive writing style can be extended and retracted, or it may be a non-retractable ballpoint pen in which the cursive writing style is fixed to the barrel 20. Furthermore, the writing instrument 10 may be other writing instruments such as a mechanical pencil, a fountain pen, a felt-tip pen, a marker pen, or a stylus pen (touch pen).

[0021] The writing instrument 10 comprises a barrel 20, a retractable mechanism 30, a connecting member 40, and a clip (writing instrument clip) 50. In this embodiment, the barrel 20 includes a front barrel 21, a rear barrel 22, a grip member 26, a rear end member 27, and a friction member 29. The central axis of the barrel 20 coincides with the central axis A of the writing instrument 10. The barrel 20 houses a part of the retractable mechanism 30. The front end of the barrel 20 is provided with a front end opening 20a through which the pen tip 36 of the refill 34 can pass.

[0022] The front shaft 21 is a component having a roughly cylindrical shape and is intended to be grasped by the user's fingers when writing with the writing instrument 10. The front end of the front shaft 21 has a roughly conical shape, with the diameter decreasing towards the front. A front end opening 20a is formed at the tip of this conical shape. The rear end of the front shaft 21 is attached to the rear shaft 22. For example, the front shaft 21 may be attached to the rear shaft 22 by screwing a male threaded portion formed on the outer circumferential surface of the rear end of the front shaft 21 into a female threaded portion formed on the inner circumferential surface of the front end of the rear shaft 22.

[0023] The rear shaft 22 is a member having a substantially cylindrical shape. The rear shaft 22 includes a groove 23 and a slit 25. The groove 23 is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the rear shaft 22. The groove 23 extends linearly along the axial direction da from the rear end of the rear shaft 22 toward the front. The groove 23 accommodates at least a part of the main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40, which will be described later. The slit 25 is formed by penetrating the wall portion of the rear shaft 22. The slit 25 extends linearly along the axial direction da. The slit 25 accommodates at least a part of the operating portion 33 of the slide member 32 of the retractable mechanism 30. When the slide member 32 moves along the axial direction da, at least a part of the operating portion 33 moves along the axial direction da within the slit 25.

[0024] The grip member 26 is positioned to surround the outer surface of the front shaft 21. The grip member 26 is intended to be held by the user's fingers when writing with the writing instrument 10. The grip member 26 is made of, for example, rubber, elastomer, or the like.

[0025] The rear end member 27 is attached to the rear end of the rear shaft 22. For example, the rear end member 27 may be attached to the rear shaft 22 by screwing a male threaded portion formed on the outer circumferential surface of the rear end of the rear shaft 22 into a female threaded portion formed on the inner circumferential surface of the front end of the rear end member 27. In this embodiment, the rear end member 27 closes the rear end of the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22.

[0026] The friction member 29 is a member for rubbing the ink-based writing marks. The friction member 29 may be attached to the rear end member 27. If the ink of the writing instrument 10 is a thermochromic ink, the friction member 29 may be a friction member that has the function of rubbing the writing surface, such as paper, on which the writing marks are formed, and heating the ink forming the writing marks with frictional heat. In this case, the friction member 29 may be made of, for example, an elastic material. If the ink is not thermochromic, the friction member 29 may be, for example, a member that scrapes off the writing marks by rubbing the writing surface, such as paper, on which the writing marks are formed, such as a sand eraser. If the writing instrument 10 is a mechanical pencil, the friction member 29 may be an eraser.

[0027] The retractable mechanism 30 includes a plurality of slide members 32 and a plurality of refills 34. In particular, in this embodiment, the retractable mechanism 30 includes three slide members 32 and three refills 34. Each refill 34 is attached to a corresponding slide member 32. The slide member 32 has an operating section 33. A portion of the operating section 33 is configured to move along the axial direction da within a slit 25 of the rear shaft 22.

[0028] The refill 34 may include an ink reservoir for containing ink and a tip member positioned in front of the ink reservoir. The refill 34 has a pen tip 36. The pen tip 36 is the part that forms a line on a writing surface such as paper. The pen tip 36 may be composed of a part of the tip member. Any ink usable in a ballpoint pen can be used as the ink without particular limitations. For example, the ink may be oil-based ink, water-based ink, gel ink, thermochromic ink, etc. The thermochromic ink may be a reversible thermochromic ink. As an example of a reversible thermochromic ink, a heat-decolorizing type reversible thermochromic ink can be used, which changes from a colored state to a decolorized state when heated and changes from a decolorized state to a colored state when cooled. Multiple refills 34 may contain inks of different colors from each other. The operating portion 33 of the slide member 32 may have the same or a similar color as the ink contained in the refill 34 attached to the slide member 32.

[0029] In the retractable mechanism 30 of this embodiment, when the user presses the operating part 33 of the slide member (first slide member) 32 forward, the pen tip 36 of the refill 34 attached to the slide member 32 protrudes forward from the front end opening 20a. When the user presses the operating part 33 of the other slide member (second slide member) 32 forward, the first slide member 32 and the refill 34 attached to the first slide member 32 retract, and instead, the pen tip 36 of the refill 34 attached to the second slide member 32 protrudes forward from the front end opening 20a. Since the retractable mechanism 30 that achieves such operation is well known, a detailed explanation will be omitted.

[0030] Next, the connecting member 40 and the clip 50 of this embodiment will be described. Figure 3 is an enlarged view of the portion labeled III in Figure 2. Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of the writing instrument 10 corresponding to the line IV-IV in Figure 1, showing a cross-section passing through the top 64 of the protruding portion 60 of the clip 50. Figure 5 is an enlarged view of the portion labeled V in Figure 4. Figure 6 is a diagram corresponding to Figure 5, showing the clip 50 when a force is applied toward the barrel 20.

[0031] The connecting member 40 is a member used to connect the clip 50 to the shaft cylinder 20. The connecting member 40 includes a main body portion 42 and a mounting portion 46. The main body portion 42 extends linearly along the axial direction da. At least a portion of the main body portion 42 is housed in the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22. In this embodiment, the main body portion 42 is positioned in the groove 23 by being inserted into the groove 23 from the rear (see Figure 7). When the main body portion 42 is positioned in the groove 23, the tip portion 48 of the main body portion 42 is located inside the rear shaft 22. The mounting portion 46 is the portion to which the clip 50 is attached. In particular, the rear end of the clip 50 is attached to the mounting portion 46.

[0032] In this embodiment, the clip 50 is attached to the barrel 20 (rear shaft 22) via a connecting member 40. The connecting member 40 may be omitted. In other words, the clip 50 may be attached to the barrel 20 without the connecting member 40. In this embodiment, the clip 50 is fixed to the barrel 20. That is, in the assembled writing instrument 10, the clip 50 does not move relative to the barrel 20 (for example, along the axial direction da). However, it is not limited to this, and in the assembled writing instrument 10, the clip 50 may be configured to move relative to the barrel 20 (for example, along the axial direction da).

[0033] The clip 50 includes a main wall 52, a side wall 54, and a projection 60. The main wall 52 has a longitudinal direction and a width direction. The main wall 52 extends generally along the axial direction da. Therefore, the longitudinal direction of the main wall 52 generally coincides with the axial direction da. The width direction is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and the radial direction dr of the writing instrument 10.

[0034] The side wall 54 extends toward one side in a direction intersecting the planar direction of the main wall 52. In particular, the side wall 54 extends toward one side in a direction perpendicular to the planar direction of the main wall 52. When the clip 50 is attached to the shaft cylinder 20, the side wall 54 extends toward the shaft cylinder 20 from the main wall 52. That is, when the clip 50 is attached to the shaft cylinder 20, one side of the main wall 52 and the shaft cylinder 20 side of the main wall 52 coincide. In particular, the side wall 54 extends toward the shaft cylinder 20 from the end of the main wall 52 in the width direction. Note that the "planar direction" of the main wall 52 is the direction in which the main wall 52 extends, and includes the longitudinal and width directions of the main wall 52. The side wall 54 has a bulge 56. The bulge 56 is a portion that bulges toward one side (towards the shaft cylinder 20). The bulging portion 56 has a top portion 57 located on the one side (towards the shaft cylinder 20).

[0035] The protruding portion 60 is formed integrally with the main wall 52 by folding the front end of the main wall 52 backward, and protrudes toward one side (towards the shaft cylinder 20). The folded portion of the main wall 52 constitutes the tip portion 58 of the clip 50. The protruding portion 60 includes a forward-sloping portion 62, a top portion 64, and a deformation-restricting portion 66.

[0036] The top portion 64 is the part of the projection 60 that is furthest from the main wall 52. In other words, the top portion 64 is the part of the projection 60 that is closest to the shaft cylinder 20. As shown in Figure 3, the top portion 64 protrudes to one side (towards the shaft cylinder 20) of the side wall 54. In particular, the top portion 64 protrudes to one side (towards the shaft cylinder 20) of the top portion 57 of the side wall 54. The forward inclined portion 62 is the part located between the tip portion 58 and the top portion 64. The forward inclined portion 62 extends in a direction inclined with respect to the axial direction da and radial direction dr so that it moves away from the main wall 52 as it moves towards the rear, in other words, it moves closer to the shaft cylinder 20 as it moves towards the rear. When viewed from the side of the clip 50, the forward inclined portion 62 may have a linear shape. Note that viewing the clip 50 from the side means viewing it from the width direction of the main wall 52.

[0037] The main wall 52, side wall 54, and protrusion 60 are formed as a single, integrated component. The clip 50 is made of an elastically deformable material. For example, metal materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel can be used to make up the clip 50. When a force is applied to the clip 50 (main wall 52) toward the shaft cylinder 20, the protrusion 60 can be elastically deformed. As a result, the height of the protrusion 60 in the radial direction dr decreases, and the side wall 54 (bulge 56) of the clip 50 may come into contact with the shaft cylinder 20. In this case, there is a risk that scratches may occur on the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 due to contact with the side wall 54 (bulge 56).

[0038] In order to suppress the elastic deformation of such a protrusion 60, the protrusion 60 of the present embodiment has a deformation suppression portion 66. The deformation suppression portion 66 is disposed between the main wall 52 and the top portion 64 and has a function of suppressing the elastic deformation of the protrusion 60. In the example shown in FIG. 3, when viewed from the side of the clip 50, the deformation suppression portion 66 extends linearly continuously to the top portion 64. Further, the deformation suppression portion 66 is formed by a portion of the member forming the clip 50 that extends to the side opposite to the tip portion 58 with respect to the top portion 64. In a state where no external force acts on the clip 50, the end portion 68 of the deformation suppression portion 66 may contact the main wall 52, or a gap may be formed between the end portion 68 and the main wall 52 (see FIG. 5).

[0039] The angle θ between the deformation suppression portion 66 and the main wall 52 1 may be 70 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less. The angle θ 1 is the smaller one of the two angles formed between the deformation suppression portion 66 and the main wall 52. Note that the angle θ 1 is measured in a state where no external force acts on the clip 50

[0040] When a gap is formed between the end portion 68 of the deformation suppression portion 66 and the main wall 52 (see FIG. 5), when a force acting toward the shaft cylinder 20 acts on the clip 50 (main wall 52), the protrusion 60 elastically deforms and the end portion 68 approaches the main wall 52, and then the end portion 68 contacts the main wall 52 (see FIG. 6).

[0041] The angle θ between the deformation suppression portion 66 and the main wall 52 1 is 70 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less, even when a force acting toward the shaft cylinder 20 acts on the clip 50 (main wall 52) in a state where the end portion 68 contacts the main wall 52, it becomes difficult for the end portion 68 to slide on the inner surface of the main wall 52 and move along the axial direction da. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 6, it is possible to suppress a decrease in the height in the radial direction dr of the protrusion 60. As a result, the possibility that the side wall 54 (bulging portion 56) of the clip 50 contacts the shaft cylinder 20 is reduced. That is, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of scratches on the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 due to contact with the side wall 54 (bulging portion 56).

[0042] When viewed from the side of the clip 50, the angle θ between the deformation suppression portion 66 and the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 (rear shaft 22) 2 may be 65 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less. In this case, when a force acting on the clip 50 (main wall 52) toward the shaft cylinder 20 is applied, the end portion 68 of the deformation suppression portion 66 can be further suppressed from sliding on the inner surface of the main wall 52 and moving along the axial direction da. The angle θ 2 is the smaller one of the two angles formed between the deformation suppression portion 66 and the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20. Note that the angle θ 2 is measured in a state where no external force acts on the clip 50.

[0043] FIG. 7 is a diagram showing a method of attaching the clip 50 to the shaft cylinder 20. In the present embodiment, the clip 50 is attached via the connecting member 40. First, the clip 50 is attached to the connecting member 40. In particular, the rear end portion of the clip 50 is attached to the attachment portion 46 of the connecting member 40. In this state, as shown in FIG. 7, the main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40 is inserted into the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22 from the rear. At this time, if the main body portion 42 is inserted into the groove 23 while the top portion 64 of the protruding portion 60 of the clip 50 remains in contact with the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 (rear shaft 22), the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 may be damaged. Also, when the clip 50 is attached to the shaft cylinder 20, if the front end portion of the clip 50 is displaced in the width direction of the clip 50 (width direction of the main wall 52) due to an external force, the protruding portion 60 may catch on the outer end portion 24 of the groove 23, and the clip 50 may not return to its original position.

[0044] The main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40 has an outer peripheral surface 44 that is exposed from the groove 23 when the main body portion 42 is inserted into the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22. In the present embodiment, the main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40 has a contact surface 45 that contacts the top portion 64 of the protruding portion 60 when a force acting inward acts on the clip 50. The contact surface 45 may also contact the top portion 64 even when no force acting inward acts on the clip 50.

[0045] The contact surface 45 may be located radially dr outward from the outer end 24 of the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22. In this case, when inserting the main body 42 of the connecting member 40 into the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22, a gap is created between the top 64 of the projection 60 of the clip 50 and the outer surface (outer end 24) of the shaft cylinder 20 (rear shaft 22), and the top 64 does not come into contact with the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20. Therefore, when inserting the main body 42 into the groove 23, it is possible to prevent scratches from occurring on the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 due to contact with the top 64. In addition, if the front end of the clip 50 is displaced in the width direction of the clip 50 due to an external force, it is possible to prevent the projection 60 from getting caught on the outer end 24 of the groove 23. The contact surface 45 may protrude radially dr outward from the outer peripheral surface 44 of the main body 42 of the connecting member 40.

[0046] The writing instrument clip 50 of this embodiment comprises a main wall 52, a side wall 54 extending toward one side in a direction intersecting the surface direction of the main wall 52, and a projection 60 formed integrally with the main wall 52 by folding the front end of the main wall 52 backward and projecting toward one side. The projection 60 includes a top portion 64 located furthest from the main wall 52 and a deformation suppression portion 66 positioned between the main wall 52 and the top portion 64.

[0047] In the writing instrument clip 50 of this embodiment, the top portion 64 protrudes to one side from the side wall 54.

[0048] The writing instrument 10 of this embodiment comprises a barrel 20 and the writing instrument clip 50 described above.

[0049] With such a writing instrument clip 50 and writing instrument 10, the writing instrument clip 50 has a deformation suppression portion 66, which suppresses the deformation of the protrusion 60 when a force is applied to the writing instrument clip 50 (main wall 52) toward one side (towards the barrel 20). Therefore, the reduction in the radial height dr of the protrusion 60 is suppressed. As a result, the risk of the side wall 54 (bulging portion 56) of the clip 50 coming into contact with the barrel 20 is reduced. In other words, it is possible to suppress scratches on the outer surface of the barrel 20 caused by contact with the side wall 54 (bulging portion 56).

[0050] In the pen clip 50 of the present embodiment, when viewed from the side of the pen clip 50, the deformation suppressing portion 66 extends linearly continuously to the top portion 64, and the angle θ between the deformation suppressing portion 66 and the main wall 52 1 is 70 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less.

[0051] According to such a pen clip 50, since the angle θ 1 is 70 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less, even if a force acting toward the shaft cylinder 20 is applied to the clip 50 (main wall 52) with the end portion 68 in contact with the main wall 52, the end portion 68 slides on the inner surface of the main wall 52 and it becomes difficult to move along the axial direction da. Therefore, further suppression is achieved in reducing the height in the radial direction dr of the protruding portion 60.

[0052] In the pen clip 50 of the present embodiment, when viewed from the side of the pen clip 50, the angle θ between the deformation suppressing portion 66 and the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 2 is 65 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less.

[0053] According to such a pen clip 50, since the angle θ 2 is 65 degrees or more and 90 degrees or less, when a force acting toward the shaft cylinder 20 is applied to the clip 50 (main wall 52), it is possible to further suppress the end portion 68 of the deformation suppressing portion 66 from sliding on the inner surface of the main wall 52 and moving along the axial direction da.

[0054] The pen clip 50 of the present embodiment further includes a connecting member 40 that connects the pen clip 50 and the shaft cylinder 20. The shaft cylinder 20 has a groove 23 provided on the outer surface of the shaft cylinder 20 and extending along the axial direction da, and at least a part of the main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40 is accommodated in the groove 23.

[0055] In the pen clip 50 of the present embodiment, the main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40 has a contact surface 45 that contacts the top portion 64 when a force acting inward is applied to the pen clip 50, and the contact surface 45 is located outside the outer end portion of the groove 23.

[0056] In the pen clip 50 of the present embodiment, the contact surface 45 protrudes outward from the outer peripheral surface 44 of the main body portion 42 of the connecting member 40.

[0057] With this type of writing instrument clip 50, when inserting the main body 42 of the connecting member 40 into the groove 23 of the rear shaft 22, a gap is created between the top 64 of the protruding part 60 of the clip 50 and the outer surface (outer end 24) of the barrel 20 (rear shaft 22), so that the top 64 does not come into contact with the outer surface of the barrel 20. Therefore, when inserting the main body 42 into the groove 23, it is possible to prevent scratches from occurring on the outer surface of the barrel 20 due to contact with the top 64.
