Abstract
Description
Background Art
[0001] The present invention relates to a method and a cord organizer for organizing cords between a tire building creel and an extruder.
[0002] WO 2018 / 182410 A1 discloses a creel that holds a plurality of creel bobbins, each storing a length of cord. The creel bobbins feed their cords via guide tubes located at the top and bottom of the creel to multiple sets of collector rollers that deflect the cords toward a central cord collector. The cord collector collects all the cords from the various creel bobbins and distributes the collected cords in a mutually parallel orientation in the cord plane toward an extruder head, where the cords are embedded in an elastomeric material to form a cord-reinforced tire component. Summary of the invention
[0003] As tire designs feature wider and wider tires, cord-reinforced tire components have also become wider to accommodate the increasing number of reinforcing cords.
[0004] A disadvantage of the collecting roller, the cord collector and the extruder head disclosed in WO 2018 / 182410 A1 and of the extruder head is that each feature is a channel, groove or hole for receiving an individual cord and therefore each cord has to be picked up manually from the creel and has to be guided individually and carefully along a path dedicated to the respective cord so as not to misplace or cross any cord.
[0005] As the number of cords originating from the creel increases, the time required to manually prepare the cords for taping increases significantly and slows down any tire building process downstream of the extruder.
[0006] The object of the present invention is to provide a method and a cord organizer for organizing cords between a tire building creel and an extruder, wherein the amount of manual labor required to prepare the cords for fitting can be reduced.
[0007] According to a first aspect, the invention provides a method for organizing a cord between a tire building creel and an extruder, wherein the method comprises the following steps:
[0008] - A cord embedding station is set between the tire building creel and the extruder to prepare the cords for insertion into the extruder;
[0009] - Collecting the cord groups in a plurality of cord collectors at the tire building creel; and
[0010] - Transferring said plurality of cord collectors with the cord groups collected therein from the tire building creel towards the cord embedding station.
[0011] The cords can be collected in a decentralized manner using a cord collector and can be transferred in groups to a cord embedding station. This significantly reduces the labor intensity compared to collecting and transferring the cords individually from the tire building creel to the extruder according to the prior art.
[0012] In a preferred embodiment, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0013] - Accommodating a plurality of cord collectors in the collector frame. When said cord collectors are received in the collector frame, the cords can be conveniently kept in groups in the cord collectors. Thus, the cords can be prepared in a more organized manner, compared to the individual preparation of the cords according to the prior art, so as to be distributed parallel to each other in a common cord plane towards the cord embedding station and / or the extruder.
[0014] Preferably, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0015] - preparing the cords in a cord embedding station for insertion into the extruder parallel to each other in a common cord plane; and
[0016] - stacking at least two cord collectors of the plurality of cord collectors in a collector frame in a stacking direction perpendicular to the cord plane; and / or
[0017] - juxtaposing at least two of the plurality of cord collectors in a collector frame in a lateral direction parallel to the cord plane. By stacking and / or juxtaposing the cord collectors in a collector frame, a relatively large number of cord collectors can be accommodated in a single collector plane in order to feed all the cords collected therein from said collector plane to the cord embedding station.
[0018] In another embodiment, each of the plurality of cord collectors comprises a collector body and a plurality of collecting channels extending through the collector body in a collecting direction, wherein the method further comprises the steps of:
[0019] - For each of the plurality of cord collectors, each cord of the respective cord group is threaded through a different collecting channel of the plurality of collecting channels in a collecting direction. By threading each cord through a different collecting channel, the respective cords are ready for further distribution parallel to each other towards a cord embedding station and / or an extruder.
[0020] Preferably, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0021] - A first cord clamp is provided for holding a cord group threaded through a plurality of collecting channels of a first cord collector among the plurality of cord collectors in a collecting direction. In other words, the first cord clamp can prevent the cords collected in the first cord collector from sliding out of their corresponding collecting channels in a direction opposite to the collecting direction.
[0022] Preferably, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0023] - clamping the cord set with the first cord clamp in a clamping position at a side of the first cord collector facing downstream in the collecting direction. Thus, the first cord clamp can effectively clamp the free length of the cord protruding out of the collecting channel at the side of the clamping position and prevent the cord from slipping out of the collecting channel in the opposite direction by clamping the free length. In particular, the first cord clamp is designed to be larger than the collecting channel in cross section, so that once the first cord clamp is fixed on the cord set in the clamping position, it cannot pass through the collecting channel in the direction opposite to the collecting direction.
[0024] Most preferably, the first cord collector is freely movable relative to the first cord clamp along the cords in the cord set upstream of said clamping position relative to the collecting direction. Thus, the first cord collector can be spaced apart from the first cord clamp to expose a length of the cord set therebetween which can be manipulated, for example for the purpose of guiding the cords through an extruder insert.
[0025] In another embodiment, the first cord clamp is disposed separately from the first cord collector, wherein the method further comprises the following steps:
[0026] - Manipulating the length of the cords in the cord set between the first cord collector and the first cord clamp by changing the relative position between the first cord collector and the first cord clamp. By arranging the first cord clamp separately from the first cord collector, the first cord clamp can have considerable freedom of movement. For example, the first cord clamp can be held in one hand and the first cord collector in the other hand to freely manipulate the length of the cord set therebetween relative to the tire building creel, the cord embedding station and / or multiple parts of the extruder.
[0027] In another embodiment, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0028] - Transferring the first cord clamp and the first cord collector together from the tire building creel towards the cord embedding station. Thus, the first cord clamp and the first cord collector can be transferred in a single action, thereby saving time.
[0029] In another embodiment, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0030] - Releasing the cord set from the first cord clamp at the cord embedding station. In this way, each cord of the cord set can be guided individually through the cord embedding station. The cords can be released one by one, for example by simply releasing the first cord clamp to allow manual removal of one of the cords and then clamping the remaining cords again. By releasing the cords one by one, tangling of the free ends of the cords can be prevented. Preferably, the length of the cord between the first cord clamp and the first cord collector is sufficient to prevent that a cord released from the first cord clamp also immediately slips out of the first cord collector.
[0031] In another embodiment, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0032] - Providing an additional cord clamp for each additional cord collector of the plurality of cord collectors. Thus, each group of cords can be clamped at their respective cord collector.
[0033] In another embodiment, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0034] - holding one or more extruder inserts in an insert holder relative to the plane of the cord at a cord embedding station; and
[0035] - Allowing the cord groups to extend in the collecting direction from a plurality of cord collectors through one or more extruder inserts at the insert holder. Thus, the cords can be prepared in one or more extruder inserts while they remain collected in their respective cord collectors.
[0036] Preferably, the method further comprises the following steps:
[0037] - transferring one or more extruder inserts having a cord set extending therethrough from a cord insertion station to an extruder; and
[0038] - Transferring multiple cord collectors in which multiple groups of cords are collected from the cord embedding station to the extruder. Thus, the cord collectors can be kept in place during preparation and / or extrusion to ensure that the cords are correctly fed into the extruder.
[0039] In another embodiment, multiple cord collectors are manually transferred from the tire building creel to the cord embedding station. Since each cord collector can collect and hold a cord group, the manual transfer of the cord collectors is significantly less labor-intensive than the individual transfer of cords according to the prior art.
[0040] According to a second aspect, the present invention provides a cord organizer for organizing cords between a tire forming creel and an extruder, wherein the cord organizer includes a cord embedding station positionable between the tire forming creel and the extruder for preparing the cords to be inserted into the extruder, wherein the cord organizer is also provided with a plurality of cord collectors which are separable from the cord embedding station for collecting cord groups at the tire forming creel and for transferring the cord groups collected in the plurality of cord collectors from the tire forming creel toward the cord embedding station.
[0041] The cord organizer can be used to perform the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the invention and therefore has the same technical advantages, which will not be repeated below.
[0042] In a preferred embodiment, the cord organizer comprises a collector frame for receiving a plurality of cord collectors at the cord embedding station.
[0043] More preferably, the collector frame is configured for stacking at least two of the plurality of cord collectors in a stacking direction perpendicular to the cord plane and / or for juxtaposing at least two of the plurality of cord collectors in a lateral direction parallel to the cord plane.
[0044] In a further embodiment, the collector frame is separable from the cord embedding station, wherein a plurality of cord collectors are received in the cord embedding station for transferring the collector frame to a collector section at the extruder. Thus, during preparation of the cord, the collector frame can be positioned at the cord embedding station, and the collector frame can then be transferred to the extruder to ensure that the cord is properly fed into the extruder during the extrusion process.
[0045] Preferably, the collector frame is provided with a handle. The handle allows manual detachment of the collector frame from the cord embedding station and manual transfer of said collector frame to the extruder.
[0046] In further embodiments, each of the plurality of cord collectors comprises a collector body and a plurality of collecting channels extending through the collector body in a collecting direction for threading each cord of a corresponding group through a different one of the plurality of collecting channels in the collecting direction.
[0047] Preferably, a plurality of collecting channels extend parallel to one another. Thus, the cord can be prepared for insertion into the extruder parallel to one another in the cord plane.
[0048] Additionally or alternatively, each of the plurality of collecting channels comprises a funnel section at a side of the collector body facing upstream relative to the collecting direction, and the funnel section tapers in the collecting direction. Even when the cord approaches the collecting channel inaccurately or in a misaligned manner, the funnel section can guide the cord into the corresponding collecting channel.
[0049] In another embodiment, for each collector body, the plurality of collecting channels comprises at least ten collecting channels, preferably at least twenty collecting channels. Thus, a large amount of cords can be collected in each cord collector, and the cord collectors together can supply even larger amounts of cords to the cord embedding station.
[0050] In another embodiment, a plurality of collecting channels are distributed on the collector body in a channel array having at least two rows and two columns. Thus, the cords can be spaced apart in the plane of the channel array so as to be fed to the cord embedding station and / or the extruder in a mutually parallel manner. In particular, the channel array extends perpendicularly to the collecting direction.
[0051] In another embodiment, the cord organizer further comprises a first cord clamp for holding a cord group that is passed through a plurality of collecting channels of a first cord collector among the plurality of cord collectors in a collecting direction. Specifically, the first cord clamp can effectively prevent the cords from sliding out of the plurality of collecting channels in a direction opposite to the collecting direction. The first cord clamp can be integrated with the first cord collector, in which case the first cord clamp adds a clamping function to the first cord collector. Alternatively, the first cord clamp can be provided separately from the first cord collector. It should be noted that the first cord clamp can be applied independently of the cord organizer, i.e., the first cord clamp can be the subject of a divisional application as a tool separate from the tire forming creel or the aforementioned cord organizer.
[0052] Additionally or alternatively, the first cord clamp comprises a handle. The handle allows manual transfer of the first cord clamp between the tire building creel and the cord embedding station.
[0053] In a further embodiment, the cord organizer comprises a further cord clamp for each further cord collector of the plurality of cord collectors.
[0054] In another embodiment, multiple cord collectors are identical. Thus, each cord collector can be used at any position in the tire building creel, cord embedding station and / or extruder.
[0055] In another embodiment, which may also be applied independently of the plurality of cord collectors, the cord embedding station further comprises one or more cord magnets for temporarily holding the cord in the cord plane, wherein the one or more cord magnets are movable between an active position at a first distance from the cord plane and an inactive position at a second distance from the cord plane greater than the first distance. In the active position, the one or more cord magnets may temporarily hold the cord to prevent displacement of the cord relative to the cord embedding station during preparation of said cord, in particular when said cord has been released from the above-mentioned cord clamp. In the inactive position, the one or more magnets are sufficiently spaced apart from the cord so as not to interfere with preparation, manipulation and / or feeding of the cord in the cord plane.
[0056] In another embodiment, the cord embedding station further comprises a clamp holder for temporarily holding the first cord clamp or the cord group associated with said first cord clamp. The first cord clamp can be temporarily "parked" while other operations are performed at the cord embedding station. In the case of multiple cord clamps, some cord clamps can be parked while other cord clamps remain in a position close to the cord plane to release the cord for preparation in the cord embedding station. In this way, the cord embedding platform can remain unaffected by the cord clamps or groups associated therewith that are not actively used in the process of organizing the cords.
[0057] In another embodiment, the cord embedding station comprises an insert holder for holding one or more extruder inserts relative to the cord plane and a collector holder for holding a collector frame for receiving a plurality of cord collectors relative to the insert holder. Thus, the cord collector can be held relative to the insert holder so as to extend the cords collected in the cord collector toward the extruder insert held in the insert holder.
[0058] In another embodiment, which may also be applied independently of multiple cord collectors, the cord organizer includes a cord fault detector for detecting faults in the cord between the tire building creel and the extruder. Irregularities in the cord, such as broken filaments, may roll up or peel against the extruder insert and may cause severe damage to the extruder insert when not detected at an early stage. The cord fault detector may provide early detection of such cord faults and stop the extrusion process before the cord fault causes severe damage to the extruder insert.
[0059] More preferably, the cord fault detector comprises a cord fault catcher having a plurality of catch channels and one or more catch sensors, the plurality of catch channels being used to thread each cord in the cord group through a different catch channel in the plurality of catch channels, the one or more catch sensors being used to detect the displacement of the cord fault catcher in the cord direction due to the faulty cord being stuck in one of the plurality of catch channels. The cord with broken filaments may not be able to pass through the catch channel and then begin to peel or roll up against the cord fault catcher, thereby applying a force to the cord fault catcher in the cord direction as the cord is further fed in the cord direction. The cord fault detector can be particularly used to detect the displacement of the cord fault catcher due to the force.
[0060] More preferably, the cord embedding station further comprises a catcher holder for holding the cord fault catcher, the catcher holder having a plurality of catch channels extending in a cord plane in-line with the cord direction. Since the cord fault catcher extends in the cord plane, the cord can be conveniently threaded through the corresponding catch channels during preparation of the cord in the cord plane.
[0061] Most preferably, the cord embedding station comprises an insert holder for holding one or more extruder inserts relative to the cord plane, wherein the cord fault catcher can be separated from the catcher holder in which the cord is threaded through the catch channel to transfer the cord fault catcher to the extruder together with the one or more extruder inserts. Once the cord fault catcher is placed in the extruder, the extrusion process can be started with the cord fault catcher in a position upstream of the extruder insert.
[0062] In another embodiment that can also be applied independently of multiple cord collectors, the cord organizer includes a guide roller having a roller axis extending in an axial direction and a plurality of circumferential grooves extending around the roller axis for receiving the cords, wherein the cord organizer is also provided with a retainer positionable in a retainer position, in which the retainer extends across the plurality of circumferential grooves in an axial direction. The retainer can prevent the cords from jumping out of their corresponding circumferential grooves once they are guided through the corresponding circumferential grooves. In other words, the retainer ensures that the cords remain in place in their corresponding circumferential grooves.
[0063] Preferably, the cord organizer comprises a guide frame for holding a guide roller and one or more retainer magnets for magnetically holding the retainer in the retainer position. Therefore, the retainer can be manually placed in the retainer position and manually removed from the retainer position without using a tool.
[0064] Additionally or alternatively, the guide roller has a radial plane coinciding with the roller axis, wherein, in the retainer position, the retainer has a retainer edge extending in the radial plane and a retainer surface extending only on one side of the radial plane. The retainer position can be selected so that the one side of the radial plane and / or the retainer surface are located downstream of the radial plane with respect to the feeding direction in which the cords are fed through the circumferential grooves. In this way, the retainer edge can effectively retain the cords in their respective circumferential grooves in a radial direction perpendicular to the roller axis, while the retainer surface is open relative to the circumferential grooves on the one side of the radial plane to prevent the cords from getting stuck or clamped between the guide roller and the retainer surface in the feeding direction. In other words, the retainer surface is not in a position where it converges towards the guide roller.
[0065] Preferably, the retainer surface extends perpendicularly to the radial plane. Thus, the retainer surface may be tangential to the guide roller at the radial plane.
[0066] In another embodiment, which can also be applied independently of multiple cord collectors, the cord embedding station is mobile. Thus, when the cord is ready to be inserted into the extruder, the cord embedding station can be moved to a position between the tire building creel and the extruder, and when the preparation is complete, the cord embedding station can then be moved away from said position. The cord embedding station can be placed on wheels, more specifically on casters, for example.
[0067] Preferably, the cord embedding station comprises a coupling member for coupling and / or aligning the cord embedding station with the tire building creel. In this way, the position of the cord embedding station can be associated with the position of the tire building creel. In particular, when the tire building creel moves, the cord embedding station can move together with the tire building creel, for example in a lateral direction perpendicular to the collecting direction and / or the cord direction.
[0068] The various aspects and features described and shown in this specification can be applied separately wherever possible. These individual aspects, in particular the aspects and features described in the attached claims, can become the subject of divisional patent applications. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0083] Figure 1 A tire component production line for manufacturing wire or cord reinforced tire components, such as breaker plies, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is shown. The tire components are used to manufacture green or uncured tires.
[0084] The tire component production line includes a tire building creel 1 for supplying wire or cord 9, an extruder 2 for embedding the cord 9 into an extrudate, in particular an elastomeric material or a rubber layer, and a cord organizer 3 located between the tire building creel 1 and the extruder 2 for organizing the cord 9.
[0085] like Fig.17 and 18 As shown, the tire building creel 1 comprises a first creel section 11 and a second creel section 12, each creel section holding its own set of creel bobbins B. Each creel bobbin B stores a length of cord 9. The creel sections 11, 12 are movable along the creel guide 10 to align alternately with the extruder 2 in the creel position, in a manner that will be described in more detail below. Figure 1 In the side view of FIG. 1 , only the first creel section 11 is shown.
[0086] like Figure 1 As shown, the extruder 2 comprises an extruder head 20 for receiving an extruder tool or extruder insert, in this example a die 21 and a cord guide 22. The die 21 has a die opening (not shown) defining the cross-sectional shape of the extrudate as it leaves the extruder 2. The cord guide 22 comprises a plurality of cord channels for feeding the cords 9 in a mutually parallel orientation in a common cord plane P into the die 21 where they are embedded in the extrudate.
[0087] like Figure 8As shown, the cord organizer 3 includes a cord embedding station 4, which can be positioned or positioned between the tire building creel 1 and the extruder 2. In this example, the cord embedding station 4 is freely positionable, movable or active relative to the tire building creel 1 and the extruder 2. Specifically, the cord embedding station 4 is arranged on a wheel 47 or is provided with a wheel 47, more particularly, a caster for rolling the cord embedding station 4 on the factory floor. The cord embedding station 4 is also provided with a coupling member 48 for coupling the cord embedding station 4 to one of the creel sections 11, 12 of the tire building creel 1. When coupled, the cord embedding station 4 is configured to move with or be dragged by the creel sections 11, 12 to which it is coupled. In this example, the coupling member 48 includes an alignment element 49, which is used to align with the complementary dragging element 19 of the corresponding creel sections 11, 12. In this example, the alignment element 49 is an alignment groove and the pulling element 19 is a pulling plate for insertion into the alignment groove.
[0088] like Fig.11 As shown in more detail in FIG. 1 , the cord embedding station 4 is arranged, adapted or configured for preparing the cord 9 for insertion into the extruder 2. More specifically, the cord embedding station 4 is configured for preparing the cord 9 for insertion into the extruder 2 parallel to each other in the cord direction X and / or in the cord plane P. For this purpose, the cord embedding station 4 has a cord embedding platform 40, which is preferably adjustable in height for supporting the cord 9 at an ergonomic height for manipulation of the cord 9 by a human operator.
[0089] The cord organizer 3 is also provided with a plurality of cord collectors 61, 62 for collecting groups G1, G2, ..., Gn of cords 9 at the tire building creel 1, such as Figure 2 The groups G1, G2, ..., Gn of the cords 9 collected in the cord collectors 61, 62 can then be transferred from the tire building creel 1 toward the cord embedding station 4, as shown. Figure 3 As shown, and / or transferred from the cord embedding station 4 to the extruder 2, as Figure 7 In this way, the groups G1, G2, ..., Gn of cords 9 can be collected in a decentralized manner, compared to collecting and routing the cords one by one to a single centralized cord collector according to the prior art.
[0090] The cord collectors 61, 62 can be individually and / or independently mounted to and detached from the tire building creel 1, the cord embedding station 4 and / or the extruder 2. In particular, the cord collectors 61, 62 are designed to be convenient to carry and / or manually transfer in terms of weight, size and / or ergonomics.
[0091] Fig. 9A first cord collector 61 of the plurality of cord collectors 61, 62 is shown in more detail. The first cord collector 61 is representative of the further cord collectors 62 of the plurality of cord collectors 61, 62. In practice, the cord collectors 61, 62 may be identical.
[0092] like Fig. 9 As shown, the first cord collector 61 includes a collector body 60 and a plurality of collecting channels 63 extending through the collector body 60 in a collecting direction C, for passing each cord 9 in the first group G1 of cords 9 through a different collecting channel 63 in the plurality of collecting channels 63 in the collecting direction C. In this example, the collecting channels 63 extend parallel to each other. In this example, the first cord collector 61 has twenty-eight collecting channels 63 distributed on or across the collector body 60 in a channel array of two rows M and fourteen columns N. However, it should be understood by those skilled in the art that any other number of collecting channels 63, rows M or columns N are within the scope of the present invention.
[0093] Each of the plurality of collecting channels 63 includes a funnel section 64 at a side of the collector body 60 facing upstream relative to the collecting direction C. The funnel section 64 tapers in the collecting direction C to facilitate easy insertion of the cords 9 even when the cords 9 are not accurately inserted or when they are misaligned during insertion.
[0094] like Fig.11 and 12 As shown, the cord embedding station 4 is provided with a collector holder 41 for holding or receiving cord collectors 61, 62. In this example, the cord organizer 3 is provided with a collector frame 5 for receiving the cord collectors 61, 62 in the collector holder 41 at the cord embedding station 4. The collector frame 5 can be mounted on the collector holder 41 at the cord embedding station 4 and can be separated from the collector holder 41.
[0095] like Fig.11As best shown, the collector frame 5 comprises a receiving body 50 with a receiving slot 51 for receiving the cord collectors 61, 62. The receiving body 50 and / or the receiving slot 51 are sized, shaped and / or configured for stacking four cord collectors 61, 62 of the plurality of cord collectors 61, 62 in a stacking direction Z perpendicular to the cord plane P and for juxtaposing four cord collectors 61, 62 of the plurality of cord collectors 61, 62 in a lateral direction Y parallel to the cord plane P. Thus, the cord collectors 61, 62 can be received in a collector matrix or collector array, in this example a collector array of 4x4 cord collectors 61, 62, which extends in a single collector plane K, so that all cords 9 collected therein can be fed from said collector plane K to or distributed within the cord embedding station 4.
[0096] The collector frame 5 also comprises a cover 52 for closing the receiving groove 51 and holding the cord collectors 61, 62 in said receiving groove 51. The cover 52 and / or the receiving body 50 are optionally provided with a handle 53 for manually transferring said collector frame 5 with the cord collectors 61, 62 held therein from the cord embedding station 4 to the extruder 2.
[0097] like Fig. 9 As shown, the cord organizer 3 may optionally be provided with a first cord clamp 71 for holding the group G1 of cords 9 threaded through the plurality of collecting channels 63 of the first cord collector 61 in the collecting direction C. In other words, the first cord clamp 71 prevents the cords 9 from sliding out of the collecting channels 63 in the direction opposite to the collecting direction C.
[0098] In this example, the first cord clamp 71 is arranged separately from the first cord collector 61. In other words, the first cord clamp 71 and the first cord collector 61 are not interconnected or directly connected. Therefore, the first cord clamp 71 and the first cord collector 61 can be freely moved and / or positioned relative to each other. Specifically, the first cord clamp 71 and the first cord collector 61 can be spaced apart in the collection direction C, so that the length L of the cord 9 therebetween can be manipulated by moving one or both of the first cord clamp 71 and the first cord collector 61. Alternatively, the first cord clamp 71 may be connected to the first cord collector 61 or formed integrally with the first cord collector 61. For example, the first cord clamp 71 can be considered as a cord collector with an integrated clamping function. In this alternative scenario, a separate first cord collector 61 is not required.
[0099] like Fig.10As best shown, in this example, the first cord clamp 71 comprises a set of clamping plates 73, 74, 75, at least one of which is movable relative to the other clamping plates to clamp the cord 9 between each clamping plate 73-75, each clamping plate having a clamping hole 76. The first cord clamp 71 is positioned at a clamping position W on the downstream side of the first cord collector 61 relative to the collecting direction C. Preferably, the clamping holes 76 are equal in number to the collecting channel 63 and are aligned with the collecting channel 63 in the collecting direction C, so that the cord 9 can be easily threaded through both the collecting channel 63 and the clamping holes 76.
[0100] In this particular embodiment, the set of clamping plates 73-75 includes a first clamping plate 73, a second clamping plate 74 and a third clamping plate 75. The second clamping plate 74 is inserted or clamped between the first clamping plate 73 and the third clamping plate 75 and can move relative to the first clamping plate 73 and the third clamping plate 75 in a direction transverse to or perpendicular to the collecting direction C. In this example, as shown in FIG. Fig. 9 As shown, the first cord clamp 71 is provided with a clamping lever 77, which eccentrically supports the second clamping plate 74 relative to the lever axis 78. When the clamping lever 77 moves, the second clamping plate 74 moves relative to the other clamping plates 73, 75, and the clamping hole 76 of the second clamping plate 74 is not aligned with the clamping holes 76 of the other clamping plates 73, 75, thereby clamping and / or clamping the cord 9.
[0101] Those skilled in the art will appreciate that various other clamping schemes are contemplated, including but not limited to jaws, magnets, or the like.
[0102] like Fig. 9 As shown, in this example, the first cord clamp 71 is provided with a handle 79 to enable manual transfer of the first cord clamp 71 from the tire building creel 1 towards the cord embedding station 4 .
[0103] like Figure 2 , the cord organizer 3 comprises a further cord clamp 72 for each further cord collector 62 of the plurality of cord collectors 61, 62. The further cord clamp 72 is identical to the first cord clamp 71 described above.
[0104] like Fig.11 and 12 As shown, the cord embedding station 4 is also provided with a catcher holder 42 for holding the cord fault detector 8 during preparation for the cord 9 to be inserted into the extruder 2. The cord fault detector 8 is arranged to be placed in a fault detection position E upstream of the cord guide 22 in the extruder 2, as shown in FIG. Fig.14 As shown, it is used to detect a fault F in the cord 9 between the tire building creel 1 and the extruder 2.
[0105] like Fig.11 As best shown, the cord fault detector 8 includes a cord fault catcher 80 having a plurality of catch passages 83 for threading each cord 9 in the group G1, G2, ..., Gn of the cords 9 through a different catch passage 83 of the plurality of catch passages 83. In this example, the cord fault catcher 80 has a similar construction to the cord guide 22, such that it includes a catch body 81 that at least partially defines the catch passage 83 and a cover 82 for closing or completing the catch passage 83. Therefore, the cords 9 can pass through the catch passage 83 in the same or substantially the same manner as the cord passages through which they eventually pass through the cord guide 22. Therefore, any fault in the cord that would cause a problem at the cord guide 22 would have been captured by the cord fault catcher 80, thereby preventing damage to the cord guide 22.
[0106] like Fig.14 As shown, the cord fault detector 8 further includes one or more capture sensors 84, 85 at the capture section 25 for detecting the displacement of the cord fault capturer 80 in the cord direction X due to the fault F in the cord 9 being stuck in one of the capture channels 83. The cord fault capturer 80 can be held in place at the capture section 25 by a suitable capture retainer 86, such as a magnet or a spring. Once the force applied to the cord fault capturer 80 in the cord direction X due to the faulty cord 9 being stuck in one of the capture channels 83 exceeds the retaining force of the capture retainer 86, the cord fault capturer 80 can start its displacement in the cord direction X.
[0107] like Fig.11 and 12 As shown, the cord embedding station 4 further comprises an insert holder 43 for holding the mold 21 and the cord guide 22 relative to the cord plane P in a position downstream of the collector holder 41 and the catcher holder 42 in the cord direction X.
[0108] like Fig.11 As best shown in FIG. 4 , the cord embedding station 4 also comprises a clamp holder 44 which temporarily holds or parks one or more cord clamps 71, 72 or groups G1, G2, ..., Gn of cords 9 associated with said cord clamps 71, 72. In this way, the cord embedding platform 40 can remain unaffected by the cord clamps 71, 72 or groups G1, G2, ..., Gn associated therewith which are not actively used in the process of organizing the cords 9.
[0109] like Fig.12As shown, the cord embedding station 4 also includes a first cord magnet 45 and a second cord magnet 46 for temporarily holding the cord 9 in the cord plane P. The cord magnets 45, 46 are movable between an active position as shown in solid lines and an inactive position as shown in dotted lines, in which the cord magnets 45, 46 extend on the cord plane P, parallel to the cord plane P or at a first distance D1 from the cord plane P, and in which the cord magnets 45, 46 are at a second distance D2 from the cord plane P that is greater than the first distance D1.
[0110] In this example, if Figure 8 As shown, the cord organizer 3 further includes a plurality of guide rollers 31 for guiding the cord 9 from the tire building creel 1 toward the cord embedding station 4 and a guide frame 30 for holding the plurality of guide rollers 31. Fig.15 As shown, each guide roller 31 has a roller axis S extending in the axial direction A. Each guide roller 31 also includes a plurality of disks 32 arranged side by side in the axial direction A so as to be individually rotatable around the roller axis S. Each disk 32 defines a circumferential groove 33 extending around the roller axis S for receiving a corresponding one of the cords 9 around at least a portion of the circumference of the guide roller 31.
[0111] The cord organizer 3 is also provided with a retainer 34 which can be positioned at a retainer position T relative to a corresponding one of the guide rollers 31, as shown in FIG. Figure 8 and Fig. 9 The retainer 34 has a retainer body 35 which extends on or across a plurality of circumferential grooves 33 of the respective guide roller 31 in the axial direction A in the retainer position T. In this example, the retainer body 35 is shaped like a beam or a rod.
[0112] exist Figure 8 In the example shown, the organizer 3 is provided with retainer magnets 38, 39 for holding the retainer 34 in the retainer position T relative to the corresponding guide roller 31. In this particular embodiment, the retainer magnets 38, 39 are arranged on the guide frame 30 that holds the corresponding guide roller 31. More specifically, the guide frame 30 is provided with one retainer magnet 38, 39 on each side of the guide roller 31 in the axial direction A. The retainer body 35 includes a ferromagnetic material that can be magnetically attracted toward the retainer magnets 38, 39. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that other means for removably fastening, fixing, clamping or holding the retainer 34 in the retainer position T relative to the corresponding guide roller 31 can be provided, including but not limited to clamps, screws, bolts and the like.
[0113] like Fig.16As shown, the guide roller 31 has a radial plane R coinciding with the roller axis S. In the retainer position T, the retainer 34 has a retainer edge 36 extending in said radial plane R parallel to the axial direction A. The retaining body 35 further defines a retainer surface 37 extending only on one side of said radial plane R. In particular, the retainer surface 37 extends perpendicularly to the radial plane R.
[0114] like Fig.17 and 18 As shown, in this example, the first creel section 11 and the second creel section 12 are respectively provided with a first creel drive 13 and a second creel drive 14 for individually and / or independently moving the respective creel sections 11, 12 along the creel guide 10. The independently movable creel sections 11, 12 have a technical advantage over their mutually fixed counterparts, namely, without any mechanical interconnection, they can be moved apart for instantaneous or immediate maintenance, loading, unloading and / or reconfiguration without mechanically unlocking any mechanical interconnection.
[0115] The tire building creel 1 further comprises a spacer 15, in particular a spacer bar, which is attached to the second creel section 12 and protrudes towards the first creel section 11 to keep the second creel section 12 physically spaced apart from the first creel section 11 by a minimum distance H1. This can avoid dangerous situations for operators working between the creel sections 11, 12 or damage to the creel sections 11, 12. The tire building creel 1 is also provided with a distance sensor 16, such as a laser, to measure the distance between the creel sections 11, 12. In this example, the distance sensor 16 is also provided on the second creel section 12. The creel drive 13, 14 and the distance sensor 16 are operatively, electronically and / or functionally connected to a control unit 18, which is configured to keep the distance between the creel sections 11, 12 detected by the distance sensor 16 below the maximum distance H2.
[0116] The control unit 18 may also be designed, programmed or arranged to control the creel drives 13 , 14 such that the creel segments 11 , 12 are kept at a constant or substantially constant distance between the minimum distance H1 and the maximum distance H2 .
[0117] In this example, the first creel section 11 is provided with an abutment 17 for physically receiving the distal end of the spacer 15 when the creel sections 11 , 12 are at a minimum distance H1 .
[0118] Fig.19 and 20 A set of first and second shafts 101, 102 are shown for mounting a pair of creel bobbins B to a Figure 1The creel sections 11 , 12 of the tire building creel 1 .
[0119] Each shaft 101, 102 comprises a shaft base 103 and a shaft body 104 supported by and / or extending from the shaft base 103. In this example, the shaft body 104 of the second shaft 102 is longer or offset in the axial direction to receive the corresponding creel bobbin B in a position alongside the creel bobbin B carried by the first shaft 101. Alternatively, the shaft bodies of all shafts 101, 102 may have the same length or may be identical in order to support all creel bobbins B in the same manner.
[0120] like Fig.19 As shown, each shaft 101, 102 is also provided with a shock absorber 105, which is used to absorb the impact or vibration generated in the axial direction due to the creel bobbin B being placed on or sliding on the shaft 101, 102 in the axial direction. Fig. 20 As best shown in FIG. 1 , the shock absorber 105 includes an absorber body 150 for contacting the creel bobbin B when the creel bobbin B is placed on the respective shaft 101 , 12, and a spring 151 arranged between the shock absorber body 150 and the shaft base 103 so as to at least partially absorb the shock, impact or kinetic energy of the creel bobbin B in the axial direction. The absorber body 150 is slidable within a limited range in the axial direction along the respective shaft 101 , 102. Preferably, the absorber body 150 is rotationally fixed to the respective shaft 101 , 102, but allows axial movement to absorb shock. In other words, the absorber body 150 is configured to rotate with the respective shaft 101 , 102.
[0121] In this example, if Fig. 20 As shown, the impact absorber 105 is also provided with one or more locking pins 161, 162, in this example two locking pins 161, 162, which are arranged in, at or on the shock absorber body 150 and are configured to engage and / or snap into corresponding locking holes 171, 172 in the creel bobbin B so as to rotationally fix the creel bobbin B to the impact absorber 105 and indirectly fix it to the corresponding shaft 101, 102 via the absorber body 150. When the locking pins 161, 162 and the corresponding locking holes are not aligned during the initial placement of the creel bobbin B on the corresponding shaft 101, 102, they can be pushed into the absorber body 150 or recessed into the absorber body 150 until the locking pins 161, 162 and the corresponding locking holes 171, 172 become aligned and the locking pins 161, 162 can automatically snap into the corresponding locking holes 171, 172.
[0122] Preferably, the locking pins 161, 162 are magnetic or provided with magnets to magnetically snap into the creel bobbin B and hold the creel bobbin B to the absorber body 150. Thus, the shafts 101, 102 can be arranged horizontally or substantially horizontally, while the magnetic attraction between the locking pins 161, 162 and the creel bobbin B prevents the creel bobbin B from sliding off the respective shafts 101, 102.
[0123] Now refer to Figure 1 -14 briefly describes the method of using the above-mentioned cord organizer 3 to organize the cord 9 between the tire molding creel 1 and the extruder 2.

Note that in this example, the cord 9 has been extended in the cord direction X through the collector frame 5 with the cord collectors 61, 62, the cord fault detector 8, the cord guide 22 and the die 21, while these components are held in place in their respective holders 41-43 on the cord embedding station 4. Alternatively, the collector frame 5 with the cord collectors 61, 62, the cord fault detector 8, the cord guide 22 and the die 21 can be transferred to the extruder 2 together with the cord 9.
[0130] Figure 7 and 14 A situation is shown in which the cord guide 22 and the die 21 have been transferred from the insert holder 43 to the extruder head 20. The cord fault detector 8 has been transferred from the catcher holder 42 to the catcher section 25, wherein the cord fault catcher 80 is positioned at the fault detection position E upstream of the extruder head 20 with respect to the cord direction X. The collector frame 5 receiving the cord collectors 61, 62 is transferred to the collector section 24. The extruder 2 is now ready for extruding the extrudate with the cord 9 embedded in the extrudate.
