Abstract

A gripping device and gripping method comprise: a gripping device body, a surface suction section which is detachably attached to the gripping device body and has a first suction surface which is capable of holding a surface of an object by suction; a side surface gripping section which is detachably attached to the gripping device body and has a first gripping section and a second gripping section which are capable of gripping an outer surface of the object; and a control device which selects either the surface suction section or the side surface gripping section based on transport target data of the object.
