Methods for making stencils and occluders using stencils

Abstract

This invention provides a braiding mold and a method for manufacturing an occluder using the braiding mold. The occluder includes an occluder disc, which includes a skeleton. The manufacturing method includes the following steps: providing multiple support rods made of multiple braided filaments; winding each support rod into a ring shape; guiding one support rod to pass through the gaps between the multiple braided filaments of another support rod or its own support rod; arranging the multiple support rings sequentially into a circle; and converging and fixing the ends of the multiple support rings into a bundle to form the skeleton. The occluder manufactured using this support method is interconnected by the support rods passing through the gaps between the multiple braided filaments of another support rod or its own support rod. Compared to occluders manufactured by later fixing with sutures and membranes, the connection is more reliable, improving the reliability and safety of the occluder. Furthermore, this invention also provides a braiding mold for use in this manufacturing method.
