Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to connectors. Background Technology
[0002] Conventionally, connectors known as connectors include those in which multiple sets of terminal wires are arranged side-by-side in a housing in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the axial direction of each wire, and are fitted and connected to a mating pair in a direction orthogonal to both the axial direction and the orthogonal direction. The terminal fittings used in such connectors include: a terminal connection portion that is physically and electrically connected to the mating pair; and a wire connection portion that is physically and electrically connected to the end of a wire, and the extension direction of the terminal connection portion along the fitting connection direction to the mating pair is orthogonal to the lead-out direction of the wire extending from the wire connection portion. For example, such connectors are disclosed in Patent Documents 1 and 2 below. Furthermore, the connector in Patent Document 1 achieves miniaturization of the terminal fitting's size in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction) by having the terminal connection portion protrude from the position of the wire connection portion in the fitting connection direction with the mating pair. Furthermore, the connector in Patent Document 2 achieves miniaturization of the terminal fitting's size in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction) by connecting the terminal connection portion and the wire connection portion with an elastic member made of braided wire. The connectors in Patent Documents 1 and 2 aim to reduce the overall size of the wire in the direction of wire lead-out (axial direction) by using such terminal accessories.

[0007] The problem that the invention aims to solve
[0008] However, in connectors, multiple sets of terminald wires are arranged in an orthogonal direction within the housing chamber. Sometimes, in this arrangement, the terminal fittings of adjacent terminald wires are offset relative to each other in the axial direction of the wires, thereby staggering the terminal connections relative to each other in the axial direction of the wires. In such connectors, the wire connections are also staggered in the axial direction of the wires within the housing chamber, along with the terminal connections. Therefore, to ensure the connection area between the wire connection and the wire, compared to the case where adjacent terminal fittings are not offset, the volume of the housing chamber needs to be increased in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction). Therefore, as the size of the housing increases, the overall size of the connector may also increase in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction).
[0009] Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a connector capable of suppressing the enlargement of its size.
[0010] Methods for solving problems
[0011] The invention is characterized by comprising: a terminal fitting having: a wire connection portion extending a wire in an axial direction, the wire connection portion being physically and electrically connected to the core wire at the end of the wire; a terminal connection portion protruding in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the axial direction and inserted into a mating part for physical and electrical connection to an electrically connected object of the mating part; and a connecting portion connecting the wire connection portion and the terminal connection portion; and a housing accommodating a terminal wire consisting of a set of terminal fittings and the wire in an internal accommodating chamber in such a way that: a plurality of terminal wires are arranged in an arrangement direction orthogonal to the axial direction and the orthogonal direction, and while the protruding direction of each terminal connection portion of the plurality of terminal wires faces the same direction, the leading direction of the wires of the plurality of terminal wires extending from each wire connection portion faces the same direction, and the terminal fitting includes a first terminal fitting and a second terminal fitting, the first terminal fitting having as the terminal fitting... The device comprises a first wire connection portion of a wire connection portion, a first terminal connection portion as a terminal connection portion, and a first connecting portion as a connecting portion. The second terminal fitting comprises a second wire connection portion as a wire connection portion, a second terminal connection portion as a terminal connection portion, and a second connecting portion as a connecting portion. The first terminal fitting causes the first connecting portion to protrude from the first wire connection portion toward a side opposite to the lead-out direction, and also causes the first terminal connection portion to protrude from the first connecting portion toward the protruding direction. The second terminal fitting causes the second connecting portion to protrude from the second wire connection portion toward the lead-out direction, and also causes the second terminal connection portion to protrude from the second connecting portion toward the protruding direction. When viewed in its protruding direction, the second terminal connection portion is positioned to overlap with the sheath of the wire led out from the second wire connection portion. In the receiving chamber, the first terminal fitting and the second terminal fitting are arranged in the arrangement direction with the second terminal connection portion offset relative to the first terminal connection portion toward the lead-out direction.
[0012] Invention Effects
[0013] In the connector according to the present invention, the arrangement of the second wire connection portion and the second terminal connection portion of the second terminal accessory is interchanged relative to the arrangement of the first wire connection portion and the first terminal connection portion of the first terminal accessory, and the second terminal connection portion is offset relative to the first terminal connection portion in the wire lead-out direction. That is, in the connector according to the present invention, the second wire connection portion of the second terminal accessory can be arranged next to the first terminal connection portion of the first terminal accessory in the housing chamber, and the second terminal connection portion of the second terminal accessory can be arranged next to the first wire connection portion of the first terminal accessory. Therefore, the connector according to the present invention does not need to expand the volume of the housing chamber along the wire lead-out direction (axial direction) just to ensure the connection area between the second wire connection portion of the second terminal accessory and the wire, and can suppress the enlargement of the housing size in the lead-out direction. Therefore, the connector according to the present invention can suppress the overall enlargement of the size in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction). Attached Figure Description

[0022] Figure 9 yes Figure 3 XX-line sectional view. Detailed Implementation
[0023] The connector involved in this invention has terminal fittings and a housing, and is connected to the end of a wire.
[0024] The terminal fitting includes: a wire connection portion for leading a wire out along the axial direction of the wire, the wire connection portion being physically and electrically connected to the core wire at the end of the wire; a terminal connection portion, which is a portion protruding in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the axial direction, and is inserted into a mating part to be physically and electrically connected to the mating part; and a connecting portion for connecting the wire connection portion and the terminal connection portion. Furthermore, the housing accommodates a terminald wire, consisting of a set of terminal fittings and wires, in an internal receiving chamber in such a manner that multiple terminald wires are arranged in an arrangement direction orthogonal to both the axial direction and the orthogonal direction, and the protruding directions of the terminal connections of each of the multiple terminald wires face the same direction, and the leading directions of the wires from each wire connection of the multiple terminald wires face the same direction.
[0025] In this connector, at least two wires with terminals are housed within a housing chamber. Therefore, this connector includes, as terminal fittings: a first terminal fitting having a first wire connection portion as a wire connection portion, a first terminal connection portion as a terminal connection portion, and a first connecting portion as a connecting portion; and a second terminal fitting having a second wire connection portion as a wire connection portion, a second terminal connection portion as a terminal connection portion, and a second connecting portion as a connecting portion. The first terminal fitting is shaped such that the first connecting portion protrudes from the first wire connection portion toward a side opposite to the wire lead-out direction, and the first terminal connection portion protrudes from the first connecting portion toward the protruding direction. Furthermore, the second terminal fitting is shaped such that the second connecting portion protrudes from the second wire connection portion toward the wire lead-out direction, and the second terminal connection portion protrudes from the second connecting portion toward the protruding direction. And, when viewed in this protruding direction, the second terminal connection portion is positioned to overlap with the sheath of the wire leading from the second wire connection portion. Within the housing, with the second terminal connection offset relative to the first terminal connection in the direction of wire lead-out, the first terminal accessory and the second terminal accessory are arranged along the arrangement direction.
[0026] In existing connectors, since multiple first terminal fittings are housed within the housing, when one of two adjacent first terminal fittings in the arrangement direction is offset relative to the other in the wire lead-out direction, the volume of the housing's housing needs to be increased in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction) to ensure the connection area between the first wire connection portion of one first terminal fitting and the wire. Therefore, in this existing connector, as the housing becomes larger, the overall size also increases in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction).
[0027] In contrast, in the connector according to the present invention, the arrangement of the second wire connection portion and the second terminal connection portion of the second terminal accessory is interchanged with respect to the arrangement of the first wire connection portion and the first terminal connection portion of the first terminal accessory, and the second terminal connection portion is offset relative to the first terminal connection portion in the wire lead-out direction. Therefore, in the connector according to the present invention, only to ensure the connection area between the second wire connection portion of the second terminal accessory and the wire, the volume of the housing chamber can be prevented from expanding along the wire lead-out direction (axial direction), and the enlargement of the housing size in this lead-out direction can be suppressed. Therefore, the connector according to the present invention can suppress the overall enlargement of the size in the wire lead-out direction (axial direction).
[0028] However, in the connector according to the present invention, it is preferable that the terminal fitting is formed such that the axis of the wire leading out from the wire connection portion and the central axis of the terminal connection portion facing the protruding direction are arranged in the same plane. Therefore, in this connector, multiple terminald wires can be arranged with reduced gaps between them in the arrangement direction, and consequently, the enlargement of the housing in this arrangement direction can be suppressed. Thus, by using such terminal fittings (first terminal fitting, second terminal fitting), the connector according to the present invention can also suppress the overall enlargement of its size in the arrangement direction.
[0029] Furthermore, in the connector according to the present invention, it is preferable to provide a partition wall separating the first terminal accessory and the second terminal accessory within the housing's receiving chamber. This prevents contact between adjacent first and second terminal accessories in the connector. Moreover, in the connector according to the present invention, when the second connecting portion is arranged opposite to the wire in the arrangement direction, this second connecting portion is preferably arranged opposite to the sheath of the wire extending from the second wire connection portion on the side opposite to the first terminal accessory side. This prevents the second connecting portion from interfering with the partition wall, allowing the second terminal accessory to be arranged close to the first terminal accessory in the arrangement direction. Therefore, by using such a second terminal accessory, the connector according to the present invention can also suppress the overall increase in size in its arrangement direction.
[0030] Hereinafter, specific embodiments of the connector according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments.
[0031] [Implementation Method]
[0032] based on Figures 1 to 9 This describes one embodiment of the connector involved in the present invention.
[0033] Figures 1 to 4 Reference numeral 1 in the accompanying drawings shows the connector of this embodiment. The connector 1 is assembled to the end of the wire We, and together with the wire We, forms a wire harness WH. This wire harness WH is disposed among multiple electrical devices (not shown) mounted on a vehicle, and the wire We is electrically connected to the electrical devices via the connector 1, thereby electrically connecting the multiple electrical devices via the wire We. Here, in order to ensure the shielding function of the electrical devices, the wire harness WH also has a shielding function similar to that of the electrical devices. Therefore, in this wire harness WH, a shielding material SH (such as a tubular braid) is used. Figure 1 The portion between multiple connectors 1 in the externally covered wire We is configured as a so-called shielded connector.
[0034] Connector 1 includes terminal fittings 10 and an insulating housing 20 for accommodating wires We and terminal fittings 10. Figure 1 , Figure 3 and Figure 4 Furthermore, connector 1 includes a conductive shield 30 for noise reduction. Figure 1 ).
[0035] The terminal fitting 10 is formed from a conductive material such as metal. For example, the terminal fitting 10 is formed into a specified shape by stamping through bending, cutting, or other processes on a metal sheet that serves as the base material.
[0036] The terminal accessory 10 is physically and electrically connected to the core wire We1 at the end of the wire We to form a wire Wt with a terminal. Figures 4 to 8 Furthermore, the terminal accessory 10 is electrically connected to the main body of the electrical equipment within its metal frame (illustration omitted).
[0037] The terminal fitting 10 has a wire connection portion 11, which allows the wire We to be led out in the axial direction of the wire We. Figures 4 to 8 The core wire We1 at the end of the wire We is physically and electrically connected to the wire connector 11. The wire connector 11 is physically and electrically connected to the exposed core wire We1 at the end of the wire We, for example, by crimping or welding it. The wire connector 11 shown here securely crimps two cylindrical plates onto the core wire We1 placed at the bottom of the wire connector 11.
[0038] Additionally, the terminal accessory 10 has a terminal connection portion 12, which is a portion protruding in an orthogonal direction to the axial direction of the wire We, and is inserted into a mating object and physically and electrically connected to the electrical connection object of the mating object. Figure 1 , Figure 3 , Figure 4 as well as Figures 6 to 8 For example, the terminal connection 12 is inserted into the frame of the electrical equipment through a through hole (not shown), and is physically and electrically connected to the mating terminal accessory (not shown) of the electrical equipment. Thus, the terminal connection 12 is indirectly electrically connected to the main body of the equipment via the mating terminal accessory.
[0039] The terminal connection portion 12 shown here uses its protruding direction as the mating connection direction relative to the mating terminal connection portion of the mating terminal fitting. By mating with the mating terminal connection portion along this mating connection direction, it achieves both physical and electrical connection with the mating terminal connection portion. One of the terminal connection portion 12 and the mating terminal connection portion is formed as a female terminal, and the other as a male terminal. In this example, the terminal connection portion 12 is formed as a cylindrical female terminal, and the mating terminal connection portion is formed as a shaft-shaped male terminal that is embedded inside the terminal connection portion 12. A contact member (not shown) that elastically deforms upon insertion of the mating terminal connection portion is assembled inside the terminal connection portion 12. Here, the mating terminal connection portion is inserted into the terminal connection portion 12, and the connection direction relative to the mating terminal connection portion as seen from the terminal connection portion 12 is defined as the mating connection direction.
[0040] Additionally, the terminal accessory 10 has a connecting portion 13 that connects the wire connection portion 11 and the terminal connection portion 12. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8).
[0041] The housing 20 houses a terminal wire Wt, which is composed of the set of terminal fittings 10 and wires We, in an internal receiving chamber (hereinafter referred to as the "terminal receiving chamber") 20a, in such a manner that multiple terminal wires Wt, which are composed of the set of terminal fittings 10 and wires We, are arranged in an arrangement direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the wires We and the protruding direction of the terminal connection portion 12, and the protruding directions of the terminal connection portions 12 of the multiple terminal wires Wt are oriented in the same direction, and the lead-out directions of the wires We of the multiple terminal wires Wt from the respective wire connection portions 11 are oriented in the same direction. Figures 4 to 6 ).
[0042] In the connector 1 of this embodiment, as a terminal accessory 10 housed in the terminal receiving chamber 20a, at least a first terminal accessory 10A is provided. The first terminal accessory 10A has a first wire connection portion 11A as a wire connection portion 11, a first terminal connection portion 12A as a terminal connection portion 12, and a first connecting portion 13A as a connecting portion 13. A second terminal accessory 10B is also provided, having a second wire connection portion 11B as a wire connection portion 11, a second terminal connection portion 12B as a terminal connection portion 12, and a second connecting portion 13B as a connecting portion 13. Figure 4 , Figure 7 as well as Figure 8 ).
[0043] In the first terminal accessory 10A, when viewed from the first wire connection portion 11A, the first terminal connection portion 12A is positioned on the side opposite to the lead-out direction of the wire We compared to the first wire connection portion 11A. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8 Therefore, the first terminal fitting 10A is formed in such a shape that the first connecting portion 13A protrudes from the first wire connecting portion 11A toward the side opposite to the lead-out direction of the wire We, and the first terminal connecting portion 12A protrudes from the first connecting portion 13A toward the mating connection direction.
[0044] Furthermore, the first terminal fitting 10A is formed such that the axis of the wire We extending from the first wire connection portion 11A and the central axis of the first terminal connection portion 12A facing the protruding direction are arranged on the same plane P1. Figure 4 ).
[0045] In the first terminal fitting 10A shown here, a first connecting portion 13A is arranged on a plane substantially the same as the bottom of the first wire connection portion 11A, and the first terminal connection portion 12A is connected to the first connecting portion 13A in such a way that a central axis is arranged on a plane P1 that is the same as the axis of the wire We led out from the first wire connection portion 11A. The first connecting portion 13A shown here is formed in an L-shape connecting two pieces, with one piece protruding from the bottom of the first wire connection portion 11A toward a side opposite to the lead-out direction of the wire We, and the other piece protruding from its protruding end toward the fitting connection direction. The main body of the first connecting portion 13A is formed in a flat plate shape, but it is connected to the first wire connection portion 11A side and the first terminal connection portion 12A side by arc-shaped ends that match the shapes of the first wire connection portion 11A and the first terminal connection portion 12A, respectively. The first terminal connection portion 12A protrudes from the protruding end of the other piece of the first connecting portion 13A toward the fitting connection direction.
[0046] In the second terminal accessory 10B, when viewed from the second wire connection portion 11B, the second terminal connection portion 12B is positioned at a position closer to the lead-out direction of the wire We than the second wire connection portion 11B. Figure 4 and Figure 8 Therefore, the second terminal fitting 10B is formed in such a shape that the second connecting portion 13B protrudes from the second wire connecting portion 11B toward the direction of wire We, and the second terminal connecting portion 12B protrudes from the second connecting portion 13B toward the mating connection direction. Furthermore, when viewed from this protruding direction, the second terminal connecting portion 12B is positioned to overlap with the sheath We2 of the wire We extending from the second wire connecting portion 11B. Figure 4 ).
[0047] Furthermore, the second terminal fitting 10B is formed such that the axis of the wire We leading out from the second wire connection portion 11B and the central axis of the second terminal connection portion 12B facing the protruding direction are arranged on the same plane P2. Figure 9 ).
[0048] In the second terminal fitting 10B shown here, a second connecting portion 13B is positioned at a location covered by the sheath We2 of the wire We that leads out from the second wire connecting portion 11B. The second terminal connecting portion 12B and the second connecting portion 13B are connected such that the central axis of the second terminal connecting portion 12B is positioned on a plane P2 coaxial with the axis of the wire We. The second connecting portion 13B shown here is formed in an L-shape, with each end offset according to the position of the bottom of the second wire connecting portion 11B and the position of the outer peripheral surface of the second terminal connecting portion 12B. In this second connecting portion 13B, one end is offset from the bottom of the second wire connecting portion 11B considering the thickness of the sheath We2, while protruding towards the direction of wire We's lead-out, and connected to a flat body that covers the outer peripheral surface of the wire We (the outer peripheral surface of the sheath We2). Furthermore, in this second connecting portion 13B, the other end is offset from the position of the body considering the outer peripheral surface of the second terminal connecting portion 12B, while protruding towards the mating connection direction. The second terminal connection portion 12B protrudes from the other end toward the mating connection direction.
[0049] In the terminal receiving chamber 20a of the housing 20, with the second terminal connection portion 12B offset relative to the first terminal connection portion 12A in the lead-out direction of the wire We, the first terminal accessory 10A and the second terminal accessory 10B are arranged in the aforementioned arrangement direction. In this terminal receiving chamber 20a, the second wire connection portion 11B of the second terminal accessory 10B is arranged next to the first terminal connection portion 12A of the first terminal accessory 10A, and the second terminal connection portion 12B of the second terminal accessory 10B is arranged next to the first wire connection portion 11A of the first terminal accessory 10A. Figure 4 ).
[0050] Here, in order to suppress contact between adjacent first terminal fitting 10A and second terminal fitting 10B, a partition wall 20b (described later as the first partition wall 20b) is provided in the terminal receiving chamber 20a to separate the first terminal fitting 10A and the second terminal fitting 10B. Figure 4 , Figure 7 as well as Figure 8 Therefore, the second connecting portion 13B of the second terminal fitting 10B is positioned opposite to the sheath We2 of the wire We extending from the second wire connection portion 11B on the side opposite to the first terminal fitting 10A. Figure 4 As described above, since the second connecting portion 13B does not interfere with the partition wall 20b in the connector 1, the second terminal accessory 10B can be arranged close to the first terminal accessory 10A in the arrangement direction, and the overall size of the connector in the arrangement direction can be suppressed.
[0051] Specifically, the connector 1 of this embodiment has three wires Wt with terminals. For example, the connector 1 can be configured such that, as a terminal accessory 10, in addition to the previously provided first terminal accessory 10A and second terminal accessory 10B, it also has another second terminal accessory 10B. That is, the connector 1 has one first wire Wt1 with a terminal provided by the first terminal accessory 10A, and two second wires Wt2 with terminals provided by the second terminal accessories 10B (not shown). In this case, in the terminal receiving chamber 20a of the housing 20, with the second terminal connection portion 12B of the other second terminal accessory 10B offset relative to the first terminal connection portion 12A in the lead-out direction of the wire We, the other second terminal accessory 10B is arranged in the arrangement direction opposite to that of the first second terminal accessory 10B. In the terminal housing 20a, the second wire connection portions 11B of each second terminal accessory 10B are arranged on both sides of the first terminal connection portion 12A of the first terminal accessory 10A, and the second terminal connection portions 12B of each second terminal accessory 10B are arranged on both sides of the first wire connection portion 11A of the first terminal accessory 10A.
[0052] In the terminal receiving chamber 20a, in order to suppress contact between adjacent first terminal accessories 10A and second terminal accessories 10B, a partition wall is provided to separate the first terminal accessory 10A from one second terminal accessory 10B, and a partition wall is provided to separate the first terminal accessory 10A from another second terminal accessory 10B. However, the connector 1 of this embodiment is configured to have one first terminal accessory 10A and two second terminal accessories 10B. Therefore, in order to prevent interference between the second connecting portion 13B of another second terminal accessory 10B and the partition wall, it is necessary to pull the other second terminal accessory 10B away from the first terminal accessory 10A in the arrangement direction, which may result in an increase in the overall size in the arrangement direction.
[0053] Therefore, the connector 1 in this embodiment is preferably configured such that, as a terminal accessory 10, in addition to having a first terminal accessory 10A and a second terminal accessory 10B as previously shown, it also has a third terminal accessory 10C. This third terminal accessory 10C has a third wire connection portion 11C as a wire connection portion 11, a third terminal connection portion 12C as a terminal connection portion 12, and a third connection portion 13C as a connection portion 13. Figure 4 , Figure 7 as well as Figure 8That is, preferably, the connector 1 has one first terminal wire Wt1 with a first terminal accessory 10A, one second terminal wire Wt2 with a second terminal accessory 10B, and one third terminal wire Wt3 with a third terminal accessory 10C, as described below.
[0054] Similar to the second terminal accessory 10B, the third terminal accessory 10C has its third terminal connection portion 12C positioned, when viewed from the third wire connection portion 11C, on the side closer to the lead-out direction of the wire We. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8 Therefore, the third terminal accessory 10C is formed in such a shape that the third connecting portion 13C protrudes from the third wire connecting portion 11C toward the lead-out direction of the wire We, and the third terminal connecting portion 12C protrudes from the third connecting portion 13C toward the mating connection direction. Moreover, when viewed from this protruding direction, the third terminal connecting portion 12C is positioned to overlap with the sheath We2 of the wire We led out from the third wire connecting portion 11C.
[0055] Furthermore, the third terminal fitting 10C is the same as the second terminal fitting 10B, and is formed such that the axis of the wire We leading out from the third wire connection portion 11C and the central axis of the third terminal connection portion 12C facing the protruding direction are arranged on the same plane P3. Figure 9 ).
[0056] In the third terminal accessory 10C shown here, similarly to the second terminal accessory 10B, a third connecting portion 13C is positioned at a location covered by the sheath We2 of the wire We that leads out from the third wire connecting portion 11C. The third terminal connecting portion 12C is connected to the third connecting portion 13C such that the central axis of the third terminal connecting portion 12C is positioned on a plane P2 coaxial with the axis of the wire We. The third connecting portion 13C shown here is formed in an L-shape, with each end offset according to the position of the bottom of the third wire connecting portion 11C and the position of the outer peripheral surface of the third terminal connecting portion 12C. In this third connecting portion 13C, one end is offset from the bottom of the third wire connecting portion 11C considering the thickness of the sheath We2, while protruding towards the direction of wire We's lead-out, and connected to a flat body that covers the outer peripheral surface of the wire We (the outer peripheral surface of the sheath We2). Furthermore, in this third connecting portion 13C, the other end is offset from the position of the body considering the outer peripheral surface of the third terminal connecting portion 12C, while protruding towards the mating connection direction. The third terminal connection portion 12C protrudes from the other end in the direction of mating connection.
[0057] However, in the terminal receiving chamber 20a of the housing 20, with the third terminal connection portion 12C offset relative to the first terminal connection portion 12A in the lead-out direction of the wire We, the third terminal accessory 10C is arranged in the arrangement direction opposite to that of the second terminal accessory 10B relative to the first terminal accessory 10A. Therefore, in this terminal receiving chamber 20a, the second wire connection portion 11B of the second terminal accessory 10B and the third wire connection portion 11C of the third terminal accessory 10C are arranged on both sides of the first terminal connection portion 12A of the first terminal accessory 10A, and the second terminal connection portion 12B of the second terminal accessory 10B and the third terminal connection portion 12C of the third terminal accessory 10C are arranged on both sides of the first wire connection portion 11A of the first terminal accessory 10A. Figure 4 ).
[0058] Here, in the terminal receiving chamber 20a, in addition to the aforementioned partition wall 20b (first partition wall 20b) for preventing contact between adjacent first terminal fittings 10A and second terminal fittings 10B, a second partition wall 20c is also provided to separate the first terminal fitting 10A and the third terminal fitting 10C for preventing contact between adjacent first terminal fittings 10A and third terminal fittings 10C. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8 As described above, in order to arrange the second terminal accessory 10B close to the first terminal accessory 10A in the arrangement direction, the second connecting portion 13B of the second terminal accessory 10B is arranged opposite to the sheath We2 of the wire We leading out from the second wire connection portion 11B on the side opposite to the first terminal accessory 10A side. Figure 4 Similarly, the third connection portion 13C of the third terminal accessory 10C is positioned opposite to the sheath We2 of the wire We extending from the third wire connection portion 11C on the side opposite to the first terminal accessory 10A. Figure 4 Therefore, in this connector 1, the third connecting portion 13C does not interfere with the partition wall (second partition wall 20c), and thus the third terminal accessory 10C can be arranged close to the first terminal accessory 10A in the arrangement direction. Therefore, in this connector 1, the second terminal accessory 10B and the third terminal accessory 10C can be arranged close to the first terminal accessory 10A in the arrangement direction, and thus, compared with the case of using two second terminal accessories 10B, the overall size in the arrangement direction can be further suppressed.
[0059] In this connector 1, the housing 20 that houses the three terminal wires Wt (the first terminal wire Wt1, the second terminal wire Wt2, and the third terminal wire Wt3) is configured as follows.
[0060] The housing 20 is formed of insulating materials such as synthetic resin.
[0061] The housing 20 has: a first cylindrical portion 20d, which is formed in a cylindrical shape; and a cylindrical second cylindrical portion 20e, which protrudes from one end of the first cylindrical portion 20d in a manner that aligns the cylindrical axis direction with that of the first cylindrical portion 20d. Figure 1 , Figure 5 and Figure 6 In this housing 20, the space 20d1 inside the first cylindrical portion 20d communicates with the space 20e1 inside the second cylindrical portion 20e. In this housing 20, the respective inner spaces 20d1 and 20e1 are used as terminal receiving chambers 20a. Here, the wire connection portions 11 of all terminal fittings 10 are accommodated in the space 20d1 inside the first cylindrical portion 20d, and the terminal connection portions 12 of all terminal fittings 10 are accommodated in the space 20e1 inside the second cylindrical portion 20e.
[0062] In the space 20d1 inside the first cylindrical portion 20d, the end of the wire We is also accommodated together with the wire connection portion 11. A cutout 20d2 is formed in the first cylindrical portion 20d for leading the wire We outward from the space 20d1. Figure 5 The first cylindrical section 20d shown here is formed into a square tube shape, with a cutout 20d2 on one side.
[0063] In the space 20e1 inside the second cylindrical portion 20e, the terminal connection portion 12 is accommodated in such a way that the mating connection direction of the mating terminal connection portion is aligned with the cylindrical axis direction of the second cylindrical portion 20e. In the space 20e1 inside the second cylindrical portion 20e shown here, the terminal connection portions 12 of two terminal fittings 10 (second terminal fitting 10B, third terminal fitting 10C) are arranged in an orthogonal direction to the cylindrical axis direction of the second cylindrical portion 20e (the mating connection direction of the terminal connection portion 12) and the direction in which the wire We is led out from the wire connection portion 11. The terminal connection portion 12 of the remaining terminal fitting 10 (first terminal fitting 10A) is accommodated at intervals relative to the middle position of these two terminal connection portions 12 in a direction opposite to the direction in which the wire We is led out. Figure 1 and Figure 3 That is, in the space 20e1 inside the second cylindrical part 20e, the terminal connection parts 12 of each of the three terminal fittings 10 are arranged and accommodated at the vertices of the triangle.
[0064] The housing 20 has a fitting portion that engages with the through hole of the electrical equipment's frame. In this housing 20, a second cylindrical portion 20e serves as this fitting portion. Figure 1The fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) is inserted into the through hole of the frame along a fitting connection direction that is the same as the fitting connection direction of the terminal connection portion 12 relative to the mating terminal connection portion. Furthermore, the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) is pulled out of the through hole of the frame along a pull-out direction opposite to the fitting connection direction. The fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) is formed as a cylinder with the insertion and pull-out directions (insertion direction, pull-out direction) relative to the through hole as the cylinder axis direction. The fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) shown here is formed as an elongated cylindrical shape with an orthogonal cross-section of an elongated annular shape relative to the insertion and pull-out direction.
[0065] The connector 1 has an annular sealing member 41, which fills the annular gap between the outer peripheral surface of the mating part (second cylindrical part 20e) and the inner peripheral surface of the through hole of the frame, thereby achieving waterproofing and dustproofing. Figures 1 to 3 The sealing component 41 is formed from an elastic component such as synthetic rubber. Furthermore, the sealing component 41 is assembled onto the outer peripheral surface of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e).
[0066] In this embodiment, the housing 20 includes a housing body 21 having a first cylindrical portion 20d and a second cylindrical portion 20e. Figures 1 to 6 ).
[0067] In the housing body 21, the opening at the end of the first cylindrical portion 20d in the cylindrical axis direction (the opening at the end on the opposite side of the fitting connection direction, hereinafter referred to as the "insertion port") 20d3 ( Figure 5 and Figure 6 All terminal wires Wt (first terminal wire Wt1, second terminal wire Wt2, and third terminal wire Wt3) are housed in the terminal housing chamber 20a. Furthermore, in this housing body 21, the opening 20e2 (the opening at the end of the fitting connection direction side of the terminal connection portion 12 in the direction of the cylinder axis of the fitting portion (second cylinder portion 20e) is provided. Figure 1 , Figure 5 and Figure 6 The terminal fitting 10 is held in the terminal receiving chamber 20a.
[0068] In this embodiment, the housing 20 includes a terminal holding member 22 that is accommodated in a terminal receiving chamber 20a and holds the terminal accessory 10 in the terminal receiving chamber 20a. Figures 1 to 8 The terminal retaining component 22 is formed of an insulating material such as synthetic resin.
[0069] In this terminal holding member 22, a cylindrical terminal receiving portion 22a is provided for each terminal accessory 10 to accommodate and hold the terminal connection portion 12. Figure 1 , Figure 3 as well as Figures 5 to 8In this terminal holding member 22, three terminal receiving portions 22a are formed to match the configuration of the terminal connecting portions 12 of the three terminal accessories 10 shown above.
[0070] The terminal holding member 22 is provided with two wall portions that sandwich the first wire connection portion 11A and the first connecting portion 13A of the first terminal accessory 10A in the arrangement direction. In this terminal holding member 22, one wall portion is placed in the middle, while the second wire connection portion 11B and the second connecting portion 13B of the second terminal accessory 10B are arranged together with the wire We next to the first wire connection portion 11A and the first connecting portion 13A. Therefore, this one wall portion serves as the aforementioned first partition wall 20b. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8 Additionally, in this terminal holding member 22, another wall portion is placed in the middle, and the third wire connection portion 11C and the third connecting portion 13C of the third terminal fitting 10C are arranged together with the wire We next to the first wire connection portion 11A and the first connecting portion 13A. Therefore, this other wall portion is used as the aforementioned second partition wall 20c. Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8 ).
[0071] The terminal holding member 22 is held in the terminal receiving chamber 20a within the housing body 21. For example, the housing body 21 and the terminal holding member 22 are held together by a locking mechanism 51 utilizing multiple parts such as interlocking claws. Figure 5 and Figure 6 The locking mechanism 51 includes a claw-shaped first locking portion (not shown) and a second locking portion 51b that holds the housing body 21 and the terminal holding member 22 in the assembled position by engaging with the first locking portion. Here, the first locking portion is provided on the housing body 21, and the second locking portion 51b is provided on the terminal holding member 22.
[0072] Furthermore, the housing 20 of this embodiment has a retaining portion (hereinafter referred to as "wire retaining portion") 60, which guides and retains all the wires We led out from the cut 20d2 of the first cylindrical portion 20d along the lead-out direction. Figures 1 to 3 , Figure 5 and Figure 6 In this housing 20, all wires We are led outward from the wire holding portion 60. The housing body 21 has a first holding portion 61 serving as one end of the wire holding portion 60. In this first holding portion 61, a guide groove 61a is formed for each wire We to guide the wire We along the lead-out direction. Figure 5 ).
[0073] Furthermore, the housing 20 of this embodiment includes a cover member 23 that is assembled to the housing body 21 and blocks the insertion port 20d3 of the first cylindrical portion 20d. Figure 2 , Figure 3 , Figure 5 as well as Figure 6 The cover component 23 is formed from insulating materials such as synthetic resin.
[0074] The cover component 23 has a plate-shaped closure portion 23a that blocks the insertion port 20d3 of the first cylindrical portion 20d. Figure 5 and Figure 6 The closure 23a is formed in the shape of a rectangular plate to block the rectangular insertion port 20d3 of the first cylindrical portion 20d. The cover member 23 is assembled to the housing body 21 while the closure 23a is brought close to the insertion port 20d3 in the fitting direction of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e).
[0075] Connector 1 includes a sealing component 42 that fills the gap between the first cylindrical portion 20d and the closed portion 23a, thereby achieving waterproofing and dustproofing. Figures 4 to 6 The sealing component 42 is formed from an elastic component such as synthetic rubber. The sealing component 42 has a first sealing portion 42a, which is in close contact with the inner circumferential surface of the end portion on the insertion port 20d3 side of the first cylindrical portion 20d, and also in close contact with the wall surface on the terminal receiving chamber 20a side of the outer periphery of the closing portion 23a, thereby achieving waterproofing and dustproofing of the insertion port 20d3 of the first cylindrical portion 20d. Figure 5 and Figure 6 Furthermore, the sealing component 42 has a second sealing portion 42b, which blocks the cut 20d2 of the first cylindrical portion 20d when the wires We are inserted in a tightly fitted state, thereby achieving waterproofing and dustproofing of the cut 20d2. Figure 5 and Figure 6 The sealing component 42 is assembled together with all the terminal wires Wt (first terminal wire Wt1, second terminal wire Wt2, and third terminal wire Wt3) in the first cylindrical section 20d.
[0076] The cover component 23 remains in the assembled position on the housing body 21. For example, the housing body 21 and the cover component 23 are held together by a locking mechanism 52 using multiple parts such as interlocking claws. Figure 5 and Figure 6The locking mechanism 52 includes a claw-shaped first locking portion 52a and a second locking portion 52b that holds the housing body 21 and the cover member 23 in the assembled position by locking onto the first locking portion 52a. Here, multiple locking mechanisms 52 consisting of the first locking portion 52a provided on the housing body 21 and the second locking portion 52b provided on the cover member 23 are provided on the first cylindrical portion 20d side, and multiple locking mechanisms 52 consisting of the first locking portion 52a provided on the cover member 23 and the second locking portion 52b provided on the housing body 21 are provided on the first retaining portion 61 side.
[0077] Furthermore, the cover component 23 has a second retaining portion 62 that cooperates with the first retaining portion 61 to serve as one end of the aforementioned wire retaining portion 60. Figure 2 , Figure 5 as well as Figure 6 In the second holding part 62, a guide groove 62a is formed for each wire We to guide the wire We along the lead-out direction. Figure 6 In the wire holding part 60, when the housing body 21 and the cover part 23 are assembled, the guide groove 61a of the first holding part 61 and the guide groove 62a of the second holding part 62 form a passage for the wire We.
[0078] The wire holding part 60 is formed by joining the first holding part 61 of the housing body 21 and the second holding part 62 of the cover part 23 in the assembled position. The first holding part 61 and the second holding part 62 are assembled to each other with the same orientation as the assembly direction of the housing body 21 and the cover part 23.
[0079] In addition, the housing 20 of this embodiment has a front retainer 24 for the opening 20e2 of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e). Figures 1 to 3 , Figure 5 and Figure 6 The front retainer 24 is molded from an insulating material such as synthetic resin. The front retainer 24 is inserted into the opening 20e2 of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) with the terminal receiving portion 22a, which houses the terminal connection portion 12, exposed. Figure 1 ).
[0080] The front retainer 24 is held in the assembled position on the housing body 21. For example, the housing body 21 and the front retainer 24 are held together by a locking mechanism 53 using multiple parts such as interlocking claws. Figure 5 and Figure 6The locking mechanism 53 has a claw-shaped first locking portion 53a and a second locking portion 53b that holds the housing body 21 and the front retainer 24 in the assembled position by locking onto the first locking portion 53a. Here, the first locking portion 53a is provided on the housing body 21, and the second locking portion 53b is provided on the front retainer 24.
[0081] The shielding cover 30 is provided to suppress noise intrusion into the housing 20 and to release noise carried by the shielding material SH from the frame of the electrical equipment to the vehicle body. Therefore, the shielding cover 30 is formed of a conductive material such as metal. Furthermore, the shielding cover 30 has a receiving chamber (hereinafter referred to as the "housing receiving chamber") 30a that covers the housing 20 from the outside and houses the housing 20. Moreover, the shielding cover 30 is physically and electrically connected to the shielding material SH, and is also physically and electrically connected to the frame, which serves as a fixed object.
[0082] The shielding cover 30 has a first shielding cover component 31 and a second shielding cover component 32 that are assembled with each other. Figure 1 and Figure 2 ).
[0083] The housing chamber 30a is formed in the first shielding component 31. Figure 2 The first shielding component 31 has: a main wall 31a that covers the housing 20 from the side opposite to the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e); and a peripheral wall 31b that is vertically disposed from the periphery of the main wall 31a toward the fitting connection direction of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) and covers the housing 20 from the side. Figure 1 and Figure 2 The first shielding component 31 utilizes the space surrounded by the main wall 31a and the peripheral wall 31b as the housing chamber 30a.
[0084] In the peripheral wall 31b shown here, the lead-out side of the wire We is cut off, so that the wire holding portion 60 of the housing 20 is cut out from the cut 31b1. Figure 2 It extends outwards.
[0085] The second shielding cover component 32 has: a cylindrical portion 32a that surrounds the wire holding portion 60 extending outward from the cutout 31b1 of the first shielding cover component 31; and a plate-shaped connecting portion 32b that is located between the closing portion 23a of the cover component 23 and the main wall 31a of the first shielding cover component 31, and is physically and electrically connected to the main wall 31a. Figure 2 ).
[0086] The shielding material SH is physically and electrically connected to the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 32a by covering its ends with the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion 32a and by fastening and pressing the annular fastening member 33 covering it from the outer side. Figure 2 The connecting part 32b has an elastic contact part 32c that is capable of elastic deformation. Figure 2 When the first shielding component 31 and the second shielding component 32 are in the assembled position, the elastic contact part 32c is pressed against the wall surface of the main wall 31a by the elastic force.
[0087] In this shielding cover 30, internal thread portions 34A are formed in two locations of the first shielding cover component 31 with the fitting connection direction of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e) being the thread axis direction. By screwing the external thread portion 34B, which is inserted into the through hole of each internal thread portion 34A of the fixing portion 32d of the second shielding cover component 32, into the internal thread portion 34A, the first shielding cover component 31 and the second shielding cover component 32 are threadedly fixed. Figure 2 In the shielding cover 30 shown here, by clamping the fixing part 21a of the housing body 21 between the fixing part 32d and the internal thread part 34A, the external threaded part 34B, which is inserted into the through hole of each fixing part 32d and 21a, engages with the internal thread part 34A, thereby fastening and fixing the housing body 21 together. Figure 1 and Figure 2 ).
[0088] The shield 30 is physically and electrically connected to the frame of the electrical equipment by threading the peripheral wall 31b of the first shield component 31 to the frame of the electrical equipment. For example, two internal thread portions (not shown) are formed on the mounting surface of the frame, and the peripheral wall 31b is threaded onto a threaded shaft orthogonal to the engagement direction of the fitting portion (second cylindrical portion 20e). Each internal thread portion of the peripheral wall 31b has a through hole 35 for insertion of an external threaded component (not shown) that engages with that internal thread portion. Figure 1 and Figure 2 ).
[0089] As shown above, in the connector 1 of this embodiment, among two adjacent terminal fittings 10 in the arrangement direction, the wire connection portion 11 and the terminal connection portion 12 of one terminal fitting 10 are arranged sequentially in a direction opposite to the lead-out direction (axial direction) of the wire We, and the wire connection portion 11 and the terminal connection portion 12 of the other terminal fitting 10 are arranged sequentially in the lead-out direction (axial direction) of the wire We. Furthermore, the connector 1 offsets the terminal connection portion 12 of the other terminal fitting 10 relative to the terminal connection portion 12 of the first terminal fitting 10 in the lead-out direction (axial direction) of the wire We. Therefore, even without increasing the volume of the terminal receiving chamber 20a of the housing 20 in the lead-out direction (axial direction) of the wire We, the connector 1 of this embodiment can ensure the connection area between the wire connection portion 11 and the wire We in the other terminal fitting 10 where the terminal connection portion 12 is offset in the lead-out direction (axial direction) of the wire We. Therefore, the connector 1 can suppress the enlargement of the housing in the lead-out direction (axial direction) of the wire We, and can suppress the enlargement of the overall size in the lead-out direction (axial direction).
