[0069] For the purposes of this embodiment, unless explicitly stated otherwise, the singular includes the plural and vice versa. The term "including" means "including but not limited to". Furthermore, approximate words such as "about (about), almost, substantially, approximatelyly" and similar words may be meant herein as, for example, "at," "near, nearly at," "within 3-5% of," "within acceptable manufacturing tolerances," or any logical combination thereof. Additionally, the terms "vertical" or "horizontal" are intended to further include "within 3-5%" in the vertical or horizontal direction, respectively. Furthermore, directional terms such as "top," "bottom," "left," "right," "above," and "below" are intended to relate to the equivalent directions depicted in the reference illustrations; to be understood from the context of the referenced object or element, such as from its usual location; or other such descriptions.
[0070] Reference Figure 1 According to certain aspects of the invention, a wire distribution box 100 is illustrated as changing from open to closed. Specifically, Figure 1 The diagram illustrates the progression of the cable distribution box 100 from being open at a first location 100a, to being open at a second location 100b, to being closed at a third location 100c.
[0071] The wire distribution box 100 includes a base plate 110, a proximal wall 120, a distal wall 130, a pair of latches 140 and 142, and a cover plate 150 extending from the proximal wall 120. The base plate 110 has four sides: a first side 112, a second side 114 opposite to the first side 112, a third side 116, and a fourth side 118 opposite to the third side 116. The proximal wall 120 extends from the first side 112 of the base plate 110. The distal wall 130 extends from the second side 114 of the base plate 110. The pair of latches 140 and 142 are formed on the third side 116 of the base plate 110.
[0072] The proximal wall 120 includes two ends 122 and 124 relative to each other along a longitudinal direction along the length of the proximal wall 120. The first end 122 of the proximal wall 120 includes a protrusion 126. Figure 3 The second end 124 of the proximal end wall 120 includes an aperture 128. In some embodiments, the protrusion 126 of the proximal end wall 120 is configured to engage a corresponding aperture 128 of a neighboring wire distribution box 100 via an interference fit or a snap-fit fit, such as... Figure 3 As shown in the figure. Alternatively or additionally, the aperture 128 of the proximal end wall 120 is configured to engage a corresponding protrusion 126 of a neighboring wire distribution box 100 via an interference fit or a snap fit.
[0073] Similarly, in some embodiments, the distal wall 130 includes two ends 132 and 134 opposite each other in a longitudinal direction along the length of the distal wall 130. In some such embodiments, the length of the distal wall 130 is the same as the length of the proximal wall 120. The first end 132 of the distal wall 130 includes a protrusion 136. The second end 134 of the distal wall 130 includes an aperture 138. In some embodiments, the protrusion 136 of the distal wall 130 is configured to engage with a corresponding aperture 138 of a neighboring wire distribution box 100 via an interference fit or a snap-fit fit, such as... Figure 3 As shown in the figure. Alternatively or additionally, the aperture 138 of the distal wall 130 is configured to engage a corresponding protrusion 136 of a nearby wire distribution box 100 via an interference fit or a snap fit.
[0074] Latches 140 and 142 are each configured to secure the wire distribution box 100 to a chassis 400. Figure 4AThe latch 140 includes a first arm 144 attached to a third side 116 of the base plate 110. The latch 140 also includes a second arm 146 hingedly coupled to the first arm 144, such that the second arm 146 is actuated to open and close the latch 140 to disengage from the cable distribution box 100 from the chassis 400 and to couple the cable distribution box 100 to the chassis 400. In this example, when the latch 140 is closed, the first arm 144 and the second arm 146 form a through hole 148. Thus, Figure 1 The diagram also illustrates the progression of latches 140 and 142 from being open in a first position 140a and 142a, to being open in a second position 140b and 142b, to being closed in a third position 140c and 142c. Figure 1 As shown, latch 142 is a mirror image of latch 140 and therefore opens in the direction opposite to latch 140. In other examples, latch 142 may be identical to latch 140 and therefore open in the same direction as latch 140.
[0075] Reference Figure 2 According to certain aspects of the invention, a wire distribution box 100 is illustrated from open to closed, and has a wire assembly 200 wound in the wire distribution box 100. Similar to... Figure 1 , Figure 2 The diagram illustrates the progression of the cable distribution box 100 from being open at a first location 100a, to being open at a second location 100b, and finally being closed at a third location 100c. Figure 2 The cable distribution box 100 in the middle is the same as or similar to Figure 1 The cable distribution box 100 shown in the image has the same reference symbols indicating the same components.
[0076] The cover plate 150 has a central portion 152 projecting toward the base plate 110, such that at least a portion of the wire assembly 200 is configured to be wound around the central portion 152. In this example, the central portion 152 of the cover plate 150 is generally circular and includes four fasteners 154a, 154b, 154c, and 154d formed along a periphery of the central portion 152. The fasteners 154a, 154b, 154c, and 154d are configured to hold the wound wire assembly 200 in place. The cover plate 150 also includes four corresponding fasteners 156a, 156b, 156c, and 156d formed on the underside of the central portion 152. The corresponding fasteners 156a, 156b, 156c, and 156d further assist in securing and / or protecting the wire assembly 200.
[0077] like Figure 2As shown in the progress, the cover plate 150 can be folded along a length of the proximal end wall 120 relative to the base plate 110 in a clamshell fashion to enclose the wound wire assembly 200 within the wire distribution box 100 (between the cover plate 150 and the base plate 110). The cover plate 150 may include a locking mechanism configured to engage the distal end wall 130 and secure the cover plate 150 to the base plate 110. In this example, the locking mechanism includes two protrusions 158a and 158b extending toward the base plate 110 and in the same direction as the projection of the central portion 152. The distal end wall 130 includes two recesses or apertures 160a and 160b configured to receive the two corresponding protrusions 158a and 158b. In some embodiments, actuating the protrusions 158a and 158b of the cover plate 150 allows engagement or disengagement of the cover plate 150 relative to the base plate 110.
[0078] In some implementations, some or all of the components of the wire distribution box 100 are molded from the same mold and are integral with each other. In this way, all critical components can be linked together and provided as a single part for the wire distribution box 100. This helps streamline supply chain workflows such as manufacturing, packaging, inventory management, assembly, and shipping.
[0079] In some embodiments, the cable distribution box 100 is a fiber optic distribution box, and the cable assembly 200 is a fiber optic assembly. In other embodiments, the cable distribution box 100 may be any distribution box that houses cables or cable assemblies for a computing or electronic system, such as... Figure 7 The example shown.
[0080] Reference Figure 3 The illustration depicts the connection of two wire distribution boxes 100 according to certain aspects of the invention. As described above, a protrusion 126 of the proximal wall 120 is configured to engage a corresponding aperture 128 of the adjacent wire distribution box 100. Similarly, a protrusion 136 of the distal wall 130 is configured to engage a corresponding aperture 138 of the adjacent wire distribution box 100. In this way, by coupling two or more wire distribution boxes 100 together, the ability to hold any wire assembly can be extended. In other words, a single wire assembly 300 may be too long or too large for a single wire distribution box 100, and the wire distribution boxes 100 can be joined together to extend the overall ability to hold the wire assembly 300.
[0081] Reference Figure 4A According to certain aspects of the invention, three wire distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f are arranged in a first positioning group within a chassis 400. (Displayed in...) Figure 4A The various cable distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f in the system are... Figures 1 to 3The wire distribution boxes 100 shown are the same or similar, with the same reference symbols indicating the same components. Wire assembly 200d is partially wound within wire distribution box 100d. Wire assembly 200e is partially wound within wire distribution box 100e. Wire assembly 200f is partially wound within wire distribution box 100f.
[0082] The chassis 400 has a length L, a width W, and a height H. The length L and width W define a principal plane of the chassis 400. The height H defines a Z-direction perpendicular to the principal plane. In some embodiments, the principal plane coincides with the base plate 410 of the chassis 400. A pair of rods 420 and 422 extend from the base plate 410 in the Z-direction and are parallel to each other.
[0083] As described above, the latches 140 and 142 of each wire distribution box 100d, 100e, and 100f are... Figure 1 The cable distribution boxes are configured to securely fasten to the chassis 400. Specifically, in this example, cable distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f are each secured to the pair of levers 420 and 422. In some embodiments, the distance between the pair of levers 420 and 422 is the same as the distance between the pair of latches of cable distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f (in the through-holes 148 corresponding to each latch). Figure 1 (Measurement between)
[0084] Because the rods 420 and 422 are coupled to the chassis 400 and extend in the Z direction, when fastened to the rods 420 and 422, the wire distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f are stacked on top of each other in the Z direction. This facilitates the replacement or maintenance of one wire assembly without interfering with the remaining wire assemblies.
[0085] For example, to maintain the cable assembly 200e partially wound within the cable distribution box 100e, first pull the cable assembly 200e out from its connection point, leaving the remaining cable assemblies 200d and 200f connected. The latches 140 and 142 of the cable distribution box 100e actuated to an open position. Figure 4B As shown, the cable distribution box 100e can be removed from the chassis 400 in the Y direction without interfering with the cable assemblies 200d and 200f that are individually wound inside the cable distribution boxes 100d and 100f.
[0086] Reference Figure 5 The illustration depicts, according to certain aspects of the invention, three wire distribution boxes 100g, 100h, and 100i arranged in a second positioning group within a chassis 400. (Shown in...) Figure 5The various cable distribution boxes in the series are 100g, 100h, and 100i. Figures 1 to 3 The wire distribution box 100 shown is the same as or similar to the wire distribution box 100, wherein the same reference symbols indicate the same components. Wire assembly 200g is partially wound inside wire distribution box 100g. Wire assembly 200h is partially wound inside wire distribution box 100h. Wire assembly 200i is partially wound inside wire distribution box 100i.
[0087] In this example, two rods 510 and 520 are coupled to the chassis 400 and extend in a direction parallel to the main plane, i.e., along the length L of the chassis 400. Cable distribution boxes 100g, 100h, and 100i can be fastened to the chassis 400 via the two rods 510 and 520 in a manner similar to that described for cable distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f with respect to Figure 4. The first rod 510 is positioned directly above the second rod 520 in the Z direction. Thus, when fastened to the two rods 510 and 520, the proximal end walls 120 of each cable distribution box 100g, 100h, and 100i ( Figure 1 ) or distal wall 130 ( Figure 1 It is placed directly on the base plate 410 of the chassis 400. For example... Figure 5 As shown, when fastened to the two rods 510 and 520, the near-end wall 120 of the wire distribution box 100g ( Figure 1 It is placed directly on the base plate 410 of the chassis 400.
[0088] The replacement or maintenance of one of the cable assemblies is therefore easy and does not interfere with the remaining cable assemblies. For example, in order to keep cable assembly 200h partially wound inside cable distribution box 100h, cable assembly 200h is first pulled out from its connection, while keeping the remaining cable assemblies 200g and 200i connected accordingly. To remove cable distribution box 100h from chassis 400, latches 140 or 142 closer to substrate 410 ( Figure 1 The wire distribution box 100h can be rotated upward while the remaining latches 142 or 140 are still locked to the first latch 510.
[0089] After the wire distribution box 100h is rotated upward, the remaining latches 142 or 140 are unlocked from the first rod 510 to an open position. Therefore, the wire distribution box 100h can be removed from the chassis 400 in the Z direction without interfering with the individual sections wound around the wire assemblies 200g and 200i within the wire distribution boxes 100g and 100i.
[0090] Reference Figure 6 According to certain aspects of the invention, the wire distribution box 100 is positioned in a third location within the chassis 400. Figure 6 The third bit shown is similar to Figure 5 The second orientation shown is not limited to a 0-degree vertical placement of the wire distribution box 100 between its proximal end wall 120 and the base plate 410 of the chassis 400. Instead, the wire distribution box 100 can be assembled at any angle based on design requirements, such as optimal wire routing.
[0091] In this example, three rods 610, 620, and 630 are coupled to the chassis 400 and extend in a direction parallel to the main plane and along the length L of the chassis 400. The cable distribution box 100 can be connected via rods 610 and 620, in a similar manner to... Figure 4A The described wire distribution boxes 100d, 100e, and 100f are fixed to the chassis 400. When fixed to the pairs of rods 610 and 620, the proximal wall 120 or distal wall 130 of the wire distribution box 100 is configured to rest against the third rod 630. Figure 6 As shown, the proximal wall 120 of the wire distribution box 100 rests against the third member 630. In other words, the third member 630 helps maintain the angle of the wire distribution box 100 relative to the base plate 410 of the chassis 400. In some embodiments, Figure 6 The third positioning ratio shown Figure 5 The second positioning shown provides a larger bending radius for the wire, thus preventing damage to the wire assembly 200.
[0092] Reference Figure 7 The illustration depicts the installation of a cable distribution box 100 in a system 700 according to certain aspects of the invention. A cable assembly 200 is partially wound within the cable distribution box 100. After the cable distribution box 100 is installed within a chassis 400, one end 210 of the cable assembly 200 can be connected to the front input / output connector 710 of the system 700, and the other end 220 of the cable assembly 200 can be connected to the motherboard 720 of the system 700 via a corresponding connector 730. In this way, the cable assembly 200 is a separate structure, protected by the cable distribution box 100, and is not affected by other cable assemblies that may also be placed within the system 700.
