[0004] In particular, the invention relates to a method of using coffee bean membrane, called silver skin, which is generated after roasting green coffee beans, in the production of tiles instead of coffee grounds.
[0005] State of the Art
[0006] The green coffee bean membrane, which is generated during or after roasting the coffee beans and contains up to 20% protein by its weight, is the shell of the green coffee beans, called silver skin, which is not edible due to its lack of nutritional properties and is considered as waste as a result of the process. Roasted green coffee beans have a high fiber content due to the fiber-like structures of the melanoids they contain. It is known that there is a connection between lignin and polysaccharides, which are intermediate units related to the fiber structure. The green coffee bean membrane waste generated after roasting, called silver skin, has a high potential for industrial use due to its low moisture content and non-perishability. In this context, the use of this green coffee bean membrane waste in the production of tiles in the construction industry is of particular importance.
[0007] In the current art, coffee grounds are used as raw material for making tiles. However, coffee grounds used in tile production in current practices impart color to the tiles. For this reason, an alternative production method was needed instead of the production method using coffee grounds in the state of the art.

The aforementioned document relates to an interior tile manufacturing method using coffee ground waste and, more particularly, to an interior tile manufacturing method using coffee ground waste. Said method comprises a first drying step for drying coffee grounds produced from coffee beans after extraction, a bonding step for bonding the coffee grounds dried by the first drying step to a surface of a base tile, and a surface treatment step for treating the surface of the coffee grounds subjected to the bonding step.

[0014] The present invention relates to a method of producing tiles using coffee bean membrane for eliminating the aforementioned disadvantages and providing advantages to the relevant technical field.
[0015] The main object of the invention is to provide a method for producing tiles using coffee bean membrane instead of coffee grounds from green coffee bean membrane waste, called silver skin.

[0019] The invention relates to a method for producing tiles used as floor coverings in the construction industry.
[0020] The process steps of the method for producing tiles according to the invention are as follows: a) Grinding the shell membranes of green coffee beans in a shredder until they are homogeneous, b) Separating the ground shell membranes of coffee beans based on their size, c) Adding 2.5% to 40% of the shell membranes of coffee beans, which are separated based on their size, to the vacuum ceramic clay for making tiles, d) Mixing the resulting mixture homogeneously, e) Rolling the resulting homogeneous clay and coffee bean shell membrane mixture to the specified thicknesses using a plate rolling machine, and degassing, f) Determining the sizes of the degassed clay and cutting it manually or with a tile cutting apparatus, g) Moisturizing and trimming the cut clay plates, h) Allowing the clay plates to dry, i) Sanding the dried clay plates, j) Firing the homogeneous mixture, k) Placing the sanded clay plates into the bisque kiln at 1050 degrees, l) Cleaning and glazing the clay plates coming out of the bisque kiln, m) Placing the glazed clay plates in the glaze kiln at 1050 degrees.

CLAIMS1 . A method for producing tiles used as flooring materials in the construction industry, characterized in that it comprises the following process steps: a) Grinding the shell membranes of green coffee beans in a shredder until they are homogeneous, b) Separating the ground shell membranes of coffee beans based on their size, c) Adding 2.5% to 40% of the shell membranes of coffee beans, which are separated based on their size, to the vacuum ceramic clay for making tiles, d) Mixing the resulting mixture homogeneously, e) Rolling the resulting homogeneous clay and coffee bean shell membrane mixture to the specified thicknesses using a plate rolling machine, and degassing, f) Determining the sizes of the degassed clay and cutting it manually or with a tile cutting apparatus, g) Moisturizing and trimming the cut clay plates, h) Allowing the clay plates to dry, i) Sanding the dried clay plates, j) Firing the homogeneous mixture, k) Placing the sanded clay plates into the bisque kiln at 1050 degrees, l) Cleaning and glazing the clay plates coming out of the bisque kiln, m) Placing the glazed clay plates in the glaze kiln at 1050 degrees.
