Description

[0001] Centrifuge drum and centrifuge with such a centrifuge drum

[0002] The present invention relates to a centrifuge drum according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a centrifuge with such a centrifuge drum.

[0003] Centrifuges with a self-emptying drum with a vertical axis of rotation are known, for example from DE 20 2018 100 291 U1. Discharge slots are incorporated into the drum shell, which radially penetrate the drum shell from the inside to the outside. The piston slide of DE 20 2018 100 291 U1 is located radially inward of the drum shell and abuts against it at the top when raised. The circumferentially distributed discharge slots in the drum shell, which radially penetrate the drum shell, have their inlet in this document radially outside the axially movable piston slide, which can release them for solids discharge when lowered.

[0004] Centrifuges with a self-emptying bowl with a vertical axis of rotation – also called self-emptying separators – are often used for the centrifugal processing of products – especially suspensions – that contain erosive particles. The erosive particles are usually heavier than the clarified phase or the separated phases and thus concentrate in the separated solids, which can lead to severe erosion stresses in the area of the discharge slots in the bowl during bowl discharge.

[0005] This particularly applies to the webs between the discharge slots in the drum shell, which can usually be provided in the drum shell of the drum base. To reduce erosion damage caused by erosive particles, it is known to protect the webs radially outside the drum with appropriate wear protection elements.

[0006] To protect the webs between the discharge slots in the drum base, internal state-of-the-art technology involves placing, for example, "trough-shaped" protective plates radially from the inside in front of the webs. For attachment, the protective plates are hooked at one end and hooked into the webs. At the other end, the protective plates can have fastening tabs that are bent around the web during assembly to secure them. Such protective plates must be replaced regularly to maintain their protective effect. The fastening tabs, in particular, often cause problems in practice, as they can break off during operation, meaning the tabs are no longer secured and the protective plates are no longer held in place.

[0007] EP 1 572 371 A1 proposes reducing wear on the outer surface of a separator drum with permanently open nozzle inserts, caused by product discharge from the nozzle. This is achieved by replaceable wear protection elements that are attached to the outside of the drum, specifically in the wear-prone area. US 2 695 748 shows an older prior art that provides for other wear protection inserts that are attached radially from the outside in the wear-prone area of the drum.

[0008] Based on the prior art, the object of the invention is to provide a centrifuge drum in which the protective elements can be securely and easily attached to the webs and outlet openings of the centrifuge drum. Furthermore, the invention should preferably also provide improved erosion protection for the webs and outlet openings.

[0009] This object is achieved by the subject matter according to claim 1. Furthermore, a centrifuge, in particular a separator, is provided, which has a centrifugal drum according to one of the claims relating thereto.

[0010] Accordingly, a centrifuge drum with a vertical axis of rotation D is provided, wherein the centrifuge drum is intended to separate a product to be processed into a solid phase and at least one liquid phase in a centrifugal field and wherein the centrifuge drum has at least the following:

[0011] - a drum shell that encloses or delimits a separation chamber in which the actual centrifugal separation of the product into different phases takes place;

[0012] - wherein the separation chamber has a solids collection chamber radially outwardly in which the solid phase separated from the flowable product collects during the separation and / or clarification process;

[0013] - a discharge system for removing the solid phase from the solid collection chamber of the centrifugal drum, whereby

[0014] - during solids emptying, several solids outlet openings can be released, which are distributed circumferentially in the drum shell of the centrifugal drum and penetrate it radially from the inside to the outside, whereby

[0015] - a wear protection element is inserted radially from the inside into the respective solids outlet opening in a form-fitting manner. The geometry of the wear protection elements is therefore adapted to the geometry of the solids outlet openings and the associated bevels in the webs. A further advantage is that the respective wear protection element can be pushed into the respective solids outlet opening during assembly with respect to the centrifugal drum (particularly alone) by a movement from radially inside to outside and is placed against the respective beveled recess in the web. In this way, the protective elements can be securely and easily attached to the centrifugal drum, resulting in improved protection of the drum, in particular of the webs between the solids outlet openings.

[0016] It is further advantageously provided that between two solids outlet openings adjacent in the circumferential direction, a continuous web is formed in the drum shell and that the respective solids outlet opening has a slot-like or slit-like basic cross-section which tapers radially from the inside to the outside in the drum shell, wherein the continuous webs in the drum shell have a substantially triangular cross-section in a horizontal section and wherein the geometry of the wear protection elements inserted radially from the inside into the respective solids outlet openings corresponds substantially to the geometry of the webs.

[0017] Preferably, a respective protective element is inserted in a form-fitting manner radially from the inside into a respective first solids outlet opening and is additionally fixed in a form-fitting manner to a second solids outlet opening adjacent in the direction of rotation or to a web delimiting the latter.

[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment, the respective webs can have a radially inner bevel at an angle a to the radial direction on their leading side in the direction of rotation, with the angle a preferably being between 30° and 80°. The side lagging in the direction of rotation can be radially oriented.

[0019] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the respective solids outlet opening is delimited on two adjacent webs in and / or against the circumferential direction by a first, semicircular or groove-like fillet leading with respect to the direction of rotation and / or a second, semicircular or groove-like fillet trailing.

[0020] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the bevel of the respective web with respect to the direction of rotation of the centrifugal drum and to the solids collection space in the centrifugal drum runs radially outwards from the radially inside at a respective first, leading solids outlet opening to a respective second, trailing solids outlet opening.

[0021] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the bevel has a first radially inner end and a second radially outer end and that the bevel of the respective web has or forms the rounding leading in the direction of rotation.

[0022] According to an advantageous embodiment, the respective wear protection element can be designed as a single piece. This creates a wear protection element that is easy and therefore advantageous to install.

[0023] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the respective wear protection element has a U-shaped basic geometry, which can be easily manufactured and assembled, for example, from a sheet metal.

[0024] According to an advantageous embodiment, the respective wear protection element can have a first leg and a second leg as well as a rounded base leg, wherein the first, here lower leg, essentially covers a lower horizontal side of the respective solids outlet opening relative to a vertical axis of rotation, and the second, here upper leg, essentially covers an upper horizontal side of the respective solids outlet opening, and wherein the rounded base leg engages in the semicircular or groove-like rounding of the respective solids outlet opening, which extends in the direction of rotation. In this way, the solids outlet opening is well protected against wear, particularly on the sides exposed to the solids.

[0025] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the first leg and the second leg have, at their radially inner edges in the assembled state, a radius which essentially corresponds to the outer radius of a piston valve (of the emptying system) arranged in the drum - in particular vertically movable - for opening and closing the solids outlet openings in this area.

[0026] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the respective wear protection element with its U-shaped basic geometry follows the respective bevel starting at the radially outer end of the bevel and fits positively into the rounding of the bevel with its rounded web.

[0027] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the groove-like base leg of the respective wear protection element engages with a hook-like end radially from the inside in a form-fitting manner in the respective rounding of the adjacent solids outlet opening on the leading web, which rounding lags behind with respect to the direction of rotation DR, which additionally secures the wear elements particularly well in the drum shell.

[0028] An additional fastening or securing of the respective wear protection element by means of one or more tabs projecting radially from the drum and bent there, or by gluing or similar is therefore not required, although this is conceivable as an option.

[0029] According to an advantageous optional development, the hook-like end can then be designed in a groove-like manner and protectively cover the respective rounded portion of the respective solids outlet opening, which lags behind in relation to the direction of rotation DR, over part of its radial extent. In this way, this area of the solids outlet opening is also well protected against wear, while still ensuring a secure fit of the wear protection element in a simple manner.

[0030] In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the respective wear protection element is provided with a wear protection coating, either partially or completely, in order to improve the wear resistance and thus the service life of the respective wear protection element. This allows the time intervals for replacing the wear protection elements to be further extended.

[0031] According to a further, particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the wear-resistant coating can also be implemented, for example, by laser welding with wear-resistant material. This creates a particularly durable wear-resistant coating with a defined layer thickness in a simple and therefore advantageous manner.

[0032] According to an advantageous embodiment, the centrifugal drum can have an upper drum section that is at least conical on the inside, as well as a lower drum section. The piston valve can be located completely radially inward of the drum shell. Optionally, it can rest against a step in the drum shell with a portion—e.g., upwards relative to the rotation axis (see the aforementioned DE 20 2018 100 291 U1).

[0033] According to an advantageous embodiment, it can be provided that the centrifugal drum has a product inlet pipe and a distributor, and that the separation chamber has a separation means, such as a plate pack of separation plates and at least one liquid discharge via which a liquid phase can be discharged from the centrifugal drum.

[0034] A centrifuge with a centrifugal drum according to one of the preceding claims is also provided, wherein the centrifugal drum has a vertical axis of rotation and the centrifuge is preferably designed as a self-emptying separator.

[0035] Further advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the remaining subclaims.

[0036] In the following, the invention is described in more detail using exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawing.

[0040] Figure 4: a view of the arrangement largely corresponding to Figure 3

[0041] Fig. 3 with closed solids outlet openings;

[0042] The following description of the figures describes an exemplary embodiment. Individual features of this exemplary embodiment can also be combined with exemplary embodiments not shown and are also suitable as advantageous embodiments of the subject matter described in one or more of the main and subclaims.

[0043] Fig. 1 shows a centrifuge drum 1, which is preferably designed as a self-emptying separator. The centrifuge drum 1 can have a vertical axis of rotation D, as shown in Fig. 1. Not shown here are other elements of the centrifuge, such as a machine frame and a drive unit with a drive spindle. The centrifuge drum 1 is preferably mounted for rotation relative to the machine frame via the drive spindle (not shown here).

[0044] The centrifugal drum 1 can be designed in particular for a substantially continuous operation, ie for a continuous, non-batchwise centrifugal processing of a flowable suspension.

[0045] The centrifuge can be designed as a clarification separator, which is intended to clarify a product P to be processed – usually a free-flowing suspension – in the centrifugal field or to separate it into a solid phase Fs and a single liquid phase Fl. Alternatively or additionally, the centrifuge can also be designed as a separation separator, which is intended to separate a product P to be processed into two liquid phases Fl and a solid phase Fs in the centrifugal field.

[0046] The centrifugal drum 1 can have an upper drum section 11 and a lower drum section 12. These drum sections 11, 12 can be connected to one another in various ways, for example, with a locking ring. The upper drum section 11 and the lower drum section 12 are preferably made of steel. The upper drum section 11 and the lower drum section 12 together define or form a separation chamber 13.

[0047] The centrifugal drum 1 can be single- or double-conical (externally and / or internally). Here, the upper drum section 11, as shown in Fig. 1, is conical on the outside and inside in sections, or in this case, it has a truncated cone-like shell. The lower drum section 12 is essentially cylindrical on the outside. The lower drum section 12 can also be cylindrical on the inside in sections and otherwise conical on the inside. The upper drum section 11 and the lower drum section 12 thus form a drum shell 14 (see Fig. 2) of the centrifugal drum 1. This shell has an inner circumference and an outer circumference. A distributor (not shown here) for supplying product from a product inlet pipe (likewise not shown here) can be arranged in the centrifugal drum 1. The product P flows from the product inlet pipe into the distributor (likewise not shown). In the distributor, the product P is transferred into the rotating system and the separation chamber 13.

[0048] A hood (not shown here) can surround the centrifugal drum 1. It can be arranged on the machine frame and supported by it.

[0049] In the separation chamber 13 of the centrifugal drum 1, the actual centrifugal separation of the product into different phases takes place during the rotation of the centrifugal drum 1. The separation chamber 13 preferably has a separation medium such as a stack of separation discs (not shown here). The separation chamber 13 also has a solids collection chamber 15 radially outside the separation medium, in which the solids separated from the suspension or the flowable product P collect as the solid phase Fs during the separation and / or clarification process.

[0050] Furthermore, the centrifuge 1 can have a single liquid discharge (not shown here), via which a liquid phase Fl can be discharged from the centrifuge drum 1. The liquid discharge can be designed as a so-called paring disc, which operates as a centripetal pump. The liquid discharge can also be realized in another way. In addition, more than one liquid phase Fl can be discharged, for which purpose the centrifuge drum 1 must then be provided with a corresponding further discharge system (e.g. with a further paring disc and a separating plate for supplying a further liquid phase Fl to this paring disc, both not shown).

[0051] To drain the solid phase Fs from the solid collection chamber 15 of the centrifugal drum 1, a discharge system (not fully shown here, see Fig. 2) may be provided, which may be fluid-actuated or electromechanically actuated. The discharge system for the solid phase Fs may comprise a piston valve 16 (not shown in Fig. 1, see Figs. 2, 3, 4), which is moved for a discharge process of the solid phase Fs (compare Figs. 3 and 4). The discharge system may also operate according to a different operating or functional principle.

[0052] During solids emptying, the emptying system – here through movements of the piston valve 16 – releases and opens several solids outlet openings 17, which are circumferentially distributed in the drum shell of the centrifugal drum 1 and penetrate it from the inside out. The piston valve 16 can be located entirely inside the drum shell. However, it can also rest with a portion – e.g., upwards relative to the rotation axis – against a step in the drum shell (see the aforementioned DE 20 2018 100 291 U1). Even then, it is located radially inside the emptying slots or solids discharge openings, which radially penetrate the drum shell.

[0053] The solids outlet openings 17 are preferably arranged in the region of the largest inner diameter of the centrifugal drum 1. They can be provided in the lower part of the drum, but if the centrifugal drum has a different design, they can also be provided in the upper part of the drum.

[0054] In Fig. 2, some of the solids outlet openings 17 are shown as examples in a partial perspective view and in a section-like manner, wherein the section can run in particular through a horizontal center plane of the solids outlet openings 17.

[0055] During operation of the centrifuge, the centrifuge drum 1 rotates around its vertically oriented axis of rotation D in the direction of rotation DR, which corresponds to a clockwise direction. The respective solids outlet openings 17 extend through the drum shell 14.

[0056] Between two circumferentially adjacent solids outlet openings 17a, b, there is a web 18 extending radially from the inside to the outside, which here is formed by the drum shell 14 of the drum base 12. The web 18, with its two circumferential sides or side walls directed in and against the direction of rotation DR, adjoins two adjacent solids outlet openings 17a and 17b.

[0057] The respective solids outlet opening 17 preferably has - in the side view of Fig. 1 - a slot-like or slit-like basic cross-section (see also Fig. 1). The slot-like or slit-like basic cross-section of the respective solids outlet opening 17 is delimited in the region of the smallest cross-section in the circumferential direction and counter to the circumferential direction by a radial R1, R2. The radial R1 lies here, with respect to the direction of rotation DR of the centrifugal drum 1, at the leading boundary of the respective solids outlet opening 17, and the radial R2 lies with respect to the direction of rotation DR of the centrifugal drum 1, at the trailing boundary of the respective solids outlet opening 17.The radial boundary of the respective solids outlet opening 17 is formed by a first—with respect to the direction of rotation DR—leading, semicircular, and groove-like fillet 171a and a second, trailing, semicircular, and groove-like fillet 171b. These fillets correspond to the corresponding leading and trailing sidewall contours of the webs 18 in the direction of rotation.

[0058] The radially inner side of the respective web 18 has a chamfer at an angle α to the radial R2, so that the web runs counter to the direction of rotation DR. The angle α is preferably between 30° and 80°. As a result, the respective web 18 forms a radially inner chamfer 181 with respect to the centrifugal drum 1. The chamfer 181 of the respective web 18 can, for example, with respect to the direction of rotation DR of the centrifugal drum 1 - which here corresponds to the clockwise direction - and to the solids collection chamber 15 in the centrifugal drum 1, from a radially inner end region of a respective first, leading solids outlet opening 17a to the radially outer end region of a respective second, lagging solids outlet opening 17b (see also the radials R2, R1). In this respect, the bevel 181 also has a first radially inner end 1811 and a second, radially outer end 1812.

[0059] The bevel 181 of the respective web 18 thus designs the respective solids outlet opening 17 in such a way that solids Fs are ejected from the centrifugal drum 1 obliquely with a tangential component with respect to the direction of rotation DR of the centrifugal drum 1 and not directly radially to the outer circumference of the drum base 12.

[0060] A respective protective element 200 is inserted in a form-fitting manner radially from the inside into a respective first solids outlet opening 17b and, particularly preferably according to a design variant, can also be fixed in a form-fitting manner radially on the inside to an adjacent second solids outlet opening 17a, which leads in the direction of rotation (see Fig. 2).

[0061] As a result, the bevel 181 or the respective web 18 in the area of the leading circumferential side, where the solids emerge from the drum during solids emptying, are well protected against abrasive wear by the respective protective element 200. The respective wear element 200 is preferably made of a metallic material, particularly preferably of steel or hard metal. It can be made of a stamped and bent sheet metal, but it can also be manufactured using another manufacturing process.

[0062] The bevel 181 thus has a corresponding groove-like fillet 182. The respective bevel 181 can further have a first vertically extending arcuate fillet 183 at its radially inner end 1811 toward the respective first leading solids outlet opening 17a and a second radially outer arcuate fillet 184 at its radially outer end 1812 toward the respective second solids outlet opening 17b, which lags behind with respect to the direction of rotation DR.

[0063] The respective wear protection element 200 is preferably designed in one piece and has a U-shaped basic geometry, wherein the “U” is rotated by 90° in the assembled state of the respective wear protection element 200 and the opening of the “U” is directed against the direction of rotation DR (see Fig. 2).

[0064] The respective wear protection element 200 has a first leg 201 and a second leg 202, as well as a rounded or arcuate base leg 203 connecting the two legs. The two legs 201, 202 of the respective wear protection element 200 each have their greatest extent in the radial direction at the radially outer end 1812 of the respective bevel 181. As a result, the first, here lower and horizontal leg 201 essentially covers a first, here lower side 172 of the respective solids outlet opening 17, and the second, here upper and also horizontal leg 202 essentially covers a second, here upper side 173 (see Fig. 3) of the respective solids outlet opening 17. The base leg 203 can be rounded like a groove so that the solids can slide along it easily when ejected from the centrifugal drum.

[0065] Here, the wear protection elements extend radially to just before the outer circumference of the drum shell, i.e. they end just before this outer circumference.

[0066] The respective wear protection element 200 follows with its groove-like base leg 203 the respective bevel 181, starting at the radially outer end 1812 of the bevel 181 and lies with its groove-like base leg 203 in a form-fitting manner in the corresponding groove-like fillet 182 of the bevel 181.

[0067] The two legs 201, 202 of the wear protection element 200 each end at the radially inner end 1811 of the respective bevel 181 or taper off there, so that they do not protrude radially inward into the solids collection chamber 15. Only the groove-like base leg 203 of the respective wear protection element 200 is continued, which engages the radially inner end 1811 of the respective bevel 181 with a form-fitting fit against the respective first vertically extending fillet 183. The groove-like base leg 203 is continued into the respective fillet 171b, which trails the direction of rotation, of the respective solids outlet opening 17 that is next in the circumferential direction, so that it forms a hook-like end 204.

[0068] According to an advantageous embodiment, the hook-like end 204 can be provided to engage in a form-fitting manner with the respective rounded portion 171b of the respective solids outlet opening, which is trailing with respect to the direction of rotation DR, which additionally secures the wear elements particularly well in the drum shell. The hook-like end 204 can then also be designed in a groove-like manner and cover the respective rounded portion 171b of the respective solids outlet opening 17, which is trailing with respect to the direction of rotation DR, entirely or over part of its radial extent in a protective manner.

[0069] In this way, the respective wear protection element 200 is inserted radially inward into the respective solids outlet opening 17 in a form-fitting manner. The geometry of the wear protection elements 200 is accordingly adapted to the geometry of the solids outlet openings 17 and the associated bevels 181 in the webs 18. This results in the respective wear protection element 200 being easily pushed from the radial inside into the respective two adjacent solids outlet openings 17 during assembly with respect to the centrifugal drum 1 and being placed against the respective beveled recess 181 of the web 18.

[0070] After insertion, the respective wear protection element 200 is positively secured. Since it is pressed radially outward by centrifugal force during operation, it adheres particularly well to the inside of the drum shell in the area of the respective web. It is also held in position by the piston slide. Additional fastening or securing of the respective wear protection element 200 radially outward by means of tabs protruding radially from the drum and bent there, by gluing, or the like, is therefore not required, although it is conceivable as an option.

[0071] The positive fixation of the respective wear protection element 200 simplifies assembly and also protects the adjacent solids outlet opening. Furthermore, the positive fixation enables easy replacement of the wear protection elements 200.

[0072] This creates a particularly secure and robust connection between the respective wear protection element 200 and the respective solids outlet opening 17. To improve the wear resistance and thus the service life of the respective wear protection element 200, it can be provided with a wear protection coating. In particular, welding with wear protection material—also known in technical terms as "armoring"—has proven very effective, as this allows for a high-thickness wear protection layer to be achieved.
