Abstract
A method for assembling a plurality of batteries into a battery module employs a controller having a processor and a tangible non-transient memory. The method includes positioning the plurality of batteries in a test device for a pre-assembly test. The test device is adapted to receive a selected group of the plurality of batteries at a time. The method includes performing, via the test device, a pulse power test on the selected group. The method includes receiving respective voltage trace data based in part on the pulsed power test. Respective internal resistance parameters of the plurality of batteries are tracked, via the controller, based in part on the respective voltage trace data. The method includes: arranging the plurality of batteries into a classified group based in part on the respective internal resistance parameters; and assembling the classified groups into the battery module in a predefined pattern.
