Figure 2 is a side view showing a caliper brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 3 is an exploded perspective view showing a caliper brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view showing a caliper brake according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 5 is a perspective view showing a guide rod according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0041] See also Figures 1 to 5 , the caliper brake according to the present embodiment may include a pair of pads 10, a bracket 100, a guide rod 400, a caliper housing 200, an actuator 300, and a protective cover 500. The pads 10 may be configured to press the two side surfaces of the disc, which is configured to rotate with the wheel. In the bracket 100, the pair of pads 10 are supported to be movable forward or backward, and a guide hole 110 is formed. The guide rod 400 is inserted into and slidably coupled to the guide hole 110. The caliper housing 200 is coupled to the guide rod 400 to slide to the bracket 100. The actuator 300 is configured to provide a driving force to press the pair of pads 10. The protective cover 500 is configured to seal between the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 and the opening or end of the guide hole 110.

[0042] The disc rotates with the wheel, and at least a portion of one side of the outer circumference of the disc may be inserted or rotatably arranged inside a bracket 100 coupled to the vehicle body. The bracket 100 may be fixedly mounted to the vehicle body and support the pair of pads 10 so that the pair of pads 10 may move forward or backward. Figure 3 and Figure 4 , the bracket 100 may include a main beam 130, a pair of guide beams 135, and a protruding portion 140. The main beam 130 may have a knuckle hole 150 coupled to the vehicle body. The main beam 130 may be arranged in the form of a beam extending to be connected between the pair of knuckle holes 150. The pair of guide beams 135 may be provided at both sides of the main beam 130. The protruding portion 140 may protrude from each guide beam 135 toward the inside of the vehicle body.

[0043] The main beam 130 may be fixed to the vehicle body using a fastener such as, but not limited to, a mounting bolt fastened to the knuckle hole 150, and a sliding groove is formed on each of both sides of the main beam 130, and a protruding portion of each of the pads 10 inserted into the sliding groove may be formed in the guide beam 135. The protruding portion 140 may be formed at or in the inner end of the guide beam 135 to extend and protrude toward the inside of the vehicle body. When the protruding portion 140 extends and protrudes toward the inside of the vehicle body, a tilting phenomenon caused by a center of gravity shift during braking may be prevented, which will be described in detail below.

[0044] The guide hole 110 may be formed in the guide beam 135 along the axial direction of the disc to pass through the guide beam 135 and the protruding portion 140 of the bracket 100. A guide rod 400 (to be described below) may be slidably inserted into the guide hole 110, and due to the structure of the guide hole 110 and the guide rod 400, the caliper housing 200 may stably move linearly relative to the bracket 100.

[0045] The caliper housing 200 may further include a cylinder and an actuator 300. A pressing member such as a piston is provided in the cylinder of the caliper housing 200, the pressing member being configured to press at least one of the pads 10, and the actuator 300 configured to operate or move the pressing member may be supported by the caliper housing 200. The actuator 300 may include, for example but not limited to, one or more of a motor configured to provide a rotational driving force, a reduction gear unit configured to transmit the rotational driving force of the motor, and a pressing portion configured to convert the rotational driving force into a linear motion in response to the rotational driving force transmitted from the reduction gear unit to press the piston.

[0046] The caliper housing 200 may be coupled to the guide rod 400 or enable the guide rod 400 to slide relative to the bracket 100 , and the coupling hole 210 may be formed to be recessed in the caliper housing 200 in the axial direction of the disc or pass through the caliper housing 200 to be firmly coupled to the guide rod 400 .

[0047] The inner end portion of the guide rod 400 may be coupled to the caliper housing 200 to be slidably inserted into the guide hole 110. Alternatively, the bracket 100 and the caliper housing 200 may have a pair of guide holes 110 and a pair of guide rods 400 that are symmetrically disposed, respectively.

[0048] A fastening portion or a fixing portion (faster part) 420 may be provided or formed on an end portion of the guide rod 400 (e.g., an inner end portion of the guide rod 400 coupled to the caliper housing 200), and the fastening portion 420 may be directly coupled to a coupling hole 210 provided in the caliper housing 200. The fastening portion 420 and the coupling hole 210 may be spirally coupled so that the guide rod 400 and the caliper housing 200 may be securely coupled, but this is not required. To this end, a thread may be formed on an outer peripheral surface of the fastening portion 420 of the guide rod 400 and an inner peripheral surface of the coupling hole 210 of the caliper housing 200. Alternatively, the guide rod 400 and the caliper housing 200 may be coupled to each other by any coupling means (e.g., a press-fit coupling structure in which the fastening portion 420 is press-fitted into the coupling hole 210).

[0049] Meanwhile, the loads of the caliper housing 200 and the actuator 300 are supported by the contact area CA where the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 may be in direct contact with the inner wall of the guide hole 110 .

[0050] Generally, the actuator 300 is mounted on or in the caliper housing 200 inside the vehicle body. Therefore, the center of gravity of the caliper housing 200 and the actuator 300 is biased toward the inside of the vehicle body, and thus, a tilting phenomenon occurs in which the connection portion between the caliper housing 200 and the actuator 300 hangs downward from the actuator 300. Since the tilting phenomenon may reduce the structural stability of the brake system and affect the brake performance and product durability, it is necessary to suppress or prevent the tilting phenomenon.

[0051] Therefore, in the caliper brake according to the present embodiment, the contact area CA can be extended to the interior of the vehicle body so that the center of gravity of the connecting part between the caliper housing 200 and the actuator 300 is located in the contact area CA to stably support the caliper housing 200 and the actuator 300 and suppress or prevent tilting caused by the shift of the center of gravity.

[0052] Specifically, at least a portion of the contact area CA where the inner wall of the guide hole 110 contacts the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 may be formed or arranged to be located further inside the vehicle body than the inner end of the main beam 130. Therefore, since the center of gravity of the connection portion between the caliper housing 200 and the actuator 300 is located in the contact area CA, structural stability may be improved or achieved. To this end, as described above, the protruding portion 140 formed with the guide hole 110 may protrude from the inner end of the guide beam 135 and extend to the inside of the vehicle body.

[0053] Will refer to Figure 5 The guide rod 400 is described in more detail.

[0054] The guide rod 400 includes a rod body 410 which is inserted into the guide hole 110 and is configured to be slidable in the guide hole 110. The rod body 410 may be formed in a rod shape having a predetermined length. The fastening portion 420 is provided at or in an end portion of one side of the guide rod 400 to be inserted into the coupling hole 210 and fixedly coupled to the coupling hole 210. As described above, since a thread may be provided on the outer peripheral surface of the fastening portion 420, the fastening portion 420 may be threadedly coupled to the coupling hole 210. The stopper 430 formed to protrude outward from the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 (e.g., the outer peripheral surface of the fastening portion 420) may be provided to contact the outer surface of the outer peripheral portion of the caliper housing 200 where the coupling hole 210 is formed. The stopper 430 may be disposed on a portion outside the fastening portion 420 of the rod body 410 to contact the outer surface of the caliper housing 200 when the fastening portion 420 is threadedly connected to the connecting hole 210 of the caliper housing 200, thereby limiting the fastening stroke to prevent damage to components due to excessive tightening between the guide rod 400 and the connecting hole 210 and to improve assembly quality.

[0055] The coupling surface 435 may be provided on the outer peripheral surface of the stopper 430. At least a portion of the coupling surface 435 may have a flat surface to be coupled to a tool for rotating the guide rod 400. Also, the coupling surface 435 may be at different angles to the outer peripheral surface of the stopper 430. Since a tool (e.g., a wrench) for rotating the guide rod 400 may contact and be supported by the coupling surface 435, when the tool can rotate the guide rod 400, the coupling surface 435 may improve the assemblability of the guide rod 400 and may make maintenance easy. Additionally or alternatively, a tool fastening portion or structure 440 may be provided at or in the end of the other side of the guide rod 400, and a tool configured to rotate the guide rod 400 may be coupled to the tool fastening portion or structure 440.

[0056] Figure 6 is a perspective cross-sectional view showing a protective cover according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0057] Reference Figures 1 to 6 , the protective cover 500 may be provided between the guide rod 400 and the guide hole 110. The protective cover 500 may be configured to seal between the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 and the inner peripheral surface of the guide hole 110. For example, the protective cover 500 may be provided in a cylindrical shape having a hollow portion passing therethrough in the axial direction of the disk, and inserted between the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 and the inner opening of the guide hole 110 to seal the inner opening of the guide hole 110. Therefore, foreign matter or moisture may be prevented from entering or flowing in through the inner opening of the guide hole 110, and the lubricant filling the guide hole 110 may be prevented from leaking to the outside of the guide hole 110.

[0058] The protective cover 500 may be provided to surround or cover the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400, and be fastened to the guide hole 110 and supported in the guide hole 110. To this end, the guide hole 110 may include a protective cover coupling portion 120 recessed from the inner peripheral surface of the guide hole 110 in the circumferential direction. The protective cover coupling portion 120 is formed at a portion of the inner peripheral surface of the guide hole 110, and at least a portion of the protective cover 500 is inserted and installed at the portion. As an example, the protective cover coupling portion 120 may be provided so that the inner diameter of the inner opening side of the guide hole 110 into which the guide rod 400 is inserted is greater than the inner diameter of the inner peripheral surface of the guide hole 110. Therefore, during the installation process of the protective cover 500, first, the protective cover 500 may be installed to surround the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400, and then the guide rod 400 and the protective cover 500 may be inserted and installed in the guide hole 110.

[0059] The protective cover coupling portion 120 may further include a coupling groove 125 recessed from the inner side surface of the protective cover coupling portion 120 in the circumferential direction to more stably support the protective cover 500. In addition, the outer protrusion 510 protrudes from the outer peripheral surface of the protective cover 500 in the circumferential direction, and when at least a portion of the outer protrusion 510 of the protective cover 500 is inserted and fastened to the coupling groove 125 of the bracket 100, the protective cover 500 can be fastened to the guide hole 110 and supported in the guide hole 110.

[0060] The flange portion 520 may be configured to seal the inner opening of the protective cover coupling portion 120 and may be provided at or on the inner end of the protective cover 500. The flange portion 520 may be formed to protrude outward from the outer peripheral surface of the inner end of the protective cover 500 in the circumferential direction, and since the flange portion 520 may be in close contact with a portion around the inner opening of the protective cover coupling portion 120 on the outer surface of the bracket 100, entry or inflow of foreign matter may be more effectively suppressed or prevented.

[0061] The inner diameter of at least a portion of the inner circumferential surface of the protective cover 500 may be smaller than or equal to the inner diameter of the guide rod 400. Specifically, the inner diameters of the front end portion 530 and the rear end portion 540 of the protective cover 500 in the insertion direction of the guide rod 400 may be smaller than or equal to the diameter of the guide rod 400. Therefore, when the guide rod 400 passes through and is coupled to the front end portion 530 and the rear end portion 540, the shapes of the front end portion 530 and the rear end portion 540 are deformed so that the inner circumferential surfaces of the front end portion 530 and the rear end portion 540 can be in close contact with the outer circumferential surface of the guide rod 400 to prevent foreign matter from entering or flowing between the guide rod 400 and the protective cover 500.

[0062] Meanwhile, the inner diameter of the inner peripheral surface of the portion of the protective cover 500 located between the front end portion 530 and the rear end portion 540 may be greater than the outer diameter of the guide rod 400. Therefore, the lubricant injected into the guide hole 110 may be contained in the space formed between the inner peripheral surface of the protective cover 500 and the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400. When the lubricant is applied to the space between the inner peripheral surface of the protective cover 500 and the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400, the friction between the protective cover 500 and the guide rod 400 may be reduced, and the generation of noise or vibration may be suppressed during the sliding movement of the guide rod 400. In addition, damage to the protective cover 500 due to friction may be prevented.

[0063] The protective cover 500 includes one or more inner protrusions 550 protruding inwardly from the inner peripheral surface of the protective cover 500 in the circumferential direction. The inner protrusion 550 may be provided as a single protrusion 550 or a plurality of inner protrusions 550 on the inner peripheral surface of the protective cover 500. The inner diameter of the inner protrusion 550 may be less than or equal to the outer diameter of the guide rod 400, and greater than the inner diameter of each of the front end portion 530 and the rear end portion 540. Therefore, the inner protrusion 550 of the protective cover 500 contacts the outer surface of the guide rod 400 to prevent foreign matter from entering or flowing in, and allows the protective cover 500 to be easily mounted on the guide rod 400.

[0064] The stopper member 600 is configured to close and seal the outer opening of the guide hole 110 (e.g., the outer end of the guide hole 110). The stopper member 600 may include an insertion portion having an outer diameter equal to or greater than an inner diameter of the outer opening of the guide hole 110, so that the insertion portion of the stopper member 600 can be inserted into and seal the guide hole 110. Therefore, foreign matter or moisture can be prevented from entering or flowing in through the outer opening of the guide hole 110, and the lubricant filling the inner space of the guide hole 110 can be prevented from leaking to the outside of the guide hole 110. As described above, the inner opening or end of the guide hole 110 can be sealed by the protective cover 500, and the outer opening or end of the guide hole 110 can be sealed by the stopper member 600 to prevent the reduction of durability due to the inflow or entry of foreign matter or the leakage of lubricant, and to achieve operational stability.

[0065] Figure 7 : is a front view showing the caliper brake according to the embodiment of the present disclosure in a state where a tool fastening portion for coupling or detaching a guide rod is exposed to the outside of the caliper brake.

[0066] Hereinafter, a method of manufacturing or assembling the caliper brake according to the present embodiment will be described. First, a method of mounting the caliper brake according to the present embodiment will be described.

[0067] A bracket 100 installed to allow a pair of backing plates 10 to move forward or backward is fixed to a vehicle (eg, a vehicle body) so that a portion of an outer peripheral surface of the disc is rotatably positioned between the pair of backing plates 10 .

[0068] When the bracket 100 is fixed to the vehicle, the end of the other side of the guide rod 400 provided with the fastening portion 420 is inserted into the end of one side of the guide hole 110 of the bracket 100. When the guide rod 400 is inserted into the guide hole 110, the caliper housing 200 is positioned so that the fastening portion 420 of the guide rod 400 faces the coupling hole 210 of the caliper housing 200. When the caliper housing 200 is positioned so that the fastening portion 420 faces the coupling hole 210 of the caliper housing 200, the finger portion of the caliper housing 200 is arranged outside the outer pad 10, and the cylinder of the caliper housing 200 is arranged outside the inner pad 10.

[0069] When the caliper housing 200 is positioned, the fastening portion 420 is directly inserted into or coupled to the coupling hole 210 of the caliper housing 200. The fastening portion 420 may be threadedly coupled to the coupling hole 210, and to this end, the guide rod 400 may be rotated to couple the threads of the outer peripheral surface of the fastening portion 420 and the threads of the inner peripheral surface of the coupling hole 210. The tool fastening portion 440 may be used to couple the fastening portion 420 to the coupling hole 210. To this end, first, a tool is installed using an outer opening of the guide hole 110 formed to pass through the bracket 100. Since the guide hole 110 is formed to pass through the bracket 100, the tool fastening portion 440 provided on the end of the guide rod 400 is exposed to the outside of the bracket 100 through the outer opening, which is the opposite side of the inner opening into which the guide rod 400 is inserted. In Figure 7 , the shape of the tool fastening portion 440 exposed to the outside of the bracket 100 as described above is shown.

[0070] The tool inserted through the outer opening is coupled to the tool fastening portion 440 of the guide rod 400. As an example, the tool fastening portion 440 has a slotted flat surface and may have a straight groove, and a flat head screwdriver may be inserted through the through hole to be coupled to the straight groove. Then, the inserted tool is rotated to screw the fastening portion 420 to the coupling hole 210. When the tool coupled to the tool fastening portion 440 rotates, the guide rod 400 also rotates with the tool fastening portion 440, and the threads of the outer peripheral surface of the fastening portion 420 may be coupled to the threads of the inner peripheral surface of the coupling hole 210 by the rotation of the guide rod 400. When the fastening portion 420 is coupled to the coupling hole 210, the operator may rotate the tool until the stopper 430 of the fastening portion 420 contacts the caliper housing 200 to generate a certain torque. After the fastening portion 420 is coupled to the coupling hole 210 , the stopper member 600 may be coupled to the through hole of the opened guide hole 110 to seal the outer opening, and thus foreign matter may be prevented from flowing into the guide hole 110 from the outside of the guide hole 110 .

[0071] Meanwhile, in the present embodiment, the coupling surface 435 may also be used to couple the fastening portion 420 to the coupling hole 210. To this end, a tool is coupled to the coupling surface 435 provided on at least a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the stopper 430 protruding outward from the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 so as to contact the surface of the caliper housing 200 formed with the coupling hole 210. The coupling surface 435 may be provided as at least one pair of flat surfaces facing each other. As described above, a tool such as a wrench may be coupled to the coupling surface 435 provided as at least one pair of flat surfaces facing each other.

[0072] Then, the coupled tool is rotated to screw the fastening portion 420 to the coupling hole 210. When the tool coupled to the coupling surface 435 is rotated, the guide rod 400 is also rotated together with the coupling surface 435, and the threads of the outer peripheral surface of the fastening portion 420 can be coupled to the threads of the inner peripheral surface of the coupling hole 210 by the rotation of the guide rod 400. The operator can rotate the tool until the stopper 430 of the fastening portion 420 contacts the surface of the caliper housing 200 to generate a certain torque when the fastening portion 420 is coupled to the coupling hole 210.

[0073] Hereinafter, a method of removing or disassembling the caliper brake for maintenance according to the present embodiment will be described.

In this case, in order to separate the fastening portion 420 from the coupling hole 210, the tool fastening portion 440 can be used as when the fastening portion 420 is coupled to the coupling hole 210. To this end, first, the stopper member 600 coupled to the outer opening formed to pass through the guide hole 110 of the bracket 100 is separated. When the stopper member 600 is separated to open the outer opening, the tool fastening portion 440 of the guide rod 400 inserted into the guide hole 110 is exposed to the outside.

[0076] After the stopper member 600 is separated or removed from the bracket 100, a tool is inserted through the outer opening of the guide hole 110. The tool inserted through the outer opening of the guide hole 110 is coupled to the tool fastening portion 440 of the guide rod 400, and rotated to separate or remove the fastening portion 420 threadedly coupled to the coupling hole 210 from the guide hole 110 of the bracket 100.

[0077] In addition, the coupling surface 435 can also be used to remove or separate the fastening portion 420 from the coupling hole 210. To this end, a tool is coupled to the coupling surface 435, which is provided on at least a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the stopper 430 protruding outward from the outer peripheral surface of the guide rod 400 so as to contact the surface of the caliper housing 200 formed with the coupling hole 210. As described above, the coupling surface 435 can be provided as at least one pair of flat surfaces facing each other, and the coupling surface 435 can be coupled to a tool such as a wrench. Then, the coupled tool is rotated to separate the fastening portion 420 threadedly coupled to the coupling hole 210.

[0078] In the caliper brake according to the present embodiment, the inclination phenomenon of the caliper housing can be prevented by fixing the contact surface between the guide rod and the guide hole.

[0079] According to the present embodiment, the structural stability and operational stability of the caliper brake can be improved.

[0080] According to the present embodiment, the assemblability and mountability of the caliper brake can be improved.

[0081] According to the present embodiment, the performance and operational reliability of the caliper brake can be improved.

[0082] According to the present embodiment, the caliper brake can be easily maintained.
