Abstract
Description
Background of the invention; Field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a clamping-free, all-in-one protrusion feeding system and a body component assembly method that uses the same, for vehicle body construction. In particular, the present invention relates to an all-in-one protrusion feeding system and a body component assembly method that uses the same, for a vehicle body for mounting an additional component onto a vehicle body. Description of the related technology
[0002] In general, a vehicle body becomes a body-in-white (BIW) through a process in which numerous panels manufactured in sub-processes are assembled.
[0003] A vehicle body is composed of a floor panel, which supports a seat, a drive section which has an internal combustion engine and axles, and so on, and which forms a lower surface, a pair of side panels which form a right / left side, a roof panel which forms an upper surface, a cowl panel, a rear panel, a parcel shelf and a plurality of roof rails.
[0004] The assembly of the body components is carried out in the body assembly process. The rear panel is connected to the floor panel using a body assembly system, and then, in the body assembly process, the pair of side panels, the roof panel, the roof rail, the parcel shelf, and so on are assembled by welding.
[0005] A worker initially inserts additional components, which are loaded onto a pallet, into a storage system during the body assembly process, so that the additional components, such as the windshield panel, are mounted on the vehicle body, which is formed by assembling the floor panel, the rear panel, the pair of side panels, the roof panel, and so on.
[0006] The additional components are therefore removed one after the other from a storage system, and the removed components are transported by a sliding clamping device. Furthermore, each additional component, in a state where it is gripped by a robot gripper and held in the positioning / holding clamping device, is loaded onto a positioning / holding clamping device and welded to the vehicle body by a welding robot, thus mounting it to the vehicle body.
[0007] In conventional techniques, where the additional components are mounted to the vehicle body using the processes described above, space is required to install the storage system, the sliding clamping device, the positioning / holding clamping device, and the welding robot. Furthermore, the initial investment costs may be higher.
[0008] Furthermore, the entire work process can be complicated, as the numerous steps from loading to welding the components are carried out using conventional techniques. Additionally, feeding the components to the vehicle body can be less efficient, since in conventional techniques the body parts are fed in relation to the fixture.

[0022] As in Fig. As shown in Figures 1 to 3, an all-in-one jigless projection loading system 100 can be used for vehicle construction according to numerous embodiments of the present invention for the body assembly process for mounting numerous panels which are manufactured in a secondary body assembly process and then conveyed to the vehicle body.
[0023] For example, the all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction according to numerous embodiments of the present invention can be used for a process for mounting an additional component (hereinafter referred to as a "body component"), such as a windshield panel, on the vehicle body, which is formed by assembling the floor panel, the rear panel, the pair of side panels, the roof panel, and so on in the body assembly process.
[0024] The all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction according to numerous embodiments of the present invention is provided here to precisely feed a body component 1 to a vehicle body which is transported along a conveyor line in a state in which it is loaded onto a conveying unit, and to mount the body component 1 at the position to which the body component is fed by welding.
[0025] The all-in-one feed system 100 for vehicle manufacturing, according to numerous embodiments of the present invention, can be configured to integrally assemble numerous components and can be attached to an arm 4 of a robot 3. The robot 3 is arranged here in a workspace formed on one side of the conveyor line.
[0026] The all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction according to numerous embodiments of the present invention is designed to remove, arrange and hold the body component 1 loaded onto a pallet, feed the body component 1 to a precise position and assemble the body component 1 by means of projection welding.
[0027] This means that the all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction is designed to perform all-in-one tasks: removing, arranging, holding, and projection welding of the body component 1.
[0028] The all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 includes a mounting bracket 10, a position adjustment element 20, grippers 33 and 43, an arrangement unit 50, a welding unit 60, a video camera 80 and a control unit 90.
[0029] Mounting bracket 10 is attached to the arm 4 of the robot 3. Furthermore, mounting bracket 10 can be connected to or disconnected from the arm 4 of the robot 3. A tool changer with a standard structure is attached to mounting bracket 10. This means that the tool changer can be selectively connected to the arm 4 of the robot 3.
[0030] Numerous components of various designs can be attached to the mounting bracket 10. The mounting bracket 10 is designed to support the components and has numerous accessories, such as a block, a plate, a housing, a cover, a collar, and so on.
[0031] However, the accessories for installing each component on the mounting bracket 10 are provided. These accessories are, except under special circumstances, referred to as mounting brackets 10.
[0032] The position adjustment element 20 is provided to set a position of the arrangement unit 50, which is described in more detail below. The position adjustment element 20 is essentially provided to set a position of the body component 1 that is arranged and held in place on the arrangement unit 50.
[0033] Referring to the in Fig. In the top view shown in Figure 4 of an all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction according to numerous embodiments of the present invention, the position adjustment element 20 is rotatably installed on the mounting bracket 10.
[0034] The position adjustment element 20 is installed so that it can be rotated in both directions by a drive motor 21 and is arranged as a rotary element which is connected to a rotating shaft of the drive motor 21.
[0035] This allows a feed position of the body component 1 with respect to the vehicle body and an arrangement position of the body component 1 and the vehicle body to be set according to the position setting element 20, which is rotated in both directions by the drive motor 21.
[0036] The grippers 33 and 43 grasp the body component 1 loaded onto a pallet by means of suction and can be installed on the mounting bracket 10 so that they can be moved back and forth.
[0037] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the grippers 33 and 43 can have a first suction gripper 33, which is installed on one side (an upper section in the figure) of the mounting bracket 10, and a second suction gripper 43, which is installed on the other side (a lower section in the figure) of the mounting bracket 10.
[0038] The first suction gripper 33 is arranged so that it can be moved back and forth by a first actuating cylinder 31, and the second suction gripper 43 is arranged so that it can be moved back and forth by a second actuating cylinder 41.
[0039] The first suction gripper 33 uses negative pressure to draw in one side of the body component 1 by means of air pressure and can be installed on a first actuating rod 35 of the first actuating cylinder 31.
[0040] The second suction gripper 43 also uses negative pressure to draw in air pressure to the other side of the body component 1 and can be installed on a second actuating rod 45 of the second actuating cylinder 41.
[0041] The first and second suction grippers 33 and 43 can grasp one side and the other side of the body component 1 by means of air pressure in accordance with a forward movement of the first and second actuating rods 35 and 45 of the first and second actuating cylinders 31 and 41.
[0042] Furthermore, the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43 can move the body component 1 towards the arrangement unit 50 in accordance with a backward movement of the first and second actuating rods 35 and 45 of the first and second actuating cylinders 31 and 41.
[0043] The arrangement unit 50 is provided to define an arrangement reference point of the body component 1 gripped by the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43 and to arrange and hold the body component 1.
[0044] Referring to Fig. 1 to Fig. 4 The arrangement unit 50 has a reference pin 51 and a pin holding device 55.
[0045] The reference pin 51 is installed on the position adjustment element 20 and can be connected to a receiving hole 5 of the body component 1, which is moved by the reverse movement of the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43.
[0046] The reference pin 51 is installed here so that it can be moved linearly by a movable element 53 according to the position of the receiving hole 5 of the body component 1. The movable element 53 is an electrical unit that moves linearly along an axis on the position adjustment element 20.
[0047] The movable element 53 is a typical LM conveying unit (conveyor) which has an LM motor 54a and an LM guide module 54b for moving along an axis direction, so a detailed description of it is omitted.
[0048] The pin-holding device 55 positions and holds the body component 1. Furthermore, the pin-holding device 55 is installed so that it can be moved back and forth on the position adjustment element 20 and can be connected to another receiving hole 7 of the body component 1, which is moved by the reverse operation of the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43. This means that the pin-holding device 55 is a holding pin that is moved back and forth by a holding cylinder 57.
[0049] The pen holding device 55 is well known to a specialist in the field, so a detailed description of it is omitted.
[0050] Welding unit 60 is, as in Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 shown, gripped by the grippers 33 and 43 and is ready to weld the body component 1, which is arranged by the arrangement unit 50, to the vehicle body using electrical resistance by means of projection welding.
[0051] The welding unit 60 has a first projection welding electrode 61, which is installed on the mounting holder 10, and a second projection welding electrode 62, which is installed so that it is movable on the mounting holder 10.
[0052] The first projection welding electrode 61 can be an anode, and the second projection welding electrode 62 can be a cathode in projection welding. In this case, the second projection welding electrode 62 can be installed on the mounting holder 10 so that it is movable with the first projection welding electrode 61 for adjusting the distance.
[0053] The welding unit 60 according to numerous embodiments of the present invention is now described in detail and comprises a mounting bracket 64, which is fixedly installed on the mounting bracket 10, a first welding cylinder 66, which is fixedly installed on the mounting bracket 64, and the first projection welding electrode 61, which is connected to the first welding cylinder 66 and is arranged to be movable back and forth.
[0054] The welding unit can further comprise a movable bracket 71, which is installed so that it is movable on the mounting bracket 64, a second welding cylinder 73, which is fixedly installed on the movable bracket 71, and the second projection welding electrode 62, which is connected to the second welding cylinder 73 and is designed to be movable back and forth.
[0055] In this case, the movable bracket 71 is an electrical unit that moves linearly along an axis by means of a movable element 75 on the mounting bracket 64. The movable element 75 can be a conventional LM conveying unit (conveyor) comprising an LM motor and an LM guide module for movement along an axis.
[0056] The first and second projection welding electrodes 61 and 62 receive welding current from a transistor 79, which is arranged on the mounting bracket 10, and can weld the body component 1 to the vehicle body using electrical resistance by means of projection welding.
[0057] As in Fig. 1 and Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the video camera 80 is installed as a pair on the position adjustment element 20 according to numerous embodiments of the present invention, they record a video of the body component 1 and the vehicle body which is to be assembled with the body component 1, and they output the video data to the control unit 90.
[0058] The video camera 80 can have a camera section which has an optical system and records a video of body part 1 and a part of the vehicle body assembled with body part 1, and a lamp section which emits light towards body part 1 and the part of the vehicle body assembled with body part 1.
[0059] The camera section and the lamp section of the Videokamera 80 are well known to a specialist in the field, so a detailed description of them is omitted.
[0060] The controller 90 controls the entire operation of the system 100 and simultaneously receives video data from the video cameras 80 and then analyzes the video data to control the actuation of the drive motor 21 and the movable elements 53 and 75.
[0061] This means that the control unit 90 receives the video data of the body component 1 and the vehicle body, which is assembled with the body component 1, from the video cameras 80 and then analyzes the video data to transmit electrical control signals to the drive motor 21 and the movable elements 53 and 75.
[0062] The drive motor 21 is thereby operated by means of the control signals from the control unit 90 and can rotate the position adjusting element 20. This means that the position adjusting element 20 is rotated by the drive motor 21, so that a feed position of the body component 1 with respect to the vehicle body and an arrangement position of the body component 1 are essentially set.
[0063] The movable elements 53 and 75 are operated by control signals from the control unit 90 and can linearly move the reference pin 51 of the arrangement unit 50 and can also linearly move the second projection welding electrode 62.
[0064] Below, a body component assembly method which uses an all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction is described according to numerous embodiments of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0065] Fig. Figure 5 is a flowchart of a body component assembly process which uses an all-in-one protrusion feeding system for vehicle manufacturing, according to numerous embodiments of the present invention.
[0066] Referring to Fig. 1 to Fig. 5 is the state in which the vehicle body is transported along a conveyor line to a working position where the robot 3 is located.
[0067] Furthermore, the all-in-one protrusion feeding system 100 for vehicle construction according to numerous embodiments of the present invention is mounted on the arm of the robot 3 by the mounting bracket 10.
[0068] In this state, in step S11, the system 100 is moved by the robot 3 towards the pallet on which the body part 1 is loaded, and then the video camera 80 records a video of the body part 1, so that the video data is output to the control unit 90 in step S12.
[0069] In addition, the control unit 90 receives the video data of the body component 1 from the video camera 80 and analyzes the video data in order to transmit electrical control signals to the drive motor 21.
[0070] The drive motor 21 is operated by the control signals of the control unit 90, causing the position adjusting element 20 to rotate. This rotation of the position adjusting element 20 by the drive motor 21 sets the position of the arrangement unit 50 in step S13.
[0071] Then the system 100 is moved by the robot 3 in one direction (e.g. from one top side to one bottom side) towards the body part 1 of the pallet, and in step S14 the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43 of the system 100 grasp one side and the other side of the body part 1 by suction through air pressure in accordance with a forward movement of the first and second actuating rods 35 and 45 of the first and second actuating cylinders 31 and 41.
[0072] Subsequently, the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43 move the body component 1 towards the arrangement unit 50 in accordance with a backward movement of the first and second actuating rods 35 and 45 of the first and second actuating cylinders 31 and 41.
[0073] The reference pin 51 of the arrangement unit 50 is moved linearly by the movable element 53 into a position which corresponds to the receiving hole 5 of the body component 1, by transmitting the electrical control signal to the movable element 53 by analyzing the video data of the body component 1 by the control device 90.
[0074] Consequently, the reference pin 51 can be connected to the receiving hole 5 of the body component 1, which is moved by a reverse operation of the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43. The pin holding device 55 of the arrangement unit 50 can be moved forward by the holding device cylinder 57 and can simultaneously be connected to the other receiving hole 7 of the body component 1, which is moved by a reverse operation of the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43.
[0075] This connects the reference pin 51 and the pin holding device 55 with the receiving holes 5 and 7 of the body component 1, which is moved by a reverse operation of the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43, and establishes an arrangement reference point of the body component 1, which is gripped by the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43, in order to position and hold the body component 1 in step S15.
[0076] In the state that the body component 1 is gripped by the first and second suction grippers 33 and 43 and is arranged by the reference pin 51 and the pin holding device 55 of the arrangement unit 50, the body component 1 together with the system 100 is moved by the robot 3 in step S16 towards the vehicle body which is to be assembled with the body component 1.
[0077] In step S17, therefore, in the state that the body component 1 is positioned near the vehicle body which is to be assembled with the body component 1, the video of the vehicle body is rotated by the video cameras 80 and the video data is then output to the control unit 90.
[0078] The control unit 90 receives the video data of the vehicle body from the video camera 80 and then analyzes the video data to transmit electrical control signals to the drive motor 21.
[0079] The drive motor 21 is thereby operated by the control signals of the control unit 90, so that the position adjusting element 20 is rotated, and the position adjusting element 20 is rotated by the drive motor 21, so that the body component 1 is set in step S18 into a position which corresponds to the vehicle body.
[0080] Subsequently, in step S19, the body component 1 is moved towards the vehicle body by actuating the robot 3 and the body component 1 is positioned in a starting position with respect to the vehicle body, so that the body component 1 is pressed.
[0081] In this case, by analyzing the video data of the vehicle body, the control unit 90 transmits the electrical control signal to the movable element 75, so that the second projection welding electrode 62 of the welding unit 60 is moved by the movable element 75 to a point which corresponds to a welding target point in order to set a distance with the first projection welding electrode 61.
[0082] The first and second projection welding electrodes 61 and 62 of the welding unit 60 are then moved forward by the first and second welding cylinders 66 and 73 and simultaneously receive the welding current from the transistor 79 in order to weld the body component 1 to the vehicle body by means of projection welding in step S20 through electrical resistance.
[0083] The body component 1, such as a windshield panel, is thereby fed to the vehicle body and assembled with the vehicle body by projection welding using the processes mentioned above.
[0084] According to numerous embodiments of the present invention, the body component 1 loaded onto the pallet is removed, positioned, and secured by the simple all-in-one system and method. Furthermore, the body component 1 can be fed to a precise position on the vehicle body and can then be assembled with the vehicle body by projection welding.
[0085] Consequently, the installation space required for devices becomes smaller, investment costs are reduced, man-hours are reduced, and the entire process becomes simpler, as the removal, arrangement, holding, and welding of body component 1 are accomplished through the simple all-in-one system and process.
[0086] Furthermore, the body component 1 is supplied to the vehicle body according to numerous embodiments of the present invention, unlike a conventional technique in which the body component 1 is supplied to a clamping device, so that the supply of the body component 1 to the vehicle body is improved.
[0087] To facilitate explanation and precise definition in the attached claims, the terms upper or lower, front or rear, and etc. are used to describe features of the exemplary embodiments with reference to their positions as shown in the drawings.
[0088] The preceding descriptions of certain exemplary embodiments of the present invention served the purpose of illustration and description. The exemplary embodiments were selected and described to illustrate certain principles of the invention and its practical applicability, thereby enabling the person skilled in the art to manufacture and apply various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, as well as various alternatives and modifications thereof. It is intended that the scope of the invention is defined by the accompanying claims.
