Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a first example, a user equipment (UE) may receive sidelink control information that schedules resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicates a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) pattern. The UE may recognize that, for symbols of the DMRS pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a DMRS, and may receive sidelink data transmission based on the symbols of the DMRS pattern carrying the DMRS for each tone. In a second example, the UE may receive control signaling indicating a configuration for a non-overlapping relationship between a first resource for receiving a DMRS and a second resource for receiving a phase tracking reference signal. The UE may receive the DMRS on the first resource and the phase tracking reference signal on the second resource based on the non-overlapping relationship.

Technical Field

[0003]

[0013] The following relates generally to wireless communications, and more particularly, to sidelink shared channel demodulation reference signal configuration schemes. Background Art

[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, etc. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (e.g., long term evolution (LTE) systems, improved LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems). These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform extended orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations or one or more network access nodes, each base station or network access node simultaneously supporting communication for multiple communication devices (which may be referred to as user equipment (UE)).

[0005] In some examples, a first user equipment (UE) may perform sidelink communication with a second UE. For example, the first UE may send sidelink control information (SCI) to the second UE, and the SCI schedules resources for receiving physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) transmissions. The first UE may send PSSCH transmissions to the second UE on the scheduled resources. In some cases, the method used by the second UE to receive PSSCH transmissions may suffer performance losses compared to other methods that the second UE may adopt. Summary of the invention

[0006] The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices and apparatuses that support sidelink shared channel demodulation reference signal configuration schemes. In general, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to receive a sidelink demodulation reference signal (DMRS) on a full-frequency DMRS port. For example, the UE may receive sidelink control information that schedules resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicates a DMRS pattern. The UE may identify that, for a symbol of the DMRS pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a DMRS, and may receive a sidelink data transmission based on the symbols of the DMRS pattern carrying a DMRS for each tone.

[0007] In addition, the described techniques can provide for a UE to receive a sidelink DMRS and a sidelink phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) in an overhead-limited manner, where the increased overhead can make the coding loss greater than the performance gain of tracking phase or Doppler. For example, the UE can receive control signaling indicating a configuration for a non-overlapping relationship between a first resource for receiving DMRS and a second resource for receiving PTRS. The UE can receive DMRS on the first resource and PTRS on the second resource based on the non-overlapping relationship.

[0063] A user equipment (UE) may perform sidelink communication in which the UE communicates with another UE. For example, a first UE may send sidelink control information (SCI) to a second UE, the SCI scheduling resources for sidelink data transmission (e.g., physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) transmission). The first UE may modulate the sidelink data transmission, and may send the sidelink data transmission on the scheduled resources. In some examples, in order to help the second UE demodulate the modulated sidelink data transmission, the first UE may also send a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) on one or more resources allocated for the sidelink data transmission. The one or more resources on which the DMRS is sent may be referred to as a DMRS pattern.

[0064] When a resource for scheduling a sidelink data transmission has an associated subcarrier spacing (SCS) below a threshold amount (e.g., at or above 960 kHz), the UE may be able to interpolate the frequency domain channel to receive a sufficient amount of DMRS for performing demodulation. For example, some frequency tones of a DMRS symbol may not be configured to carry a DMRS signal, and the UE may interpolate the DMRS signal across these frequency tones. However, as the bandwidth increases, the subcarrier spacing (SCS) may be increased above the threshold amount to support the increased bandwidth. Additionally or alternatively, the SCS may be increased above the threshold amount as a measure to mitigate phase noise. In either case, when the SCS is increased above the threshold amount, the second UE may not be able to perform interpolation with sufficient accuracy to demodulate the sidelink transmission, or may experience reduced performance when demodulating the sidelink data transmission.

[0065] In order to enable the second UE to use the increased SCS while mitigating performance loss, the second UE may identify that, for at least one symbol of the DMRS pattern, the second UE is to receive DMRS on each tone (e.g., subcarrier) in the tone set spanned by the sidelink data transmission. Such a configuration may be referred to as a full-density or full-frequency DMRS configuration. Additionally or alternatively, the second UE may update aspects of the port configuration to form a full-density DMRS configuration, and may receive DMRS according to the updated port configuration. For example, the second UE may combine ports to form a virtual port referred to as a full-frequency DMRS port; may determine that two ports do not undergo code division multiple access (CDM), and may receive DMRS through one of the ports; may determine to use one of the comb configurations in the comb configuration set to receive DMRS; or any combination of these partial configuration update techniques. Such techniques, methods for determining when to use them, and associated control signals may be described in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0066] In some examples, the first UE may send a phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) to the second UE to help the second UE compensate for phase noise, Doppler shift, or both. In some examples, the PTRS resource may have an associated time density so that the PTRS may be sent after each DMRS symbol. For example, after the first symbol on which the DMRS is sent, the PTRS may be sent on the next symbol and may be sent according to the time density until another DMRS signal on another symbol. When another DMRS signal is sent on another symbol, the PTRS may be sent on the next symbol and may be sent according to the time density until another DMRS signal is received. Executing such a method may result in overhead, which may cause more coding losses than the performance gain obtained from tracking phase or Doppler. Therefore, such a UE may experience performance loss.

[0067] To help mitigate such performance loss, the first UE may schedule PTRS resources and DMRS resources while compensating for the time allocation of each of them. One way the first UE may do this is to send dynamic control signaling (e.g., SCI) or semi-dynamic control messenger (e.g., medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE), radio resource control (RRC) signaling) to indicate the PTRS resources. Alternatively, the first UE may determine a DMRS pattern, and may indicate the DMRS pattern to the second UE. The second UE may determine a PTRS pattern based on the DMRS pattern, the PTRS pattern indicating one or more resources for receiving PTRS and not overlapping with the resources of the DMRS pattern.

[0068] Various aspects of the disclosure are first described in the context of a wireless communication system. Additional aspects of the disclosure are described in the context of additional wireless communication systems, DMRS patterns, port configurations, port configuration update schemes, and process flows. Various aspects of the disclosure are further illustrated by and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow charts related to a sidelink shared channel demodulation reference signal configuration scheme.

The term "carrier" can refer to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources with a defined physical layer structure for supporting the communication link 125. For example, the carrier used for the communication link 125 can include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel can carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating operations for the carrier, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 can support communication with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. According to the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 can be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation can be used with both frequency division duplex (FDD) component carriers and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers.

[0077] The signal waveform transmitted on the carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multicarrier modulation (MCM) techniques such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may include a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a subcarrier, where the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both). Therefore, the more resource elements received by the UE 115 and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate for the UE 115 can be. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial layers may further increase the data rate or data integrity for communication with the UE 115.

[0078] The time interval for the base station 105 or the UE 115 may be in a basic time unit (which may be, for example, referred to as T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds sampling period, where Δf max It can indicate the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N f The communication resource time intervals may be organized according to radio frames each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).

[0079] Each frame may include a plurality of consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame may be divided into subframes (e.g., in the time domain), and each subframe may be further divided into a number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a number of symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of a cyclic prefix prefixed in front of each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, a time slot may be further divided into a plurality of mini-time slots containing one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain one or more (e.g., N f The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.

[0080] A subframe, slot, mini-slot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100, and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in bursts of shortened TTIs (sTTIs)).

[0081] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier, for example, using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for a physical control channel may be defined by the number of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth or a subset of a system bandwidth of a carrier. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a group of UEs 115. For example, one or more of the UEs 115 may monitor or search a control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates at one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. An aggregation level for a control channel candidate may refer to the number of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to multiple UEs 115 and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .

[0082] In some examples, the base stations 105 may be mobile and, therefore, provide communication coverage for mobile geographic coverage areas 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same base station 105. In other examples, overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different base stations 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of base stations 105 provide coverage for respective geographic coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.

[0083] The wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication, or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) or mission-critical communication. UE115 can be designed to support ultra-reliable, low-latency or critical functions (e.g., mission-critical functions). Ultra-reliable communication can include private communication or group communication, and can be supported by one or more mission-critical services (such as mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT), mission-critical video (MCVideo), or mission-critical data (MCData). Support for mission-critical functions can include prioritization of services, and mission-critical services can be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, critical mission, and ultra-reliable low-latency can be used interchangeably herein.

[0084] In some examples, UE 115 may be able to communicate directly with other UE 115 on a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., using a peer-to-peer (P2P) or D2D protocol). One or more UE 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within a geographic coverage area 110 of a base station 105. Other UE 115 in such a group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105 or otherwise unable to receive transmissions from the base station 105. In some examples, groups of UE 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system in which each UE 115 transmits to each other UE 115 in the group. In some examples, the base station 105 facilitates the scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between UE 115 without involving the base station 105.

[0085] In some systems, the D2D communication link 135 can be an example of a communication channel (such as a sidelink communication channel) between vehicles (e.g., UE 115). In some examples, the vehicle can communicate using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, or some combination of these items. The vehicle can use signals to send information related to traffic conditions, signal scheduling, weather, safety, emergency situations, or any other information related to the V2X system. In some examples, the vehicle in the V2X system can communicate with roadside infrastructure (such as a roadside unit), or communicate with the network via one or more network nodes (e.g., base station 105) using vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication, or communicate with both.

[0086] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connection, and other access, routing or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) for managing access and mobility and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)) for routing packets to an external network or interconnecting to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management for UE115 served by a base station 105 associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be transmitted via a user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to a network operator IP service 150. Operator IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.

[0087] Some of the network devices, such as the base station 105, may include subcomponents such as an access network entity 140, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). Each access network entity 140 may communicate with the UE 115 via one or more other access network transport entities 145, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmit / receive points (TRPs). Each access network transport entity 145 may include one or more antenna panels. In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity 140 or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and ANCs) or merged into a single network device (e.g., base station 105).

[0088] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands, typically in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Often, the region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band, because the wavelengths range from approximately one decimeter to one meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features, but the waves may be sufficient to penetrate structures for macro cells to provide service to UEs 115 located indoors. Transmissions on UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) compared to transmissions using smaller frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.

[0089] The wireless communication system 100 can utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can employ licensed assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band (such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band). When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, devices (such as base stations 105 and UEs 115) can employ carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations in unlicensed bands can be based on a carrier aggregation configuration in combination with component carriers operating in a licensed band (e.g., LAA). Operations in unlicensed spectrum can include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, as well as other examples.

[0090] The base station 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the base station 105 or UE 115 may be located within one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels (which may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming). For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly (such as an antenna tower). In some examples, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with the base station 105 may be located at a variety of geographical locations. The base station 105 may have an antenna array having antenna ports of a number of rows and columns that the base station 105 may use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support radio frequency beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.

[0091] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a base station 105, a UE 115) to form or direct an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals transmitted via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating in a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals transmitted via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each of the antenna elements may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other orientation).

[0092] The wireless communication system 100 may be a packet-based network that operates according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, the communication at the bearer or packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer may be IP-based. The radio link control (RLC) layer may perform packet segmentation and reassembly for transmission on a logical channel. The medium access control (MAC) layer may perform priority processing and multiplexing of logical channels to transport channels. The MAC layer may also support retransmission at the MAC layer using error detection techniques, error correction techniques, or both to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the radio resource control (RRC) protocol layer may provide the establishment, configuration, and maintenance of an RRC connection that supports radio bearers for user plane data between UE 115 and base station 105 or core network 130. At the physical layer, transport channels may be mapped to physical channels.

[0093] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. These systems can be multiple access systems that can support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). A wireless network (e.g., a wireless local area network (WLAN), such as a Wi-Fi (i.e., an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11) network) may include an access point (AP) that can communicate with one or more wireless or mobile devices. The AP can be coupled to a network such as the Internet, and can enable mobile devices to communicate via the network (or communicate with other devices coupled to the access point). A wireless device can communicate bidirectionally with a network device. For example, in a WLAN, a device can communicate with an associated AP via a downlink (e.g., a communication link from an AP to a device) and an uplink (e.g., a communication link from a device to an AP). A wireless personal area network (PAN) (which may include a Bluetooth connection) can provide for short-range wireless connections between two or more paired wireless devices. For example, a wireless device such as a cellular phone can utilize wireless PAN communication to exchange information such as audio signals with a wireless headset.

[0094] In general, the described techniques prepare for UE 115 to receive sidelink DMRS over a full frequency DMRS port. For example, UE 115 may receive sidelink control information that schedules resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicates a DMRS pattern. UE 115 may recognize that, for a symbol of the DMRS pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry DMRS, and may receive a sidelink data transmission based on the symbols of the DMRS pattern carrying the DMRS for each tone.

[0095] In addition, the described techniques can provide for UE 115 to receive a sidelink DMRS and a sidelink phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) in non-overlapping resources. For example, UE 115 can receive control signaling indicating a first resource for receiving DMRS and a second resource for receiving PTRS, wherein the first resource is non-overlapping with the second resource. UE 115 can receive DMRS on the first resource and PTRS on the second resource based on the first resource being non-overlapping with the second resource in time.

[0096] Figure 2A and Figure 2B Examples of wireless communication systems 200-a and 200-b according to aspects of the present disclosure are shown. In some examples, the wireless communication systems 200-a and 200-b can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, UEs 115-a, 115-b, 115-c, and 115-d can be as described with reference to Figure 1 An example of UE 115 is described.

[0097] exist Figure 2A In some examples, UE 115-a may perform sidelink communication in which UE 115-a communicates with another UE 115-b. For example, UE 115-a may send an SCI 205 to UE 115-b, and SCI 205 schedules data resources 212 and one or more resources 215 for a sidelink data transmission 210 (e.g., a PSSCH transmission). UE 115-a may modulate the sidelink data transmission 210 before transmission, and may send the sidelink data transmission 210 on the scheduled data resources 212. In some examples, to assist UE 115-b in demodulating the modulated sidelink data transmission, UE 115-a may also send a DMRS on one or more resources 215 (e.g., DMRS resources 215-a and 215-b) allocated for the sidelink data transmission. One or more DMRS resources 215 may be collectively referred to as a DMRS pattern. SCI 205 may include priority information (e.g., a quality of service (QoS) value), PSSCH resource assignments (e.g., frequency or time resources used for PSSCH), resource reservation period (e.g., if enabled), PSSCH DMRS mode (e.g., if more than one mode is configured or pre-configured), a second SCI format (e.g., information about the size of the second SCI), a 2-bit beta offset for second stage control resource allocation, the number of PSSCH DMRS ports (e.g., 1 or 2), a 5-bit modulation and coding scheme (MCS), and one or more reserved bits.

[0098] Each of the data resources 212 and the DMRS resources 215 may span a number of tones 225 and a number of symbols 230. For example, in this example, the sidelink data transmission may be allocated 12 tones 255 and 12 symbols 230. The data resources 212 may span 10 of the allocated symbols 230 and may each span multiple tones 225. Likewise, the DMRS resources 215-a and 215-b may each span a single symbol 230 and may span multiple tones 225.

[0099] When the DMRS resources 215 have an associated subcarrier spacing (SCS) below a threshold amount (e.g., at or above 960 kHz), some of the tones 225 of each DMRS resource 215 may be used for a first port to receive DMRS, and other tones 255 may be used for a second port (e.g., of another UE 115) to receive DMRS. Although some tones 225 may be used for the first port and other tones 255 may be used for the second port, the UE 115-b may be able to interpolate the frequency domain channel so that the two ports may be used independently to perform demodulation. However, as bandwidth increases (e.g., to 2 GHz or greater), the SCS may increase above the threshold amount to support the expanded bandwidth when the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size is below the threshold amount. Additionally or alternatively, the SCS may be increased above the threshold amount as a measure to mitigate phase noise. In either case, when the SCS increases above the threshold amount, constraints on the coherent bandwidth may increase. Additionally, UE 115 - b may be unable to perform interpolation with sufficient accuracy to demodulate sidelink data transmission 210 .

[0100] In order to enable UE 115-b to use the increased SCS while reducing performance loss, UE 115-b may update one or more aspects of the port configuration. For example, UE 115-b may identify that, for at least one symbol of the DMRS pattern, UE 115-b is to receive DMRS on each tone 225 (e.g., subcarrier) in the set of tones spanned by the sidelink data transmission 210. For example, UE 115-b may determine that UE 115-b is to receive DMRS on each tone 225 included in the DMRS resources 215-a or 215-b in their spans. Such a configuration may be referred to as a full-density or full-frequency DMRS configuration. Additionally or alternatively, if DMRS is received on two layers, UE 115-b may determine that the ports of each layer are not code division multiplexed together. Instead, one layer may be received on a first comb and a second layer may be received on a second comb. An example of a comb may be referenced to Figure 4A and / or Figure 4BIn some examples, two or more of these aspects may be updated together. For example, UE 115-a may use a full-density DMRS configuration for one layer and determine that the full-density DMR configuration for one layer is not code-division multiplexed with ports of another layer.

[0101] Some examples of various aspects of updating port configurations are described herein. For example, the present disclosure may describe techniques for implementing the construction and use of full-frequency DMRS ports (e.g., in Figure 5 The present disclosure may describe techniques by which UE 115 may receive DMRS using ports not in a CDM group when two layers are used (e.g., Figure 6 The present disclosure may describe an indication of whether a comb in a comb set is available for use (e.g., in Figure 7 The present disclosure may describe techniques by which different DMRS ports may be used on different symbols (e.g., Figure 8 middle).

[0102] UE 115-b may employ one or more methods to determine when to update aspects of the port configuration. For example, UE 115-b may be pre-configured or configured (e.g., configured via RRC, signaled or activated via SCI, or activated via MAC-CE) to define a full-frequency DMRS port by combining two ports into one port. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-b is pre-configured to determine that there are no ports via CDM when configured with rank 2. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-b may be assigned a single port associated with a first comb, and the second comb may not be used because the second comb may be used by another UE 115 (e.g., for receiving DMRS). For example, UE 115-b may have a first port and a rank of 1, while another UE 115 may have a full-frequency port and a rank of 2.

[0103] Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-b may determine to update aspects of the port configuration based on the SCS and a delay spread of a channel (e.g., a channel carrying sidelink data transmission 210). Additionally or alternatively, if the MCS is above a threshold value, UE 115-b may determine to update aspects of the port configuration (e.g., use a port with a higher frequency density, determine that two ports are not CDMed, or determine to use a single comb configuration). The performance of an MCS above a threshold value may be more sensitive to channel estimation errors. As such, UE 115-b may update aspects of the port configuration when the MCS is above a threshold value.

[0104] Additionally or alternatively, a table may be defined for PSSCH DMRS parameters to indicate the updated aspects. For example, a table may indicate which ports may be assigned to UE 115-b and which ports may not exist. Additionally or alternatively, a table may indicate whether multiple ports are to be combined into a virtual port. Such a table may include information about the time domain allocation of DMRS. The allocated index may be communicated via SCI 205, by another SCI, or by other control signaling.

[0105] Additionally or alternatively, the SCI 205 may include one or more bits to indicate that an aspect is updated. For example, for rank 1, the SCI 205 may indicate that two ports may be combined into a single port. Additionally or alternatively, when scheduled with a single port, the SCI 205 may include an indication of whether another comb is used (e.g., a comb associated with a different port). For rank 2, the SCI 205 may indicate that there are no ports that are CDMed. Additionally or alternatively, a new configuration formed by ports with full frequency density may be defined.

[0106] In certain applications (e.g., V2X), more than one DMRS resource 215 (e.g., and therefore, more than one DMRS symbol) may be included. As such, different CDM groups may be used in different symbols, which may enable denser coverage in the frequency domain. For example, for a first configuration type, a first port may be transmitted on a first DMRS resource 215-a (e.g., a first DMRS symbol), and a second DMRS port may be transmitted on a second DMRS resource 215-b (e.g., a second DMRS symbol). Thus, each resource element (RE) may be covered in the frequency domain by a combination of two ports. A preconfigured DMRS pattern sequence or DMRS table for indicating which port to transmit in each symbol may be used to indicate a change in pattern from one symbol to another.

[0107] exist Figure 2BIn some examples, UE 115-c may send (e.g., in a high frequency band) a phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) to UE 115-d to help UE 115-d compensate for phase noise, Doppler shift, or both. Similarly, in certain scenarios (e.g., V2X communications), multiple DMRS resources may be used to compensate for Doppler shift and / or track phase noise. Typically, PTRS signals may be of lower density in the frequency domain (e.g., there may be one signal every 1, 2, or 4 resource blocks (RBs)), which may result in less overhead than DMRS signals. Thus, dynamic indication may not occur for PTRS, and the DMRS pattern may change from time slot to time slot (e.g., based on the SCI). In some such examples, a certain level of overhead may occur between DMRS and PTRS, such that performance degradation may occur.

[0108] To help mitigate such performance loss, the UE 115-c may dynamically (e.g., via SCI) or semi-dynamically (e.g., via MAC-CE or RRC) change the PTRS resources based on the DMRS resources 215 (e.g., DMRS resources 215-c and 215-d) such that the PTRS resources 220 do not overlap with the DMRS resources (e.g., in time, frequency, or both). One method by which the UE 115-c may do this is to provide a dynamic indication of the PTRS in the SCI. In such a case, the UE 115-c may define an allocation table and the index of the row may be communicated via the SCI. The frequency density for the PTRS may be the same as the previously configured frequency density (e.g., configured in a previous RRC configuration), but the time allocation may change dynamically. Another method by which the UE 115-c may indicate non-overlapping DMRS-PTRS resources may be for the UE 115-c to perform a semi-dynamic change by indicating the PTRS mode in RRC or MAC-CE signaling.

[0109] Yet another method may involve UE 115-c dynamically binding DMRS and PTRS configurations. For example, UE 115-c may determine a DMRS pattern (e.g., including DMRS resources 215-c and 215-d), and may indicate the DMRS pattern to UE 115-d. UE 115-d may determine, based on the DMRS pattern, an associated PTRS pattern indicating one or more resources 220 for receiving PTRS and that do not overlap with the resources of the DMRS pattern. In some cases, UE 115-c may send RRC signaling (e.g., providing an RRC configuration) to indicate a PTRS frequency density.

[0110] The techniques described herein may have one or more advantages. By using full-frequency DMRS ports, UE 115-b may use increased SCS while mitigating the performance penalty associated with performing interpolation. Additionally or alternatively, by receiving a dynamic or semi-dynamic indication of PTRS, UE 115-d may experience less overhead in determining a PTRS resource on which to receive PTRS.

[0111] Figure 3 Examples of DMRS patterns 300-a, 300-b, 300-c, 300-d, and 300-e according to aspects of the present disclosure are shown. In some examples, the DMRS patterns 300-a, 300-b, 300-c, 300-d, and 300-e can be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and / or 200. For example, the DMRS patterns 300-a, 300-b, 300-c, 300-d, and 300-e can represent the DMRS patterns used for the wireless communication system 100 and / or 200. Figure 2A An allocation of received sidelink data transmission 210 is described.

[0112] Each DMRS pattern 300 may include data resources 305 and DMRS resources 310, which may be respectively as shown in FIG. Figure 2A or Figure 2B Examples of data resources 212 and DMRS resources 215 are described. Two-symbol DMRS patterns (e.g., DMRS patterns 300-a and 300-d), three-symbol DMRS patterns (e.g., DMRS patterns 300-b and 300-e), and four-symbol DMRS patterns (e.g., DMRS pattern 300-c) can be configured for use by a transmitting UE 115. The transmitting UE 115 can select a DMRS time pattern based on channel conditions, and the DMRS time pattern can be signaled to the receiving UE 115 (e.g., via SCI). DMRS patterns 300-a, 300-b, and 300-c can represent patterns for a 12-symbol PSSCH, and DMRS patterns 300-d and 300-e can represent patterns for a 9-symbol PSSCH, although it should be noted that DMRS patterns for other PSSCH lengths can also be defined.

[0113] One and two layer transmission can be supported using quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), 64-QAM, and 256-QAM. For one layer transmission, a single port can be used. For two layer transmission, two ports on one comb can be used using CDM. Another comb can be used for data transmission. An example of a comb can be referenced Figure 4A and Figure 4BIn some examples, UE 115 can be configured to update one or more aspects of the port configuration associated with DMRS pattern 300 to receive DMRS signaling according to a full density or full frequency configuration, such as with respect to Figure 5 Described in more detail.

[0114] Figure 4A and Figure 4B Examples of port configurations 400-a and 400-b according to aspects of the present disclosure are shown. In some examples, port configurations 400-a and 400-b can implement aspects of wireless communication system 200 and / or DMRS patterns 300-a, 300-b, 300-c, 300-d, and 300-e. For example, port configurations 400-a and 400-b can represent as described with reference to Figure 2A and 2B DMRS resource 215 as described or as referenced Figure 3 The configuration of ports on the DMRS resource 310 is described.

[0115] like Figure 4A As shown, UE 115 may receive a DMRS for sidelink data transmission on symbol 407-a of at least one of layer grids 402-a and 402-b. Layer grids 402-a and 402-b may indicate a DMRS for a respective layer and allocated for receiving sidelink data transmission (e.g., as shown in FIG. 1 ). Figure 2A 402-a and 402-b). The DMRS transmission may be referred to as a one-layer DMRS transmission if the UE 115 receives the DMRS on one of the layer grids 402-a or 402-b. The DMRS transmission may be referred to as a two-layer DMRS transmission if the UE 115 receives the DMRS on both layer grids 402-a and 402-b.

[0116] In layer grid 402-a, UE 115 may receive DMRS on a first set of tones 412 for port 405 or a second set of tones 412 for port 410. The first set of tones 412 and the second set of tones 412 may be arranged such that each tone 412 in the first set of tones 412 is directly adjacent to a tone 412 in the second set of tones 412. As such, the first set of tones may be referred to as being in a first comb configuration, and the second set of tones may be referred to as being in a second comb configuration, wherein the first set of comb configurations and the second set of comb configurations span the total set of tones in layer grid 402-a. Similarly, in layer grid 402-b, UE 115 may receive DMRS on a third set of tones 412 for port 415 or a fourth set of tones 412 for port 420. The third set of tones 412 and the fourth set of tones 412 may be arranged such that each tone in the third set of tones 412 is directly adjacent to a tone 412 in the fourth set of tones 412. As such, the third set of tones may be referred to as being in a third comb configuration, and the fourth set of tones may be referred to as being in a fourth comb configuration.

[0117] Layer grids 402-a and 402-b may span the same set of symbols 407 and tones 412. As such, a first set of tones for port 405 may overlap with a third set of tones 412 for port 415, and a second set of tones for port 410 may overlap with a fourth set of tones 412 for port 420, in time and frequency. Thus, ports 405 and 415 may be referred to as being in a first CDM group, and ports 410 and 420 may be referred to as being in a second CDM group. When UE 115 receives a two-layer DMRS transmission, port 405 may be CDM-ed with port 415, and port 410 may be CDM-ed with port 420.

[0118] like Figure 4B As shown, UE 115 can receive DMRS for sidelink data transmission on two symbols 407-b and 407-c of at least one of layer grids 402-c, 402-d, 402-e and 402-f. If UE 115 receives DMRS on one of layer grids 402-c, 402-d, 402-e and 402-f, the DMRS transmission can be referred to as a layer of DMRS transmission. If UE 115 receives DMRS on two layer grids in layer grid 402, three layer grids in layer grid 402, or all four layer grids 402, the DMRS transmission can be referred to as two-layer DMRS transmission, three-layer DMRS transmission, or four-layer DMRS transmission, respectively.

[0119] In layer grid 402-c, UE 115 may receive DMRS on a first set of tones 412 for port 405 or a second set of tones 412 for port 410. The first set of tones 412 and the second set of tones 412 may be arranged such that each tone 412 in the first set of tones 412 is directly adjacent to a tone 412 in the second set of tones 412. As such, the first set of tones may be referred to as being in a first comb configuration, and the second set of tones may be referred to as being in a second comb configuration, wherein the first set of comb configurations and the second set of comb configurations span the total set of tones in layer grid 402-b. Similarly, in layer grid 402-d, UE 115 may receive DMRS on a third set of tones 412 for port 415 or a fourth set of tones 412 for port 420.

[0120] Similarly, in layer grid 402-e, UE 115 may receive DMRS on a fifth set of tones 412 for port 425 or a sixth set of tones 412 for port 430. The fifth set of tones 412 and the sixth set of tones 412 may be arranged such that each tone in the fifth set of tones 412 is directly adjacent to a tone 412 in the sixth set of tones 412. As such, the fifth set of tones may be referred to as being in a fifth comb configuration, and the sixth set of tones may be referred to as being in a sixth comb configuration. Similarly, in layer grid 402-f, UE 115 may receive DMRS on a seventh set of tones 412 for port 435 or an eighth set of tones 412 for port 440. The seventh set of tones 412 and the eighth set of tones 412 may be arranged such that each tone in the seventh set of tones 412 is directly adjacent to a tone 412 in the eighth set of tones 412. As such, the seventh set of tones 412 may be referred to as being in a seventh comb configuration, and the eighth set of tones 412 may be referred to as being in an eighth comb configuration.

[0121] Layer grids 402-c, 402-d, 402-e, and 402-f may span the same set of symbols 407 and tones 412. As such, a first set of tones for port 405 may overlap in time and frequency with a third set of tones 412 for port 415, a fifth set of tones 412 for port 425, and a seventh set of tones 412 for port 435. Likewise, a second set of tones for port 410, a fourth set of tones for port 420, a sixth set of tones for port 430, and an eighth set of tones for port 440 may overlap together in time and frequency. Thus, ports 405, 415, 425, and 435 may be referred to as being in a first CDM group, and ports 410, 420, 430, and 440 may be referred to as being in a second CDM group. When UE 115 receives two layers of DMRS transmissions, one port of the first CDM group may be CDMed with another port of the first CDM group, and one port of the second CDM group may be CDMed with another port of the second CDM group. For example, port 405 may be CDMed with port 415, and port 410 may be CDMed with port 420. Typically, the patterns of port configurations may be orthogonal in a 2 by 2 frequency-time resource element (RE) set. If a DMRS port is scheduled for UE 115 and a co-scheduled UE 115 is served on the same CDM group, PTRS may not be present for UE 115 receiving PSSCH. In some examples, UE 115 may be configured to update one or more aspects of port configuration 400-a or 400-b to receive DMRS signaling according to a full density or full frequency configuration, such as with respect to Figure 5 Described in more detail.

[0122] Figure 5 An example of a port configuration update scheme 500 according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the port configuration update scheme 500 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and / or 200 and / or the port configuration 400-a and / or 400-b. For example, the layer grid 502 can be as described with reference to Figure 4A and / or Figure 4B An example of a layer grid 402 is depicted.

[0123] Initially, the UE 115 may be configured with a port configuration in the layer grid 502 that includes a first port 505 associated with a first set of tones 520 in a symbol 525 and a second port 510 associated with a second set of tones 520 in the symbol 525. In some cases, the UE 115 may determine to update the port configuration (e.g., as described in reference to Figure 2A and 2BIn such a case, the UE 115 may combine the first port 505 and the second port 510 to form a virtual port 515. The virtual port 511 may span each tone in the tones 520 of the layer grid 502, and thus may be referred to as a full frequency port. The UE 115 may use the full frequency port to receive the DMRS transmission.

[0124] Figure 6 An example of a port configuration update scheme 600 according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the port configuration update scheme 600 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and / or 200 and / or the port configuration 400-a and / or 400-b. For example, the layer grids 602-a and 602-b can be as described with reference to Figure 4A and / or Figure 4B An example of a layer grid 402 overlapping in time and frequency is depicted.

[0125] Initially, the UE 115 may be configured with a port configuration in the layer grid 602-a that includes a first port 605 associated with a first set of tones 625 in a symbol 630 and a second port 610 associated with a second set of tones 625 in the symbol 630. Additionally, the UE 115 may be configured with a port configuration in the layer grid 602-b that includes a third port 615 associated with a third set of tones 625 in the symbol 630 and a fourth port 620 associated with a fourth set of tones 625 in the symbol 630. The first port 605 and the third port 615 may form a first CDM group, and the second port 610 and the fourth port 620 may form a second CDM group.

[0126] In some cases, UE 115 may determine to update the port configuration (e.g., as described in Figure 2A and 2B In such a case, the UE 115 may determine that the first port 605 will not be CDMed with the third port 615 and / or the second port 610 will not be CDMed with the fourth port 620. Therefore, the UE 115 may not use the third port 615 and / or the fourth port 620 when receiving the DMRS transmission (e.g., the UE 115 may use at least one of the first port 605 and the second port 610).

[0127] Figure 7 An example of a port configuration update scheme 700 according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the port configuration update scheme 700 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and / or 200 and / or the port configuration 400-a and / or 400-b. For example, the layer grid 702 can be as described with reference to Figure 4A and / or Figure 4B An example of a layer grid 402 is depicted.

[0128] Initially, the UE 115 may be configured with a port configuration in the layer grid 702 that includes a first port 705 associated with a first set of tones 715 in a symbol 720 and a second port 710 associated with a second set of tones 715 in the symbol 720. The first set of tones 715 may be referred to as a first comb configuration, and the second set of tones 715 may be referred to as a second comb configuration.

[0129] In some cases, UE 115 may determine to update the port configuration (e.g., as described in Figure 2A and 2B ). In such a case, UE 115 may select one of the comb configurations (e.g., the first comb configuration) for receiving DMRS. Another comb configuration (e.g., the second comb configuration) may be used by another UE 115 to receive DMRS. UE 115 may receive DMRS transmission using the selected comb configuration.

[0130] Figure 8 An example of a port configuration update scheme 800 according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the port configuration update scheme 800 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and / or 200 and / or the port configuration 400-a and / or 400-b. For example, the layer grid 802 can be as described with reference to Figure 4A and / or Figure 4B An example of a layer grid 402 is depicted.

[0131] Initially, the UE 115 may be configured with a port configuration in the layer grid 802 that includes a first port 805 associated with a first set of tones 815 in the symbol 820-a and a second port 810 associated with a second set of tones 815 in the symbols 820-a and 820-b. The first set of tones 815 may be referred to as a first comb configuration, and the second set of tones 815 may be referred to as a second comb configuration.

[0132] In some cases, UE 115 may determine to update the port configuration (e.g., as described in Figure 2A and 2B). In such a case, the UE 115 may combine the first port 805 and the second port 810 into a virtual port 812. After performing the combination, the UE 115 may select one of the comb configurations (e.g., the first comb configuration) to be used for receiving the DMRS on the virtual port 812 in the first symbol 820-a. In the first symbol 820-a, another comb configuration (e.g., the second comb configuration) may be used to receive data or may be used by another UE 115 to receive the DMRS. In the second symbol 820-b, the UE 115 may use another comb configuration (e.g., the second comb configuration) to receive the DMRS. In the second symbol 820-b, the UE 115 may use the comb configuration (e.g., the first comb configuration) selected for the first symbol 820-a to receive data. Alternatively, the comb configuration selected for the first symbol 820-a may be used by another UE 115 to receive the DMRS. The UE 115 may receive the DMRS using a comb configuration selected for the first symbol 820-a and another comb configuration selected for the second symbol 820-b. Thus, the virtual port 812 may function as a full-frequency DMRS port.

[0133] Fig. 9 900 according to aspects of the present disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 900 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the UEs 115-e and 115-f can be as described with reference to Figure 1 An example of UE 115 is described.

[0134] At 905, UE 115-f may send an indication of a port configuration for receiving a demodulation reference signal. UE 115-e may receive an indication of the port configuration. In some examples, at 905, UE 115-f may receive an indication of a port configured to receive DMRS on each tone in a set of tones (e.g., a full-frequency DMRS port).

[0135] At 910, UE 115-f may send an SCI scheduling for sidelink data transmission (eg, PSSCH transmission) across a set of tones and indicating a DMRS pattern. UE 115-e may receive the SCI.

[0136] At 915, the UE 115-e may identify that, for at least one symbol of the DMRS pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a DMRS. In some examples, the at least one symbol of the DMRS pattern includes a first symbol and a second symbol.

[0137] At 920, the UE 115-e may update aspects of the port configuration. In some examples, the port configuration may include a first port and a second port configured to receive a DMRS, and the updating aspects may involve combining the first port with the second port to form a virtual port on which the DMRS is to be received. Additionally or alternatively, the port configuration may include a first port and a third port, wherein the updating aspects may involve determining that when the DMRS is received on the first port, the first port will not be CDMed with the second port. Additionally or alternatively, the first port may be associated with a first comb configuration, and the second port may be configured with a second comb configuration, wherein the first port is configured to receive the DMRS using the first comb configuration and the second port is configured to receive the DMRS using the second comb configuration. In such a case, the updating aspects may involve determining to receive the DMRS using a single one of the first comb configuration or the second comb configuration. Additionally or alternatively, the updating aspects may involve combining the first port and the second port to form a virtual port associated with the first comb configuration and the second comb configuration.

[0138] UE 115-e may update aspects based on the SCS, channel delay spread, or both. Additionally or alternatively, UE 115-e may update aspects based on an MCS received by UE 115-e. For example, if the MCS has a value above a threshold value, UE 115-e may update aspects. In some examples, the SCI (e.g., the SCI sent at 910) may include parameters for indicating aspects to be updated. The parameters may include an index of a table corresponding to the updated aspects. In such a case, updating the aspects may involve selecting the updated aspects from the table according to the index.

[0139] At 925, UE 115-f may send a sidelink data transmission based on at least one symbol of the DMRS pattern carrying a DMRS for each tone.

[0140] At 930, the UE 115-f may send a DMRS based on the updated aspects (e.g., the aspects updated at 920). If the updated aspects involve combining a first DMRS port and a second DMRS port, the DMRS may be received on a virtual port. If the updated aspects involve determining that the first port and the third port will not be CDMed, the DMRS may be received on the first port. If the updated aspects involve determining to use a single one of the first comb configuration or the second comb configuration, the UE 115-e may receive the DMRS using a single comb configuration of the first comb configuration or one of the second comb configurations. In an example where the UE 115-e receives an indication of a port configured to receive DMRS on each tone in a set of tones, the UE 115-e may receive the DMRS using the port.

[0141] In the case where UE 115-e combines the first port and the second port associated with the first comb configuration and the second comb configuration, UE 115-e can use the first comb configuration to receive the DMRS in the first symbol on the virtual port. In such a case, receiving the DMRS in the first symbol can involve avoiding receiving the DMRS using the second comb configuration. Similarly, UE 115-e can use the second comb configuration to receive the DMRS in the second symbol on the virtual port. In such a case, receiving the DMRS in the second symbol can involve avoiding receiving the DMRS using the second comb configuration.

[0142] Fig.10 1000 according to aspects of the present disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 1000 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the UEs 115-g and 115-h can be as described with reference to Figure 1 An example of UE 115 is described.

[0143] At 1005, the UE 115-h may determine a non-overlapping relationship between a first resource for a DMRS and a second resource for a PTRS. In some aspects, determining the non-overlapping relationship may involve determining a DMRS pattern of a DMRS associated with a PTRS pattern. The DMRS pattern may indicate the first resource, and the PTRS pattern may indicate the second resource.

[0144] At 1010, UE 115-h may send control signaling for indicating a configuration for a non-overlapping relationship. In some aspects, the control signaling may include a first control signaling for indicating a first resource and a second control signaling for indicating a second resource. The first control signaling and the second control signaling may indicate that the first resource and the second resource are in a non-overlapping relationship due to the selection of the resource by UE 115-h. In such a case, the second control signaling may include SCI signaling for indicating the second resource. Alternatively, the second control signaling may include MAC-CE signaling or RRC signaling for indicating the second resource. UE115-g may receive the control signaling. In the case where UE 115-h determines the DMRS mode, the control signaling may indicate the DMRS mode.

[0145] At 1015, UE 115-h may send a configuration of a frequency density for PTRS via RRC signaling. UE 115-g may receive a configuration of a frequency density for PTRS via RRC signaling.

[0146] At 1020, the UE 115-g may determine a first resource based on the DMRS pattern. Additionally, the UE 115-g may determine a PTRS pattern based on the DMRS pattern, wherein the PTRS pattern indicates a second resource for receiving the PTRS.

[0147] At 1025, the UE 115-h may send a DMRS on the first resource based on the non-overlapping relationship.

[0148] At 1030 , the UE 115 - h may send a PTRS on the second resource based on the non-overlapping relationship.

[0149] Fig.11 A block diagram 1100 of a device 1105 is shown in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The device 1105 may be an example of aspects of a UE 115 as described herein. The device 1105 may include a receiver 1110, a communication manager 1115, and a transmitter 1120. The device 1105 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).

[0150] The receiver 1110 may receive information such as packets, user data, or control information associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, and information related to a sidelink shared channel demodulation reference signal configuration scheme, etc.). The information may be communicated to other components of the device 1105. The receiver 1110 may be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1415 are described. The receiver 1110 may utilize a single antenna or a group of antennas.

[0151] The communications manager 1115 may receive sidelink control information that schedules resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicates a demodulation reference signal pattern, recognize that: for at least one symbol of the demodulation reference signal pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a demodulation reference signal; and receive the sidelink data transmission based on at least one symbol of the demodulation reference signal pattern carrying a demodulation reference signal for each tone. The communications manager 1115 may also send sidelink control information to the UE that schedules resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicates a demodulation reference signal pattern, wherein for at least one symbol of the demodulation reference signal pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a demodulation reference signal; and send the sidelink data transmission based on at least one symbol of the demodulation reference signal carrying a demodulation reference signal for each tone. By identifying that each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a demodulation reference signal for at least one symbol of a demodulation reference signal pattern, the device 1105 may be able to use an increased SCS while mitigating the performance loss associated with performing interpolation at the increased SCS.

[0152] The communication manager 1115 may also receive control signaling for indicating a configuration for a non-overlapping relationship between a first resource for receiving a demodulation reference signal and a second resource for receiving a phase tracking reference signal; and receive a demodulation reference signal on the first resource and receive a phase tracking reference signal on the second resource based on the non-overlapping relationship. The communication manager 1115 may also determine a non-overlapping relationship between a first resource for a demodulation reference signal and a second resource for a phase tracking reference signal; send control signaling for indicating a configuration for a non-overlapping relationship; and send a demodulation reference signal on the first resource and send a phase tracking reference signal on the second resource based on the non-overlapping relationship. By receiving a configuration for a non-overlapping relationship, the device 1105 may experience less overhead when determining the second resource. The communication manager 1115 may be an example of various aspects of the communication manager 1410 described herein.

[0153] By including or configuring the communication manager 1115 according to examples as described herein, the device 1105 (e.g., a processor controlling or otherwise coupled to the receiver 1110, the transmitter 1120, the communication manager 1115, or a combination thereof) can support techniques for the communication manager 1115 to use full-frequency DMRS ports, which can enable the device 1105 to use increased SCS while mitigating the performance loss associated with performing interpolation. In addition, the device 1105 can support techniques for the communication manager 1115 to transmit dynamic or semi-dynamic indications of PTRS, which can be associated with less overhead than other methods by which the device 1105 can determine the PTRS resources on which to transmit PTRS.

[0154] The communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be implemented in hardware, in code (e.g., software or firmware) executed by a processor, or any combination thereof. If implemented in code executed by a processor, the functions of the communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be performed by a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP), an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof designed to perform the functions described in the present disclosure.

[0155] The communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents can be physically located at various locations, including being distributed so that parts of the functions are implemented by one or more physical components at different physical locations. In some examples, according to various aspects of the present disclosure, the communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents can be separate and distinct components. In some examples, according to various aspects of the present disclosure, the communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents can be combined with one or more other hardware components (including but not limited to input / output (I / O) components, transceivers, network servers, another computing device, one or more other components described in the present disclosure, or combinations thereof).

[0156] The transmitter 1120 may transmit signals generated by other components of the device 1105. In some examples, the transmitter 1120 may be co-located with the receiver 1110 in a transceiver module. For example, the transmitter 1120 may be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1415 are described. The transmitter 1120 may utilize a single antenna or a group of antennas.

[0157] Fig.12A block diagram 1200 of a device 1205 is shown in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The device 1205 may be an example of aspects of the device 1105 or UE 115 as described herein. The device 1205 may include a receiver 1210, a communication manager 1215, and a transmitter 1250. The device 1205 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).

[0158] The receiver 1210 may receive information such as packets, user data, or control information associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, and information related to a sidelink shared channel demodulation reference signal configuration scheme, etc.). The information may be communicated to other components of the device 1205. The receiver 1210 may be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1415 are described. The receiver 1210 may utilize a single antenna or a group of antennas.

[0159] The communication manager 1215 may be an example of aspects of the communication manager 1115 as described herein. The communication manager 1215 may include an SCI component 1220, a full frequency component 1225, a sidelink data transmission component 1230, a reference signal component 1235, a control signaling component 1240, and a relationship determination component 1245. The communication manager 1215 may be an example of aspects of the communication manager 1410 as described herein.

[0160] The SCI component 1220 may receive sidelink control information scheduling resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicating a demodulation reference signal pattern. The SCI component 1220 may send sidelink control information to the UE scheduling resources for sidelink data transmission across a set of tones and indicating a demodulation reference signal pattern, wherein for at least one symbol of the demodulation reference signal pattern, each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a demodulation reference signal.

[0161] The full frequency component 1225 may identify that each tone in the set of tones is configured to carry a demodulation reference signal for at least one symbol of a demodulation reference signal pattern.
