[0001] The present invention relates generally to the field of motor vehicles. In particular, but not exclusively, the present invention relates to a sealing unit configured to be connected to an edge of a rear window of a vehicle. BACKGROUND
[0002] The number of vehicles worldwide is increasing and developing exponentially. These vehicles are a convenient transportation option for traveling to a desired destination, offering comfort, luxury, and ample storage space that can be used for personal purposes. As people's living standards continue to improve, so too does the demand for enhanced functionality and comfort that vehicles provide. In particular, there is an exponentially growing global demand for high-performance vehicles.
[0003] The rear window of a vehicle is a crucial component that provides the driver with visibility and enhances safety when reversing. It is typically made of tempered or laminated safety glass to withstand impacts and shattering. The rear window glass is attached to the rear of the vehicle with a seal. This seal, made of rubber or polyurethane, prevents water, air, and noise from entering the interior. It also helps hold the rear window in place, ensuring it remains securely fixed while driving. Additionally, a sealing lip is incorporated along the trailing edge of the rear window to channel away rainwater or washer fluid that runs down the side.Furthermore, the vehicle includes a trunk lid that is hinged at the rear of the vehicle and provides access to the trunk. In EP'374, the window has a pointed extension with two parallel sealing elements on its upper surface, extending into the gap serving as a water drain. The sealing element near the edge is slightly higher than the other sealing element. Furthermore, a third sealing element is attached to the underside of the edge of the trunk lid, overlapping the window and inserted into the gap between the sealing elements. However, the teaching of EP'374 does not provide for optimized water drainage or the packaging of the components.
