[0073] Figure 1 An isometric view of a package 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention is illustrated, which includes a sleeve 2 and a tray 3 received in the sleeve 2. The tray 3 is slidably received in the sleeve 2 so that the sleeve 2 can enclose the tray 3. Figure 1 As seen in FIG. 1 , the tray 3 can be slidably received in a first longitudinal direction as indicated by the arrow labeled “A”. The tray 3 also includes an interior space 4 configured to receive a delivery system ( Figure 1 not shown).
[0074] Figure 2 An isometric view of a sleeve 2 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Figure 2 As shown in FIG. 1 , the sleeve 2 is parallelepiped-shaped and comprises a bottom panel 5, a top panel 6 and a side panel 7, the side panel 7 standing upright from the bottom panel at an angle to the bottom panel. Figure 2 As seen in FIG, the side panels 7 extend perpendicularly to the bottom panel 5. Figure 2 As further seen in FIG. 1 , the sleeve 2 may include an opening 8 at either end of the package suitable for insertion and / or removal of the tray 3. It should be appreciated that a sleeve 2 having an opening 8 at only one end is considered to be within the scope of the present invention.
[0075] The sleeve 2 may include an end flap (not shown) at each opening 8 to enable the ends of the sleeve 2 to be opened and the tray 3 to be slid into and out of the sleeve 2 along the first direction "A". The end flap may also be foldable relative to the rest of the sleeve 2 to close the ends of the sleeve 2 when the tray 3 is received in the sleeve 2. Figure 2As seen in FIG. 1 , the sleeve 2 may include a pair of tabs 9 extending partially from the side wall 7 to the opening 8 , the pair of tabs 9 being configured to help retain the end tabs as they close the ends of the sleeve 2 .
[0076] Furthermore, the bottom panel 5 of the sleeve 2 comprises a pair of apertures 10 spaced apart from each other in the direction "A".
[0077] Figure 3 An isometric view of a tray 3 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Figure 3 As shown in , the tray 3 is parallelepiped-shaped and may include a bottom wall 11 and a side wall 12 upstanding from the bottom wall at an angle to the bottom wall to define a compartment for receiving and holding the delivery system therein. Figure 3 As seen in , the side walls 12 extend perpendicularly to the bottom wall 11. The tray 3 may also include an open upper end extending in a plane parallel to the bottom wall 11 and defined by the top of the side walls 12, which is suitable for inserting and / or removing the delivery system from the tray 3.
[0078] The bottom wall 11 of the tray 3 includes a pair of strips 13 spaced apart from each other in the direction marked "A" so that when the tray 3 is received in the sleeve 2, the strips 13 protrude through the aperture 10 of the sleeve 2. The strips 13 may be attached to the bottom wall 12 or formed integrally therewith.
[0079] Furthermore, the strip 13 comprises ends 14, both of which can be attached to the bottom wall 11, so that a loop is formed between the strip 13 and the bottom panel 5 of the sleeve 2. Figure 3 , the strip 13 may extend across the width of the pallet 3 in a second direction as indicated by the arrow labeled "B". The strip 13 may also extend across the bottom panel 5 of the sleeve 2 in the second direction labeled "B" such that the second direction "B" is perpendicular to the first direction "A". It should be appreciated that embodiments in which the ends 14 of the strip 13 are spaced apart from each other along the first direction "A" such that the strip 13 extends across the pallet 3 at an angle to the direction defined by the width of the pallet 3 are intended to be within the scope of the present invention.
[0080] exist Figure 3 In the embodiment shown, the strip 13 extends across the entire width of the pallet 3, but in alternative embodiments, the strip 13 may extend only a portion of the width of the pallet 3. In alternative embodiments (not shown in the figures), the strip 13 may be longer than the width of the pallet 3, and the ends 14 of the strip 13 may be attached to the side walls 12.
[0081] It should be appreciated that embodiments in which the strip 13 is attached to or integrally formed to other portions of the sleeve 2 (such as on the side wall 12 ) rather than the bottom wall 11 are intended to be within the scope of the present invention.
[0082] Figure 4 An isometric view of a tray 3 is shown, received in the sleeve 3 such that the strip 13 protrudes through the aperture 10. Figure 4 As shown in , the strip 13 and the aperture 10 are sized and positioned so that they are aligned with each other when the tray 3 is slid into the sleeve 2 .
[0083] In the configuration in which the strip 13 protrudes through the aperture 10, the interaction between the strip 13 and the aperture 10 prevents the tray 3 from being removed from the sleeve 2 in the direction marked "A".
[0084] Figure 4 Further illustrated is an insert 15, which is positioned against the outer surface of the bottom panel 5 and below the strip 13 so that the insert 15 is retained in the strip 13. The insert 15 may be one or more sheets of material suitable for inserting below the strip 13. The insert may be formed by multiple layers of a single sheet, that is, the layers may be formed by folding the sheet of material one or more times. The insert 15 may advantageously include an information leaflet so that the user needs to interact with the information leaflet before removing the delivery system. The information leaflet may be formed by any material and include any number of layers, but is advantageously formed by folding into multiple layers of paper so that the information of the leaflet is provided to the user in a lightweight and compact form. If the insert is a single sheet, it may be formed by a card. In a configuration in which the insert 15 is positioned against the outer surface of the bottom panel 5 and below the strip 13, the strip 13 is retained in a position where they protrude through the orifice 10.
[0085] As in Figure 4 As seen in the alternative embodiment shown in , the sleeve 2 may also include a flap 16 covering the bottom panel 5, which flap 16 may be formed integrally with the sleeve 2. Alternatively, the flap 16 may be a separate component that can be attached to the sleeve 2. Figure 4 In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 , the flap 16 is capable of being moved relative to the rest of the sleeve 2 in a closed position (not shown) and an open position ( Figure 4 ) in the closed position, the flap 16 covers the bottom panel 5 so that the insert 15 cannot be removed, and in the open position, the flap 16 does not cover the bottom panel 5 to enable the user to remove the insert 15.
[0086] The flap 16 may extend vertically from the side panel 7 such that the bottom panel 5 and the flap 16 form a secondary compartment adapted to receive the insert 15 .
[0087] The strip 13 may be made of a rigid material or may advantageously be made of a flexible material to allow easier insertion and / or removal of the insert 15 between the strip 13 and the bottom panel 5 .
[0088] Although the sleeve 2 is shown in the figures as a parallelepiped, it should be appreciated that other shapes are also considered within the scope of the invention, such as a trapezoidal shape or a shape in which the top and side panels of the sleeve form a continuous curved panel.
[0089] Although in the figures the tray 3 is parallelepiped-shaped, it will be appreciated that other shapes are also considered within the scope of the invention, such as a trapezoidal shape or a shape in which the top and side walls of the sleeve form a continuous curved wall.
[0090] Despite Figure 2 , Figure 3 and Figure 4 The central sleeve 2 includes a pair of apertures 10 and the tray 3 includes a pair of straps 13, but it should be appreciated that any number of apertures 10 and straps 13 are considered to be within the scope of the present invention.
[0091] In an alternative embodiment (not shown), a package 1 is provided which comprises a sleeve 2 and a tray 3 as in the previous embodiment, but the tray 3 does not comprise a strip 13, so that when the tray 3 is received in the sleeve 2, the bottom wall 11 of the tray 3 is visible through the aperture 10. In addition, the bottom wall 11 of the tray 3 is configured to be releasably connected to a sheet of material through the aperture 10, so that the connection between the bottom wall 11 and the sheet prevents the tray 3 from being removed from the sleeve 2 until the user separates the tray 3 from the sheet. As with the insert described with reference to the previous embodiment, the sheet may be a single sheet of material or multiple sheets. The sheet may be formed by multiple layers of a single sheet, i.e., the layers may be formed by folding the sheet of material one or more times. The sheet may be formed by paper or card.
[0092] The removable sheet of material is positioned against the bottom panel 5 of the sleeve 2. The sheet may advantageously comprise an information leaflet such that the user is required to interact with the information leaflet before removing the delivery system. The information leaflet may be formed from any material and comprise any number of layers, but is advantageously formed from paper folded into multiple layers such that the information of the leaflet is provided to the user in a lightweight and compact form.
[0093] This connection between the sheet and the bottom wall 11 of the tray can be achieved via an area of a releasable and preferably peelable adhesive applied to the bottom wall 11 of the tray 3 in an area visible through the orifice 10, wherein the adhesive is sufficiently strong to prevent movement of the tray 3 in direction "A", but the adhesive can still be overcome by the force of the user when removing the removable body from the packaging 1 to separate the removable body and the tray 3.
[0094] The adhesive may be applied in one continuous section (i.e., one strip) or in multiple sections spaced apart from one another along the area of the bottom wall 11 of the tray 3. In another embodiment, the adhesive may form a stronger bond with the removable sheet than with the tray 3, so that the adhesive remains adhered to the removable sheet when the removable body is removed from the tray 3. This may be achieved due to the type of material forming the tray 3 and the removable sheet. This advantageously results in no adhesive remaining on the tray 3 and allows the tray 3 to be more easily removed from the sleeve 2 in direction "A".
[0095] In this embodiment, the aperture 10 may be of any shape or size, but advantageously extends along at least half of the length of the bottom panel 5 to provide a greater surface area for the adhesive to attach the tray 3 and the removable sheet. There may also be more than one aperture 10, with each aperture 10 having a corresponding area of adhesive applied to the bottom wall 11 of the tray 3.
[0096] Alternatively, the connection between the tray 3 and the removable body may be another releasable connection, such as a hook and loop fastener or a weak magnetic connection.
[0097] In embodiments including a removable sheet, the sleeve 2 may further include a flap 16 covering the bottom panel 5, which flap 16 may be integrally formed with the sleeve 2. Alternatively, the flap 16 may be a separate component that can be attached to the sleeve 2. The flap 16 may be movable relative to the rest of the sleeve 2 in a closed position (not shown) and an open position (not shown). Figure 4 ) in the closed position, the flap 16 covers the bottom panel 5 so that the removable sheet cannot be removed, and in the open position, the flap 16 does not cover the bottom panel 5 so that the user can remove the removable sheet.
[0098] The assembly of the package 1 of the embodiment disclosed in the drawings will now be described, wherein the package 1 includes an end flap, and wherein the sleeve includes a flap 16 that can be folded between an open position and a closed position. The end flap is initially opened, and the delivery system is inserted into the tray 3 in the direction marked "A". Then, the tray 3 is slid into the sleeve 2 so that the sleeve 2 encloses the tray 3 and the end flap is closed. The tray 3 is then positioned so that the strip 13 protrudes through the aperture 10 of the sleeve, thereby preventing the tray from moving in the direction marked "A" and being removed from the sleeve 2. In order to position the insert 15 against the outer surface of the bottom panel 5 and below the strip 13, the flap 16 is first folded into its open position, and the insert 15 is inserted into the loop formed between the strip 13 and the bottom panel 5 so that the strip 13 is retained in the position where they protrude through the aperture 10. Finally, the flap 16 is folded into its closed position so that the insert 15 is covered.
[0099] The operation of the package 1 of the embodiment disclosed in the drawings will now be described, wherein the package 1 includes an end flap, and wherein the sleeve includes a flap 16 that can be folded between an open position and a closed position. First, the user must fold the flap 16 to the open position and remove the insert 15 from the loop formed between the strip 13 and the bottom panel 5. Then, the strip 13 can be pushed through the aperture 10 by the user so that the strip 13 no longer protrudes through the aperture 10. Only then can the tray 3 be removed from the sleeve 2 in the direction marked "A" so that the delivery system present therein can be approached by the user. Such many steps advantageously provide the difficulty of opening the package 1, and therefore prevent a certain young age interacting with the package 1 from interacting with the delivery system. In addition, the method requires removing the insert 15 before removing the delivery system, which may be advantageous when the insert includes knowledge important to the user (such as an information leaflet).
