Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a personal care composition, a method of using the composition and a method of promoting or enhancing the deposition of the composition when applied to keratin materials. Background Art

[0002] Many personal care or cosmetic compositions contain active substances that are applied to the skin and / or hair in a rinse-off formulation. Although the rinse-off formulation is rinsed off from the skin and / or hair again after use, the active substance should be deposited on the skin and / or hair. Usually the active substance is directly mixed into the composition, such as shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser or solid or liquid soap. The disadvantage of this procedure is that in most cases only a small amount of active substance remains on the skin during use, so that its effect can be exerted there. Most active substances are usually washed off again when using the rinse-off formulation. This results in the necessity to incorporate a large amount of expensive active substances into the formulation to achieve the desired effect. However, when a large amount of active substances is appropriately used in a rinse-off formulation, undesirable skin irritation is usually observed when the formulation is used. The active ingredient here is especially a cationic active ingredient commonly used in personal care formulations, such as hexamidine dihydroxyethyl sulfonate, which is a new anti-dandruff agent used in hair cosmetic formulations; another example is the alkaloid quinine or its salt, which is also claimed to refresh the scalp and prevent hair loss. However, it is more challenging to retain such active ingredients that are hydrophilic or even have relatively higher water solubility in the formulation and effectively produce their functional benefits on the skin and / or hair.

[0003] Many attempts have been made to improve the deposition effect, especially in rinse-off products, by developing coacervation technology. However, this technology is better developed for hydrophobic active ingredients. In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for personal care compositions, especially rinse-off personal care compositions, which on the one hand allow the amount of active ingredient to be kept at a low level to avoid skin irritation and thus reduce costs, and on the other hand allow the deposition effect of active ingredients that are hydrophilic or even have a relatively good water solubility to be improved during use and produce the desired effect.

[0004] It is therefore an object of the present invention to meet the increasing demand on the market for cosmetic cleansing and conditioning compositions which provide improved deposition of active ingredients, in particular improved deposition of hydrophilic cationic or pseudocationic active ingredients, and which also provide good cleansing and conditioning benefits on the skin and / or hair.

[0005] Sophorolipids are all-natural and consumer-friendly fermented surfactants produced by several yeast species, such as Starmerella. The hydrophilic structural part of the biosurfactant molecule is a disaccharide (i.e., sophorose) and the hydrophobic part is an ω- or (ω-1)-hydroxy fatty acid connected to sophorose via a glycosidic bond. The most common is that the fatty acid chain containing 16-18 carbon atoms can be unsaturated and lactonized to the disaccharide. Sophorolipids as biosurfactants can be used as environmentally friendly surfactants widely used in detergents and cosmetic formulations. EP 0550276 A1 describes a personal care composition, comprising a mild foaming glycolipid used together with a co-surfactant (e.g., SLS). WO1998016192 A1 discloses a bactericidal composition suitable for cleaning fruits, vegetables, skin and hair. The composition can include a mixture of anionic surfactants and sophorolipid biosurfactants. US Patent Application 2014 / 0349902 A1 discloses a hair and skin cleansing composition for obtaining improved skin care benefits and foaming performance, comprising water, at least one biosurfactant and at least one fatty acid.

[0006] The present applicant has now surprisingly found that a personal care composition containing a glycolipid biosurfactant and a hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active ingredient makes it possible to enhance and / or promote the deposition effect of the hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active ingredient on keratin materials, more specifically the personal care composition is a rinse-off composition. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The subject of the present invention is therefore a personal care composition comprising at least:

[0009] a) glycolipid biosurfactants,

[0010] b) hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active compounds;

[0011] The glycolipid is preferably a sophorolipid.

[0012] Preferably 10-90% by weight of the sophorolipid biosurfactant is in the acidic form.

[0013] Preferred hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active compounds are compounds containing at least one basic or quaternized nitrogen atom, and more preferably hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active compounds include amidine compounds, basic amino acids, biguanide compounds, alkaloid compounds, imidazole fungicidal compounds and cationic proteins and / or protein hydrolysates.

[0014] In another aspect, the present invention provides a personal care composition and a method for enhancing or accelerating the deposition of hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active compounds on keratin materials, comprising at least one step of applying an effective amount of the personal care composition to the keratin materials, in particular during or after rinse application.

[0015] In another aspect, the present invention also relates to the use of the personal care composition according to the invention for enhancing or promoting the deposition of hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active compounds on keratin materials. In a further aspect, the present invention relates to the use of the personal care composition for simultaneously caring for and cleaning keratin materials, such as hair and / or skin.

[0016] Surprisingly and unexpectedly it has been found that the above objects are achieved by a personal care composition containing a glycolipid biosurfactant and a hydrophilic cationic or pseudocationic active ingredient. The composition produces an enhanced deposition effect of the hydrophilic cationic or pseudocationic active ingredient on keratin materials, the personal care composition being in particular a rinse-off product. [0093] Quinine Sulfate: BR from Sinoreagent, Preparation Procedure

[0094] 1. Add cationic polymer (polyquaternium-10, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride and acrylamidopropyltrimonium chloride / acrylamide copolymer) into water (60 mL) under stirring at 200 rpm until the cationic polymer is evenly dispersed and completely swollen in water.

[0095] 2. Add the surfactant to the solution containing the polymer (obtained in step 1) while stirring at 200 rpm. Sodium cocoyl isethionate needs to be heated to 70°C to completely dissolve in the solution.

[0096] 3. Dissolve the hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active ingredient in water (5 mL) under stirring at 200 rpm, and then add it to the solution obtained in step 2 under stirring at 200 rpm until the system is homogeneous.

[0097] 4. The other ingredients including thickener (PEG / PPG-120 / 10 trimethylolpropane trioleate (and) laureth-2), preservative (sodium benzoate) and sodium chloride were added to the solution obtained in step 3 under stirring at 200 rpm.

[0098] 5. Add water to the solution obtained in step 4 to 100 g and adjust the pH of the formulation solution to 4.5-5.5 with citric acid solution or triethanolamine.

[0099]

[0100] Evaluation Method

[0101] A piece of wool fabric (5 cm x 5 cm, 0.6 g) was placed in the bottom of a 150 mL beaker, and then 3 g of the formulation with the active ingredient was added to the fabric and 12 g of deionized water was added to dilute. The diluted formulation was stirred on the fabric at 100 rpm with a magnetic stirring bar for 1 hour to provide sufficient time for coagulation and sedimentation. The wool fabric was then removed from the beaker and stirred in 500 g of pure water for 15 seconds to remove loosely attached coagulation deposits. The wool fabric was then moved into a centrifuge and submerged overnight with 30 g of MeOH until the attached coacervate and active ingredient were completely dissolved. The supernatant was collected by centrifugation at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes after the wool fabric was removed from the tube.

[0102] Sedimentation measurement methods

[0103] The collected supernatant was tested in MeOH at a specific wavelength (265 nm for hexamidine and 280 nm for quinine) by using UV spectrophotometry (Perkin Elmer 365). The amount of active ingredient in MeOH was then calculated based on a standard curve using the UV absorption value minus the blank control value measured using a formulation without active ingredient. The deposition rate was determined by dividing by the initial amount of active ingredient added to the formulation.

[0104] Deposition rate of hydrophilic cationic or pseudo-cationic active ingredients

[0105]
