Therefore, hospitals are interested in methods to reduce their CAUTI rates by adhering to strict aseptic techniques as part of their standards of care. However, many factors influence a hospital’s ability to meet these standards. These factors include: the training and experience of healthcare practitioners, patient factors (e.g., general health condition, weight, and anatomy), environmental factors, and the characteristics of the catheter insertion kit, including the kit’s components, the various layouts of the components within the kit, and the instructions for use of such kits. Healthcare requires a simple, safe, and reliable standard method for inserting catheters into patients. This article discloses catheter insertion kits (including urinary catheter insertion kits) with integrated instructions for use that address the aforementioned issues, and methods thereof. [0007] This document discloses a catheter insertion kit, which in some embodiments includes a work tray, a storage tray, a catheter (by way of a non-limiting example, a fluid drainage catheter, such as a urinary catheter), and a drainage system (which includes tubing and a receptor). The work tray is configured to nest with the storage tray by suspending the work tray from the storage tray. According to some embodiments, the work tray is secured to the storage tray to at least substantially prevent them from separating. At least the work tray includes several preformed sections configured to hold several components of the catheter insertion kit. At least one of the preformed sections of the work tray includes a catheter section configured to hold the catheter. The storage tray is configured to hold the drainage system.

1. A catheter insertion kit, comprising: An upper tray, which is fixed to a lower tray, the upper tray comprising: Pre-formed catheter segments configured to accommodate catheter assemblies; and An incision is made through the end portion of the catheter segment; The drainage system of the catheter assembly, disposed in the lower tray, includes a drainage tube and a drainage reservoir, the drainage tube passing through the incision in the catheter segment of the upper tray and connecting to the catheter; and A partition wall is located on at least a portion of the catheter assembly.
2. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the partition wall is located between the at least portion of the catheter assembly and one or more components of the catheter insertion kit.
3. The catheter insertion kit of claim 2, wherein the upper tray is nested on top of the lower tray by inserting a folded longitudinal edge or tab of the lower tray into a gap between the longitudinal side of the upper tray and the overhang, the gap including a protrusion configured to engage the folded longitudinal edge or tab of the lower tray and secure the upper tray and the lower tray together.
4. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the lower tray includes a second incision located at an end of the lower tray, the second incision being designed to facilitate access to the drainage system in the lower tray while working from the upper tray.
5. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the incision in the catheter segment is configured to remove the drainage tube from the lower tray without disconnecting the drainage tube from the catheter.
6. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the upper tray includes a drainage tube restriction portion configured to hold a portion of the drainage tube and maintain the initial placement of the catheter in the upper tray until ready for use of the catheter.
7. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises a connector including a urine sampling port configured to connect the catheter to the drainage tubing, wherein the connector is pre-connected to the catheter in the catheter insertion kit.
8. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises a lubricant container, the lubricant container comprising lubricant for the catheter, wherein the upper tray includes a pre-formed lubricant container section configured to hold the lubricant container.
9. The catheter insertion kit of claim 8, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises an inflator container including an inflator for inflating a balloon of the catheter, wherein the upper tray includes a pre-formed inflator container section configured to hold the inflator container.

The catheter insertion kit of claim 9, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises a genital preparation kit, the genital preparation kit comprising a disinfectant kit and one or more swabs, wherein the upper tray comprises a pre-formed genital preparation section configured with a well and one or more angled channels, the well for holding disinfectant from the kit, and the one or more angled channels for holding the one or more swabs and their corresponding one or more absorbent tips in the well.

The catheter insertion kit of claim 10, wherein the well is sized to be commensurate with the total volume of disinfectant from the kit plus the volume of the one or more absorbent heads, such that when disinfectant from the kit is dispensed into the well, the one or more absorbent heads become saturated with the disinfectant.
12. The catheter insertion kit of claim 9, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises a urine sampling container, wherein the upper tray includes a pre-formed urine sampling container section configured to hold the urine sampling container.
13. The catheter insertion kit of claim 9, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises a urine sampling container, wherein the lower tray is designed to hold the urine sampling container.
14. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, further comprising step-by-step catheter insertion instructions printed on the upper tray.
15. The catheter insertion kit of claim 14, further comprising instructions printed on the upper tray without separating the upper tray from the lower tray.
16. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the lower tray comprises cardboard.
17. The catheter insertion kit of claim 16, wherein the cardboard includes a longitudinal edge configured to securely engage with the upper tray.
18. The catheter insertion kit of claim 1, wherein the partition wall includes a protective cardboard configured to protect components of the catheter insertion kit.
19. The catheter insertion kit of claim 18, further comprising an outer package encapsulating the upper tray, the lower tray, and the components of the catheter insertion kit.
20. The catheter insertion kit of claim 19, wherein the catheter insertion kit further comprises an external care kit located between the protective cardboard of the catheter insertion kit and the outer packaging.

A catheter insertion kit, comprising: Storage trays; A work tray, nested on top of the storage tray, the work tray comprising: A pre-formed section configured to receive components of the catheter insertion kit, the pre-formed section including a catheter section; and An incision is formed in the catheter segment between the bottom and end portions of the catheter segment; Protective cardboard, configured to protect components of the catheter insertion kit; and The component of the catheter insertion kit, the component comprising: Urinary catheter assembly, the urinary catheter assembly comprising: A urinary catheter, which is arranged in the catheter section of the work tray; and A drainage system, arranged in the storage tray, includes a drainage tube and a drainage container, the drainage tube being connected to the urinary catheter through the incision in the catheter section of the working tray.
22. The catheter insertion kit of claim 21, wherein the working tray includes an edge surrounding the periphery of the working tray, the edge being configured to hold the protective cardboard.
23. The catheter insertion kit of claim 21, wherein the working tray is nested on top of the storage tray by inserting a folded longitudinal edge or tab of the storage tray into a gap between a longitudinal side of the working tray and a cantilever, the gap including a protrusion configured to engage the folded longitudinal edge or tab of the storage tray and secure the working tray and the storage tray together.
24. The catheter insertion kit of claim 21, wherein the storage tray includes a cut in an end of the storage tray, the cut being designed to facilitate access to the drainage system in the storage tray while working from the work tray.
25. The catheter insertion kit of claim 21, wherein the incision in the catheter segment is designed to remove the drainage tube from the storage tray without disconnecting the drainage tube from the catheter.
26. The catheter insertion kit of claim 21, wherein the work tray includes a drainage tube restraint configured to hold a portion of the drainage tube and maintain the initial placement of the catheter in the work tray until ready for use of the catheter.

The catheter insertion kit of claim 21, wherein the component of the catheter insertion kit further includes a connector including a urine sampling port configured to connect the catheter to the drainage tubing, wherein the connector is pre-connected to the catheter in the catheter insertion kit.
