Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a smoke detector according to the preamble of claim 1. State of the art
[0002] Smoke detectors are known and available on the market in a wide variety of shapes and designs. The present invention relates primarily to flush-mounted smoke detectors, as described in particular in DE 199 51 403 B4. In these detectors, radiation is emitted from a transmitter in a ceiling through a cover into the open space, at least partially reflected by the smoke, and registered by a receiver behind the cover.A control program detects a deviation in the reflection and analyzes whether the deviation is due to smoke or a foreign body. A number of detection processes are performed within a time unit, and an alarm is only triggered when a certain number of consecutive detection processes are positive. To distinguish between smoke and foreign bodies, a distinction is made between a continuous increase in reflection, as with smoke, and an abrupt increase in reflection, as with a foreign body. Furthermore, for self-monitoring purposes, this smoke detector is assigned a separate receiver to the transmitter for receiving radiation reflected from the cover, and a separate transmitter to the receiver in front of the cover.
[0003] Reference is also made to US 2011 / 0 194 111 A1, which discloses a smoke detector in which different transmitters and receivers are intended to monitor different areas.
[0004] Further reference is made to DE 10 2009 054 141 A1, which discloses a method for testing the proper functioning of a smoke detector, describing an actual / target comparison for testing purposes. A similar test method for a smoke detector with a corresponding test chamber present in the housing is disclosed in US Pat. No. 6,225,910 B1.
[0005] Additionally, reference is made to DE 100 66 246 A1, which discloses a scattered-light smoke detector with means for distinguishing between smoke and other foreign objects at the scattering point. This differentiation is performed, for example, by analyzing the time course of the received signals. Optical systems can detect scattered signals from different scattering areas, thus providing greater reliability in distinguishing between smoke and an object through location information. Task
[0006] The object of the present invention is to further improve such smoke detectors and, above all, to better monitor the smoke detector's own environment. Solution to the task
[0007] The features of claim 1 lead to the solution of the problem.
[0008] The actual purpose of the present invention lies in the self-monitoring of the smoke detector in the form of an additional motion detector device. For this reason, a separate monitoring transmitter with its own radiation is provided for the monitored area, to which at least one monitoring receiver of this radiation is assigned. These components are preferably located in corresponding openings in a front plate, with the opening for the transmitter being specially designed. This should be at least partially funnel-shaped so that the radiation is not introduced in a beam downwards deep into the room, but rather in a balloon-like or leaf-like configuration. This monitoring system therefore primarily serves to monitor the space around the smoke detector. For example, it can also be determined whether the smoke detector is correctly positioned, e.g., not above a cupboard. For example, it also detects whether a cupboard or something similar is pushed in front of the smoke detector.
[0009] The surveillance transmitter itself is located in a cylindrical part of the opening, while an elliptical funnel is attached to this cylindrical part. This allows the radiation to be focused into a sheet-like pattern, as mentioned above, which contributes to a significant improvement in motion detection.
[0010] The face plate is one of the central components of the smoke detector. A second component is a control board associated with the face plate, which contains the corresponding electronic circuit elements. The face plate itself accommodates not only the monitoring transmitter and at least one monitoring receiver, but also the aforementioned, state-of-the-art transmitters and receivers for monitoring smoke in a room. This arrangement allows the entire smoke detector to be kept very flat, enabling flush-mounted installation without a detection chamber protruding from the ceiling and without a light labyrinth. All transmitters and receivers are arranged on one side of the face plate. The face plate, with its appropriately aligned openings or holes, then enables the correct transmission and reception of the corresponding radiation. Character description
[0011] Further advantages, features and details of the invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments and from the drawing, which shows in Fig. 1 a plan view of a smoke detector according to the invention; Fig. 2 a cross-section through the smoke detector according to Fig. 1 along line II-II.
[0012] A smoke detector R is Fig. 1 shows a front plate 1 with a side frame 2. Various holes can be seen in the front plate 1. A hole 3, which is Fig.2, which runs diagonally, serves to accommodate a transmitter 4 for radiation intended to impinge on smoke developing, for example, in a room. A receiver 5 is assigned to the transmitter 4, which is also located in another diagonal bore 6, which is aligned such that it impinges on the radiation from the transmitter 4 at a predetermined point and detects this radiation. The moment it does not detect the radiation from the transmitter 4, this is a sign that there is smoke in the room, which is scattering or obscuring the radiation from the transmitter 4. At that moment, an alarm can be triggered.
[0013] According to the invention, this smoke detector R is now assigned a further monitored area 11, in which, in particular, any movements or the smoke detector's own environment are monitored. This monitored area is, in the broadest sense, equipped with a motion detector. For this purpose, a monitoring transmitter 7 is located in a further opening 8 in the front plate 1, which is at least partially funnel-shaped.
[0014] The opening 8 has a cylindrical region 9 for accommodating the monitoring transmitter 7 and an adjoining funnel-shaped region 10, the cross-section of which resembles an ellipse. This creates the possibility of expanding the radiation emitted by the monitoring transmitter 7, creating a leaf-shaped monitoring region 11. This is indicated by dashed lines. The monitoring region 11 is monitored by one, preferably two, monitoring receivers 12.1 and 12.2, which can view this monitoring region 11 through further openings 13.1 and 13.2 in the front plate 1.
[0015] The monitoring receivers 12.1, 12.2, the monitoring transmitter 7 and also receiver 5 or transmitter 4 are located on a control board 14, which is equipped with the corresponding electronic control units and components.
[0016] Any movement can be detected in this monitored area. This primarily prevents false alarms from the smoke detector through appropriate tuning of the transmitter / receiver to the monitoring transmitter / receiver. Interference signals caused by insects or dirt on the surface of face plate 1 can be directly detected and evaluated, and forwarded as a fault report. Priorities are preferably set during the evaluation, which is particularly helpful in clean rooms where lint is often attracted to face plate 1.
