[0004] Laptops and notebook computers are personal electronic devices that have become common in a variety of applications. For example, medical personnel may maintain charts and other data related to patient care. Medical professionals may carry a laptop into an examination room and place the laptop on a table, desk, countertop, or other supporting surface to enable the staff to use the laptop. In another example, journalists, engineers, lawyers, teachers, and other professionals may need to write numerous emails throughout the day.
[0005] A laptop or notebook computer typically includes a keyboard connected to a display screen by a hinge or other connection. The laptop or notebook computer also includes a central processing unit (CPU), memory, and one or more batteries for powering the computer. The keyboard enables the computer user to input data and commands to the CPU, while the display screen displays the data processed by the CPU. A mouse or other input device can be connected to the computer by wire or wirelessly.
[0006] In some applications, laptops or notebook computers can be used for a variety of different tasks, in which a table or other computer support may not be available. For example, some applications of laptops may require the computer operator to stand or walk when using the computer. In some cases, medical personnel may need to be close to the patient and use the laptop in a position where there may not be a suitable laptop support surface. Therefore, medical personnel may need to support the laptop with one hand while typing or entering data in the laptop with the other hand. Therefore, data entry errors and reduced efficiency may occur. People in other fields may also find that using a laptop is beneficial, but during use, may sometimes lack a suitable support surface for the laptop.
[0007] Therefore, there is a need to solve at least one of the above problems. For example, there remains a need for an easy-to-use and convenient solution that allows users to operate their portable electronic devices while standing or walking. Summary of the invention

[0055] The present invention is directed to a support assembly that is securable to the body of a user to hold or support a laptop computer in a functional position for the user.
[0056] First reference Figure 1-7 , shows a support assembly 100 according to a first exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Figure 1 and 7 As shown, the support assembly 100 may include a strap assembly 150. The support structure 102 may be attached to and supported by the strap assembly 150. Figure 7 As shown, the strap assembly 150 of the support assembly 100 may be suitably configured to be secured to the waist 198 and / or other area of the body of a user 196 of the laptop computer 184. Figure 5 and 7 As shown, the support structure 102 of the support assembly 100 may be configured to support the laptop computer 184 in a position where the laptop computer user 196 may easily access and manipulate or operate the laptop computer 184 while standing or walking.
[0057] In some embodiments, the strap assembly 150 may include a base 152, such as Figure 2At least one support strap 166 may extend from the base 152. Figure 7 , the support strap 166 may be suitably configured to be releasably fastened around the waist 198 of a laptop user 196. As an alternative or in addition to the waist strap 166, the support assembly 100 may include one or more shoulder straps 167 configured to secure the support device / support assembly 100 to the shoulder area of the user. For example, the present embodiment includes both a waist strap 166 and shoulder straps 167, and more specifically, includes a pair of shoulder straps 167 extending from the waist strap 166 at opposite sides of the base 152. At least one releasable belt fastener 168 may be disposed in the support strap 166. In some embodiments, the belt fastener 168 may include at least one buckle socket 170 and at least one buckle protrusion 172 that can be releasably inserted into the buckle socket 170 to removably secure the support strap assembly 150 to the user's body.
[0058] like Figure 1-4 As shown, in some embodiments, the base 152 of the fixing belt assembly 150 can be formed in an elongated shape along the left-right direction or the lateral direction y. In some embodiments, the base 152 can be generally flat or plate-shaped, having a rear surface 154, a front surface 156, a lower surface 158, an upper surface 160, and a pair of opposite ends 162. Support belts 166 can extend from the respective ends 162 of the base 152. In a preferred embodiment, the base 152 can be generally rigid.
[0059] For example Figure 2 As shown, the support structure 102 of the present embodiment is configured as a tray and may include a tray bottom wall or base 104 configured to support an electronic device. At least one flange 122 may extend upward (e.g., vertically / vertically upward) from the base 104. At least one side retainer 126 may engage one or both of the lateral sides (left and right) of the base 104. For example, the present embodiment includes a corresponding side retainer 126 on each of the left and right sides of the base 104. The side retainers 126 and the flanges 122 may be configured to respectively prevent the laptop 184 from sliding off in the lateral direction y, in the front-to-back direction or the longitudinal direction x, or in the combined direction of the longitudinal direction x and the lateral direction y, thereby retaining the laptop 184 on the base 104 of the support structure 102, in a manner that will be described below.
[0060] Continue to refer Figure 2 In some embodiments, the base 104 of the support structure 102 may be rectangular. The base 104 may have a pair of elongated, parallel, spaced-apart side edges 106. The rear edge 108 and the front edge 110 may extend between the side edges 106 in parallel, spaced-apart relationship with each other. The lower surface 112 ( Figure 4) and the upper surface 114 can extend from the side edge 106, the rear edge 108, and the front edge 110. In some embodiments, as shown, the flange 122 can extend from the upper surface 114 along the front edge 110.
[0061] The support structure 102 can be mounted on the base 152 of the fixed belt assembly 150. Preferably, the support structure 102 is movably mounted on the base 152 so that the spacing between the base 152 and the support structure 102 in the longitudinal direction x is adjustable, for example, to make the laptop 184 closer to or farther away from the user's body, to accommodate laptops 184 of different lengths, and / or to accommodate additional items (e.g., notepads, cups, etc.). In one non-limiting example, as Figure 2 As shown, at least one, more preferably at least two, support rails 176 may extend from the base 152 of the fixing belt assembly 150 in the longitudinal direction x. Each support rail 176 may have at least one track groove 178 that is elongated in the longitudinal direction. At least one, more preferably a pair of elongated rails 116 may extend from the lower surface 112 of the base 104 in the longitudinal direction x. Each rail 116 may extend generally from the rear edge 108 of the base 104 to the front edge 110, and extend parallel to the side edges 106 between the side edges 106 of the base 104. Each rail 116 may slidably engage the track groove 178 in each corresponding support rail 176 of the fixing belt assembly 150. As shown in FIG. Figure 3 and 4 As shown, the base 104 can be slidable on the support rail 176 along the longitudinal direction x toward and away from the base 152 to accommodate laptops 184 having different depths, which will be described below. The track groove 178 and the corresponding rail 116 can be configured so that they interlock with each other to allow them to move longitudinally relative to each other and prevent them from moving vertically relative to each other (i.e., movement along the vertical direction z); for example, the track groove 178 and the rail 116 can have a T-shape (as shown), an H-shape, a tongue-and-groove, or other interlocking geometry.
[0062] like Figure 2 and Figure 3 As shown, in some embodiments, the side retainers 126 can engage with the corresponding side edges 106 of the base 104. At least one, more preferably both, side retainers 126 can be moved relative to the base 104 in the lateral direction y, for example, to accommodate laptop computers 184 of different widths, and / or to accommodate additional items (e.g., notepads, cups, mouse pads, etc.). In some embodiments, at least one side retainer base rail 118 can extend from the lower surface 112 of the base 104. At least one rail groove 142 can be provided in each side retainer 126. As shown in FIG. Figure 3 and Figure 4As shown, each side retainer base rail 118 can be slidably engaged with each corresponding track groove 142 to facilitate selective adjustment of the position of each side retainer 126 relative to the corresponding side edge 106 of the base 104. The track groove 142 and the corresponding side retainer base rail 118 can be configured so that they interlock with each other to allow them to move laterally relative to each other and prevent them from moving vertically relative to each other; for example, the track groove 142 and the side retainer base rail 118 can have a T-shape (as shown), an H-shape, a tongue-and-groove, or other interlocking geometry.
[0063] In some embodiments, each side retainer 126 may include a retainer base 128. A flange 144 may extend upward (e.g., vertically / vertically upward) from the retainer base 128. The retainer base 128 may be generally elongated rectangular, having an elongated inner edge 130 and an elongated outer edge 132, the inner edge 130 and the outer edge 132 being disposed in a parallel, spaced relationship with each other. A rear edge 134 and a front edge 136 may extend between the inner edge 130 and the outer edge 132. The retainer base 128 may be generally flat or plate-shaped, and include a lower surface 138 and an upper surface 140 extending from the inner edge 130, the outer edge 132, the rear edge 134, and the front edge 136. The flange 144 may extend from the upper surface 140 along the outer edge 132 of the retainer base 128 of each corresponding side retainer 126. Each track groove 142 may extend into the upper surface 140 of the retainer base 128 of each corresponding side retainer 126 .
[0064] like Figure 5 and Figure 7 As shown, in a typical application of the support assembly 100, the support belt 166 and shoulder strap 167 of the fixed belt assembly 150 can be fastened around the waist 198 and shoulders of the laptop user 196, wherein the support structure 102 extends forward from the base 152 in front of the laptop user 196. This can be achieved, for example, but not limited to, by loosening the belt fastener 168 ( Figure 7 ); extending the support strap 166 and the shoulder strap 167 around the user's waist 198 and shoulders, respectively; and fastening the strap fastener 168. In some embodiments, the support strap 166 and / or the shoulder strap 167 may be adjustable in length. For example, the strap fastener 168 may include a strap adjustment mechanism (not shown) that helps adjust the tightness of the support strap 166.
[0065] refer to Figure 5, the laptop 184 can be placed on the upper surface 114 of the base 104. The rear edge of the laptop 184 can be spaced apart from or engaged with the flange 122 of the support structure 102. In some applications, the support structure 102 can initially be slid longitudinally on the support rails 176 away from the laptop user 196 to provide sufficient clearance and convenience for the placement of the laptop 184 on the base 104, or to achieve ergonomics and ease of use of the laptop 184. Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, if needed or desired, the side retainers 126 may initially be positioned in a direction away from the base 104 of the support structure 102 to facilitate placement of the laptop 184 on the base 104, after which the side retainers 126 may be slid toward and engage corresponding side edges of the laptop 184.
[0066] like Figure 7 As shown, the laptop user 196 can stand or walk while he or she operates the laptop 184. The support assembly 100 supports the laptop 184 and releases the hands of the laptop user 196, so that the laptop user 196 can freely operate the laptop 184 with both hands. Those skilled in the art will understand that when the laptop user 196 applies downward pressure on the keyboard and / or mouse of the laptop 184, the support structure 102 firmly supports the laptop 184 in a cantilever manner. In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. Figure 4 As shown, the rail 116 may extend to half or more than half of the total length of the base 104 (the dimension along the longitudinal direction x), and the support rail 176 may be sized to extend to half or more of the total length of the base 104 when the base 104 is moved closest to the base 152.
[0067] After use of the support assembly 100, the laptop 184 can be removed from the support structure 102. The support strap 166 can be loosened and the support strap 166 and shoulder straps 167 removed from the waist 198 and torso of the laptop user 196.
[0068] like Figure 5As shown, in some applications, at least one device holder 186 may be deployed on the support structure 102 of the support assembly 100 to hold at least one personal electronic device 194. The personal electronic device 194 may be a smart phone, a tablet computer, etc. In some embodiments, the device holder 186 may include a suction cup 188. An elongated multi-position holder gooseneck or arm 190 may extend from the suction cup 188. A device carrier 192 may be supported by the arm 190 of the holder. The device carrier 192 may be appropriately configured to hold and support at least one personal electronic device 194. The device holder 186 may be deployed by attaching the suction cup 188 to, for example, but not limited to, the flange 144 of one of the side retainers 126, or to any other suitable structural element of the support structure 102. In some applications, the device carrier 192 is sized and configured to receive and hold a book (not shown) in a position that enables a laptop user 196 to read the book.
[0069] Although the support assembly 100 is described as supporting a laptop computer 184, it should be noted that the support assembly 100 may alternatively or additionally be used to support other items. For example, during the use of the support assembly 100, one of the side retainers 126 may be pulled laterally outward, and its upper surface 140 may be used to move a mouse device along it. In some applications, a mouse pad may be placed on the upper surface 140; in various other embodiments, the upper surface 140 may be combined with a mouse pad or mouse compatible surface finish or material. In an alternative application, the support assembly 100 may be used to support a dinner plate (not shown) on the support structure 102. Food (not shown) may be placed on a plate and / or bowl (not shown) on the dinner plate. When the user 196 stands, he or she can eat the food from the plate or bowl. Other items that may be supported on the support assembly 100 and used with the support assembly 100 may include, for example, but not limited to, an electronic book, a tablet computer, a phone or other portable electronic device, a paper book, a notebook, a pen, a pencil or other writing instrument, etc., or a combination thereof.
[0070] Next reference Figure 8 An alternative illustrative embodiment of a support assembly is indicated by reference numeral 200. In support assembly 200, as previously described with reference to Figure 1-6 Similar elements of the support assembly 100 described above are similar to those in Figure 8 The support assembly 200 may include a strap assembly 250. In some embodiments, the strap assembly 250 may have the same features as previously described. Figure 1-7 The strap assembly 150 is of the same or similar design as described herein.

An extension or distal end of each shoulder strap 267 may terminate at the strap assembly 250. In an illustrative application of the support assembly 200, the strap assembly 250 may be secured around the waist of a laptop user 296 by a waist belt or support strap 266 that may extend from opposite sides of the base 252. The shoulder straps 267 may extend over respective shoulders of the laptop user 296. The laptop 284 may be placed in the support structure 202, wherein the support structure 202 is positioned across the back of the laptop user 296 and may be held in place by one or more brackets 276.
[0072] Steering Figure 9-14 , shows a support assembly 300 according to a third exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Fig.10 As shown, the support assembly 300 may include a fixing strap assembly 350. In some embodiments, the fixing strap assembly 350 may have the same Figure 1-7 The support structure 302 configured to support an electronic device may be attached to and carried by the strap assembly 350. Similar to the previous embodiment, the strap assembly 350 may be secured to the shoulders of the user via a set of shoulder straps 367; however, alternative embodiments are contemplated in which the strap assembly 350 may alternatively or additionally be secured to the user's waist and / or other areas of the user's body so that the user may wear the strap assembly 350 to carry the support structure 302 and the supported electronic device.
[0073] The support structure 302 of this embodiment includes a rear reaction member 304, which is configured to be positioned in the area of the user's back, such as Fig.10 and 11 304. The counterforce member 304 may be configured to rest on the user's back or against the user's back so that the counterforce member 304 can provide a reaction force to the weight of the electronic device, which helps to maintain the electronic device in a suitable position when the electronic device is supported on the supporting structure 302, which will be described in more detail below. For example, the counterforce member 304 may include a panel or plate, which may be planar, as shown in the figure. Alternatively or additionally, the counterforce member 304 may include features such as recesses, protrusions, non-planar shapes or profiles so that the counterforce member 304 can rest ergonomically on the user's back. Alternatively or additionally, the counterforce member 304 may include a cushioning element configured to interface with the user's back to increase the user's comfort, etc.
[0074] like Fig. 9and Fig.10 As shown, the support structure 302 may also include a first arm 310 and a second arm 312, which may be attached to the reaction member 304 and may be configured to extend forward from opposite left and right sides of the reaction member 304. In some embodiments, one or both of the first arm 310 and the second arm 312, preferably both arms 310 and 312, may be pivotable relative to the reaction member 304, thereby allowing the arms 310 and 312 to be in a storage position (e.g., Fig. 9 upright position as shown) and as Figure 11-14 The arms 310 and 312 are pivotable between the use positions shown, in which, in the storage position, the arms 310 and 312 are arranged generally parallel to the left and right sides of the reaction member 304 and along or adjacent to the left and right sides of the reaction member 304, and in the use position, the two arms are pivoted downward relative to the reaction member 304. In some embodiments, the arms 310 and 312 can pivot relative to a transverse rotation axis 314 in the left-right direction. In some embodiments, the first arm 310 and the second arm 312 can pivot independently of each other; in various other embodiments, the arms 310 and 312 can pivot in conjunction. In some embodiments, the arms 310 and 312 are blocked or prevented from pivoting downward beyond the use position, i.e., cannot pivot downward beyond the use position. Figure 11-14 In some embodiments, the arms 310 and 312 in the use position may be mechanically prevented from pivoting downward, but may be freely pivoted upward; in a number of other embodiments, the arms 310 and 312 in the use position may be prevented from pivoting upward and downward, and may be unlocked, such as manually, so that the two arms may again pivot upward toward the upright position.
[0075] like Fig.10 As shown, in some embodiments, one or both of the first arm 310 and the second arm 312 can be selectively separated from the reaction member 304 in the left-right lateral direction, as shown by arrow A, to increase the distance between the first arm 310 and the second arm 312. This allows the arms 310 and 312 to be positioned in an extended position, in which the distance between the arms 310 and 312 is greater than when the user Figure 3 The width of the user's body in the area between the arms 310 and 312 when the support assembly 300 is worn is shown. Therefore, the arms 310 and 312 in the extended position can be pivoted forward on the opposite left and right sides of the user's body (such as Fig.11 ), which depicts the right side of the body and the second arm 312 located on and across the right side (similarly, the first arm 310 will be deployed on and across the opposite left side of the body). For example, for storage or transportation purposes, the extendable one or more arms 310, 312 can be retracted in the direction opposite to arrow A to present a Fig. 9 Shown in retracted position.
[0076] refer to Figure 11-13 In some embodiments, the first arm 310 and / or the second arm 312, preferably both arms 310 and 312, may be adjustable in length, such as telescopic. For example, in this embodiment, the lengths of both arms 310 and 312 are telescopically adjustable and can be adjusted in length. Figure 9-11 The shorter or contracted configuration shown and Figure 12-14 The telescopic first arm 310 and the second arm 312 of the present embodiment specifically include three corresponding arm sections 316, 318 and 320, which can be telescopically moved relative to each other; however, alternative embodiments are envisioned in which the number of telescopic arm sections in each arm can vary from two to any number.
[0077] In addition, if Fig.13 and 14 As shown, the support structure 302 of the support assembly 300 may include an expandable support member 330, on which an electronic device is placed, such as but not limited to a laptop computer 148, as shown in FIG. Fig.14 In some embodiments, the deployable support 330 may include a respective set of two or more elongated members 334 carried by each arm 310 and 312. The elongated members 334 are preferably rigid and non-deformable.
[0078] The two or more elongated members 334 of each arm 310 and 312 may be arranged relative to each arm. Fig.13 The stowed position shown and Fig.14 In the stowed position, the elongated member 334 can be pivoted on and into the respective arms 310 and 312 so that the elongated member 334 does not interfere with the length-adjustable arms 310 and 312 in a shorter configuration or a retracted configuration ( Figure 9-11 ) and the longer or elongated configuration ( Figure 12-14) between retraction and extension. For example, in the non-limiting example shown in the figures, the elongated members 334 in the stowed position are received within corresponding recesses 336 formed in the arms 310 and 312, such as on the top sides of the arms 310 and 312. In some embodiments, as shown, each arm 310, 312 may include a separate or independent recess 336 for each elongated member 334; in a number of other embodiments, the two or more elongated members 334 of each arm 310 and 312 may be received in a common recess 336 formed in each arm 310 and 312. As further shown, the elongated members 334 may pivot relative to the arms 310 and 312 about respective vertical rotation axes 338, i.e., in a horizontal plane as indicated by arrow B.
[0079] In the expanded position, such as Fig.14 As shown, the elongated members 334 pivot inwardly and toward each other and may be oriented parallel to each other and perpendicular to the arms 310 and 312. The top sides 335 of the elongated members 334 may preferably be arranged to be coplanar with each other and may provide a stable support for the laptop 148 or other electronic device or item. In some embodiments, the top sides 335 may include anti-slip features, such as rubber or other high friction material, texture or roughness, etc., to further stabilize the laptop 148 on the elongated members 334. Fig.14 As further shown in FIG. 1 , in the extended / deployed position, the elongated member 334 may be prevented from further pivoting in the direction of arrow B by corresponding stops 340 included in the arms 310 and 312 .
[0080] In one example of operation, a user may wear the harness assembly 350 as described above, with the counterforce member 304 of the support structure 302 resting on the user's back. The adjustable length arms 310 and 312 may be initially arranged in a shorter or retracted configuration, and may be pivoted to a position such as Fig. 9 The upright position shown in the figure allows the user to carry the support assembly 300 as a backpack. In the case where the user wishes to use their laptop computer 148, the user can Fig.10 Pull arms 310 and 312 outwardly as shown by arrow A, and then Fig.11 The arms 310 and 312 are pivoted downwardly as shown by arrow C in the middle, and then, if necessary, by Fig.12 The length of arms 310 and 312 can be adjusted by extending the arms forward as shown by arrow D. The user can adjust the length of arms 310 and 312 as shown by arrow D. Fig.14The elongated member 334 is pivoted outwardly as indicated by arrow B, for example until the elongated member 334 is stopped by the stop 340, and the laptop 148 is then placed on the top side 335 of the elongated member 334. After use of the support assembly 300, the laptop 184 can be removed from the support structure 302, and the user can collapse the support assembly 300 in the reverse order.
[0081] Figure 15-20 FIG. 4 is a support assembly 400 according to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Similar to the previous embodiments, the support assembly 400 is adapted to be fastened to the body of a user to hold or support an electronic device or other item in a functional position for the user. That is, the support assembly 400 can support the electronic device or other item in a position where the user can use or operate the electronic device or other item. First, refer to FIG. Fig.15 As shown in the figure, the support assembly 400 includes a fixing belt assembly 410 and a support structure 412. The fixing belt assembly 410 is configured to be selectively fastened to the user's body (e.g., Fig. 20 552 of the user 550 shown in the figure), and carries the support structure 412. Through the fixed belt assembly 410, the support structure 412 and the electronic device or other items supported thereon can be carried by the user 550 with both hands free.
[0082] like Fig.15 and 16 As shown, the fixed belt assembly 410 may include a left front belt section 420 and a right front belt section 422 extending from the support structure 412, and the left front belt section and the right front belt section are spaced apart from each other. A connecting belt section 424 may extend from the left front belt section 420 and the right front belt section 422 and interconnect them. The left front belt section 420, the right front belt section 422 and the connecting belt section 424 may together form an inverted U-shape, as shown, the U-shape is configured to extend above the user's body 552, and preferably at least partially rest on the user's body 552. The fixed belt assembly 410 may also include a left rear belt section 426 and a right rear belt section 428, respectively, which may be arranged in a spaced relationship and extend from the inverted U-shape (e.g., from the connecting belt section 424) to the support structure 412. In the non-limiting example shown in the figures, the left and right rear strap sections 426, 428 are configured to extend over the user's shoulders 554 and along the user's back 556 ( Fig. 20), and rest at least partially on the shoulders 554 and the back 556. The first reaction member 430 and the second reaction member 432 can be arranged on the back 556 of the user, for example, by fixing the first reaction member 430 and the second reaction member 432 to the left rear belt segment 426 and the right rear belt segment 428. For example, in the specific example shown in the drawings, each of the first reaction member 430 and the second reaction member 432 is formed as a respective belt segment extending from and between the left rear belt segment 426 and the right rear belt segment 428. This configuration prevents the left and right rear belt segments 426, 428 from separating from each other during use, thereby allowing the left and right rear belt segments 426, 428 and the first and second reaction force members 430, 432 to remain in place on the user's back 556 and to counteract the weight of the support structure 412 and other components carried or attached thereto located on the front side of the user's body 552 ( Fig. 20 ). In some embodiments, the strap assembly 410 may include one or more buckles 434 that facilitate separating the strap members and attaching or removing the strap assembly to or from the user's body 552, respectively. Alternatively or additionally, the strap assembly 410 may be provided with one or more length adjustment mechanisms 436 to allow the strap assembly 410 to be resized and adjusted to fit the user's body 552.
[0083] Continue to refer Fig.15 and Fig.16, the support structure 412 of the present embodiment includes a first panel 440 and a second panel 442, and the second panel 442 is carried by the first panel 440 in a pivotable manner. More specifically, the first panel 440 and the second panel 442 can be pivotally connected to each other at the corresponding bottom ends 444, 446 of each panel 440, 442. In some embodiments, the first panel 440 and the second panel 442 can be pivotally connected to each other by a hinge 450. The hinge 450 may include a first hinge member 452 and a second hinge member 454, which can be carried by the first panel 440 and the second panel 442, respectively, or formed / integrated with them. The hinge 450 defines a rotation axis 456 of the first panel 440 relative to the second panel 442. The hinge 450, the first panel 440 and the second panel 442 can be configured so that the bottom end 446 of the second panel 442 is arranged in front of the first panel 440 (along the front-to-back or longitudinal direction x). At least one stopper, such as but not limited to two stops 458, may be provided to limit the extent of the upward pivoting of the second panel 442 toward the first panel 440, the purpose of which will be described below. In some embodiments, such as in the present embodiment, the stopper 458 may be provided on the first panel 440, for example, in the form of two side flanges that protrude forward from the corresponding laterally opposite outer edges of the outer side 460 of the first panel 440, such as Fig.16 shown.
[0084] like Fig.15 and 17 As shown, the second panel 442 can be pivoted between a closed position and an open position. Fig.15 As shown, the second panel 442 pivots upward and toward the first panel 440 about the rotation axis 456. The inner side 466 ( Fig.16 ) faces and is adjacent to the outer side surface 460 of the first panel 440 ( Fig.16 ). The inner side 466 of the second panel 442 and the outer side 460 of the first panel 440 are maintained in a spaced-apart, generally parallel relationship by the hinge 450 and the stop 458, so that an interior space or gap 470 is defined between the first panel 440 and the second panel 442. The shape and size of the gap 470 can be determined to store one or more items. Fig.15 As best shown, the top opening 472 can be defined between the top end 474 of the first panel 440 and the top end 476 of the adjacent second panel 442. The top opening 472 can be in spatial communication with the gap 470. In the open position, as shown in FIG. Fig.17As shown, the second panel 442 in turn pivots downward around the axis of rotation 456 and away from the first panel 440, and extends to the front of the second panel 442. In some embodiments, when the second panel 442 is arranged in the open position, the second panel 442 can be about 90 degrees with the first panel 440, as shown. However, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure, alternative angles can be considered. For example, the second panel 442 in the open position can form an acute angle with the first panel 440, so that the inner side 466 of the second panel 442 is slightly tilted downward toward the bottom 446 of the second panel 442, thereby helping to keep the articles placed on the inner side 466 of the second panel 442 by gravity. In some embodiments, one or more wires / wires, cables, chains, ropes or other elongated flexible links described previously can interconnect the first and second panels 440 and 442 to help keep the second panel 442 in the open position relative to the first panel 440 and prevent the second panel 442 from pivoting further downward from the open position.
[0085] In some embodiments, at least one fastener 480 may hold the second panel 442 in a closed position. The at least one fastener 480 may include one or more first fastener members 482 on the first panel 440 and one or more second fastener members 484 on the second panel 442. The first fastener members 482 may be configured to be detachably attached to the second fastener members 484 to releasably secure the second panel 442 to the first panel 440. In non-limiting examples, the fastener members 482, 484 may include one or more of magnets, snaps, clips, or friction fits.
[0086] For example Fig.16 and 17 As shown, the support structure 412 may also include an arm 490 and an electronic device mount 492 carried by the arm 490. The arm 490 may pivot relative to the first panel 440 together with the second panel 442 or independently of the second panel 442. For example, the arm 490 of this figure may particularly pivot about the rotation axis 456 in conjunction with the second panel 442. In some embodiments, such as in the present embodiment, the arm 490 may extend from the hinge 450, which pivotally connects the first panel 440 to the second panel 442. In a number of preferred embodiments, as shown in the figure, the arm 490 may be arranged between the first panel 440 and the second panel 442 so that when the second panel 442 is moved from the open position ( Fig.17 ) pivots to the closed position ( Fig.15 ), the arm 490 becomes “sandwiched” or received between the first panel 440 and the second panel 442.
[0087] In certain embodiments, such as in the present embodiment, the arm 490 can be extendable and retractable. For example, in the present embodiment, the arm 490 specifically includes a first arm portion 496 and a second arm portion 498, and the second arm portion 498 can be extended and retracted slidably along the first arm portion 496. The first arm portion 496 can be attached to the second panel 442, such as to the inner side 466 of the second panel 442, and the second arm portion 498 can be slidably carried by the first arm portion 496. In various other embodiments, the arm 490 can be retractable, flexible (e.g., a gooseneck arm), or present an alternative configuration that allows the arm 490 to be extended and retracted relative to the second panel 442, as will be described below.
[0088] In some embodiments, such as in the present embodiment, the electronic device mount 492 may be carried by the arm 490 at the distal end 500 of the arm 490. Alternatively or additionally, the electronic device mount 492 may be movably connected to the arm 490, thereby allowing a user to reorient the electronic device mount 492 (and the electronic device supported thereon) in a different orientation relative to the user. For example, the electronic device mount 492 may be connected to the arm 490 by at least one hinged connection / articulated connection mechanism; in one non-limiting example, the electronic device mount 492 of the present embodiment is specifically connected to the arm 490 by a first hinged connection / first hinged connection mechanism 502 and a second hinged connection / second hinged connection mechanism 504 defining respective rotation axes 506 and 508. The first hinged connection mechanism 502 is provided between the distal end 500 of the arm 490 and the rod 512 of the T-shaped connecting member 510. The second hinged connection mechanism 502 is provided between the protruding transverse pin 514 of the connecting member 510 and the electronic device support 520. The electronic device support 520 may be a housing, panel, clamp, or other structure configured for connecting an electronic device thereto so that the electronic device support 520 carries the electronic device. For example, the electronic device support 520 shown here is formed as a housing containing / enclosing the electronic device, which has an open front side 522 for inserting the electronic device. Typically, the electronic device will be inserted with the screen or other user interface of the electronic device facing outward at the open front side 522.
[0089] Now refer to Fig.15 and Figure 17-20 The operation sequence of the support assembly 400 is described. Fig.15As shown, the support assembly 400 can be initially arranged so that the second panel 442 is pivoted to a closed position, wherein the outer panel 464 of the second panel 442 faces distally or forwardly. The arm 490 can be retracted, and the electronic device mount 492 can be pivoted toward the arm 490 about the transverse rotation axis 508 to abut or be adjacent to / adjacent the arm 490. The electronic device can be carried by the electronic device support 520. The retracted arm 490, the undeployed electronic device mount 492, and the electronic device can be located within the gap 470 defined between the outer side 460 of the first panel 440 and the inner side 466 of the second panel 442. The top opening 472 can be arranged to be vertically aligned with the electronic device mount 492, and is preferably located above the electronic device mount 492, so that the electronic device mount 492 is completely located within the gap 470.
[0090] like Fig.17 As shown, users can Fig.15 The initial state shown is to rotate the second panel 442 downward about the rotation axis 456 (as shown by arrow E) to the open position described above. In various embodiments, and as described above, in the open position of the second panel 442 (also as shown by arrow E), the second panel 442 is rotated downward about the rotation axis 456 (as shown by arrow E) to the open position described above. Fig. 20 ), the angle 524 formed between the first panel 440 and the second panel 442 can be, for example but not limited to, about 90 degrees, or less than 90 degrees. The hinge 450 and / or other areas of the support structure 412 (e.g., the one or more wires / wires, cables, chains, ropes, or other elongated flexible links described previously) can be configured to prevent the second panel 442 from rotating further downward about the rotation axis 456 from the open position. Fig.17 As further shown, in some embodiments, the arm 490 and the electronic device mount 492 can be pivoted downwardly about the rotation axis 456 together with the second panel 442. The user wearing the support assembly 400 can easily and conveniently perform the pivoting action. During operation, the electronic device can be safely supported by the electronic device mount 492. When the front panel 442 is pivoted to the open position, the open front side 522 and therefore the electronic device screen can be safely positioned facing the arm 490, and preferably slightly spaced from the arm 490.
[0091] like Fig.18 As shown, users can Fig.17 The open position shown is achieved by extending the arm 490 by sliding the second arm portion 498 distally or longitudinally outwardly (as indicated by arrow F) along the first arm portion 496 to increase the distance between the electronic device mount 492 and the first panel 440. The user can then pivot the electronic device support 520 upward about the transverse rotation axis 508 (as indicated by arrow G) to a selected orientation or angle. For example, Fig.18The illustration of shows the electronic device support 520 pivoted upward approximately 90 degrees, and wherein the open front side 522 of the electronic device support 520 faces the first panel 440 (as indicated by arrow H). Alternatively, the user can select different angular adjustments or positions of the electronic device support 520 (e.g., Fig. 20 With the open front side 522 of the electronic device support 520 facing backward, the user can directly view the electronic device screen, for example, make video calls, take selfies, manipulate tactile controls provided on the screen, or otherwise operate the electronic device.
[0092] like Fig.19 As shown, the support assembly 400 can be further adjusted by rotating the electronic device support 520 about the rotation axis 506, as shown by arrow I. For example, but not limited to, the user can rotate the electronic device support 520 so that it faces the side, front, or diagonal of the user. In the specific example of operation shown in the figure, the electronic device support 520 is shown as pivoted 180 degrees from the position of the previous figure, so that the open front side 522 of the electronic device support 520 faces forward or distally, as shown by arrow J. In this position, the screen of the electronic device carried by the electronic device support 520 will face forward (arrow J), which facilitates the orientation of the device toward the front of the user without using hands / freeing hands, so as to be used for displaying the environment during a video call, for example, but not limited to.
[0093] In different usage locations, such as Fig.15 and Figure 17-20 As shown, the user 550 can carry the support structure 412 and the items supported thereon via the strap assembly 410 without using his or her hands. The support structure 412 generally extends forward of the strap assembly 410 and the user's body, wherein the electronic device can be conveniently positioned in a variety of positions. Fig. 20 As shown, when the user wears the support assembly 400, the first panel 440 and more specifically the inner side 462 of the first panel 440 can rest on the user's body. The first and second reaction members 430, 432 and the left and right rear belt sections 426, 428 can rest against the back 556 of the user 550 and can offset the weight of the support structure 412 and the electronic device or other items supported thereon to maintain the position of the support structure 412 and the electronic device or other items supported thereon.
[0094] In addition, in different use positions in which the second panel 442 is in the open position, such as Figure 17-20In the use positions shown, the inner side 466 of the second panel 442 can provide a coplanar support for stabilizing an electronic device or other item to rest on it. For example, a user can place a phone, mouse, tablet computer or other device on the inner side 466. In some embodiments, the coplanar support or inner side 466 can be arranged along a generally horizontal plane, such as when the second panel 442 is arranged at 90 degrees to the first panel 440.
[0095] After use, the support assembly 400 of this embodiment can be operated by performing a substantially reverse sequence and adjusting back to Fig.15 470 . In this position, the support assembly 400 can be conveniently worn by the user without hindering the movement of the user's arm. In addition, the user may choose to place other items (e.g., keys, wallets, etc.) into the gap 470 via the top opening 472 for safe and temporary storage. Alternatively or additionally, the user applies an upward force on the electronic device support 520 to extend the arm 490 and pull the electronic device support 520 and the electronic device out of the gap 470 via the top opening 472. With the electronic device protruding to the outside but still carried by the arm 490, and then pivoting the electronic device support 520 forward around the lateral rotation axis 508, the user can quickly position the electronic device screen (at the open front side 522) to face the user's face without opening the second panel 442, and easily and conveniently operate the electronic device. In another example of use, once the electronic device support 520 has been pulled out through the top opening 472, the user can remove the electronic device from the electronic device support 520 for separate storage, transportation or use purposes, and put the electronic device support 520 back into the gap 470 again by performing the reverse sequence. In yet another example of use, once the electronic device support 520 has been pulled out through the top opening 472, the user can disconnect the electronic device support 520 from the arm 490 to, for example, use the electronic device support 520 as a conventional electronic device housing; once the electronic device support 520 has been disconnected, the arm 490 can be retracted into the gap 470.
[0096] Thus, support assembly 400 provides an easy-to-operate, convenient and versatile solution for carrying electronic devices and other items hands-free, while the electronic device is readily accessible for use.
[0097] In some embodiments, the support assembly 400 may also include an additional panel or pivotable inner cover 600, such as Figure 17-2040. The pivotable inner cover 600 may be carried by the arm 490 together with the electronic device mount 492; for example, the pivotable inner cover 600 and the electronic device mount 492 may be carried by the arm 490 at the distal end 500 of the arm 490. As previously described, the pivotable inner cover 600 may be extended and retracted relative to the first panel 440 along with the electronic device mount 492 (and therefore along with the electronic device carried by the electronic device mount 492) by extending and retracting the arm 490. The pivotable inner cover 600 may be pivoted together with the electronic device mount 492, more specifically, the electronic device support 520 of the electronic device mount 492, and therefore may be pivoted together with the electronic device carried by the electronic device mount 492, relative to the rotation axis 506 and the rotation axis 508. For example, in some embodiments, the pivotable inner cover 600 can be attached to and carried by the electronic device mount 492, which in turn is connected to the arm 490 via the first hinge connection mechanism 502 and the second hinge connection mechanism 504 that respectively define the rotation axes 506 and 508. In various other embodiments, the pivotable inner cover 600 can alternatively be connected to the arm 490 via the first hinge connection mechanism 502 and the second hinge connection mechanism 504, and the electronic device mount 492 can in turn be connected to and carried by the pivotable inner cover 600. The rotation axis 508 can be disposed near the bottom end 604 of the pivotable inner cover 600 opposite the top end 602 of the pivotable inner cover 600.
[0098] In operation of the support assembly 400 provided with the pivotable inner cover 600, the support assembly 400 may be Fig.15 and Figure 17-20 For example, first refer to Fig.17 , the support assembly 400 can be arranged in a partially deployed position, wherein the second panel 442 is pivoted downwardly about the rotation axis 456 (as indicated by arrow E) to the previously described open position, wherein the second panel 442 forms an angle 524 ( Fig. 20 ), angle 524 is preferably less than or equal to 90 degrees.
[0099] Continue to refer Fig.17In the partially deployed position of the support assembly 400, the pivotable inner cover 600 and the electronic device mount 492 can be pivoted together toward the second panel 442 so that the inner side 606 of the pivotable inner cover 600 is adjacent to, e.g., parallel to, the inner side 466 of the second panel 442. In this position, the electronic device mount 492 (and therefore the electronic device) is received in the gap provided between the inner side 606 of the pivotable inner cover 600 and the inner side 466 of the second panel 442, i.e., sandwiched between the pivotable inner cover 600 and the second panel 442. The opposite outer side 608 of the pivotable inner cover 600 can again be oriented upward and provide a preferably flat support surface for placing items thereon, for supporting paper or pads for writing thereon, or for a variety of other uses when the support assembly 400 is worn. In some embodiments, the pivotable inner cover 600 can be substantially opaque or not see-through, so that the electronic device mount 492 and the electronic device carried by the electronic device mount 492 are hidden by the pivotable inner cover 600.
[0100] like Fig.18 As shown, users can Fig.17 The position shown is achieved by extending the arm 490 by sliding the second arm portion 498 distally or longitudinally outwardly (as indicated by arrow F) along the first arm portion 496. Extending the arm 490 allows for an increase in the distance between the first panel 440 and the co-movable assembly formed by the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600. Next, as indicated by arrow G, the user can pivot the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600 upwardly together about the transverse rotation axis 508 to a selected orientation or angle. For example, Fig.18 The illustration of shows that the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600 are pivoted upward approximately 90 degrees, and the open front side 522 of the electronic device support 520 faces the first panel 440, as shown by arrow H. Alternatively, the user can select a plurality of different angular adjustments or positions of the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600 about the transverse rotation axis 508. Fig. 20 As shown, the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600 are jointly / jointly positionable in the plurality of different angular positions (examples of such different angular positions are indicated by reference numerals 520 - 600 , 520 ′- 600 ′, and 520 ″- 600 ″, respectively).
[0101] Alternatively, if Fig.19 As shown, it can be obtained from Fig.17 The support assembly 400 is adjusted by pivoting the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600 together about the rotation axis 506 (as shown by arrow I). For example, but not limited to, the user can rotate the electronic device support 520 and the pivotable inner cover 600 together to face the side, front, or diagonal direction of the user.
[0102] In another example, the second panel 442 may be moved in a direction opposite to the direction of arrow E. Fig.17 The position of the second panel 442 is pivoted upward about the rotation axis 456 defined by the hinge 450 to the closed position. Therefore, the arm 490, the electronic device mount 492 and the pivotable inner cover 600, which are all carried by the second panel 442, rotate together with the second panel 442 about the rotation axis 456 in the direction opposite to the arrow E, as described above, and the arm 490 and the electronic device mount 492 are sandwiched between the second panel 442 and the pivotable inner cover 600. In the closed position of the second panel 442, as shown in FIG. Fig.15 As shown, the arm 490 , the electronic device mount 492 , the electronic device carried by the electronic device mount 492 , and the pivotable inner cover 600 may be accommodated within a gap 470 defined between the outer side 460 of the first panel 440 and the inner side 466 of the second panel 442 .
[0103] Alternative embodiments are contemplated without departing from the scope of the present invention. For example, it is contemplated that any of the disclosed support structures may be used in combination with any of the disclosed strap assemblies.
[0104] Since various modifications, variations and changes in details may be made to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, it is intended that all matter shown in the foregoing description and accompanying drawings be interpreted as illustrative rather than restrictive. Therefore, the scope of the present invention shall be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.
