The study was then printed with the subject number on the outer packaging of the corresponding medication or placebo according to the defined group assignment scheme. The study was double-blind, with subjects, investigators, and physicians unaware of the intervention. The investigators distributed the study medications according to the order in which the subjects were enrolled, corresponding to the number on the packaging.

[0089] 1.8 Statistical analysis
[0090] In a preliminary pilot study, we found that the monthly ovulation rate for PCOS treated with the traditional Chinese medicine formula Zishen Qingre Lishi Huayu (Zishen Qingre Lishi Huayu) was 40.3%, compared to 15.8% for placebo. α represents the type I error rate, and β represents the type II error rate. Taking into account a 25% dropout rate, we calculated that 63 eligible subjects were required to be included in each group, for a total sample size of 126 subjects across both groups.
[0091] Data analysis was performed by statisticians who were not aware of the group settings. All randomized participants were included in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis, and unobserved outcome events were uniformly recorded as "non-ovulation".
