Abstract

A clock (100) comprising a plate (101) and at least one body (102, 102') arranged to define a closed-loop optical path for at least one first laser beam traversing the optical path in a first direction through a plasma-based amplifying medium (110). A mirror (105) is movable and associated with an actuator (108) connected to an electronic processing unit (114) to modify a length of the optical path. A shaking mechanism (113) is positioned between the plate (101) and the body (102) to subject the body (102) to a shaking motion. The amplifying medium (110) is arranged to generate, in the first direction, two waves of the same linear polarization. The processing unit (114) is arranged to control the actuator (108) so that the waves have substantially the same intensity. The detector (107) is arranged to provide a first signal, representative of a beat frequency between the waves of the first beam, constituting a clock signal. Vehicle equipped with such a clock. FIGURE IN ABRIDGED DIAGRAM: Fig. 1.
