Detailed Implementation

[0029] First, a summary of the technology of the present invention will be described. The camera device according to the present invention includes a monitor unit on its main body, the monitor unit having a display device, and a display component having a first display area and a second display area as display areas. Furthermore, the camera device according to the present invention includes a cover component having a first opening and a second opening that separate and expose the first display area and the second display area, respectively. With this structure, a user viewing the two images displayed in the first display area and the second display area can visually easily grasp the difference between the two images.

[0030] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 This is a front view of the digital camera 10 according to the embodiment, viewed from the front side. Figure 2This is a rear view of the digital camera 10, viewed from the rear side. The digital camera 10 is an example of the imaging device of the present invention.

[0031] In addition, the aforementioned front side refers to the side facing the subject when the digital camera 10 is used to photograph the subject, and the aforementioned back side refers to the side opposite to the front side, that is, the side facing the user operating the digital camera 10.

[0032] like Figure 1 and Figure 2 As shown, the digital camera 10 has a main body 12 as a frame. The main body 12 has a main body back 14 as the back side, a main body front 16 as the side opposite to the main body back 14, and a main body upper surface 18 as the upper surface side.

[0033] The monitor unit 50, described later, is located on the back side 14 of the main body. The monitor unit 50 has two display areas 52 and a display area 54.

[0034] Furthermore, the back of the main body 14 is provided with a viewfinder 20, a slide switch 22 for switching the camera mode (also known as the photography mode) to still image (STILL) and moving image (MOVIE), and a play button 24 for indicating the playback of still image or moving image. The back of the main body 14 is an example of the back of the main body of the present invention.

[0035] A lens portion 26 and a strobe light-emitting portion 28 are provided on the front side 16 of the main body. The lens portion 26 has an optical axis P that serves as the imaging optical axis. The lens portion 26 can be a replaceable component that can be attached to and detached from the main body 12, or it can be an integral component of the main body 12 that cannot be attached or detached. When the imaging light is insufficient, the strobe light-emitting portion 28 automatically emits light, or it is forced to emit light when strobe light is indicated. The front side 16 of the main body, the lens portion 26, and the optical axis P are examples of the front side of the main body, the lens portion, and the optical axis of the present invention, respectively.

[0036] A release button 30 and a dial 32 are provided on the upper surface 18 of the main body. The release button 30 can be partially pressed or fully pressed by the user. The digital camera 10 enters the recording preparation state by partially pressing the release button 30, and enters the recording start state by fully pressing it.

[0037] When setting the respective operating modes of the camera system and playback system, the user operates the dial 32. By operating the dial 32, the digital camera 10 can selectively set the camera mode, playback mode, and setting mode as operating modes, for example.

[0038] The video recording mode is an action mode that enables the digital camera 10 to record still images or moving images. The playback mode is an action mode that plays back still images or moving images captured through the video recording mode. The setting mode is an action mode that enables the digital camera 10 to set various settings related to shooting. In addition, the action modes set by operating the dial 32 are not limited to the above three modes.

[0039] Although the illustration is omitted, the digital camera 10 has a controller. The controller is built into the main body 12 and controls the entire digital camera 10.

[0040] Furthermore, an image sensor (not shown) is provided in the main body 12. As an example, the image sensor is a CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) image sensor. Light from the subject is imaged onto the light-receiving surface of the CMOS image sensor via the optical system of the lens section 26, and image data representing the subject is generated by the CMOS image sensor. However, the image sensor is not limited to a CMOS image sensor; for example, it can be other types of image sensors such as a CCD (Charge Coupled Device) image sensor.

[0041] [Monitoring Department]

[0042] Next, the monitor unit 50 located on the back of the main body 14 will be described. Figure 3 This is a 3D view of the monitor unit 50. Figure 4 It is to constitute Figure 3 The monitor unit 50 shown is an assembled perspective view with its multiple components separated from each other.

[0043] like Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, the monitor unit 50 includes a display device 60 and two glass plates 70 and 72. Furthermore, in... Figure 3 and Figure 4 The diagram shows a cover component 80 of a digital camera 10, which is fixed to the monitor unit 50 as described later.

[0044] Figure 5 This is a perspective view of the monitor unit 50 without the cover component 80. Figure 6 It is to constitute Figure 5 The monitor unit 50 shown is an assembled perspective view with its multiple components separated from each other.

[0045] like Figure 4 and Figure 6As shown in the assembled perspective view, the display device 60 includes a display component 62 and a touch panel component 64. The display device 60 is constructed by stacking the touch panel component 64 on the surface of the display component 62 (the surface on the display area side). Thus, the display device 60 has touch panel functionality through the touch panel component 64. In addition, the structure of the touch panel component 64 in this embodiment is an example, and the placement position of the touch panel component 64 is arbitrary, as long as the display device 60 has touch panel functionality.

[0046] In this example, the display device 60 is an on-cell display device in which the touch panel component 64 is stacked on the display area side of the display component 62. However, it is not limited to this, and for example, an in-cell display device can also be used.

[0047] <Display Components>

[0048] As an example, the display component 62 is a liquid crystal display configured in a rectangular shape. However, it is not limited to a liquid crystal display, and may also be other types of displays such as an EL display (e.g., an organic EL display or an inorganic EL display).

[0049] In the display component 62, the display area 52 and the display area 54 are set separately from each other. When viewing the back side 14 of the main body along the optical axis P, the display area 52 is located in a part of the left half of the entire area of the display component 62, and the display area 54 is located in a part of the right half of the entire area of the display component 62.

[0050] In this example, the display component 62 does not constitute its entire area as a display area. Instead, it divides its entire area into two regions, left and right, which together constitute display areas 52 and 54. Thus, a single display component 62 provides two display areas 52 and 54. Display areas 52 and 54 are examples of the first and second display areas of the present invention, respectively.

[0051] As an example, the following images and character information are displayed in display area 54.

[0052] For example, when video recording mode is selected as the operating mode of the digital camera 10, a live preview image is displayed in display area 54. The live preview image is an image based on video data obtained by capturing images using the image sensor.

[0053] Furthermore, when the digital camera 10 is instructed to capture a still image by fully pressing the release button 30, a still image is displayed in the display area 54. A still image refers to an image based on image data obtained by capturing images using an image sensor. In this case, the captured image is displayed in the display area 54, for example, as an aspect ratio. As an example, the captured image is an image with an aspect ratio corresponding to half the size of an L-shaped image divided into two parts.

[0054] Furthermore, when the playback mode is selected as the operating mode of the digital camera 10, the playback image is displayed in the display area 54. The playback image refers to a still image or moving image stored in an image storage medium built into the main body 12 or an external storage medium externally placed on the main body 12.

[0055] Furthermore, when the setting mode is selected as the operation mode of the digital camera 10, a menu screen with various menus to be selected and setting images for setting various settings related to shooting are displayed in the display area 54.

[0056] On the other hand, as an example, the following image is displayed in display area 52.

[0057] For example, when the video recording mode is selected as the operating mode of the digital camera 10, images such as characters or symbols representing video recording information (e.g., automatic mode, scene mode, backlight mode, etc.) are displayed in the display area 52. The images displayed in the display area 52 can display not only shooting-related information, but also information related to the playback mode when the playback mode is selected as the operating mode, and information related to the setting mode when the setting mode is selected as the operating mode.

[0058] Furthermore, the image displayed in display area 52 is not limited to information representing the mode described above; for example, it may be a moving image or a still image captured by an image sensor. In this case, for example, it is also possible to display an image in display area 52 with a magnification different from that of the moving image and the still image displayed in display area 54.

[0059] As an example, display area 52 in this example is an elongated elliptical display area. And, as an example, display area 54 in this example is an elongated quadrilateral display area with an area larger than display area 52. However, this is not a limitation; the size and shape of display area 52 and display area 54 are arbitrary.

[0060] <Touch Panel Components>

[0061] The touch panel component 64 is a rectangular transmissive touch panel that is stacked on the display area side of the display component 62.

[0062] When the touch panel component 64 detects contact from a pointing component such as a finger or stylus, it receives various instructions from the user. These "various instructions" include, for example, instructions for displaying a menu screen, instructions for selecting one or more menus, instructions for confirming the selection, instructions for deleting the selection, instructions for zooming in, zooming out, and frame transmission.

[0063] <Glass Plate>

[0064] As an example, glass plate 70 and glass plate 72 are glass plates with high transparency and high strength, respectively. Glass plate 70 is an elongated elliptical shape with the same size and shape as display area 52, and glass plate 72 is an elongated quadrilateral shape with the same size and shape as display area 54.

[0065] Glass plates 70 and 72 are respectively stacked on display areas 52 and 54, separated by touch panel component 64. That is, glass plate 70 corresponding to display area 52 and glass plate 72 corresponding to display area 54 are stacked on the surface of display device 60. When touch panel component 64 receives an instruction from the user, glass plates 70 and 72 function as operation input components. Glass plates 70 and 72 are examples of the first and second operation input components of the present invention, respectively, and are examples of the glass components of the present invention.

[0066] <Cover Components>

[0067] like Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, the cover component 80 is a component forming part of the back surface 14 of the main body. The cover component 80 has an opening 82 and an opening 84 that separate the display area 52 and the display area 54, respectively. The opening 82 is an elongated elliptical shape with the same size and shape as the display area 52, and the opening 84 is an elongated quadrilateral shape with the same size and shape as the display area 54. The area of the opening 82 is smaller than the area of the opening 84. The opening 82 and the opening 84 are examples of the first opening and the second opening of the present invention, respectively.

[0068] When an image is displayed in display area 52, the user can visually recognize the image displayed in display area 52 through touch panel component 64 and glass plate 70 via opening 82. Similarly, when an image is displayed in display area 54, the user can visually recognize the image displayed in display area 54 through touch panel component 64 and glass plate 72 via opening 84.

[0069] The cover component 80 has a plate-shaped cover substrate 86 made of resin or metal and a leather sheet 88 attached to the surface of the cover substrate 86. The user holding the main body 12 of the digital camera 10 improves grip on the main body 12 by contacting the sheet 88. Additionally, in Figure 3 and Figure 4 In the illustration, the sheet 88 present on the left side of the opening 84 is shown, but the sheet 88 present on the right side of the opening 84 is omitted.

[0070] Double-sided adhesive tapes 90A, 90B, 90C, 90D, and 90E are provided between the cover component 80 (cover substrate 86) and the display device 60 to fix the cover component 80 and the display device 60 to each other. Therefore, the cover component 80 is fixed to the touch panel component 64 of the display device 60 by the double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E. The double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E are all strip-shaped.

[0071] Of the double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E, four double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90D are bonded along the four edges of the touch panel component 64, and one double-sided adhesive tape 90E is bonded along the virtual lines (not shown) that divide the entire area of the touch panel component 64 into left and right sides.

[0072] Using double-sided adhesive tape 90E, the entire area of the touch panel component 64 is divided into a region 64A, which is the left half stacked on the display area 52 side, and a region 64B, which is the right half stacked on the display area 54 side. Furthermore, double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E are attached to the flat surfaces of the touch panel component 64 where the glass plates 70 and 72 are not stacked.

[0073] The cover component 80 is bonded and secured to the touch panel component 64 using five double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E. In this case, the four double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90D can prevent dust or fog from entering areas 64A and 64B of the touch panel component 64 from the outer sides of the four edges of the touch panel component 64. Furthermore, a single double-sided adhesive tape 90E can prevent dust or fog from entering area 64A of the touch panel component 64 from the opening 84.

[0074] Figure 7 This is an enlarged perspective view of the main part showing the state in which the cover component 80 is bonded and fixed to the touch panel component 64 by double-sided adhesive tape 90E.

[0075] like Figure 7 As shown, a gap G, approximately equal to the thickness of the double-sided adhesive tape 90E, is created only between the cover component 80 and the touch panel component 64 (region 64A), but this gap G is... Figure 4Double-sided adhesive tapes 90A, 90B, 90C, and 90E are used for sealing. This prevents dust or mist from entering through the gap G from the outside.

[0076] Double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E are examples of fixing components of the present invention, and are examples of double-sided adhesive tapes of the present invention. That is, in this example, double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E are shown as fixing components, but are not limited to this. As long as the cover component 80 can be fixed to the touch panel component 64, an adhesive can also be used as a fixing component.

[0077] Fixed components.

[0078] According to the embodiment described above, the digital camera 10 has a monitor unit 50 on the back 14 of the main body. The monitor unit 50 has a display device 60, which has a display area 52 and a display area 54. Furthermore, the digital camera 10 has a cover member 80 with openings 82 and 84 that separate and expose the display areas 52 and 54 respectively. With this structure, a user viewing the two images displayed on the display areas 52 and 54 can easily visually grasp the difference between the two images.

[0079] Furthermore, the images displayed in display areas 52 and 54 are visually recognized by the user through openings 82 and 84, respectively. At this time, the edges of each opening in openings 82 and 84 are stepped shapes, with the opening area decreasing towards the touch panel component 64 (see reference). Figure 3 In the case of ), since the edges of their respective openings look like window frames, the two images are emphasized, and as a result, it is easier to grasp the difference between the two images.

[0080] On the other hand, in the case of a monitor unit having two display areas on the back of the main body, conventionally, two display devices are used to construct the monitor unit for each display area. In contrast, the digital camera 10 of this embodiment constructs the monitor unit 50 by providing two display areas 52, 54 on a single display device 60.

[0081] Therefore, compared with conventional digital cameras that assemble two display devices separately into the main body of the digital camera to form a monitor unit, the digital camera 10 of the embodiment can form a monitor unit 50 with two display areas 52, 54 by assembling a single display device 60 into the main body 12, thus improving the assembly operability of the monitor unit 50.

[0082] Furthermore, the digital camera 10 according to the embodiment employs a display device 60 with touch panel functionality as the display device, thus making it easy to receive instructions from the user. As a result, the operability of the digital camera 10 is improved.

[0083] Furthermore, the digital camera 10 according to the embodiment adopts a structure in which a glass plate 70 corresponding to the display area 52 and a glass plate 72 corresponding to the display area 54 are stacked on the surface of the display device 60, so that the display areas 52 and 54 can be protected by the glass plates 70 and 72.

[0084] Furthermore, the digital camera 10 according to the embodiment adopts a structure in which the monitor part 50 and the cover part 80 are fixed by double-sided adhesive tapes 90A to 90E, thereby improving the assembly operability of the cover part 80 relative to the monitor part 50.

[0085] Next, the preferred configuration positions of the opening 82 (equivalent to display area 52) and the opening 84 (equivalent to display area 54) in the back surface 14 of the main body will be described.

[0086] Figure 8 This is a rear view of the digital camera 10 showing the configuration positions of the openings 82 and 84 relative to the rear surface 14 of the main body. Additionally, Figure 8 Is with Figure 2 The same attached diagram, but for ease of illustration of the above configuration positions, is used instead of... Figure 2 Compared to simply labeling the required symbols.

[0087] like Figure 8 As shown, when viewing the back of the main body 14 along the direction of the optical axis P, in other words, when viewing the back of the main body 14 with the direction of the optical axis P parallel to the horizontal direction, the viewfinder 20 is positioned at the upper left corner of the back of the main body 14, and an opening 82 is positioned below the viewfinder 20. Furthermore, an opening 84 is positioned to the right of the opening 82, and the optical axis P is positioned within the opening 84.

[0088] By arranging the opening 82 at the aforementioned position, the user observing the viewfinder 20 can confirm the video information displayed on the display area 52 simply by shifting their gaze downwards in the vertical direction. Furthermore, by arranging the opening 84 at the aforementioned position, the user confirming the video information can confirm the video image displayed on the display area 54 via the opening 84 simply by shifting their gaze to the right in the horizontal direction. In this case, since the optical axis P is arranged within the opening 84, the user can easily confirm the position of the subject relative to the user. As a result, the operability of the digital camera 10 is improved.

[0089] As a preferred configuration of the opening 82, the opening 82 can be provided on the vertical axis V1 of the viewfinder 20. That is, the opening 82 and the viewfinder 20 are preferably provided to include the same vertical axis V1. In addition, the vertical axis V1 refers to the axis along the vertical direction among a plurality of axes that intersect the optical axis P, and is an example of the first axis of the present invention.

[0090] Furthermore, as a further preferred configuration of the opening 82, the center of gravity C1 of the opening 82 can be set on the vertical axis V1 passing through the center of gravity C2 of the viewfinder 20. In this case, the center of gravity C1 is the center of gravity when the opening 82 is assumed to be rectangular, and the center of gravity C2 is the center of gravity when the viewfinder 20 is assumed to be square or rectangular.

[0091] On the other hand, as a preferred configuration of the opening 84, the center of gravity C3 of the opening 84 can be set on the vertical axis V2 passing through the optical axis P. As a further preferred configuration, the center of gravity C3 of the opening 84 can be set at a position consistent with the optical axis P.

[0092] By arranging the openings 82 and 84 in the preferred positions as described above, the operability of the digital camera 10 is further improved.

[0093] Additionally, in the digital camera 10 of the embodiment, such as Figure 8 As shown, the viewfinder 20 is positioned at the upper left corner of the back panel 14, the opening 82 is positioned below the viewfinder 20 on the vertical axis V1, and the opening 84 is positioned to the right of the opening 82, but this is not a limitation. For example, the viewfinder 20 can be positioned at the upper right corner of the back panel 14, the opening 82 can be positioned below the viewfinder 20 on the vertical axis V1, and the opening 84 can be positioned to the left of the opening 82. Furthermore, while a digital camera 10 with a monitor 50 on the back panel 14 is illustrated, the position of the monitor 50 is not limited to the back panel 14; the monitor 50 can be provided on the main body as long as it is present.
