Description

[0001] A METHOD FOR REAGENT-FREE WATER PURIFICATION FROM IRON AND MANGANESE.

[0002] Field of technology.

[0003] The present invention relates to methods and devices for purifying industrial and natural waters from iron and manganese by oxidizing impurities with ozone followed by filtration.

[0004] State of the art.

[0005] Purification of industrial and natural waters from manganese and iron is a pressing task for the production of food and chemical industries, requiring a systematic approach and the use of effective filtration and purification methods.

[0006] A method for purifying water from iron compounds is known from the prior art according to patent US4780215A [1] “Water Purification Device”, which includes obtaining ozone-enriched air by passing a stream of air through an electric arc, feeding the ozone-enriched air stream into water located in a well (borehole), removing water after oxidation of impurities from the well (borehole) and filtering it.

[0007] The disadvantages of this method include low efficiency of oxidation of impurities due to the short time and area of contact of ozone with water, since after a short passage of ozone through a layer of water (bubbling), it freely flows into the surrounding space. To ensure the required degree of oxidation of impurities, a large flow rate of ozone is required. It is indicated that an air outlet is located at the top of the well (borehole), this leads to a free leakage of ozone, which has not had time to react in the thickness of water, such a layout can be harmful to human health. The method does not disclose the preferred method of filtration and the order of removal of sediment formed in the well during the oxidation of impurities.

[0008] A method for purifying water from manganese and iron compounds is known from the prior art according to patent SU1546435A1 [2] "Method for purifying water from manganese and iron compounds", which includes ozonation of the source water followed by filtration through a granular load, which is a composition of zeolite, expanded clay or quartz sand with tetravalent manganese hydroxide. The disadvantage of this method is the need for periodic renewal of the granular load, the filtration efficiency of which decreases over time.

[0009] A method for purifying groundwater from iron and manganese is known from the prior art according to patent RU2105729C1 [3] “Method for purifying groundwater from iron and manganese”, including ozonation and sequential two-stage filtration through a granular load with water supplied from the bottom up in the first stage and from the top down in the second stage, characterized in that before water is supplied to the first stage, it is subjected to simplified aeration, and ozonation is carried out before the second stage of the filter in an amount of 3.5-5.5 mg / dm3. 3 , and the diameter of the porous loading of the first stage of the filter is 1.25-2.5 mm, the second stage 0.63-1.25 mm.

[0010] The disadvantage of this method is the need for periodic renewal of the granular loading and the need for oxidation in two stages, which is not always technologically justified.

[0011] A method for purifying industrial wastewater using electrochemical methods and additional oxidation processes is known from the prior art according to patent RU2624643C2 [4] “Method and device for electrochemical treatment of industrial wastewater and drinking water”, which includes a phase of preparing the contaminated medium by sedimentation, a reaction phase in the first reactor vessel, where the contaminated medium is treated with reactor electrodes made of fixed stainless steel plates, through which direct current is passed with electrocoagulation, electrooxidation, electroflotation and disinfection of the medium by means of ozone circulation and UV irradiation with circulation and electromagnetic and ultrasonic treatment, a reaction phase in the second reactor vessel, where the contaminated medium is treated with reactor electrodes made of fixed steel plates, through which direct current is passed with subsequent passage through an additional set of reactor electrodes made of fixed aluminum plates with electrocoagulation, electrooxidation, electroflotation and disinfection of the medium by means of ozone circulation and UV irradiation with circulation and electromagnetic and ultrasonic treatment, a coagulation and flocculation phase, a separation phase by sedimentation, an additional oxidation phase with simultaneous ozonation and ultraviolet radiation treatment, a filtration phase through a sand filter and an activated carbon filter. The disadvantages of this method include the complex design of the equipment for its implementation, its redundancy for the purposes of water purification from impurities, among which iron and manganese predominate, including the use of reactors with electrodes for electrocoagulation, electrooxidation and electroflotation is energy-intensive and requires regular replacement of the electrodes.

[0012] A method for purifying water from iron and manganese is known from the prior art according to patent CN101224928 A [5], in which oxidation is carried out with ozone, a coagulant is introduced to carry out coagulation in a coagulation pool, and then the water undergoes filtration with a microporous membrane.

[0013] The disadvantage of using methods using coagulants is the need for their constant introduction and dosing during the water purification process, which is not always technologically justified, leads to additional costs and complication of the equipment.

[0014] A device and method for purifying water from manganese are known from the prior art according to publication CN110372131 A [6], according to the specified method, water and ozone are mixed through an ejector, a gas-water mixture is obtained, which is fed to static mixing, and then to a reaction tank, where the oxidation of impurities occurs, while the residual ozone is removed to an ozone destructor and water is fed to flow filtration on a filter with a membrane made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), during the filtration process the sediment is additionally filtered on a filter press, the filtrate after the membrane filter is pumped into a device for additional filtration from manganese.

[0015] The device for implementing the specified method includes an ozone generator, pumps, pipelines, an ejector, a static mixer, a reaction tower, a tank with a filter, a PVDF membrane filter, a plate-and-frame filter press, an ozone destructor, a buffer pool, and a deep filtration purification device.

[0016] This publication was chosen as a prototype.

[0017] The disadvantages of this method and device are the lack of a separate settling tank for sedimentation of insoluble impurity oxidation products, which leads to excessive contamination of the filters. The membrane of the first filter made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a membrane with a filtration rating of 0.1 μm, such a membrane has a relatively high cost and its use at an early stage of cleaning requires its frequent backwashing due to the presence of a large number of impurities at this stage.

[0023] The claimed technical result: efficient reagent-free water purification, reduction of the cost of the water purification process, reduction of the labor intensity and frequency of maintenance of filtering equipment, ensuring efficient oxidation of impurities, economical use of ozone.

[0024] The technical result is achieved by the fact that the specified process allows for the purification of water from iron and manganese impurities without the use of reagents, including for ensuring flotation and coagulation, which simplifies and reduces the cost of the design of water purification equipment and eliminates the costs associated with the purchase and supply of reagents.

[0025] The device for implementing this method also provides reagent-free water purification.

[0026] The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the process of water purification from iron and manganese, the mixing of water with ozone is carried out in an ejector, and then in a static mixer, which ensures the most complete mixing and the greatest complete contact of impurities with ozone, which ensures their most complete oxidation and savings in ozone consumption.

[0027] The device for implementing this method also ensures mixing of water with ozone in the ejector and then in the static mixer.

[0028] The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the process of water purification from iron and manganese, a settling tank is used to settle and separate the insoluble sediment after ozonation, which increases the time of continuous operation of the filters due to the separation of part of the impurities before filtration, this also ensures a reduction in hydraulic resistance and increases the overall service life of the filter elements.

[0029] The device for implementing this method is also equipped with a settling tank for sedimentation; the device can also be equipped with a sediment discharge system.

[0030] The technical result is achieved by the fact that at the first stage of filtration at least one disc filter with a filtration rating of at least 20 μm is used, the use of such disc filters ensures a reduction in the load on tangential filters due to the filtering of coarse pollutants, while such a filtration rating does not create excessive resistance to flow and excessive loads on pumping equipment, while disc filters have the ability to be washed without disassembling and dismantling them.

[0031] The device for implementing this method is also equipped with at least one disc filter with a filtration rating of at least 20 microns.

[0032] The technical result is achieved by the fact that at the second stage of filtration, tangential microfiltration is carried out using the cross-flow method, which ensures a high degree of purification from suspended and colloidal substances, achieving less than 3 mg / dm3. 3 by the total content of iron and manganese (in total), while the tangential microfiltration unit does not require frequent maintenance due to the fact that in the tangential scheme the membrane walls are less susceptible to becoming clogged with impurities due to the flow movement along them.

[0033] The device for implementing this method is also equipped with a cross-flow tangential microfiltration unit.

[0034] The technical result is achieved by the fact that ozone is obtained in a barrier ozonizer from oxygen, and the oxygen is released using zeolite, which ensures the presence of the ozone necessary for the process in the water purification section in the required volume, which ensures the autonomy of the purification line and avoids overproduction of ozone, which increases the cost of water purification.

[0035] The device for implementing this method can also be equipped with an ozonation unit and an oxygen production unit using zeolite.

[0036] The technical result is achieved by the fact that water, having been mixed with ozone in the ejector, is redirected into the ejector for mixing with ozone (ozonation in recirculation mode), which ensures additional saturation of water with ozone for more complete oxidation of impurities.

[0037] The device for implementing the method includes a storage tank for ozonation, which ensures the collection of water from the static mixer and allows water to be supplied to the ejector for ozonation.

[0038] The technical result is achieved by passing excess ozone through a thermal catalytic ozone destructor, which ensures occupational safety standards and protects workers from its effects.

[0039] The device for implementing this method can also be equipped with a thermal catalytic ozone destructor.

[0040] The technical result is achieved by the fact that after ozonation and before the precipitation stage, the oxidation-reduction potential and pH are measured, which makes it possible to adjust the ozone supply and the water circulation rate to achieve the optimal oxidation and filtration mode.

[0041] The technical result is achieved by using several disc filters in order of decreasing filtration rating, with the last filter used being a filter with a filtration rating of 20 μm, which ensures filtration of larger particles before filtration on a filter with a lower filtration rating (20 μm), this increases the time of continuous operation of filters by reducing fouling of filters with a low filtration rating, this also ensures a reduction in hydraulic resistance and increases the overall service life of filter elements.

[0042] The technical result is achieved by the fact that at least one disc filter is washed from contaminants in the direction opposite to filtration, which ensures cleaning of the filters, which ensures a reduction in hydraulic resistance and increases the overall service life of the filter elements.

[0043] The technical result is achieved by the fact that tangential microfiltration by the cross-flow method is carried out using a filter with a filtration rating of 0.2 μm, which is the optimal filtration rating. Membranes with such a filtration rating provide the necessary purity of purification (less than 3 mg / dm 3 iron and manganese impurities) and are less expensive and can be cleaned more easily than membranes with a lower filtration rating.

[0044] The technical result is achieved by the fact that the storage tank for ozonation, which ensures the collection of water from the static mixer, is connected to the settling tank, which ensures the supply of ozonized water for purification. The technical result is achieved by the fact that the upper part of the settling tank is connected to the tank for collecting residual ozone, which ensures the collection of residual ozone for its further use, including for the purposes of oxidation of impurities.

[0045] The technical result is achieved by the fact that the excess ozone is reused for ozonation, which reduces its overall consumption. Structurally, this can be implemented by feeding the excess ozone from the upper part of the settling tank to the ozone generator.

[0046] The technical result is achieved in that the storage tank for ozonation, which ensures the collection of water from the static mixer, can be equipped with a stirrer, which ensures the elimination of sedimentation in the storage tank for ozonation and better oxidation of impurities due to mixing.

[0047] The technical result is achieved in that the storage tank for ozonation, which ensures the collection of water from the static mixer, can be connected to the water supply line for purification, which ensures the supply of water entering the purification directly into the tank for ozonation, and then from the tank for ozonation into the ejector for carrying out ozonation, thereby ensuring:

[0048] 1. Possibility of simplifying the design by eliminating part of the water supply line for purification, which provides direct supply of water entering the purification into the ejector for ozonation.

[0049] 2. Correction of ozone concentration in the storage tank for ozonation by adding non-zonated water.

[0050] 3. Water entering the ozonation storage tank undergoes partial oxidation of impurities before being fed into the ozonation ejector due to the presence of ozone in the ozonation tank, which allows for more efficient use of ozone for oxidation.

[0057] Contaminated water is directed to the ejector with simultaneous supply of ozone to it, where due to the increase of the channel cross-section in the ejector a rarefaction zone is created, where ozone is sucked in, which ensures uniformity of its supply and distribution in the water flow, from the ejector the water saturated with ozone enters the static mixer, where additional mixing of the flow occurs, which increases the efficiency of oxidation due to the increased uniformity of ozone distribution in the volume of water, from the static mixer the water enters the settling tank for sedimentation, where sedimentation occurs in the form of iron and manganese oxides, the settling tank is made in the form of a container with a conical bottom, which has an outlet for unloading the sediment, for example, using a screw, into the tailings storage facility. Excess ozone is removed from the upper part of the settling tank into a thermal catalytic destructor. From the settling tank, water enters the filtration unit with disc filters, where the last filter has a filtration rating of 20 μm, which ensures the removal of most of the insoluble impurities, including manganese and iron oxides. After the filtration unit with disc filters, water enters the tangential flow filtration using the cross-flow method, a filter element with a filtration rating of 0.2 μm is used, and the solutions are separated into a concentrate rich in impurities and permeate in the form of purified water, which enters the tank for purified water, the concentrate is discharged into the settling tank.
