Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a vehicle including a vehicle body and a ladder pivotally mounted to the vehicle body. Background Art
[0002] Heavier types of vehicles such as trucks and vans typically include a frame, a cab mounted to the frame, and a cargo bed mounted to the frame at a position rearward of the cab as seen in the forward direction of travel of the vehicle.
[0003] In addition, some of these types of vehicles include an air deflector device arranged between the cab and the cargo hold. The air deflector device generally includes a set of air deflectors configured to deflect air around the edge of the cargo hold during travel of the vehicle in the forward moving direction. In this way, the air resistance of the vehicle and wind noise can be reduced when the vehicle moves in the forward moving direction.
[0004] Technological developments have increased the number of systems and components installed in vehicles. For example, the current trend towards the electrification of vehicles has significantly increased this number. Electrified vehicles can be classified as pure electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles. Pure electric vehicles, sometimes referred to as battery electric vehicles, electric-only vehicles, and all-electric vehicles, include a pure electric powertrain and do not include an internal combustion engine, and therefore do not produce emissions where they are used.
[0005] A hybrid electric vehicle includes two or more different types of power, such as an internal combustion engine and an electric propulsion system. The combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric propulsion system provides advantages with respect to energy efficiency, in part because internal combustion engines are less efficient at lower power output levels. In addition, some hybrid electric vehicles are capable of operating in pure electric drive when required, such as when traveling in certain areas requiring low noise levels and / or low emission levels.
[0006] The electrical power is typically stored in a plurality of propulsion batteries that each include a plurality of rechargeable battery cells. A number of different types of battery cells are used, such as lithium-ion battery cells, lithium-polymer battery cells, and other types of rechargeable battery cells. A problem associated with at least partially electric vehicles is that the propulsion batteries take up a large amount of space, which can lead to packaging issues, particularly in heavier types of vehicles, which typically require a large number of battery cells to ensure that there is sufficient available operating range for the vehicle, system voltage, and power.
[0007] In some vehicles, it is desirable to enable a user to access certain vehicle portions and areas that are not normally used when driving the vehicle. An example of such an area is the space above the frame and behind the cab of heavier types of vehicles. For example, access to this type of space may be required when wanting to perform maintenance, repairs, and service on components of the vehicle.
[0008] Currently, the solution to allow users and maintenance personnel to access this space without the use of external equipment (such as portable ladders, stools, etc.) is to provide the vehicle with several steps on the side of the vehicle, which together form a small staircase, allowing users to walk up the stairs to the space behind the cab above the frame.
[0009] This type of solution usually limits the installation space for other types of components, systems and devices. For example, the stairs as described above can prevent the propulsion battery from being assembled to the frame at the location of the stairs. In addition, with this type of solution, it is difficult to obtain a user-friendly staircase that facilitates the user to reach the space above the frame in an ergonomic, convenient and safe manner without significantly reducing the installation space for other components, systems and devices on the vehicle. One of the reasons is that if some part of the stairs protrudes from the side of the vehicle, the protruding part may pose a danger to pedestrians and other road users. Therefore, in the current solution, the above-mentioned small stairs are similar to a ladder, and the user must at least basically climb up vertically to the space above the frame. In addition, even if no part of the stairs protrudes from the side of the vehicle, this type of solution may also pose a danger to pedestrians and other road users, such as when a collision occurs between a pedestrian / road user and the vehicle at an angle to the side of the vehicle where the stairs are located.
[0010] Currently, another solution to enable a user to access the space above the vehicle frame and behind the cab is to provide the vehicle with a ladder that is slidably arranged to the vehicle frame between the storage position and the use position. Compared with the above-mentioned fixed small stairs, this solution may have less negative impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices.
[0011] However, with this type of solution, it is difficult to obtain a user-friendly ladder that allows the user to reach the space above the frame in an ergonomic, convenient and safe manner. One reason for this is that, due to the sliding feature of the ladder, the ladder usually has to have a straight shape, which requires the user to climb at least substantially vertically when the ladder is in the use position.
[0012] Furthermore, with this type of solution, it may be difficult to obtain a safe ladder arrangement. That is, if the user forgets to slide the ladder back to the storage position before driving the vehicle, or if the ladder accidentally slides from the storage position to the use position during driving, the ladder will become a hazard to pedestrians and other road users. Furthermore, the ladder may also become a hazard to pedestrians and other road users when the ladder is in the storage position, for example, if a collision occurs between a pedestrian / road user and a vehicle at an angle to the side of the vehicle where the ladder is located.
[0013] Furthermore, generally, when designing a vehicle device, it is advantageous if the device is designed such that it can be used in a simple and intuitive manner.
[0014] Furthermore, it would be advantageous if the device could be made both robust and durable, and if the points of failure of the device could be minimized. Summary of the invention
[0015] It is an object of the present invention to overcome or at least alleviate at least some of the above mentioned problems and disadvantages.
[0016] According to one aspect of the invention, the object is achieved by a vehicle comprising a vehicle body, a ladder pivotally mounted to the vehicle body about a pivot axis between a storage position and a use position, a hinge arrangement, and a body panel movably attached to the vehicle body via the hinge arrangement between an open position and a closed position. The body panel and the ladder are arranged such that when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, the body panel covers the ladder as seen in a lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle.
[0017] Because the body panel covers the ladder as seen in a lateral direction of the vehicle toward the vehicle when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, no portion of the ladder protrudes further from the lateral side of the vehicle than the body panel when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position. Thus, due to these features, a safer solution is provided for a user to access a specific area or space of a vehicle without the need to use external equipment to access the area.
[0018] Furthermore, because the body panel covers the ladder as seen along the lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle, the body panel can act as a shield between the ladder and an object (e.g., a pedestrian or other type of road user) in the event of an impact between the object and the vehicle with the side of the vehicle. For example, such an impact may occur during a vehicle turn, resulting in an impact at an angle to the side of the vehicle, as well as a situation where the object impacts the vehicle at an angle to the side of the vehicle. Thus, also for this reason, a safer solution is provided for a user to access a specific area or space of the vehicle without the need to use external equipment to access the area.
[0019] Furthermore, since the body panel covers the ladder as seen in the lateral direction of the vehicle, the body panel can prevent the ladder from being accidentally moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panel is in the closed position. Thus, also for this reason, a safer solution is provided for a user to access a specific area or space of the vehicle without the need for the use of external equipment.
[0020] Furthermore, since the ladder is pivotally mounted to the vehicle body about a pivot axis between a storage position and a use position, the solution provides for no or at least minor impact on the installation space for other components, systems and devices on the vehicle.
[0021] Furthermore, since the ladder is pivotally mounted to the vehicle body about a pivot axis between a storage position and a use position, the vehicle is provided with a ladder having the provision for accessing a specific area or space of the vehicle in an intuitive, safe and convenient manner without the need to use external equipment to access the area.
[0022] Furthermore, since the ladder is pivotally mounted to the vehicle body about a pivot axis between a storage position and a use position, the solution is both strong and durable while allowing the user to access specific areas or spaces of the vehicle without the use of external equipment.
[0023] Hence, a vehicle is provided which overcomes or at least mitigates at least some of the above problems and disadvantages. Hence, the above objects are achieved.
[0024] The ladder according to the embodiments herein is configured to be used to access a specific area or space of the vehicle when in the use position, and is configured to be stored, i.e. not used to access a specific area or space of the vehicle when in the storage position. Examples of such a specific area or space may be the area or space above the vehicle frame and behind the vehicle cab.
[0025] When the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, the body panel covers the ladder as seen in a lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle, which feature means that when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, the body panel overlaps the ladder as seen in a lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle.
[0026] Optionally, the vehicle is a heavy road vehicle comprising a frame and a cab mounted to the frame, and wherein the ladder is pivotally mounted to the frame at a position rearward of the cab as seen relative to a forward direction of movement of the vehicle. Thus, according to these embodiments, the ladder of the vehicle can be used to access a space above the frame and rearward of the cab as seen relative to a forward direction of movement of the vehicle.
[0027] Optionally, the vehicle includes a frame, wherein the ladder is pivotally mounted to the vehicle body at a position above the frame on a lateral side of the vehicle. Therefore, at the longitudinal mounting position of the ladder on the vehicle, there is no impact or at least a small impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices to the frame. In other words, since the ladder is pivotally mounted to the vehicle body at a position above the frame on a lateral side of the vehicle, conditions are provided for mounting one or more other components, systems and devices to the frame at the longitudinal mounting position of the ladder on the vehicle. For example, such components may include propulsion batteries, fuel tanks, etc.
[0028] Optionally, the ladder is pivotally mounted to the vehicle body about only one pivot axis. Thus, provision is made for a robust and durable solution for providing a user with access to a specific area or space of a vehicle.
[0029] Alternatively, when in the storage position, the ladder may be arranged to extend from the frame in a direction towards the cab. The storage position may be a raised position.
[0030] Alternatively, in the use position, the ladder may be arranged to extend from the frame in a direction towards the ground adjacent to the vehicle including the ladder. The use position may be a lowered position.
[0031] Optionally, when the body panel is in the closed position, the body panel can be arranged to cover a space or gap of the vehicle as seen along the lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle. In addition, the body panel can be arranged to expose a space or gap of the vehicle when moved to the open position.
[0032] The above-mentioned space or gap may be, for example, the space or gap behind the cab as seen relative to the forward moving direction of the vehicle, the space or gap above the frame of the vehicle as seen relative to the vertical direction of the vehicle, and / or the space or gap between the cab and the cargo hold of the vehicle.
[0033] Furthermore, in the open position the body panel may be arranged to at least partially overlap / cover another body panel of the vehicle, a side of a cab of the vehicle and / or an air deflector of the vehicle as seen in a lateral direction towards the vehicle.
[0034] Optionally, the vehicle comprises an element configured to prevent the ladder from being moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panel is in the closed position. Thus, a safer solution is provided so that a user can access a specific area or space of the vehicle without the need for external equipment. This is because it can be ensured that the ladder cannot be accidentally pivoted from the storage position to the use position when the body panel is in the closed position. The feature that the element is configured to prevent the ladder from being moved from the storage position to the use position may mean that the element is configured to block the ladder from being moved from the storage position to the use position. The element may also be referred to as a blocking element.
[0035] Optionally, the element enables the ladder to be moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panel is in the open position. Thus, a more intuitive and user-friendly solution is provided for enabling a user to access a specific area or space of a vehicle. This is because the user can simply move the body panel from the closed position to the open position to unlock the ladder so that the ladder can be moved from the storage position to the use position. In other words, the need to arrange a manually operated locking device to secure the ladder in the storage position is further avoided.
[0036] Optionally, the element is operatively connected to the hinge arrangement. Thus, a simple, efficient and reliable solution is provided for preventing the ladder from being moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panels are in the closed position and / or for enabling the ladder to be moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panels are in the open position.
[0037] Optionally, the vehicle comprises a handle, and wherein the element is part of the handle. Thus, a simpler solution is provided for preventing the ladder from being moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panels are in the closed position, and / or for enabling the ladder to be moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panels are in the open position. This is because the handle can serve two purposes, namely forming a handle for the user when the user is using the ladder, and preventing the ladder from being moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panels are in the closed position.
[0038] Optionally, the vehicle includes a handle operably connected to the hinge arrangement such that when the body panel is moved to the open position, the handle is in the use position, and when the body panel is moved to the closed position, the handle is in the storage position. In this context, "in" may mean "brought to". Since the handle is operably connected to the hinge arrangement, it can be ensured that no part of the handle protrudes further from the lateral side of the vehicle than the body panel when the handle is in the storage position and the body panel is in the closed position. In this way, a safer vehicle can be provided while allowing a user to use the ladder and the handle to access a specific area or space of the vehicle when the body panel is in the open position and the ladder is in the use position.
[0039] Furthermore, as can be appreciated from the above, since the handle is operatively connected to the hinge arrangement, an automatic solution is provided in a simple manner, wherein the handle is brought to the use position when the body panel is moved to the open position, and the handle is brought to the storage position when the body panel is moved to the closed position. Thus, a more ergonomic and user-friendly solution is provided for a user to access a specific area or space of a vehicle.
[0040] According to embodiments herein, the handle is configured to form a support for a user's hand when in the use position, and is configured to be stored, ie not used to support a user's hand, when in the storage position.
[0041] According to embodiments herein, when the handle is in the use position, the handle may be arranged to protrude further from a lateral center plane of the vehicle than a surrounding lateral outer portion of the vehicle, as measured in a lateral direction of the vehicle. Furthermore, when the handle is in the storage position, the handle may be arranged to protrude no further from a lateral center plane of the vehicle than a surrounding lateral outer portion of the vehicle, as measured in a lateral direction of the vehicle. The surrounding lateral outer portion of the vehicle may, for example, include a lateral outer portion of an adjacent body panel, a side surface of a vehicle cab, etc.
[0042] Furthermore, when the handle is in the storage position, the handle may be arranged such that the handle is covered by a portion of the vehicle as seen along a lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle. According to some embodiments, the portion may be a portion of a body panel, i.e., when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, the portion of the body panel is configured to cover the ladder as seen along a lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle.
[0043] Optionally, the hinge arrangement comprises a set of hinge links, and wherein the handle is operatively connected to the body panel via at least one hinge link of the set of hinge links. Thus, a structurally simple solution is provided for moving the handle towards the use position when the body panel is moved towards the open position, and for moving the handle towards the storage position when the body panel is moved towards the closed position. Furthermore, due to the structural simplicity of the solution, it provides for a solution that is both strong and durable.
[0044] Optionally, when the ladder is in the use position, the ladder is configured to prevent the body panel from moving from the open position to the closed position. Thus, a safer vehicle is provided because the risk of a user forgetting to move the ladder from the use position to the storage position after using the ladder is significantly reduced. This is because the body panel may be a much larger structural component of the vehicle than the ladder, making it much less likely to forget to close the body panel than to forget to move the ladder to the storage position. The feature that the ladder is configured to prevent the body panel from moving from the open position to the closed position may mean that the ladder is configured to block the body panel from moving from the open position to the closed position.
[0045] In addition, according to some embodiments, the body panel is arranged behind the cab as seen relative to the forward movement direction of the vehicle. According to such embodiments, the driver of the vehicle can observe that the body panel is in the open position, such as when observing from the rearview mirror of the vehicle.
[0046] Optionally, the pivot axis is transverse to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle as well as to the lateral direction of the vehicle. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution, which provides conditions for no or at least a small impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle. This is because the pivot axis transverse to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle as well as to the lateral direction of the vehicle can cause a pivoting movement of the ladder, which has a movement vector component in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle as well as in the lateral direction of the vehicle.
[0047] Optionally, the angle between the pivot axis and the longitudinal direction of the vehicle is in the range of 15-75 degrees or in the range of 30-60 degrees. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution, which provides conditions with no influence or at least a small influence on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle. Furthermore, due to the angle between the pivot axis and the longitudinal direction of the vehicle being in the range of 15-75 degrees or in the range of 30-60 degrees, conditions are provided for such a solution, wherein when the ladder is in the use position, the extension direction of the steps of the ladder is substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and wherein when the ladder is in the storage position, the extension direction of the steps of the ladder is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution, which provides conditions with no influence or at least a small influence on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle.
[0048] Optionally, the vehicle has a lateral longitudinal plane, which includes the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and the lateral direction of the vehicle, and wherein the pivot axis is transverse to the lateral longitudinal plane of the vehicle. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution, which provides conditions for no or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle. This is because a more favorable movement path of the ladder can be obtained between the storage position and the use position.
[0049] Optionally, the vehicle has a lateral longitudinal plane, which includes the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and the lateral direction of the vehicle, and wherein the angle between the pivot axis and the lateral longitudinal plane of the vehicle is in the range of 1-45 degrees or in the range of 3-18 degrees. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution, which provides conditions with no or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle. This is because a more favorable movement path of the ladder can be obtained between the storage position and the use position.
[0050] Optionally, the pivot axis is angled relative to the vehicle body such that when the ladder is pivoted from the storage position, a component of the movement vector of at least a portion of the ladder is aligned with the reverse direction of movement of the vehicle. This means that when the ladder is pivoted to the storage position, a component of the movement vector of a portion of the ladder is aligned with the forward direction of movement of the vehicle. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution that provides no or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle.
[0051] Optionally, the pivot axis is angled relative to the vehicle body so that when the ladder is pivoted from the use position, a component of the movement vector of at least a portion of the ladder is aligned with the lateral direction of the vehicle. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution that provides no or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle. This is because one or more other components, systems and devices of the vehicle can be installed below the pivot axis of the ladder without affecting the movement path of the ladder.
[0052] Optionally, the maximum pivot angle of the ladder about the pivot axis between the storage position and the use position is in the range of 100-210 degrees or in the range of 135-195 degrees. Thus, conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution, which provides conditions for no or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle. This is because one or more other components, systems and devices of the vehicle can be installed below the pivot axis of the ladder without affecting the movement path of the ladder.
[0053] Optionally, the vehicle is a heavy road vehicle including a frame, and wherein the ladder is mounted to the vehicle at a position above the frame as seen in a vertical direction relative to the vehicle. Thus, at the longitudinal mounting position of the ladder, there is no impact or at least a small impact on the mounting space of other components, systems and devices to the frame. In other words, since the ladder is mounted to the vehicle at a position above the frame as seen in a vertical direction relative to the vehicle, conditions are provided for mounting one or more other components, systems and devices to the frame at the longitudinal mounting position of the ladder on the vehicle. For example, such components may include propulsion batteries, fuel tanks, etc.
[0054] Optionally, the vehicle is a heavy road vehicle comprising a frame, and wherein the ladder is configured to provide access to the space above the frame as seen in a vertical direction relative to the vehicle. Thus, a safer solution is provided that allows a user to access the space above the frame without having to use external equipment to access the space, while having no impact or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices on the vehicle.
[0055] Optionally, the vehicle is a heavy road vehicle comprising a frame and a cab mounted to the frame, and wherein the body panel is arranged rearwardly of the cab as seen relative to the forward direction of movement of the vehicle. Thus, the body panel can act as an air deflector for deflecting air around an edge of the cargo compartment of the vehicle when the vehicle moves in its forward direction of movement.
[0056] Furthermore, when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, the body panel covers the ladder as seen in the lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle, which feature means that when the body panel is in the closed position and the ladder is in the storage position, the ladder is arranged behind the body panel as seen in the lateral direction of the vehicle towards the vehicle. Therefore, in these embodiments, the ladder is also arranged behind the cab as seen relative to the forward movement direction of the vehicle. Therefore, a safer solution is provided that allows a user to access the space behind the cab without using external equipment to access the space, while having no impact or at least a small impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices on the vehicle.
[0057] Optionally, the hinge arrangement is configured such that when the body panel moves toward the open position, at least a first movement vector component of the body panel is aligned with the positive movement direction of the vehicle. Thus, the body panel has conditions for moving from the closed position toward the open position in a simple, intuitive and space-saving manner.
[0058] When the body panel moves toward the open position, at least a first movement vector component of the body panel is consistent with the forward movement direction of the vehicle, which means that when the body panel moves toward the open position, the body panel moves at least partially in the forward movement direction of the vehicle.
[0059] Optionally, the hinge device is configured so that when the body panel moves toward the open position, at least the second movement vector component of the body panel is consistent with the lateral direction of the vehicle. Thus, the body panel has conditions for moving from the closed position toward the open position in a simple, intuitive and space-saving manner. In addition, conditions are provided for accommodating another component (e.g. another body panel) located in front of the body panel as seen in the forward movement direction of the vehicle when the body panel is in the closed position.
[0060] When the body panel moves toward the open position, at least the second movement vector component of the body panel is consistent with the lateral direction of the vehicle, which means that when the body panel moves toward the open position, the body panel moves at least to some extent in the lateral direction of the vehicle.
[0061] Another result of these features is that a driver of the vehicle can more easily observe that the body panel is in the open position, such as when viewing in a rearview mirror of the vehicle.
[0062] Optionally, the body panel is an air deflector. Thus, a body panel is provided that can serve two purposes, namely covering the ladder as seen in the lateral direction of the vehicle when the body panel is in the closed position, and deflecting air e.g. at the edge of the cargo compartment of the vehicle during travel of the vehicle.

[0107] According to the embodiment shown, the vehicle 2 comprises an element 7 configured to prevent the ladder 4 from being moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panel 5 is in the closed position. Furthermore, according to the embodiment shown, the element 7 is operatively connected to the hinge device 6.
[0108] In more detail, according to the illustrated embodiment, the hinge device 6 includes a set of hinge links 6', 6". The set of hinge links 6', 6" includes two hinge links 6', 6" spaced apart along the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2. In addition, according to the illustrated embodiment, each hinge link 6', 6" in the set of hinge links 6', 6" is pivotally attached to the vehicle body 3 around a vehicle body pivot axis p6, p6', and is pivotally attached to the vehicle body panel 5 around a panel pivot axis p5, p5'.
[0109] According to the illustrated embodiment, each of the body pivot axes p6, p6' and the panel pivot axes p5, p5' is substantially parallel to the vertical direction vd of the vehicle 2. In this way, when the body panel 5 moves from the closed position toward the open position, a set of hinge links 6', 6" forms a type of parallelogram device, so that the body panel 5 moves at least partially in the lateral direction la' away from the vehicle center of the vehicle 2, and at least partially in the forward movement direction fd of the vehicle 2. It can be understood from the above that when the body panel 5 moves between the open position and the closed position, each hinge link 6', 6" in the set of hinge links 6', 6" rotates around its corresponding body pivot axis p6, p6'.
[0110] According to the illustrated embodiment, the handle 8 is operably connected to the body panel 5 by being connected to one hinge link 6' in a set of hinge links 6', 6". However, since each hinge link 6', 6" in a set of hinge links 6', 6" moves in unison with the body panel 5, the handle 8 can be said to be operably connected to the body panel 5 by being operably connected to each hinge link 6' in a set of hinge links 6', 6" of the hinge device 6.
[0111] According to the illustrated embodiment, the handle 8 is operably connected to the hinge device 6 so that when the body panel 5 is moved to the open position, the handle 8 is in the use position, and when the body panel 5 is moved to the closed position, the handle 8 is in the storage position. Figure 7 In the embodiment, since the body panel 5 is shown in the closed position, the handle 8 is shown in the storage position. The use position of the handle 8 is further explained below.
[0112] like Figure 7 As can be clearly seen in the drawing, according to the embodiment shown, the element 7 configured to prevent the ladder 4 from being moved from the storage position to the use position when the body panel 5 is in the closed position is part of the handle 8.
[0113] According to the illustrated embodiment, the portion of the handle 8 is configured to prevent the ladder 4 from moving from the storage position to the use position by obstructing a movement path of the ladder 4 from the storage position toward the use position when the handle 8 is in the storage position.
[0114] In other words, according to the illustrated embodiment, when the body panel 5 is in the closed position, the ladder 4 is prevented from moving from the storage position to the use position by abutting contact with the portion of the handle 8. Therefore, according to the illustrated embodiment, when the body panel 5 is in the closed position, the handle 8 locks the ladder 4 in the storage position.
[0115] exist Figure 5 and Figure 6 In the figures, the body panel 5 is shown in the open position and, as can be seen in these figures, the handle 8 has been brought into the use position. In other words, when the body panel 5 is moved from Figure 7 The closed position shown moves to Figure 5 and Figure 6 In the open position shown, the handle 8 is Figure 7 The storage location shown moves to Figure 5 and Figure 6 Since the handle 8 moves from the storage position to the use position when the body panel 5 moves from the closed position to the open position, the ladder 4 can freely move between the storage position and the use position when the body panel 5 is in the open position.
[0116] like Figure 7 as well as Figure 2 , Figure 5 and Figure 6 As indicated in , the vehicle 2 includes a handle 26 operably connected to the body panel 5. Figure 7 As best seen in the figure, according to the illustrated embodiment, the handle 26 is operably connected to the body panel 5 by being connected to one of a set of hinge links 6', 6". The handle 26 facilitates the process of moving / displacing the body panel 5 from the closed position to the open position, and facilitates the process of moving / displacing the body panel 5 from the open position to the closed position.
[0117] Furthermore, according to the illustrated embodiment, the ladder 4 is configured to prevent the vehicle body panel 5 from moving from the open position to the closed position when the ladder 4 is in the use position. Figure 5 As shown, the ladder 4 prevents the body panel 5 from moving to the closed position. According to the illustrated embodiment, the ladder 4 is configured to prevent the body panel 5 from moving from the open position to the closed position by preventing the handle 8 from moving from the use position to the storage position when the ladder is in the use position. According to the illustrated embodiment, the ladder is configured to prevent / impede the handle 8 from moving from the use position to the storage position by obstructing the travel path of the handle 8 from the use position toward the storage position.
[0118] like Figure 7 As best seen in the figure, according to the illustrated embodiment, the pivot axis Pa is transverse to the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2 and to the lateral direction la of the vehicle 2. Furthermore, according to the illustrated embodiment, the angle a1 between the pivot axis Pa and the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2 is approximately 47 degrees. According to further embodiments, the angle a1 between the pivot axis Pa and the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2 may be in the range of 15-75 degrees, or may be in the range of 30-60 degrees.
[0119] Figure 8 Shows Figure 2 A fourth enlarged perspective view of a portion of vehicle device 100 is shown. Figure 8 In the embodiment of the present invention, the ladder 4 has been shown to be positioned in the storage position and the use position. The vehicle device 100 according to the embodiment of the present invention includes only one ladder 4, and for illustrative purposes, the ladder 4 has been shown in Figure 8 Shown in the storage position and in the use position.

The lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2 is also indicated by a dotted line. Figure 1 , Figure 3 and Figure 4The lateral longitudinal plane Lp includes the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2 and the lateral directions la, la' of the vehicle 2. In other words, the lateral longitudinal plane Lp is parallel to the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2 and the lateral directions la, la' of the vehicle 2.
[0121] like Figure 8 As can be best seen in FIG. 1 , according to the embodiment shown, the pivot axis Pa is transverse to the lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2. In other words, according to the embodiment shown, the pivot axis Pa of the ladder 4 is not parallel to the lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2. Instead, the pivot axis Pa of the ladder 4 is arranged at an angle a2 relative to the lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2.
[0122] According to the illustrated embodiment, the angle a2 between the pivot axis Pa and the lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2 is approximately 13 degrees. According to further embodiments, the angle a2 between the pivot axis Pa and the lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2 may be in the range of 0-45 degrees, or may be in the range of 3-18 degrees. Furthermore, according to some embodiments, the angle a2 between the pivot axis Pa and the lateral longitudinal plane Lp of the vehicle 2 is in the range of 0-5 degrees.
[0123] Due to these features, an advantageous movement path of the ladder 4 can be arranged between the storage position and the use position and conditions are provided for a more space-saving solution which provides conditions for no or at least less impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle 2.
[0124] According to the illustrated embodiment, the maximum pivot angle of the ladder 4 between the storage position and the use position about the pivot axis Pa is approximately 157 degrees. According to other embodiments, the maximum pivot angle of the ladder 4 between the storage position and the use position about the pivot axis Pa may be in the range of 100-210 degrees, or may be in the range of 130-195 degrees.
[0125] In addition, if Figure 8 , the pivot axis Pa is angled relative to the vehicle body 3 such that when the ladder 4 is pivoted from the storage position, the movement vector component vc14 of at least the portion 14 of the ladder 4 is aligned with the reverse movement direction rd of the vehicle 2. In other words, according to the illustrated embodiment, the ladder 4 is configured such that when the ladder 4 is pivoted from the storage position, at least the portion 14 of the ladder 4 is at least partially moved in the reverse movement direction rd of the vehicle 2. Thus, according to the illustrated embodiment, when the ladder 4 is pivoted to the storage position, at least the portion 14 of the ladder 4 is at least partially moved in the forward movement direction fd of the vehicle 2.
[0126] like Figure 8As can be seen in FIG. 4 , the ladder 4 comprises two steps 24, 24', the extension direction de24 of each step being at least substantially parallel to the extension direction de24 of the other step 24, 24'. According to further embodiments, the ladder 4 may comprise another number of steps 24, 24'. Figure 8 As can be seen in the figure, the ladder 4 is constructed so that when the ladder 4 is in the storage position, the extension direction de24 of the steps 24, 24' of the ladder 4 is substantially parallel to the lateral directions la, la' of the vehicle 2. Due to these features, a more space-efficient solution is provided, which has the condition of no impact or at least a small impact on the installation space of other components, systems and devices of the vehicle 2.
[0127] In addition, if Figure 8 As can be seen in the figure, according to the embodiment shown, the ladder 4 is configured such that, when the ladder 4 is in the use position, the extension direction de24 of the steps 24, 24' of the ladder 4 is substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction ld of the vehicle 2. In this way, a user can use the ladder to access the space 9 above the frame 3' as seen relative to the vertical direction vd of the vehicle 2 in a user-friendly and convenient manner, as further explained herein.
[0128] As will be appreciated from the above, the user can thus enter the space 9 by, for example, opening the body panel 5 using the handle 26, and then pivoting / folding the ladder 4 from the storage position to the use position. When the ladder 4 is in the use position, the user can walk up the ladder 4 by placing one or both feet on the steps 24, 24' of the ladder 4. When walking up the ladder 4, the user can also place his hands on the handle 8, which allows for safer and more comfortable access to the space 9. Furthermore, as will be appreciated from the above, each step 24, 24' of the ladder 4 is configured to support the user's foot by providing a normal force to the foot in a direction perpendicular to the elongation direction de24 of the step 24, 24'.
[0129] like Figure 8 As indicated in , according to the illustrated embodiment, the pivot axis Pa is angled relative to the vehicle body 3 such that when the ladder 4 is pivoted from the use position, a movement vector component vc14′ of at least the portion 14 of the ladder 4 is aligned with a lateral direction la′ of the vehicle 2 away from the vehicle center of the vehicle 2. In other words, according to the illustrated embodiment, the ladder 4 is configured such that when the ladder 4 is pivoted from the use position, at least the portion 14 of the ladder 4 is at least partially moved along the lateral direction la′ of the vehicle 2 away from the vehicle center of the vehicle 2. Thus, according to the illustrated embodiment, when the ladder 4 is pivoted to the use position, at least the portion 14 of the ladder 4 is at least partially moved along the lateral direction la of the vehicle 2 toward the vehicle center of the vehicle 2.
[0130] Fig. 9 Shows Figure 2A rear view of a portion of the vehicle device 100 is shown. Fig. 9 In the figure, it is shown that Figure 1 , Figure 3 , Figure 4 , Figure 7 and Figure 8 The vehicle device 100 seen in the forward moving direction fd of the vehicle 2 indicated in FIG.

As mentioned, according to the embodiment shown, the vehicle 2 is a heavy road vehicle 2 including a frame 3 '. Fig. 9 As is clearly visible in the figures of the present disclosure, the pivot axis Pa of the ladder 4 is mounted to the vehicle 2 at a position above the frame 3' as seen relative to the vertical direction vd of the vehicle 2. Furthermore, as mentioned, according to the illustrated embodiment, the ladder 4 is mounted to the frame 3' via a support frame 30. Furthermore, the ladder 4 is configured so that a space 9 above the frame 3' as seen relative to the vertical direction vd of the vehicle 2 is accessible.
[0132] like Fig. 9 as well as Figure 8 As can be seen in the figure, when the body panel 5 is in the open position, and therefore when the handle 8 is in the use position, the handle 8 protrudes further from the vehicle 2 than the body panel 5, as seen in the lateral direction 1a' away from the vehicle 2. In this way, when a user wants to access the space 9 above the frame 3', the ladder 4 and the handle 8 can be used in a safer and more convenient manner.
[0133] In addition, if Fig. 9 as well as Figure 8 As can be seen in the figure, when the body panel 5 is in the open position, as seen in the lateral direction 1a' away from the vehicle 2, the handle 26 protrudes further from the vehicle 2 than the body panel 5. In this way, when the user wants to close the body panel 5, that is, when the user wants to move / displace the body panel 5 from the open position to the closed position, the handle 26 can be used in a more convenient way.
[0134] As indicated above, in Fig. 9 , the vehicle device 100 is shown as seen along the forward movement direction fd of the vehicle, ie as seen in a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 2. Fig. 9 As can be seen, according to the illustrated embodiment, when the ladder 4 is in the use position, the above reference Figure 8 The elongation direction of the explained steps 24, 24' is at least substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 2. Furthermore, as mentioned, the ladder 4 according to the illustrated embodiment comprises two steps 24, 24', hereinafter referred to as first step 24' and second step 24.
[0135] like Fig. 9 As can be seen in the figure, the ladder 4 is configured such that when the ladder 4 is in the use position, as seen along the vertical direction vd of the vehicle 2, the first step 24' is arranged below the second step 24. In addition, the ladder 4 is configured such that when the ladder 4 is in the use position, as seen along the lateral direction la' away from the center of the vehicle, the first step 24' is arranged farther from the center of the vehicle. In this way, a so-called stair effect can be obtained, so that the user can climb up the ladder 4 in a more ergonomic, safe and convenient way.
[0136] Furthermore, due to these features, and the fact that the ladder 4 is mounted to the vehicle 2 in a position above the frame 3' as seen with respect to the vertical direction vd of the vehicle 2, the solution provides conditions that have no or at least little impact on the installation space for other components, systems and devices on the vehicle 2. Examples of such installation spaces are Fig. 9 The reference number "28" has been set therein. Fig. 9 The mounting space 28 indicated in may, for example, be used to house one or more vehicle components, such as a propulsion battery, a fuel tank, etc. Such one or more vehicle components may be mounted to the space 28, for example by being attached to a frame 3' of the vehicle 2.
